Yes, hair grows back. Yes, I got a bad cut. Yes, a stylist (not me) with a blow dryer can cover a lot of mistakes. But, poor business practices? This is where I draw the line.
I scheduled an appointment for a Jr Designer ($35) one hour before the appointment time. I thought I got lucky with a cancellation. I was wrong. I showed up and there was NO ONE ELSE there except a photographer taking pictures, the receptionist/shampoo lady, and the owner, Quy. I confirmed at the desk I had an appt with a Jr Designer. Yes. The owner consults with me about my cut request then tells me that the Jr Designer is not available but she will give me 10% off her regular price of $60. Really? You didn't know that there wasn't a Jr Designer available when I called 1 hour prior? I call BS! I got up to walk out. She then decided she would give me a cut at the $35 charge. I decided to risk it. If you call and schedule with a Jr or Sr designer, ASK FOR THE NAME OF THAT DESIGNER AND CONFIRM AGAIN WHEN YOU ARRIVE. Don't be roped in. If they commited to an appt for $35, they should honor that if the person isn't available and you have to be bumped up.
Before leaving, while I was still happy with the cut, the owner asked me to log in to CitySearch at the front desk and enter my review and vote for her salon for "Best of". She even clicked the pages for me! I refused to log in. She told me she would help me because it was tricky and a few pages. Really? I am finding this very easy. I guess she thinks I'm really stupid. I had no intentions of reviewing the site. My next contact was going to be with the Better Business Bureau and let them deal with the Bait and Switch advertising. But, when pressured into voting and writing a review, I felt I should enter it here so others know that some of the reviews you are reading may have been entered with the owner reading over the person's shoulder.
Then came Sunday... I washed my hair. It became apparent that she chopped away huge chunks of hair in areas that made no sense. My hair looked like a disaster. When you have coworkers being honest with you, you know it's bad. They couldn't even lie to me and say it looked good. My boss referred to it as "edgy". That's not the look I was going for. I spent my lunch on Wednesday at Great Clips getting it repaired. The woman did a fabulous job with what she was left, and had to cut off 3 more inches in the process so I could walk around without embarassment.
Too many red flags, and I didn't listen... Lesson learned.
Oh, and I did read a bunch of reviews before going so I was prepared for the whole pricing issue. The other bad reviews were around color, and I wasn't getting my hair colored.
Pros: None
Cons: Bait and switch, poor cut, harrassed
