Housed in a former 1920's theater, Opera is the place to find the pulse of Atlanta's Buckhead nightlife. A plush interior of red velvet couches and contemporary artwork create an atmsophere of casual classiness. With a multi level main area at a capacity of 1800 and a large outdoor cabana patio, Opera packs in the crowds and keeps them dancing. The cabana area is an inner city oasis where you can escape the madness and even lie on an outdoor bed, cocktail in hand and see the Midtown skyline at night. Our DJs, musical performances and various special events make Opera more than just a nightclub, but THE place to be to either start, spend or end your night. All areas are bookable for parties and special events. We also provide catering services.

Editorial by Citysearch

In short
With a nod to its historic roots as a 1920s Opera House, the former Crescent Avenue hot spot 1150 unloaded $2 million to renovate and relaunch as Opera. From the staff to singletons, beautiful people pack this midtown mega club and shake it to the sounds of a variety of weekend DJs. The authentic stage, 100-foot domed ceiling and VIP mezzanine opera boxes make it a classy place to let loose over the weekend.

Key Points

  • Famous Dj's & Celebrities
  • World Renowned VIP Section
  • 3 Levels of Experiences

The Inside Scoop

  1. Where to Sit - Hit the Cabana Lounge outside for a little lack of chaos.
  2. Save Money - Subscribe to Eleven 50's e-mail list and receive updates on shows, discounts and priority tickets.
  3. Look Good - While most mob the main room, the less-frequented gallery bar is full service; there are large, rarely crowded bathrooms near the downstairs front exit.
  4. Parking - Parking can be tricky at times, but there are two Marta stops within walking distance--Arts Center and Midtown stations
  5. Look Good - Mezzanine VIP areas come with personal cocktail service and serpentine bed-style seating.
  6. Save Money - Get in the door before midnight and avoid the cover charge on the weekends.
  7. Know Before You Go - The club's address is Peachtree Street, but the entrance is on Crescent Avenue.

Every person there tells you different things about what you're paying for vs what your getting. Then they send you on a wild goose chase so you never get refunded for what they "assured" you you were getting. My group of friends got took for more than $200 and we weren't the only ones in the club complaining. If you want to sit down/lean ANYWHERE the actual cost in between $300-3000. BEWARE OF THIS PLACE!!!

Pros: pretty

Cons: looking to rip you off at every turn

Ratings_icons I got tricked, and apparently I?m not the first?.

JasonCar

I had a very unfortunate incident at Opera about two weeks ago. I came in here to post my experience and I read some of the older comments. The same exact thing happened to another customer in May. This is absolutely ridiculous.

I got a table at Opera with 3 friends. Promoter at the door promised me one price, but when I received the tab the price was 3 times higher. I asked to talk to the promoter, but they said that he had taken off one hour before. They said that they were going to call the cops, but we called the cops first. The 2 officers showed up and said that we had to pay to avoid going to jail for ?defrauding an innkeeper?. I couldn?t believe it! Thankfully we had the money to pay, and we are going to contest this charge. But what if they had come with a tab for $5,000???? We would?ve had to pay to avoid prison????? I wonder how many people have already been tricked like this?

Ratings_icons Great place... poor music, hospitality, drink selection

TDM

Went on July 16th...place was packed but the DJ couldn't get the party jumping. They advertised free drinks until 11pm, stopped serving drinks a quarter to 11pm. No rum other than Captain Morgan, no Patron, no Midori...none of my friends got the other drinks they asked for. It was hot and muggy. Even Monica tried to liven things up, but the DJ was simply GARBAGE! Nice place, glad it was free, won't be going back though.

Pros: spacious, elegant, short wait time

Cons: music, bar

Opera is the best nightclub i have ever been to! Great people, great staff, great music, and great drinks! There was a fight nearby when everyone was leaving and one of the security guards made sure that me and my friends were ok after we had been shoved down by the guys that were fighting. I thought that was a nice gesture.

Pros: best atmosphere and classy

Ratings_icons THIS HAPPENED JUST 1 WEEK AGO... (MAY 2009)

MarkHowey

Please read this because it happened just 1 week ago. This is an honest review coming from a person that used to be a fan of Opera.

