We tried CaioBella on a whim last Saturday night . . . and I am glad I did! The food was AMAZING and the atmosphere was modern, polished and cool. Since the weather was so great, there were plenty of sidewalk tables and the restaurants

Cons: You might have to wait for a table.

The food was out of this world. Ive been to many italian restaurants and this menu blew my socks off. The cornish hen is to die for, just melts in your mouth.

Ciaobella ?????? 1640 Second Avenue, New York City (212-794-9494) www.ciaobellanyc.com
Over the years I must have tried almost every trendy, cool, hip, elegant, sophisticated restaurant in New York City. I carry the Michelin Guide and the Zagat guide almost everywhere with me. During one of my dinners at Ciaobella I found the food reliably pleasing, starting with the meatballs over the perfect tomato sauce. I had the butternut squash ravioli that was handmade, that is truly original. At the end, tiramisu just like in Rome, even better. A definite surprise if you are in pursuit of the perfect Italian cuisine experience. The most enjoyable part of my experience was the downtown vibe and people watching scene. Now there are several Proietti restaurants scattered over the Upper East Side, Baraonda, Bella Blu and Per Lei, all with their own identity. Its no wonder the food was up to par at Ciaobella. I couldn??????t help but loving the d????cor. The red crocodile ceilings and the intensifying wood gives the place a different yet hipper atmosphere. Adorning in detail are the chandeliers you can??????t help but notice, somewhat bold, but it works. The staircase to the upstairs takes you back to the speakeasy VIP days. I say, a fashionable crowd is always good. The New Yorker and the innocent tourist will appreciate the Italian hospitable staff and the food along with it. A must try. The Private Dining Upstairs, where I hosted my Birthday for 80 people was also Phenomenal. Great place for Private Events!
