Average food. Less than average service even though there were only 4 other tables occupied the night we went. My food came out 15 minutes after my friends. Too many other good places to go in Atlanta . Won't be back.

Located down in Midtown this place is cute and small. They have good pho especially when your in the mood for Asian noodle soup. The service is very friendly and attentive.

I'm trying to think of something good to say about this over-rated restaurant. Okay, here it is: the waitresses are very pretty and pleasant.

But the food? Try sticky-sweet Chicken in a Clay P-t (I'm not allowed to use the word in this review), or tasteless, cottony chunks of Shaking Tuna (the only thing shaking was my head). The green mango salad featured lots and lots of defrosted watery shrimp...also tasteless. The beef carpaccio was good, but overpriced for the size of the portion...my partner was reduced to chewing on the pretty slices of lime that out-numbered the beef slices.

And the service, as noted in other reviews, was pleasant but poor.

I love this restaurant, but I call there the other day to order about $150 worth of food for my office and they say they don't do take out orders? How lame is that? If you're open for lunch, then you should be open to good business.

Try the Shaking Filet Mignon or the Shaking Tuna. So good. The filet is served with a combination of lime juice and spices that is delicious to dip the tender steak into.

this is the higher end chain of sister restaurant Tamarind.. same owner, same class, same great service, just a wider, bigger and somewhat fancier setting...when Tiger Woods and Vijay Singh have their own tables here, it's got to be pretty good...

I don't typically enjoy Vietnamese food. However, Nam is a rare exception. The food is simply delicious. The filet mignon is tender. The lemongrass chicken provides a combination of sweet and spicy for a tantalizing flavor. The decor is simple, stylish, and appealing. The uniformed staff only adds to the dining experience. Everyone I have either taken or told about Nam have all been pleased.

In Atlanta, on business, travelling from California. Picked out Nam for Vietnamese food based on the reviews on this site. Not one to blindly follow consensus, I checked out the website and found the menu worth trying out. Nam was a superlative experience. Small space, but impeccably appointed - languid, tasteful, detailed and hip. Service was excellent - polished and attentive. Our waiter was winningly helpful with his suggestions for sauce combinations and custom. The waitresses were lithe and graceful. The food was outstanding - delicate and prepared with care. The flavours were exquisite, complex, detailed. Wonderful experience. Enough to make us want to visit Atlanta again.

I've heard many good things about Nam and decided to give it a try. We were seated promptly and was greeted by a friendly server. He explained to us about the dishes and recommended a few. We had the quail and fried spring rolls for our appetizers and shaking filet and lemongrass tofu for dinner. Everything was EXCELLENT!! It was so delicious we went to bed craving some more. We are definitely going back.
Also the restaurant is really small but very beautiful.

I ate here recently on a friday night and the food was lackluster, service was rude and inattentive and the bottle of red wine we ordered was almost cooked. It was like they stuck it in an oven on 200 degrees for an hour before serving it to us. I will not be going back here.

Waited 15 min with a reservation.. no biggie. No Mixed drinked served, had to chase down the waitress for drink orders, could not incorporate spice into the meal, horrible sweet tea. We canceled our dinner order and left after the spring rolls. Fabulous ambience. Service not so hot.

I made reservations for six people last Saturday. When we arrived at our scheduled time, we were told (with an ugly attitude) that yes, they had our reservation, but no they could not seat us because they were having a very busy night. We were told to sit outside for drinks (in January!); our table would not be ready for at least an hour! Needless to say, we hopped on over to Apres Diem where we were served with pleasantries immediately.

I'm usually not too picky about service, but the service here stands out as being the worst I have ever had at an upscale restaurant. The server wasn't helpful and it took a very long time to take our orders. The food arrived at completely different times. My entree was served almost ten minutes after the first person in our group received theirs. Some of the food was excellent, including the fried spring rolls, the calimari and the filet mignon. However, I can't recommend the regular spring rolls or the chicken wraps.

I was definitely concerned about trying Nam with so many negative reviews in the mix; however I was not disappointed at all.

The only downside was the price. This is offered as upscale dining (with smaller portions), so the bill was almost $100 including a couple of drinks and one coffee. On to the good:

It was not too crowded, we were seated promptly with our reservation. The waiter was a little rough around the edges but very polite, made an excellent wine recommendation, and carefully showed us how to use our sauces with each plate.

We tried the tamale, seafood spring roll, sea bass, cabbage dumpling soup, eggplant, and wrapped it up with Vietnamese coffee. EVERYTHING was excellent -- nice mix of ginger, fish sauces, chili sauces, and other spices... I've eaten my share of Asian over the years, this place is definitely thumbs up.

Highly recommended!

Excellent Vietnamese dishes, authentic and full of flavor. Lemongrass beef and spicy claypot catfish are favorites, though the latter definitely has a kick. Romantic, intimate ambiance. Sweet tooths be warned there are no desserts. Try the vietnamese cafe for a caffeine boost.

My taste buds had not experienced such unique and wonderful flavors in quite some time! Your mouth will say WOW! The combination of unique spices and juices they use here is unlike anything I've experienced in other restaurants. I had the beef carpaccio app and claypot catfish and filet entrees. All very good.

As a frequent diner, I am prone to many bad meals and terrible service. I was first introduced to Nam several months following its opening. Since then, I've brought friends and family members. I am compelled to write these comments because of the consistency of my experience at Nam's. The service is impeccable and the food is amazing. Every dish that I have had there have been nothing but superior. The owner, who's been there every time I'm there, and staff have always gone out of their way to make me feel welcomed and appreciated.

my first experience at a vietnamese restaurant on buford highway was a disaster.at nam, it was a whole different experience. the food was exquisite and the setting was just delectable. it is quite hard to put a finger on what exactly they use in the food but it is irresistable and keeps me craving for more. from the quality of the food, the food is worth every cent. it may not be the fulfilling dish like ones at a buffet but who ever said that fine dining cuisine was supposed to make you so full you could burst? that is what appetizer and rice is for. fine dining is supposed to be light and very delicate. not something that would give you a heart burn. the atmosphere is so welcoming and romantic. It is a place you can get away...

I must say we loved the decor and food.

Top notch, getting high marks from the simplicity of the designs. Lighting, wall banners, mirrors within mirrors, funky tableware give a modern look. Nice touches.

Add to that the most delicious & flavorful food. Sea bass wrapped in a banana leaf was cooked perfectly, and had wonderful savory flavor. Same for the lemongrass and garlic beef.

Service is the only beat these guys missed. They're trying, it's just a few small improvements are needed. Waiter was a bit shy and timid, and often failed to take emtpy glasses away or offer to bring us more wine. No offer of dessert and coffee was made, our check just appeared shortly after the main dishes were cleared away. All easily fixable.

The prices were also very reasonable for the decor and quality of the food. I'd highly recommend you check this place out.