Last weekend I went to Opera with a group of 11 people to celebrate a friend?s birthday. We were greeted at the door by one of Opera?s promoters. He said that he could offer us a great deal: a table for our group, 2 bottles of vodka, and 2 bottles of champagne for $450. The 11 members of the group listened to his offer and we were all very excited and accepted it. We got to the table and everything went well, but the 2 bottles of champagne were never served. At the end of the night, we all went to a room located downstairs to pay for the table. AND THIS IS WHEN THINGS BECAME RIDICULOUS. We were shocked when we were given a tab of $850. We informed the Opera employees that there was a problem with the tab, and that we had been told that the price would be $450. Two bouncers came to the scene and tried to intimidate us into paying. They said that the promoter that had offered us the deal had already left, so there was nothing we could do about it. The Opera employees were EXTREMELY rude, and kept on saying that we had 10 minutes to pay or else we would all be thrown in jail. We called 911. The police officers said that the only thing that we could do was pay the $850 tab and then contact the credit card company the following day to contest the payment. They said that the promoter who had offered us the deal was gone and that nothing could be done at that time. In the end, we had to pay $850 to avoid going to jail.

Needless to say how upset we all were by the incident. The credit card company has already been contacted and we have hired a lawyer to initiate action against Opera.

But the most upsetting thing was the way in which we were treated by the Opera employees. We were verbally humiliated, we were kept inside a room for over 1 hour and never did they even consider the possibility that we weren?t just trying to get away from paying the tab. BE VERY CAREFUL IF YOU GO THERE. ME AND 10 OTHER PEOPLE LEARNED IT THE HARD WAY.

Pros: Good Atmosphere

Cons: Service

Ratings_icons Opera!!!

jessica123m

I really like Opera, it was my favorite club to go to until last Friday night.(5-1-09) When we were all leaving, a fight broke out. I understand that the bouncers and all of the security need to take care of the situation and get people downstairs, but when someone gets hurt in the fight like being pushed into the door. I think they should take the time to help that person. My friend could hardly walk and the bouncer told her to "Get the f*ck outside!" He didnt care, even after we explained to him that she could hardly walk he didnt care and kept telling us to get downstairs. We were all trying to tell him that we needed to stay with her because she was hurt and he told my friend that if she didnt get downstairs he was going to "kick her in her p*ssy." Which for such a "nice" and "sophisticated" club I thought was completley out of line to say and very disrespectful!(This bouncers name was John) Also, before all of this happened when we were at the bar, the bartenders were very rude and didnt know if they had the kind of vodka I wanted or not.(STOLI?) And to top it off, someguy on the dance floor stole my friends wallet. And in the end, we were all waiting out in the rain to get to talk to someone. Of course no one cared! My friend could barely walk down the stairs and no one bothered to help us. But when a drunk girl came out of VIP there were probably about 3 bouncers all around her trying to help her down the stairs. FUNNY how that works. I'm not saying dont go to Opera because it is a very fun club and I like it. I am just saying, that if you get hurt dont expect anyone to help you. And you will probably end up getting disrespected by a bouncer or a bartender.

Pros: good music, different rooms, good drinks

Cons: long lines, gets kind of crowded

Opera Nightclub, by far, is one of the best clubs I've ever been to in the Southeast, and definitely the nicest in Atlanta! I'm from San Francisco, but travel often, and I always make sure to drop by everytime I'm in town. Their staff is extremely friendly and accomodating, and I know my clients will always have an amazing time when I take them!

Pros: Beautiful venue and beautiful people!

Ratings_icons My favorite club in Atlanta

TwoTimes

If your going out in Atlanta, Opera is definitely a must see. It is the premier night club in Atlanta. The best thing to do is get on Facebook and become a friend of the club, they offer guest lists to get you in free almost every weekend. The most beautiful girls are there, the best DJ's and you can get in free... what else could u ask for.

I'm always impressed with the talent that this place books. One night they will have "Cirque Du Soleil" style performance with dancers hanging from strings in mid-air, the next they have live bands and a world famous DJ.

I got to see Armin Van Buuren there a couple of weeks ago and it was crazy. I had never heard of him but one of my friends invited my so I went with her. It was on a Wednesday night and it looked like one of the clubs featured on "Wild on" (the show on E) that you would have to travel to Soutth America to get to. It was packed and the people were going nuts.

Bottom line, you would be crazy not to go check this place out.

Pros: Reasonable drink prices, beautiful girls, and good music

My crew and I usually find ourselves at Opera 4-5 times a month. At least once a week for sure! From the moment we enter we feel as if we are VIP's! We like to hang out in the main room with our favorite bartender Chad. He makes a tasty drink and is very fast behind the bar.

Pros: Hospitality, Atmosphere, Music, Drinks!

