This place used to be great but the last few times I've gone it was awful!! The last time the staff was rude when I went in, my spicy tuna roll was soggy and my shrimp spring rolls smelled so bad I had to throw them in the trash. I will

Great sushi creations. They have a special menu that changes often. The owners are super nice. Sonny remembered us the second time we went there. Must try their Tempura Smore for dessert. Hopefully they will keep it on the menu.

In from Memphis for a one-night business trip, did my homework online and chose dinner at Maru Sushi. And boy am I glad I did! The owner chef and his wife were extremely personable and warm and made you feel right at home. My request for sushi recommendations brought a wonderful selection of ingenious rolls, which were absolutely terrific! Sitting at the sushi bar, the conversation with the chef was both entertaining and fascinating watching him create his masterpieces on the plate. Thanks for an enjoyable dinner! Will DEFINITELY visit again on my next business trip to Atlanta.

Pros: Friendly atmosphere, enjoyable conversation with chef, unique and great-tasting sushi!

Cons: Unfortunately, did not get to experience the Sushi Buffet for dinner. Maybe I'll do lunch next time!

We are from LA and NY and have had our fair share of excellent sushi. This is definitely the place to go. The owner knows his stuff. He will make it any way you want and always loves to hear things that you like. If you are a more shy sushi eater (we eat everything), they definitely have things on the menu for someone more mainstream. Sushi buffet is great and very reasonable, but we really like it for dinner best. You will not be disapointed. It's casual, but still has a little flair to it.

Pros: super fresh, great price, really nice staff, will make whatever you want

Cons: Not open on Sunday is really the only thing I can think of

Got tired of another sushi place in Smyrna, so we tried Maru Sushi on a whim one night. We were so pleasantly surprised, that we have not returned to the other place since! The fish is always fresh, the selection is HUGE (you can basically get anything you want - no matter how "safe" you want to play it with basic rolls, or how adventurous you'd like to be). They'll even let you customize a roll for yourself if you'd prefer that. We always receive great service, the owners are friendly and attentive, and we've been recommending Maru Sushi to friends ever since we first tried it...so that says something!

Pros: Fresh fish, consistently good/fast service, nice ambience, great sushi buffet at lunch

Maru Sushi has the best sushi lunch in Atlanta. I love the buffet because it is stocked with fresh, delicious nigiri. Unlike RuSan's, the nigiri at Maru Sushi is made with the correct amount of rice and the quality of the fish is 10 times better. Maru Sushi provides a more authentic Japanese dining experience and the price can't be beat (approximately $11-12 after tax and tip). Service is great. I also believe this place is Japanese owned and operated and I think that makes a difference. The only downside is its location. It seems to be out of the way. However, the drive is well worth it and I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes true Japanese sushi.
