Visiting Tanner Breast Health was one of the worst medical experiences I have ever had. First of all, I was not told that I needed the films from previous mammograms which were done in the town where I used to live. So, I went for the appointment, waited, was taken back and finally got to see the technician that would do the mammogram. Then I was told they could not do the exam without the films. But this was not the worst part. The technician also said, "We have to have the films, especially if you are having a problem." I didn't know I was having a problem!! She then said, "Didn't your doctor tell you that you had a lump in your breast?" And my answer was, "NO, she did NOT!" All my doctor said was, "It seems like there are some changes." The technician was very rude, accused me of telling the person that registered me that I had never had a mammogram when that is not what I told her; I said, "I have never had one HERE." It was very scary to have a technician say, "You have a lump," when my doctor had said nothing like that. I think she was trying to play doctor. And besides all of this, when they take you back, you change your clothes and wait in this little room all by yourself. I didn't like that either. You need to sit with other people who are feeling and wondering the same thing you are: "What if they find something?" "How bad will this hurt?" On the way out of this office, the technician said, "Make sure you stop at the table on the way out and have a cold drink and some refreshments, you've had a hard day!" The very last think I wanted to do was sit in that office and have refreshments. It would be one thing if I was the only one that had experienced this kind of treatment; but many of my friends have had similar problems at Tanner Breast Health where they were made to feel as though they had breast cancer and were going to die when that was not the case. I promptly left the office and made an appointment at Kennestone in Marietta for the mammogram. Boy, what a different experience. The people couldn't have been nicer or more professional. All the women sat in the waiting room together after changing into the robe for the exam. Although I had to have several films taken and an ultrasound done, I kept being re-assured by the staff that I shouldn't worry yet, they just wanted to be thorough. I will NEVER go back to Tanner!!!!!!!
