Went in at 9:am on Saturday morning and told Bill what I thought the problem was (which I Googled), he demanded we do the diagnostic to be sure (for $31). Told me how much it would be, I told him do the job. He then called me at 4:30pm and said the problem was something else (exactly what I told him I thought the problem was). Not to mention it would be an extra $600, but since the parts place is closed we can't do it until Monday. I told him to stop where they are and give me my car back. 1 Decatur auto cost me a whole Saturday, money and they stole my engine cover to boot. I will never return and Bill screw you!!!!

I was told by this repair shop I needed a power steering pump. I took the car in with it only leaking fluid. I paid 500+ for the repairs. I picked the car up and after driving it for a short while it started squealing. I called back for

My husband started using #1 Decatur for all our trucks when he got a good price on a repair. About a year later we noticed that we started having to go back to get things that they fixed, fixed. Last March they replaced the upper and lower ball joints on a '96 Jimmy. In April, it had to go back to have the upper control arm bushings replaced. Another mechanic told us that normally they are done at the same time. Double labor to take apart and put together the same parts for both jobs, although we did argue them into no charge for the second alignment. Recently we discovered the both driver side ball joints they replaced just 11 months ago were cracked, squashed and look dry-rotted. Took it back to them today (2/15/2010) showed it to them, and manager(owner?) just said, huh, they usually don't do that, sorry nothing I can do. Granted, the warranty was only 3 months, but it looks like he either re-used old parts, or just didn't replace it the first time. A second fix-again story is our '83 Blazer. Engine was running rough when we bought it. 10/23/08: adjusted carburetor. 11/12/08: rebuilt distributor & coil. 11/14/08: carb choke sticking. Got less than 1/4 mile and it was trying to stall when you hit the gas. Turns out they tied off something on the choke onto the throttle cable; hit the gas, throttle opened choke and stalled. I am posting this simply as a "buyer beware" to CHECK EVERYTHING this shop does. Barbara, Chamblee

I have a MINI Cooper and was looking for a service center near home and less expensive than a dealership. A friend recommended these guys and it was great.

I needed my transmission serviced and my usual non-dealer service guy didn't have a lot of experience with MINIs and said to take it to the dealer, which I definitely did not want to do, too expensive!

Phuong, at #1 Decatur Pro Auto Repair, took the time to discuss the service I wanted done (flush and fill the transmission) and was familiar with the make/model of my car. They were honest about the time it would take and cost of the service. Best of all, they didn't try to tell me I needed a bunch of other things done to the car, like the dealers like to do.

This shop is quite busy, which I think is a sign of good work AND that they don't need to fleece everyone. They're just there to do a quick and efficient job.

Overall, I went away feeling I had gotten the service I paid for and hadn't been taken advantage of, which is something I am wary of in the auto service industry, being that I am a female.
