I have been going to Don Shaw for about 32 years! Don is amazing in the work that he does as are his colorists. I have read the reviews written and I know Don very well and can tell you if you have any issue whatsoever, he will fix it! Don is like family to me. I was very ill for many years and he would just appear in my hospital room and do my hair! Don has done so many things for so many that many don't even know about. Don is the best in his craft and I have seen some of the very best in my life. His son Jim is also fantastic as is Demetrios! Sara is an excellent colorist!

I had my hair cut by Don Shaw. I gave him full reign on style. I was there for no longer than 20 minutes, he had me stand and cut the back, touched up the front and out the door I went. He wasn't overly friendly or talkative, just took care of business and went on. The salon was clean and friendly.

I've been to dass at peremeter mall a few times. I found a colorist I really liked and she left. I feel like there is a very high turn over rate watch is kinda scary. I always felt like now one really cared about you. I was just sent form person to person. One did my color, a different person did my shampoo, then another did my cut. No very personable. I would not go here! So I found a new salon , Moda salon and spa, and they treat you like you want to be treated like a person. Oh and my apponiment is always schelded right at moda. I will never be back to dass. It's not worth my money!!!

I was a regular client at the Don Shaw Mall of Georgia location for over 5 years and for most of that time period, I was very happy with my cut, color and style. However, the last few times I was at Don Shaw Mall of Georgia I had an unpleasant experience, which I think is unacceptable considering how outrageously expensive this salon is. The last time I had an appointment, like several other reviewers mentioned, I was double-booked with other clients and I was at the salon for over 4 hours just to receive partial highlights and a trim! Also, the colorist did a good job with my highlights, but she noticed I was pregnant and then proceeded to lecture me during the entire coloring process that, since I'm preganant, I should be married and kept asking me all these questions about my personal life that were clearly none of her business. I wanted to 'go off' on her, but I was afraid she'd ruin my hair-if I did. So, I just sat there, embarassed and fuming. There is a big turn over, which I sure happens with alot of salons, but if I found a sylist I liked, they either left, or quickly raised their prices to amounts that were just outrageous. My sister still goes to this salon and pays over $200 for highlights and a trim of an already short haircut. Ridiculous - especially in this economy!

Pros: Stylists and colorists are skilled

Cons: Too time-consuming, overpriced, staff not friendly

For a mid-price salon, I would expect more in customer service and styling. Colorist seem decent but not creative. Stylists are hit or miss. If you are looking for 60 year old Preacher's wife hair, great salon then.

After a mistake in booking, Don Shaw ended up cutting my hair. I didn't make a big deal but he noticed I didn't look happy. I explained and he certainly didn't have to do it himself as another stylist was available. He clearly wanted to do whatever it took to make sure I was a satisfied client. He did a great job and I am really happy with my new style.

Terrible and very scary. I just had my hair colored yesterday. This morning I woke up with red welts on the side of my face and and my entire head is burning. I called the phone number on the card I took from the salon and when I called I was told I had reached the main center and that I could not be forwarded to the salon in Buford, GA where I got my hair done and that I could not have the number to call there. I was told that is how they do business. I told the girl I was in much pain from my scalp burning and I needed to talk with a manager since I was told the hair colorist who did my hair was not in today. She stated she would have someone call me back. Six hours later I still had no call back and my scalp was burning all day and I had become more concerned about the situation. I called again and was told someone would call me back. I informed the girl on the phone that I wanted to talk to a manager at her call center and she connected me with the manager (I do have a list of all the people and times I called but don't feel it necessary to put in writing at this time -I FEEL IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO KEEP A LIST ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU ARE GETTING THE RUN AROUND) who told me she could put me into someone elses voicemail. I asked her if she understood I was in pain and she said she would put me in voicemail. As I was talking with her she either disconnected me or attempted to put me in someones voicemail. At this point I just started crying. I received a call about30 minutes later from one of the girls at the salon I got my hair done at and she stated that the manager that was in this morning should have called me and that she would contact her by cell phone and have her call me right back. It is 10:00PM and no one has contacted me. I am extremely worried about the condition of my scalp and the longtime effects of the burns. I have been unemployed for some time, do not have insurance but tomarrow may try to have to find money to get to a doctor. This is unbelievable.

Its to bad I had to place a lien on his house because he just could'nt communicate with me in a civil manner and of coarse would'nt pay for our outstanding work. Everytime i go to this salon something changes for the worse. They have a very high turn-over rate and no longer allow you to put tips on your credit card. You actually have to make an extra trip to the ATM to go to this salon. I went in this weekend to find out that they no longer accept american express, either. Sounds to me like they are in financial trouble.

A bigger and flashier spa can make you feel alienated but my stylist always remembers me even though I come in every 3 months. She always starts with a great consultation and fantastic final results. Definately ask for Molly. Front desk staff could use some warming up, I always hate when there's no acknowledgment after you walk in the door. But when you get past them the shampoo people are very friendly and contrary to the other reviews I've never had to wait with Molly, she's always on time.

I've gone to DASS for years - primarily b/c I haven't found another stylist to replace the one I have now that is so-so.

My chief complaint about this place is the double-booking. You go in for an 11:30 appt and at 11:45, your stylist is still working on the previous client. At 12:10, you sit in the chair, and 5 mins later, another client sits down next to her. This happens EVERY time I come for a cut or color. They seem to let walk-ins come in and displace those that had an appt and were already there.

You can park Valet at Perimeter and they'll stamp you.
