I love Thai food and have dined at many of the familiar places around Metro Atlanta. Thai Palate is by far my absolute favorite. Their Mango Chicken with fresh basil and Coconut Chicken dishes are ones that ignite cravings for their unique blend of flavors. Their Roti pancake with curry sauce appetizer is also a real treat as is their flaming banana dessert. Those in my dining parties have always agreed that the food is exceptional and we all look forward to sharing a meal there again. Great place for dinner before the theater.

Pros: Fabulous Mango and Coconut Chicken

My fiance and I went to this restaurant looking for a great atmosphere and Thai food. We were greatly disappointed. It started with our drinks taking at least 10 minutes to get to our table, then, 15 more minutes for our appetizer, then, 20 more minutes for my entree to come out by itself. We had to wait longer for my fiancees entree, making my food get cold.
While we were waiting for his entree, we saw a large insect (that for some reason citysearch won't let me write the type of insect... but its the gross one that scurrys around) run across the stone wall we were sitting next to. We were grossed out but wanted to give them a chance to redeem themselves since the manager had apologized that there was only one cook that night. We told our waiter about the insect and he came up with a bunch of excuses like "oh, well it's the season for them" and walked away. Well, that was the last straw. We offered to pay for our appetizer and left. I hope no one ever has to have an experience like this :(

Pros: Decor is decent

Cons: Bad service

-- This was my first visit. Food was not up to par for good Thai. Red curry chicken was bland and not spicy (as ordered). The Prik Khin chicken ordered by my guest was slightly better. Coconut chicken soup had a slight sour smell and tasted less than fresh. Portion size was more than adequate. Fortunately, I did not pay full price (since I had a $25 gift certificate purchased for $2 - which required a minimum food purchase of $35). I'd rather pay full price at Surin in Va. Highlands or Bangkok Thyme on Roswell.

Pros: Portion size

Cons: Taste

Although we ordered our food online and had good results (the ordering was easy, and the delivery came more quickly than expected), that is where the positive experience ended. My friend and I both had the Tom Yum soup, and it was horrible. We forced ourselves to get past the smell and were rewarded with a thin sour-tasting broth that left a bad taste in our mouths. Though it was spicy, this was just a strong aftertaste after a rather unappealing flavor combination. The Pad Thai wasn't much better. Gluey noodles were topped with dry chicken and accompanied by a side compartment of sprouts and peanuts that did nothing to enhance the flavor. My boyfriend got the coconut chicken soup. While this was slightly better than my soup, the broth was thin and almost oily, tasting overwhelmingly like butter and not much else. The crowning touch came with his green chicken curry, which looked unappetizing and tasted even worse. The sauce didn't even taste like curry, and the combination of chicken, sauce, and an overwhelming amount of bamboo was deemed "the worst thai food I have ever had" by my boyfriend. He left his meal almost completely untouched. Overall, this was a huge disappointment and totally NOT worth the money.

Ordered the mango chicken. Very tasty, nice portions, moderately priced. Would visit again. Service was prompt and friendly!

This place used to be my favorite Thai restaurant. That all changed tonight with our take out. My wife's order didn't taste good. She called and the owner answered. She let the man know that her food was terrible and that she'd either like a refund or a note saying her next order is free. The owner immediately got defensive, demanded that we bring his food back before he'd replace anything, and continued to raise his voice, interrupt my wife, and question her honesty. He would say "Why should I trust that you're telling me the truth!" She gave up because he was literally screaming over her. I took the food back and confronted the owner, someone I had talked to several times before, someone I thought knew and cared about my patronage. I let him know that his service was unacceptable and left without a refund. I'll never step back in that place again. What kills me is that he would've been refunding a 10 dollar meal. I spend about 50 dollars per month there, or about 600 dollars per year. He was so willing to throw all of that away because his ego was bruised. Unbelievable.

Ordered delivery from them three times. All three times, there was something wrong with the order: something missing, something wrong, no soup and salad with the lunch special, etc. The restaurant promised to credit my account but never did. (I am following up on that with my credit card company now!) The food was ordinary at best. The last time I ordered from them - the last time I WILL EVER order from them - the delivery driver called me downstairs from my work building to pick up the order from him, then kept me waiting for five minutes because he wasn't there yet, then CURSED ME OUT because I didn't tip him enough - and then the RESTAURANT called to yell at me for not tipping the driver enough, EVEN THOUGH they'd already gotten my order wrong! As I've said, I will never order from there again, and I would strongly warn others away from this restaurant - the quality of the food is just not good enough to outweigh the dishonesty and horrible service.

