Sushi Friendly
by WadeFromBellaire
We tried Masa Sushi off of Nasa Road 1 for the first time this past Memorial Day weekend. We were seated at a nice table by the window, and immediately brought the menus. The sushi and sashimi offerings are extensive. We tried shrimp tempura, the shrimp roll, the crunch roll, and the Honolulu roll. All four of us at the table had our own opinions on which one was the best. But I have to say that the Honolulu roll was absolutely outstanding; I highly recommend it. You get about 10 pieces on this roll, which is served on a very long plate. It includes tempura shrimp, crabmeat, avocado, and much more. It is drizzled with honey mustard sauce, and is just incredibly delicious.
Our waitress was very attentive, very polite, and just a super DOLL of a cute japanese girl, who was very sweet in taking our order. We also had hot sake, an order of Japanese Udon noodles, and the Hibachi Steak. All of the dishes were very tasty and served steaming hot.
My two comments would be to have them not pick up the soy sauce and condiments from your table at closing, if you are still eating, and to turn the music down a little lower\softer. It was too loud in my opinion, but I did enjoy the variety of music. We will definately be going back again. The sushi and meals were fantastic.
PS: They brought us a complimentary bowl of Edamame (steamed soybeans) to our table, before we even ordered; very nice touch!
Pros: Excellent and Fresh Sushi, Great Service
Cons: Closing routine a little intrusive

Good Stuff
by vanessam888
I?m a hypercritical person when it comes to restaurants. I have really high expectations. So for me to not be able to find anything wrong with this place says enough. I think the cost of the food is reasonable and so is the food. I don?t eat raw fish but I do enjoy perusing their roll selection. I recommend the Crazy Roll. If you go on Sundays you get free edamame and mimosas! My husband gets the bento boxes which I don?t see the fascination with those but he is always pleased with them. I?ve never had any issues with bad service.
Pros: Good Quality Food at Reasonable Price
Cons: Restaurant Has Slight Fishy Smell (If I had to pick a con)

Fresh Sushi Owner's Brother Owns A Fish Market
by supervy
so i could never figure out how masa's sushi was not only so fresh, but HUGE cuts. Yeah, you're paying $2 a piece but it's the thickest cut I've ever seen at any restaurant. i talked to the owner and he explained his brother owns a fish market. i eat sushi all the time and i take a lot of pleasure in trying out new places. i've also worked at several sushi restaurants so i know my stuff. take it from me, the sushi here is so fresh, and so large, that it's well worth your money. fufu roll will feed a family of 4 on its own.
Pros: fresh thick sushi slices
Cons: music is always 90s style

LOVE IT!! Small environment, very nice for a date
by scprincess83
We discovered this sushi gem a couple of years ago. We are about 30 miles from it so we only go every so often. However, it is a birthday favorite of my boyfriends and myself. The service is always consistent, I can't ever think of a time when our order was wrong. The food is always stellar, we love the crunch roll and the tuna tartare. They also have a nice selection of sashimi and sushi pieces. My boyfriends mother doesn't eat sushi but loves the regular menu. They do however have a couple of interesting ice cream flavors. My boyfriend loves the green tea, it tastes exactly like green tea. There is no other way to describe it. They also have red bean but we have not tried it yet, maybe next time. The dinning area is small so on weekends it is a bit crowded. If you have a large group and want to go on either weekend night, call ahead. If you do not then you can expect to wait forty five minutes to an hour. It's worth it but it can get frustrating. The bar can be fun to sit at. We have tried a few new rolls recently because we sat at the bar and watched them make a couple. All in all our favorite sushi place that we have discovered so far.
Pros: great sushi and comfortable environment, booths are nice if on a date
Cons: crowded on weekends

Best Sushi Place Ever!
by meluvsushi1
I eat at Masa Sushi ATLEAST twice a week. I am very picky with sushi and have tried almost every place in the city of Houston and Masa is the best place by far! Great environment, very nice people and wonderful service, and extra fresh food. Great place for casual dining during the day and at night the mood is set very nice for a romantic dinner. Prices are reasonable too! Sushi anywhere is never cheap. I more than highly recommend Masa Sushi.
Pros: Great food, friendly people.
Cons: The music sometimes isn't so good for that type of nice dining and needs more parking spaces.

