I would like to thank the wonderful staff at this office for not only losing $1500 earnest money and $518 appraisal fee but also losing the whole house. This office had my contract in hand January 15, 2009. They charged me for an appraisal January 26th. After repeated phone calls and emails from myself and my real estate agent, Countrywide finally returned our calls Feb 13th. They said there would be no problem in meeting the close date of February 17th. Feb 17th, the day we were suppose to close, I found out that the appraisal I paid for Jan 26th had not even been performed yet.Feb. 18th, the day after we were suppose to close, Countrywide sent me a whole list of items they needed completed - these had nothing to do with the appraisal, they were items they had forgotten to provide me in processing the loan. They then decided to order an appraisal the day of the closing! My agent was able to get a one week extention for a closing on Feb 24th. February 26th, two days after the extended closing date, Countrywide still has not come forward with any date for closing. The seller has now put the property back on the market and I have now lost the $1500 earnest money. If you have money to lose - use Countrywide - they will at least take care of that need. Thanks for a horrible experience.