How do we say this? Yuck!
The food was so-so. The service was awful. The place actually smelled bad. Even the sodas where bad! How do you make bad Coke in Atlanta for goodness sake?!
Never, ever, ever again. It was just too painfull.

I just happened to see this place on the way home from work one day. Having just moved here from the West Coast, I'm used to great Thai on every corner. Atlanta has some good Thai restaurants, but this is the kind of Thai I've been looking for! Truly excellent. I can't wait to go back. The Green Curry was particularly good, and the Basil Rolls were light and fresh. To top it off, the service was very attentive and sincere.

This used to be our favorite Thai restaurant and we would make it our date night spot. The last couple times we've gone the food just has not been good. It's very disappointing because we've told so many people about them, but now have to retract all the wonderful things. I'm not sure if there is a new cook, but it's been very dissatisfying. Unfortunately, we will no longer dine at Thai Palate. We don't advise anyone else either if they still have the same chef.

Good pricing and great food. Friendly service and I usually go there for Thai when I'm in town. My g/f and I frequent many Thai places and this is one of her favorite. We like it so much, I had my birthday dinner there.

I travel a lot for my work. And because I frequenty make stops to certain cities, I try to establish a list of several "good" restaurants in those cities: Atlanta is one of them.

The atmosphere and service of Thai Palate are actually very good. The food however will not satisfy Thai food lovers because flavor is just not there. I'd guess the flavors were driven from food from Malaysian? (maybe chef is Malaysian chef?)

Everytime I seek a good Thai restaurant, I order Pad Thai (noodle), Thai basil with tofu (stir-fry Thai style, name can be differerent per restaurant), and Curry dish. I've learned to do this from my college roommate from Thailand. These three types of dishes tell you a lot about spices and flavors that result from them.

In summary, Thai Palate is a good place to eat if you are looking for good food and service, but not looking for "Thai" flavor.

I eat Thai food often and decided to try a new place. The delivery took a lot longer than they said it would and the food did not make up for it. The Pad Thai I got was okay but the beef had a strange soft consistency that was not very appealing. I am also a huge fan of thom kha khai soup but this one was completely tastless and had way too much oil in it - I threw it out after two tastes of it, which is highly uncharacterisic of me given how much I love that soup. Sorry to say I would never order from here again - there is much better Thai food in Atlanta.

The first time I ate here, the dish I got was alright. My mother later confided in me that hers was terrible. I went a second time with a friend, and both of our dishes were mediocre at best. Given that the service is so slow and parking is a nightmare, there are better options for good Thai in the area.

My friend and I took a girlfriend to the Thai Palate about 6 wks. ago to celebrate her birthday. We wanted to eat before we went to the club. Well we planned to meet out front at 7 that night. Unfortunately we had to drive around the block several times to hunt for a parking space. And if you park in the Krispy Kreme parking lot next store, you risk getting towed. After about 10 minutes we FINALLY found a spot across the street from the restaurant down a side street.
Anyway we both parked our cars and went inside. We were immediatly seated. The ambiance was actually quite intimate and very nice. I definately loved the decor.
The waiter came over afer a few minutes and asked to take our drink order. Since the birthday girl was unfamiliar with Thai food the waiter was more than happy to assist. After we received our drinks we got down to ordering. That took probably about 10 minutes since not everyone knew what they wanted. Everything on the menu looked delicious. The waiter took the time to explain every dish to my friend without getting annoyed (which was good because after 10 mins I was annoyed with her!). We all finally ordered chicken dishes. I also ordered my dish w/ the yellow sauce (not too spicy).
Our food came in about 20 minutes which wasnt too bad. The waiter( who was hysterically funny) came over periodically to make sure we were ok. But not too often (you know how waiters at some restaurants can be always checking on you literally every 6 seconds).
Everything was delicious although the birthday girl didnt finish her meal. Too spcicy she said. Which was kinda silly since she wanted to go Thai.
Anyway the bill came and was quite resonable. My meal along with an Amaretta Sour and a Thai Iced Tea(I order one everytime I eat Thai) and my tip was less than $35.
All in all I had an enjoyable dining experience. ........they just need to handle that parking situation a little better.

Thai Palate is a small, cute place that has a romantic atmosphere. I am vegan, and they had a lot of vegan options available, which I was very glad about. The cold noodle appetizer with peanut sauce was the best I had there. I recommend this place, but there wasn't anything spectacular about it. It's pretty good. However, be warned, parking is a pain - you have to find street parking and you might find a spot if you're lucky.

