Great food, friendly service... Outdoor seating to relax in their cute garden and being in the middle of a cute neighborhood right near Piedmont Park. Dog friendly too!

Pros: Parking and Food!!!

Bab's is our hands down favorite weekend brunch spot in Midtown. I expect we'd add a weekday lunch rotation as well if we didn't work OTP.

Love the atmosphere. Love the owner and staff. Love the high quality and reasonably priced food and desserts. Love that we have a small, sole-proprietor neighborhood breakfast and lunch spot in Midtown that recognizes and values locals. Babs is a "hidden gem" among all the new "concepts" that pop up and disappear regularly.

Bab??s is one of those ??hidden gems? you read about and think ??why can??t I find one of those??

Tucked away under a red awning on the side of one of those grand old Atlantan houses on Juniper, Bab??s is a throwback to a fun, funky and friendly time where homemade cooking means something and the menu isn??t cut out of a corporate office in NYC.

Though the menu changes weekly, I??d recommend the Stromboli Eggs when they??re available. Or ask about a variation on them. The potatoes are always good, as are the homemade soups. (P.S. I love their Sangrias too.)

The staff will treat you like they??ve always known you and you??re a cherished regular. So be prepared for a little good-spirited banter.

Rumor has it they may start opening for Friday Night cocktail and appetizers, which if you??re like me is great news! If you like the idea, you might want to even mention it to them.

The city needs more places like this to keep us vibrant and unique and not all chains, so go support them!

Pros: Good homemade food+

Cons: Limited hours

Babs is just the perfect neighborhood place. Randy and his staff are always friendly and welcoming. The food is different than most of the cold chain restaurants in Midtown...thank goodness! Its just different enough to be fresh without being precocious or snotty. Look for the latest fashion statement on the pink flamingo...it changes more often than a hostess at the Oscars!

Pros: Sweet Potato Fries with Curry Sauce

Cons: Not open for dinner

My wife and I go to Babs every other week or so (sometimes more often) and love it. The food is wonderful and consistent. They are willing to make whatever you want. The coffee is great and your cup is always full. Randy, the owner, is always on top of things and always entertaining the customers - as long as you like a little NY sense of humor. Highly recommended and there's never a long wait.

Babs is a great place for brunch on the weekends and lunch during the week. I always enjoy going to Babs because I know the menu will change but the food is always going to be good. The atmosphere is fun and cozy with great personal service from the owner. I do not go every weekend but when I do I always get the sweet potato fries, maybe the best in the city.

Sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name. And this is that kind of place. The owner and servers are always friendly and funny. They make you feel right at home. And the food is always delicious!

It's one of my favorite places to go in Midtown. I love it, and you will too!

I have been going to Bab's ever since it opened. It is such a nice comfortable environment! I can't tell you how many times I've had my breakfast or lunch served to me on the coffee table while I sit on the couch catching up on the Creative Loaf! Their food is delicious, and I'm a sucker for their sweet potato fries! Oh yeah, if you sit on the patio you can bring your dog!!!

This was our first, and last, meal at Babs. We ordered Juniper Street Wraps (one with turkey sausage, and one Vegetarian), with potatoes and fruit. The ?fruit? was a ? inch orange garnish. The potatoes were good. The Wraps could NOT be eaten. The coffee mug had grounds on the rim. The assortment of tea bags had been fingered so much by past customers that the paper packages were torn and faded.

After 20 minutes, the waiter came over and seeing that we hadn't eaten, asked if the food was ok. Now, we hadn't planned on saying anything...but since he asked, we did tell him that the food didn?t taste quite right, and we just couldn?t eat it. Well. The waiter proceeded to loudly proclaim, so that ALL the diners could hear, that they?ve served thousands of those egg wraps. IN FACT he eats one every day. And NO ONE has EVER complained that they were not good. So, MAYBE IT WAS US. BUT, he would NOT want us to pay for food that we did not like, so he was NOT GOING TO CHARGE US. We quickly insisted that that wasn?t our intent and we wanted to pay for the meals, but he angrily said that ?no, but after you leave, I will personally taste your food to see if there is anything wrong with it?. And then walked away in a huff to the next table, where he said ?Well, I hope you?re not going to want vegetarian?.

Suffice it to say, we were completely astonished at this waiter?s rude and condescending reaction, and we were a bit embarrassed by all the other diners staring at us and wondering what we had done to inspire such an outburst.

After a few minutes, I called the waiter back over to our table, and again told him we wanted to pay for the meal, and again, he angrily refused. After a few minutes more, we made our way to the exit, but before leaving, the waiter stopped us in the aisle and icily said, ?Well, I do hope you have a Merry Christmas?. We will. And knowing we will never go back to Babs will make it a great New Year, too!

Pros: Great setting: cozy basement of an old Midtown house

Cons: Food, wait staff

I have visited this restaurant twice. My first time was for Sunday brunch, and the food and service were both excellent. However, my second visit was for Saturday breakfast. The menu had changed, and we had trouble deciding what to order. The menu was too "out there" and not much to choose from for a basic breakfast. In addition, I agree with the previous reviewer that the staff was "testy." The server acted as though it was a bother to serve me. To top that off, I just checked my bank account and apparently the server decided that my 15% tip was not enough and added more money to the tip amount. Fortunately, I caught the error and corrected it with the bank. Makes you wonder....hmmm.

Pros: Food tasted good

Cons: Service

Babs is set in the basement of a house. The basement is brick w/ barrel vaulting and open on 2-sides which lends to its quaint and cozy atmosphere, yet allows light to enter brightening up the space. It's cute and the food is tasty. Tasty but not necessarily healthy. The menu is constantly changing and always themed. Been here a few times and each time, the service and the food has not been consistent. On its good days the food is delicious and the servers jovial. On its worst the food was not up to par (undercooked potatoes) and the testy servers gave snappy retorts. Hoping that this place would be a regular brunch stop because of its close proximity, we sadly decided not to take our chances at starting our morning off on the wrong foot by having breakfast here until the staff relaxes and is less angry.

Well, we went to Babs a few times a few years ago. Usually Sunday brunch. Decided at one point that it wasn't the cleanest place. Looked like the plates and silverware weren't washed very well etc...Just got a bad vibe. Went back in 4/29/2010. Food still not bad but still seeing the same dirty silverware and glasses. Got up from an outdoor table and had dirt all over my shirt. Suggest they clean things up a whole whole lot.