Great service friendly staff plus great food what more do you need
by jimplayspool
I have eaten here many times and every time it has been an enjoyable experience. The wait staff is always friendly and attentive. The sushi and sashimi is some of the best in Clear Lake. I highly recommend coming here if you want to enjoy your meal.
Pros: Great food and service

Most Expensive Sushi
by sushidiner
I eat sushi all the time and I've tried just about every place here in the Clear Lake area from Tokyo Bowl to Sushi Coast, Ichibon, you name it I've tried it. Masa's sushi is by far the most expensive place and a big waste of money. I remember first trying sushi 10 years ago when it was considered a delicacy. Nowadays, you can get sushi just about anywhere. My wife and I went to Masa on a Tuesday night and I ordered the various sushi and sashimi while my wife tried the new steak entree that you cook on a hot rock. I think it's called Ishiki (spelling?) or something. Anyhow, the whole ordeal was a ripoff. Thirty something dollars for a few pieces of steak (and it wasn't even filet mignon). Also, our male server kept on glancing at my wife on several occasions. I had gone to the washroom during the middle of my meal and when I came back the guy was standing next to my wife trying to make conversation. For heaven's sake, let your customers dine in peace! Our billed totaled $85 and neither of us were full. At least the sushi was good, but my wife was totally disappointed by her entree. Granted we won't be going back cause there's a lot of places in this area that I'd rather spend my money.
Pros: Fresh fish
Cons: Way to Expensive, Bothersome Waiter

Decent Place for the Area
by texmex1
Masa has fresh sushi, and a great feel to it, but they are a little pricey for what it is compared to the many Sushi places in Houston.
The Lunch menu could have a few more specials, and at better prices...
The Tai was fresh and tasty.
Pros: Fresh Sushi, Great Vibe
Cons: Prices

Best Crunch Rolls ever. Go whenever you get the chance and you'll be addicted.
by cmlakegirl
Masa Sushi is my favorite restaurant. Its a nice quiet place, great for dates. You can eat at the sushi bar, on the patio or inside at a table. My favorite appetizer are the crab puffs and I always order crunch rolls and oh yeah crazy sashimi. The blackened tuna is another favorite of mine. Order any of these suggested foods and your guaranteed to be a fan and frequent customer. hope you try it and enjoy!!!
Pros: Quiet setting, great for dates. Delicious menu.
Cons: Needs extra parking.

Great place for sushi
by hvic
Yes this is the place to be for great sushi with very fresh fish. come any day on the weekend and it is packed with customers that have good taste. the staff here are very friendly and are always on the ball. If you are reading this and have not tried this place yet, do not make lunch or dinner and come here to try great food that you will not be disappointed. I have been to other places on bay area and notice that this place is the best on the southeast clear lake area(bay area). Other places like hoshizuna, samurai, and tokyo bowl beware because this place will beat all there competition.
Pros: great japanese fusion food, always impressed every time

Great Sushi with an even greater staff
by janijo
This place is open every day - and if I could, I would go every day. The food is just awesome - innovative, but also traditional. The staff knows exactly what they are serving and can answer questions authoritatively. And the food is just downright great. Definitely worth the trip -- try the deezy roll -- it is TOO good!
Pros: Great food and great staff
Cons: needs more intimate seating arrangements

finally, a decent sushi place in the SE
by missorenishii
trust me, with all the sushi places finally popping up in the SE side, this is probably going to be one of the better spots to try out. the space is small, but the personal touch and fusion decor seperates them from any other sushi restaurants, thus setting a cozy ambience. the sushi is decent, i've tried better in the greater metropolitan houston area, but it'll satisfy your palette. one of their highlights: they actually serve those sorbet fruit desserts, using the fruit itself as a bowl. not many sushi restaurants serve those! overall, you'll have a pleasant dining experience here.*
Pros: sorbet, ambience
Cons: parking, crowded