Cons: Get there early cause the line to get in can be lengthy

Some of my old friends that I haven't seen in a couple years came in town this past weekend from Vegas. The idea was to bar-hop all weekend and tear up the town! We started off @ Opera Thursday night for the John Digweed show which was absoltely amazing! We had such a good time Thursday night that we decided to go back Friday and Saturday night as well. So much for seeing the rest of the town... Find the best and stick with em!!!!

Ratings_icons Cheap but expensive, overhyped and definitely not an upscale

mark_atlantic

If you go to their web-site you would see pictures and statements which look and sound OK. But in this case the appearance is deceiving. This club is owned by a bunch of guys from India who try to squeeze every penny from the establishment without taking care of patrons. The management deludes itself and the public thinking that they are the best, which simply is not true. Self proclaimed world class DJs would be much better off if they locked themselves in sound proofed restroom.

Pros: none

Cons: Does not deliver what is promised, one of the most overhyped places

Ratings_icons Pretty Club, Good Crowd & Music

ssilvera

I just hitt Opera for the first time since it was the former Club 1150 and thought it was real cool. Pretty looking...The set up reminds me of Mansion in Miami, just smaller. The music was okay - they played a little something for everyone. The crowd was hype and had good energy. No intention of becoming a regular, but would definitely visit again. You can club hop in this area so if one spot isn't working for you, there's always another you can pop into.

Pros: Locations, Scene

Every time I have gone to Opera I had an amazing time. The girls in the club look like the off the pages of maxim magazine and the bar staff always treats me right. No matter who you are or who you hang with you can fit in at Opera. I would definitely recommend paying the $10 extra bucks to get up in VIP.. its totally worth it.. Or make friends with the staff.

I have gone to Opera a few times now and every time I've experienced excellent service. From the line outside to the bathroom attendants, everyone offers up a great attitude and speedy service. I recommend paying a little extra for VIP wristbands. The VIP bar has private restrooms and even faster bartenders--well worth the additional $20. I also recommend champagne--you can buy it by the bottle!!

Pros: Music

Ratings_icons The Place WOULD BE great if...Better Management...Better DJ's....and Better Service

ck1284

So i have been to Opera a few times and i have found myself wondering why there is a lack of respect to people who bring the club business...the security and door girl seem to hate their jobs?.once inside the club I find myself disgusted at the DJ?s spinning on the main floor, for the exception of DJ KLEVER who is on another level of excellence, of course. If you dont want to hear train wreck mixes and the same old top 40s without the twist mixes on your typical Friday and Saturday nights then I don?t suggest going here?but if you are into going to Opera solely for the Looks then it?s a great place?. As Far As Music, Service, and an overall lack of Managerial skills it is only a matter of time before this mega club meets its Match...what a waste!!

Pros: Good Looking Place

Cons: Bad DJ's, Bad Service, Rude Management

This place is great if you are VIP, I have been twice. If you are not, do NOT expect good service. I lost my keys and it took me 2 hours for someone to point me in the right direction towards a manager and they gave me the run- around. One of the security guards actually cussed me out and pushed me out the door when I asked for the manager's name. It was a horrible experience and I would never go again. Girls, be careful of the security guards on power trips. Too bad because it was a great place for dancing in Atlanta.

Pros: atmosphere, music , VIP

Cons: security, service

Ratings_icons Its a shame too, I really enjoyed Eleven50 before it became Opera...

joeyh296

I have been here a few times, when they used to be Eleven50. Since they have opened the new club, its horrible! Their prices went up and their service went down. I have been double charged for drinks twice since they opened up and they were never nice about it - but did resolve it. They have a pretty place there, but the girls are mostly out for guys with money. If you are going there to meet girls, you better have deep pockets.
Also, if you look at the gallery on their website, the girls you see there are all staff and their stage dancers, not their patrons.
Usually this place is FULL of Guys b/c they are all out to meet the hot girls in Atlanta and its not here... If you go early on in the night, there are not alot of people there, but as it gets later, it gets PACKED!!! You will not be able to move very far without someone spilling a drink on you or vice versa. Don't wear your best to go here!
There are many rooms to this place, but really if you are going to go, you BETTER be VIP its the only people they cater to well here because they have the most money.
Honestly if you want a good night out and want to meet girls - you are better off at other places in town. I don't think we will be going back anytime soon until their management straightens out. Heck the first night I went was opening and they opened 3hrs late with about 750-1000 people crowded in the streets outside. AND THE PLACE WASN'T EVEN FINISHED!!! The paint was still wet in some places, and there was construction everywhere...
I went back a couple more times after that (I'm a glutton for punishment) and had more and more problems till I stopped going all together. Its a shame too, I really enjoyed Eleven50 before it became Opera...