I and a couple co-workers were seriously craving some good Thai food. Thai Palate happened to be in the area so we ordered delievery. The Delivery Man got lost and called us 3 seperate times to find the address but in the course of calling, became very frustrated and also hung up mid-converstation (3x) When he finally arrived he was very rude and spoke in an extremely loud tone, trying to undermine our intelligence asking us did we know the difference between Peachtree and West Peachtree.. soon after he had to come in the building being that we had 3 seperate orders (2 of cash, one credit card) He became even more angry b.c he was confused due to the seperate orders and the language barrier. To make a Long story short, he bacame even more loud and yelled out something in his own language, throwing his hand in the air as if fed up. The Security Guard in our building was just as disturbed and called the business to report him as a disgruntled employee with terrible customer service. I will NEVER AGAIN order from this place. I only went through with the order b.c we were hungry and our lunch time had almost come to an end. PLEASE do not waste your hard earned money on a place gives your patronage no value. THEY ARE AWFUL. To add insult to injury, my food was cold, the salad had one piece of lettuce, one tomato and a cumcumber with LOTS of ginger AND MY FAVORITE ADDITIVE, the LONG STRAND OF HAIR IN THE GINGER..MMMM TASTY!- NOT!!!!... . My Noodles were dried out and I was just unhappy with my lunch and the service. THEY DO NOT DESERVE YOUR MONEY OR YOUR TIME... you will NOT be a valued customer.

Co-workers ordered at this restaurant in hopes to be delivered hot, tasty food. Little did they know that the experience would turn terribly wrong. I walked in on the tail end of the delivery and saw faces of anger. My co-workers were upset that they were being rushed and talked to as if they weren't paying customers, people in the streets, perhaps. The delivery person looked very impatient and were rushing them to pay. As one of the co-workers tried to explain to him that the food were to be three separate orders, he became irrate and started yelling and began to suggest to them how they should pay for the food. Apparently, he didn't understand three SEPARATE orders. They were paying cash for two orders and credit for one order. After becoming irrate and this disgruntled person who apparently didn't want my co-workers business, he began to say things in his language while throwing his hands in the air. The entire situation was out of control. Our building security then called the restaurant to complain. To resolve the matter, my co-workers went ahead and paid for all three orders using the credit card. If I were you, I wouldn't waste my time nor my money on a place that lacks good customer service and employees that knows the difference between paying separately for three orders and paying altogether for one. If the delivery guy can't get it right then, what kind of business are they running at Thai Palate.

We arrived before 7pm, and we were left standing at the door for about 10 minutes. Finally someone came over and sat is in a corner table. We were starving, so we ordered appetizers and our food as soon as the second server asked for our drinks. (Except for the manager who took our order, we never saw the same person twice.) About 15 minutes after that, we'd emptied our water glasses and no one seemed to care. Finally the apps came out about 25 minutes after being ordered. We had shrimp papaya salad and cheese rolls. I hadn't been able to find papaya salad since moving to ATL, and I was excited about it. It was disappointing... there were MAYBE 2 peppers in it, and 4 little shrimp. Cheese rolls were unimpressive, and the waitress tried to take our plates while we were still eating them. At 7:45 we had once again emptied our glasses and noticed that people that came in after us were getting their food. She mentioned that we should pay for the appetizers and go somewhere else. I flagged down the manager and he asked if everything was ok. I said, "We've been here over 45 minutes and haven't seen our food yet, could you check on it?" He pulled out the notepad he'd written our order on and his eyes got wide. She works in the food service industry and said that she knew from the look that he'd forgotten to put in our order. We never saw him again. I flagged down a waitress and asked for our check and another girl comes out of the kitchen with steaming hot food. I told her we were leaving and she said she would box it up for us. (If I'd tasted it before that, I'd have told her not to bother, as both our dishes were mediocre in taste and too simple. There's more to thai food than cabbage and hot sauce, but apparently no one told them that.) Yet another person brought the bill and they didn't even comp. the appetizers! Anywhere else that failed that miserably would have comped something.

Pros: The decorations were nice, but not spectacular.

Cons: EVERYTHING ELSE. You will have PLENTY of time to look at the decorations while waiting on your food.

