the store has been around for years (went through a tough period under a new owner a few years ago) but the new owners really know how to run a store! the shelves are packed, they're open 7 days, and usually you can find the owner showing someone where something is. none of the home desperate customer no service ("that's over on aisle 10" as they're too busy talking with a co-"worker") you rarely need to ask where anything is, because they know how to logically lay out their merchandise. and usually their prices meet or beat the big orange box.

true story: i was replacing a window. (i know, what a pane) i needed glaziers points and putty. (it was in a wooden frame) i went to home desperate, and was told by not one, but 3 (you read that right, three!), after asking for glaziers points that "lazer pointers are on aisle 3". off i went on the search for window supplies (not for lazer pointers). they only had pre-cut 'standard' sizes of glass. they wouldnt custom cut, but they would sell you a cutter. they also only had quart cans of putty. (in the paint department, not near the window material) went to arnold's, found 2 varieties of points, also (right below them), pints of (2 different brands) putty, and the custom cut of glass i needed.

they also have the odd electrical fitting or plumbing part that home desperate wont bother to carry 'cause they don't sell 50 a week.

tired of seeing orange? this place is the perfect antidote for the orange apron.
