I enjoy a good massage for the relaxation and the health benefits. I like trying different places to compare therapists' techniques. I have twice been to Massage Envy, once here in Atlanta and another in Scottsdale, Arizona. The one (and only) massage that I have had at Massage Envy here in Atlanta was without doubt the worst massage that I have ever had. I'm athletic and enjoy working out and staying in good shape, as a result my muscles are always a little tight. I asked her several times to stop doing a particular technique and she continued to do it. While on a business trip in Arizona, I thought that I would try it again to check if maybe that one therapist was just bad. Nope. The massage in at Massage Envy in Scottsdale sucked as well. Not a relaxing environment and they are more worried about how much of a tip they are going to get than they are with making sure that you are happy and satisfied.

After noticing the rating I decided to write. I have been a customer since they opened - about four years I think. I am also a fan of massage and find it healing and theraputic as well as relaxing. I have had either regular or frequent massages for the last 15 years so I can easily compare these therapists with others I've had, including those at expensive spas. I find the therapists at Massage Envy at least adequate and usually good to very good. For me the fact that i can book at the last minute has been great. If I am not crazy about the therapist, I remember their name and choose someone else the next time. I like the monthly plan - the rate is very reasonable and it makes it more likely that I get at least one massage a month. If you want a longer massage or a second (or third), the rate is very reasonable. My experiences with the front desk have been uniformly positive. If I have to leave a message, they are prompt at getting back to me. I am sorry someone else had a bad experience but I recommend the Massage Envy at Roswell East to friends

Pros: Good therapists, very affordable

Cons: Not all therapists are GREAT (not all people are either)

I'll admit that I'm a massage snob, having had one twice a month for the last 15 years. I became a member in '05 at the Buckhead location. When I heard M.E. was opening one in Roswell east, I was overjoyed. That was until my first 2 sessions. Horrible therapists and horrible receptionists. Then last year I gave it another try and found an excellent therapist who knew neuromuscular therapy but she left for medical reasons. I was crushed but was surprise when I found another therapist there who is phenomenal. John is very knowledgeable about his craft. He listens and works with me on critical areas. I always walk out of there feeling 200% better than when I arrived. He is amazing!
Receptionists on the hand are not quite amazing but they are better than when the place first opened. I just wish that if John is booked with someone who did not request him that management would switch therapists.
So if you haven't been back because of bad past experience, give them (and John) a try.

Pros: Very Professional Therapist

Cons: Receptionist(s) need(s) some training in customer service

It appears that anyone that has anything to say about this place is unanimous in there opinion that this place is overall horrible. First let me say that when you walk into a situation and that little voice tells you to walk away...you should always listen to it. The women that work behind the counter look like they woke up from a shelter and were given "massage envy clothing" to put on. They are not friendly and unapologetic for you having to wait. The person that gave me a massage smelled like an old sock and the massage given to me was the worse I have ever received!! There is a reason they are cheap. It is expected that you will walk into a calm and inviting atmosphere and receive a massage worth paying for. I would've regretted my massage from this place even if it only cost me 5 bucks...the value meal from McDonalds I had afterwards was more enjoyable...and i didn't regret it afterwards. If you are reading these reviews, then strongly consider going somewhere else. So far, Spa Sydell has the best massages, best atmosphere and most professional staff...so that your experience....when having to pay for a massage...is enjoyable relaxing from start to finish and although you spend more...you don't ever leave regretting the money you spent. Take heed and DO NOT VISIT THIS PLACE

Pros: None

Cons: Disgusting from Receptionist to What they call Masseuse

.

I went to this place because they advertised cheap massages. Well, the phrase...you get what you paid for...certainly applies here. The "massage therapists" are not experienced and horrible. I remember thinking afterwards that I would have paid to not have the massage. I don't care if their prices go down to 10 dollars...I would never go again or recommend them to anyone. The front desk help are rude and uncaring. They need find a job where they don't have to deal with the public. Don't waste your time or money with this place. Pay the extra money and go to Spa Sydell or Zenergie. You truly get what you pay for.

Cons: Sneaky Cancellation Policy-Horrible Massages

I also went to this place because of the advertised cheap massages. Well, cheap is right. They don't give you a 60 minute massage. They start ten minutes late and stop ten minutes early and everything inbetween an imbecile could have done. The women behind the counter that work there are unapologetic and rude. They just want to try and get you into a contract. DO NOT SIGN UP!!!. They get you to sign up won't let you cancel. I've unfortunately wasted three trips there. The first massage was not good...but I justified it by telling myself I only spent $39 dollars. The second one ...same thing...and finally the third was horrible. Yes other places cost more, but you never feel like you wasted your money. This place make you feel crappy about the lousy thirty nine bucks. I agree with everyone else. Stay away from this place. Spend a little more and go somewhere else...ANYWHERE ELSE!!!

Pros: NONE

Cons: HORRIBLE MASSAGES

.

Whatever you are thinking, just stay away from this place...unless you like to spend money or like really bad massages. I had an introductory massage that was so bad. It was like having my half asleep husband rubbing me. I asked for very firm and all they did is rub circle around on my back. I actually wanted to get up and strangle the guy. NOT VERY RELAXING!! Even though it was very inexpensive...I will NEVER GO BACK.
From the first phone call to set up the appointment the girl who answered was rude and kept putting me on hold. When I went in for the appointment, some tall, skinny dirty blonde women who looked overtired and malnourished told me I had the wrong appointment time. I told her I JUST GOT OFF THE PHONE WITH HER and to check again. She then realized I did have an appointment but didn't apologize. She was not very nice and kind of nasty. Then I waited and 15 minutes late the therapist comes out to get me. He was young and smelled bad. The massage was horrible and all I could smell was his bad breath. It was such a bad experience. The same rude lady that checked me in also checked me out and asked how my massage was. I told her it was actually horrible and she said, oh...yeah, some other people have said so as well. Again didn't apologize or offer a refund or discount for my next visit. Well, I will visit this place again!!! I would never recommend this place to anyone and strongly advise people to keep looking. I know they advertise for cheap...but it's not worth it!! This place is horrible...from the staff that greets you and checks you in to the massage and massage therapists they have.

Pros: Cheap

Cons: Worse massage therapists and massages

I had heard from a couple of people about Massage Envy and their monthly membership packages ... Since I love massage and would like for it to be more affordable, I decided with a friend to check it out on a recent Sunday afternoon. The good news was the cost was cheap and we got right in ... Now I know why. The massage was awful. I asked for firm NOT deep tissue and the therapist didn't know the difference and could not speak English well. He beat on me which I've only had one other time in all my years of getting massage and that was when I was really in need of some deep tissue work. It was rushed and not at all relaxing. The therapist was nice but the experience was awful. I will pay a little more and go to Zenergize where I feel I get treated like a client not a number. The atmosphere is clean but not at all relaxing and they even charged me $1 for water when I left. I won't be going back ....