This is what I was told to do after I called the restaurant to let them know that the delivery order I placed was incorrect. The man that answered the phone claimed to be the owner and explained that he has hundreds of customers and spent 500K to open his restaurant - not sure how that is relevant. At any rate, he made it clear that Thai Palate does not need our business. He was belligerent (he actually yelled at me) and hung up on me. I was shocked considering that we have been to/ordered from Thai Palate numerous times in the past without any problems (except that we have noticed a definite decline in the quality of the food since the restaurant first opened). Suffice it to say, with all of the fabulous Thai restaurants in Atlanta, why go to one where the food is not so great and your business isn't appreciated.

My co-workers and I ordered from here for lunch one day and it will be the last time I ever eat anything from there again. Food is mediocre at best with the Pad Thai being rice noodles mixed with what looks to be red ready-made sauce you can pickup at any ethnic grocery stores on Buford. Our problem however is mostly with the service and attitude. We were charged $1.50 for delivery without being told there is such a charge or even notified that we were charged. I pay delivery surcharges all the time when I order out but I would like to be informed of it up front instead of having it "snuck" into my total. Also all the lunch items were priced 0.50 to $0.75 higher than what is listed on their menu. Again, it's not even the money but I don't like being suckered or lied to. They explain the difference by saying it was an old menu. They also said that lunch no longer includes soup like the menu we had said. That is fine except when we got our order the menu that was in the bag was the same old menu we had with all the wrong information. All of this coupled with the fact that the food was nothing to brag about means we will never order there for lunch again. I strongly suggest anyone to try a different Thai restaurant. With so many around midtown area I'm sure you can find one with good customer service and better food.

My husband took me there for the 1st time for lunch last week and I happened to love the atmosphere when the first time I walked in. The restaurant isn't large, yet it's romantic and relaxing. Our servers were very attentive, nice, friendly, and knowledgeable. I was introduced to the roti canai, salmon roll, seafood roll, and Orange Roughy in basil sauce. Everything was just so great. I came back to Thai Palate for a dinner to entertain my clients, and all of them rated this restaurant as A+. The food are just great, the service is very nice and friendly, and they don't overcharge you. Sometimes, you even can sit on the bar while eating and enjoying your favorite drinks such as margarita, blue kamikaze, martini, and many more. Have fun in Thai Palate and you will love this place

My husband and I moved to Atlanta about 2 years ago, and out of all the places we have dined, Thai Palate has topped the list and become our regular spot. The food is delightful, and we always feel at home there, it's extremely hospitable,
Andrew will rock your world!! All the food I have tried is very good. I highly recommend the salt n pepper tofu and the basil rolls are also excellant. Very chill music that makes the bar area a good jump off point for early evening mischief.

I would say that Thai Palate is my other favorite restaurant besides Roy's since my family moved from Maui to Atlanta. The food is amazing. I love the salmon roll, cheese roll, and the salt pepper tofu. I would also suggest that you try "Bawang Putih", "Rama", and "Spicy Seafood". The service is so gracious, the waiter/waitress are knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. Great to go on a date or as a group: lunch is always a good deal with excellent food, dinner is always something special. The restaurant itself is small, yet very cozy and well decorated. Overall, I would rate this restaurant as A rating. We just can't wait to come back.

I always come to Tamarind and Thai Chili at Colony Square when i feel like having Thai food. Once, a friend of mine introduced me to Thai Palate. As soon as I walked in, I feel the warm atmosphere, nice decor, and friendly service. My first experience happened to be terrific. The waiter/waitress are nice and knowledgable. I love the appetizer (salmon rolls) and the main dish (mango chicken). I can't really tell if the food is real Thai since they have several Malaysian dishes as well. However, the tastes really bring up my appetite. Everything was perfect on my first visit, so I'm sure I'll come back again.

I happened to move to Atlanta 5 months ago. I was,am, and will always be a fan of Malaysian and Thai food. I used to go to Holy Basil and Nyonya Cuisine in New York since they are simply just great. I've been trying several Thai/Malaysian restaurant in Atlanta, and Thai Palate is def one of my new fave restaurants intown. To keep it simple, lets just say that the decor is so cozy, with an ethnic bar setting. The food is amazing with reasonably price. The curry fried rice is one of my favorites along with panang curry, rama shrimp, salmon roll, roti canai, cheese roll, and other various desserts and mixed drinks (try the Zenbreeze, Mango Blue Hawaiian, and Cosmopolitan). The service is so gracious and impeccably polite. The waitress is such a sweet and friendly person. Worth to try on.

I ordered here once and was completely disappointed in the lack of flavor but decided to give it a second try. While atmosphere and service are nice, all three dishes lacked creativity intensity and flavor. The basic dishes are overpriced compared to others around the city. There are much, much better Thai restaurants in Atlanta.