Pros: Really Beautiful Place - They have GREAT VIP areas

Cons: Overpriced, Poor Parking, VERY Crowded

My friends and I have attended Opera a few times and each time we get hassled at the door. Both times we have been on a management list and were still forced to pay at the door. Opera needs to organize their door employees and security to allow in people who've made resvervations or have gone out of their way to make sure that they're already on someones guest list.

Pros: Good looking crowd, great space.

Cons: parking, lines, door

Many of us cried when the old 1150 nightspot closed last year, in the rear of the Atlanta Women's Club Building. Many clubs have come in gone the last few years, but enter Opera. And what a sight it is. Once a 1920's theatre, it has now been outfitted as a modern nightclub with three levels, yes even opera boxes for V.I.P's, built-in stage, and a 20ft. dome ceiling and art gallery. Also part of the complex is Cabana, an outdoor nightclub, cabana's, and a 20ft.pool with a waterfall. This place is all glam. We loved it. Come spend a night at the Opera!

Ratings_icons About the only place left to hear big name Djs

hi_standard

I have heard many stories about the doormen, and in defense, half of that stuff is either because the club is already too crowded or..they just want to make money on the side, that aside 1150 is still a good club, a great sound system, quality bartenders, and its about the only place you can go to if you want to hear some big name djs. Since the crescent room became sutra, theres no other clubs really bring djs on a regular basis.

but because of that, the crowd can vary a lot, depending on the Dj, for instance a big trance Dj compared to a big House dj, they draw different crowds, still 50% or more of the crowd will be your usual midtown out goers.

You may have a good time or a bad time, ive had both, but some of my best nights out have been there, as well as my worst. The outside pool area is nice in the summer and spring, and the art gallery is nice to lounge in, when its open.

Overall, a real quality club

Pros: great sound system, many popular djs, variety of music

Cons: expensive entrance fee, music and crowd depends on DJ

Posted 10/20/06

Ratings_icons RUDE personnel, they just need your cash. AVOID LIQUIFIED

dadadadada

The doormen are RUDE! They pump up the ticket price with time.
You give them $20 cash in hand, and you can skip the line... but you still need to buy your ticket. If you have ALREADY bought it, you STILL need to pay 20$ to avoid waiting AT LEAST 1 hour to enter... finding all types of fake excuses. Inside atmosphere is nice ... but is it worth to enter at 1am when the club closes at 2:30, and you've been waiting in line since 11:30pm ?

Pros: Patio music is not too loud - but no place to sit there!

Cons: Rude doormen, rude crowd, if you have CAS$ to waste

Ratings_icons Saturday's Are IT

dubgphib

If you're looking for some of the best rated DJ's in the world, you'll find them on Saturday nights. I've been going there for years. Cover on Friday's always stays the same. Cover on Saturday's is based on what DJ is there. Every Saturday there is a different crowd, mainly based on the dance act. (Which is one thing I love best about it, I never know what to expect) The crowd is always friendly, and everyone is there to have a good time.

The sound is great, when you're on the dance floor you can definitely feel the music. If you want to take a break you can go outside to their newly renovated Outdoor Garden.

Also, traffic and parking are a lot better now that Vision is closed.

This place is always filled with the bridge and tunnel crowd. I applaud their attempt to dress well, but Kenneth Cole Reaction was never cool.

My friends who like house music say that the music is always good, so I can't judge on that aspect.

I give Eleven50 a chance every couple of months or so since it's been in Atlanta for some time. Every time I go, I'm always disappointed.

Let me take that back....that hot dog stand outside of the club is awesome. Overpriced but when I've paid $8.00 for a vodka tonic that comes in a shot glass, I'm not so price sensitive.

Pros: Uh...., Hot Dogs?, Polish Sausages!

Cons: Overpriced Drinks, $20 Cover

Ratings_icons Thank you Sir may I have another?

Famous phrases from Animal House come true when communicating into the vacuous faces of the doormen or management who are really boys and girls just trying to be hip and pretty. As a trance enthusiast I cringe each time I hear of a new marquis DJ will be in town because there are better venues with better staff - The Mark, for instance.

