So yesterday (01/11/12) I turned down a company to test for mold and other allergens in my 2/2 rental condo in Marietta for AAMT to come out because the gentleman that I spoke with at AAMT was so friendly and personable on the phone. I spoke with Michael to make an appt for the 25th (great phone customer service). He was so friendly and personable and insisted that he had an inspector already in Marietta and that he can have him come by in about an hour. Though very impressed I insisted on an appt around the 25th because I would then be able to pay. Michael insisted that it was no problem and that I can pay on the 25th with a post-dated check (since the reports would take about that long) or they could even make payment arrangements (very accomodating business people I'm thinking). I agreed and asked what the price was and was told $463. I thought it was high but then again, I only had one other quote to compare cost to and the other guy was $198. For the price, I asked if his guy could take a picture of the water damage and was told yes! Yeah, I know, $198 is a big difference from $463, but the ratings of the other company were not as high and there were not as many so, I went with the ratings. So, I agreed and the guy comes out performs an air test in my daughter's room (most affected by mold), swabs her wall as well as the carpet in her room ONLY; no other part of the condo. Before heading outdoors, he looks at my furnace (15 minutes tops for everything). I'm happy he came and I'm getting the work done finally. Before he left, I ask the not so friendly individual (was kinder to my dog than I and my family) if he would use my own camera to take a picture of an area and he refused indicating that they do not take pictures when Michael said he would. I'm thinking, WOW!!! it's with my own camera and after spending $463, why not? The guy packs up his materials and leave (not friendly at all... I was embarassed for him). I sat down at my desk, wrote the check for $463 put it in an envelope placed a stamp on it and sat it away for mailing the next morning; while doing so I call Michael to let him know the check is in the mail and that his guy would not take a picture. Michael says they take pictures often and would send the guy back. I declined the offer for obvious reasons... This evening (1/12/12) I go to AAMT's website just to get more info on what I just spent almost $500 on and learn that I was grossly overcharged.

As per AAMT's website: "Residential inspections including trip fee and written report. $187. Bulk, swab or air sample for mold spores, fibrous particulate, insect fragments, hyphal fragments, skin fragments, and pollen: $69. Radon, Dust mites, pet dander: $69 each. Commercial: $185, $250, or $350, depending sq ft."

So, I ask, why was I charged $463 for 2 air tests and swabs of one wall in one room and a peek at my furnace? Was the peek at the furnace the "inspection?" Can we say "Stop Payment"...????? Not cool Michael!!!! However, you live and you learn; don't trust the happy voice over the telephone when conducting business and high ratings/reviews can often be family members, friends or even the owners themselves posting them. I called the other company and was quoted $198 for two air tests, swabs and a report. The water damage is very visible to the untrained eye and is documented by photos (my own digital camera) so what's the need of an inspection?

I met Rich Johnson of Air Allergen & Mold Testing through a friend who used to work for him. If you are experiencing allergy symptoms, I recommend giving him a call.

Often allergies are caused by allergens in the air you breathe such as mold spores and pollen. Richard takes air samples, performs lab tests and provides a report to his customers that explains what's in the air they are breathing and the steps they can take to improve their air quality.

Based upon what I've learned from Richard, it makes a lot of sense to know what's in the air you're breathing inside your home and office. The steps taken to improve your air quality are often inexpensive and easy to do.

By having an air quality assessment performed, you'll learn about what's in the air you're breathing and how to improve the quality of the air for you, your children, family, friends, and co-workers.

I recommend Rich, Air Allergen & Mold Testing because he's honest, professional, reliable, knowledgeable, and also affordable.

Came right away; gave me testing options to keep the cost down. Issued a thorough report with options for addressing mold. Lots of inperson consult on how to approach remediation step by step in a cost effective way.

They were able to tell me what kind of mold was in my house and what the air quality was like. They told me how much dust was in the air also. I just had my air ducts cleaned and there was mole in there as well. Thanks

Air Allergen & Mold Testing came to my home and gave me some valuable information during the inspection process which prompted action on my behalf that probably would not have been taken causing the remediation company to do further work on my home., I believe they are principally a good company and I would use them again to do testing for me.

Mr. Johnson was the most compassionate individual I have ever spoken with over the phone. He listened to my every word and was sincerely concerned with my familys health and wellness unlike my landlord unfortunately. His team of two gentlemen who came to my home were WONDERFUL and very detailed. They explained everything to me and even gave information about repairs needed to make this home safe again. John and Michael were AWESOME. I would recommend this team to all my friends. Thanks again everyone.