I can't speak for the service and atmosphere as I got their delivery. It was some of the best thai food I've ever had though. I definitely reccomend the indian style pancake with curry dipping sauce.

First, I was hesitant to bring my group of 14 visiting Atlanta from Michigan (I used to bring a group to Tamarind since it's been a good place with good Thai food and great service), but at that time, some people were craving for Malaysian flavors. I decided to pick Thai Palate after a friend's suggestion. Fortunately, everyone enjoyed every portion of their food. We're seated faster than expected, everything from aperitifs to dessert were served in a timely fashion. The food was excellent, Roti Canai, Coconut Chicken, Spicy Bawang & Balacan, Rama, Curry Fried Rice, Banana Roti are great. The lunch portions are perfect to leave you full but not bloated and overstuff. The service was prompt. Therefore, we tipped our server 15% above the service charge. Suggestion: laksa&rojak should be added to menu items.

We've been eating at this place now few times following the reviews. We still couldn't believe what a magic we found. My friend and I have been eating Thai/malaysian food over the city and suburbs in search for a high quality food and service, and Thai Palate has it. Beautiful and lovely restaurant, nice decor, very authentic spices, and cozy athmosphere. I always love the Panang Curry, Spicy Belacan, and Mango Chicken. The service was excellent, not to mention that the waitress is very sweet, caring, and nice (my friend really got a crush on her due to her sweetness). The portions were enormous. Prices are reasonable, the place is a bargain for lunch. Check this place out

I love this place! This restaurant is a gem of the colorful Midtown flavor. The spices and fantastic food, make Thai Palate a great dining experience. I highly recommend their seafood roll, juicy chicken basket, delicious Panang Curry. It's fabulous. The service has been excellent for newcomers like me and my husband. The manager is incredibly nice and kind. My server was great. Not only was she knowledgable and attentive, but also very patient with my questions over the lunch selection. They treated us nicely and correctly, and for that I am so pleased. Don't miss any opportunity to try.

Inspired by the reviews, I happened to come for the first time with some of my workmates. The curry fried rice was an A rating, beautifully presented, and quite a big meal for lunch. It was so delicious. Roti canai and cheese roll are some of the best appetizers I've ever tried. The service was great, superb, and prompt . The waiter and the waitress both are knowledgeable, nice, and friendly. The price is affordable as well. I certainly will recommend this restaurant.

I found this little restaurant when a business associate took me there for lunch last Tuesday.I absolutely love this place for the first time I came in. The ambience is energetic, yet relaxing. The dishes were all beautifully served. The food is a true balance of various spices in Asian cuisine. On top of that, the service is personable, friendly, and knowledgeable. She thoughtfully explained dishes and flavors that I am not familiar with, and I am very satisfied with the tom yum shrimp and the chicken in Balacan Sauce. "Be brave to try it," as she said. I couldn't ask more than that. I would love to come back again to entertain family members, clients, and friends.

I always come to Thai Palate with some friends for lunch. Thai Palate always been successful in satisfying our needs based on the quality of the food, freshness, taste, good service, price, music, etc. Therefore, I came there on a dinner last weekend. What surprised me was the ridiculous price compared with the food presentation and the service. We ordered Mango Prawn and Fresh Seafood that were served quite late, too salty, and not beautiful at all. When we complained to our server, she just shook her head and explained that that was supposed to be. Then she just left and ignored my table. It was truly a disappointment. I WOULD RECOMMEND YOU TO TRY THEIR FOOD FOR LUNCH, AND AVOID COMING FOR DINNER

This was my first visit to Thai Palate, and I'll definitely be back. Our server was very knowledgeable, swift, and professional. When she brought us our appetiizer of Roti Canai, I knew we were in for a good meal. It was satisfying, get-your-hands-dirty finger food. The entrees were just as good; the red curry sauce was flavorful, not cloyingly sweet with coconut milk. Best of all, the portion sizes were generous--I have plenty leftover for a delicious lunch tomorrow.

In a city overrun with Thai restaurants Thai Palate stands out. It's a class act from the minute you enter the contemporary dining room. Chances are one of the owners will greet and seat you and offer you a cocktail if you wish from their full service bar. The sauces are the key to our favorite appetizers, the Thai-style fried shrimp and the roti canai. The chef's special seafood and duck dishes are delicious and tantalizingly seasoned and plated.. as are all the dishes we've enjoyed. Thai Palate will spoil you.. it will be the standard by which you measure other Thai restaurants.