Last night took the cake though. Having read an AccessAtlanta ad carrying a $10 before 11pm discount for that night, I was denied it when I arrived at 10:50pm. The hostess could care less about what I had to say. Then, the club made the growing crowd wait an hour in the rain for a private function to finish inside. The list goes on, but this club does not know about competence nor professionalism. All it knows is projecting attitude and trying to be something it's not.

Pros: marquis DJ names, good set-up

Cons: , attitude, price

Ratings_icons The Best Nightclub in Atlanta

dave360

I have been going to Opera since it opened as eleven50 back in 1999. The club was recently renovated in 2007 to bring eleven50 back to its origins as a 1920 Opera theatre. 22 VIP Opera boxes were added to the second level as well as a 3rd level VIP bar with private bathrooms. The lighting and sound systems were enhanced and the dance floor was enlarged signficantly. The club's main room plays mainstream hip hop and mash-up mixes. There are two additional party areas. The outside "Cabana" area has private cabanas, fountains, and miami style house music under the stars and tall buildings of midtown. During the spring, summer, and fall this makes for a great way to start your night prior to going into the main dance room, or to just spend the evening outside. A newly renovated back room has been significantly enlarged for private parties and DJ events with an amazing sound and light system. No other club in Atlanta can match the decadence and party that Opera has to offer. I have been to many of the major clubs throughout the US in places such as NYC, Miami, Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angelese, Las Vegas, and others and Opera stands out as one of my favorite places. The venue is great for large groups whether you want to spend the night as a VIP or in the main party areas. Many VIPs have frequented the club include many professional athletes to music celebrities. The club also brings in some of the world's best DJs on weeknights such as Armin Van Buuren, Tiesto, Paul Van Dyk and others. This is the place to spend your weekends in Atlanta! A night not to be missed...

Pros: Very attractive crowd and staff, three distinct environments, old 1920's historic building

Cons: late night lines due to popularity

Eleven50 is a mixed group, alot of college kids but also the working crown into their late 20's and early 30's. Great outside area. Clubby and trendy but very classy. The club is decorated gorgeously. A good time, good music. Expensive drinks but hey, its Atlanta. Always packed on thurs, fri, sat. Easy to get a taxi upon leaving

Pros: good music, good crowd, classy

Cons: , strict with id's

I love this place. While it is a bit on the expensive side, there's space to suit any mood: the relaxed art gallery and patio or the high-energy scene of the dance floor. The staff is polite and quick, and the atmosphere alone is worth going for.

Pros: Music, Outdoor Patio, General Atmosphere

Cons: Expensive

First i need to personally insult those 2 girls in black on 8.8.03. Pick your spot to dance and stay. It's not your stage at the stripjoint. And spandex is a privlage not a right,so please don't bendover again. Black wasnt that slimming on you. 1150 isn't a danceclub it's a prance club. Floor is too small. Drinks & cover expensive. Men said lewd things to me when my date was gone. Floozies trolled the patio for free drinks from stupid men. where do selfrespecting intelligent people go to dance ? Not 1150! This is why I quit going to buckhead. Please pick another"Best club" next year.

Pros: couple HOT bartenders, Outside seating, close to other clubs

Cons: the 'pro's in black, value for dollars

Ratings_icons don't believe the hype!

Expensive, watered down drinks. The bar staff was nice, but the door guys and inside security were kind of rude. The dj's they advertised as being the best in Atlanta were definately not. What little of a crowd they had there seemed as bored as I was. Not recommended. At least I was close to other clubs so I didn't have to park

Pros: parking

Cons: security, dj's

There are not many good dancers here. The chicks here aren't very hot either. But it probably depends on the day. I went here three times. First time it was boring. They played crappy music and the people there were so fake.

I went the second time to give it another chance, it was amazing. They had awesome dancers, hot chicks, great music, and great ppl with cool personalities. I couldnt' believe it was the same club I went to last time.

So I went the third time and it sucked again. I'm thinking the second Time I went was a fluke.

Pros: atmosphere, huge dance floor

Cons: People, parking

Eleven50 is a very trendy and cool nightclub. The atmosphere is incredible and the entertainment is crazy. You can see anything from drag queens to fire breathing midgets on any night. Very good spot to see world famous DJs.

Apparently some people havent had good experiences here, but I've never been and not had a great time. Resident DJ Brandon Sutton is always great and the dancing is serious. As with many places, its who you go with that defines what kind of time you have. Plenty of places to get romantic and lounge...I like the gallery scene

Pros: Dancing, VIPs

Cons: hit or miss DJs
