No need for a reservation on a Friday night. The food was good, the value so-so, but the location was a little weird...in the middle of nowhere right before the restaurants on Howell Mill Road. Warning; the warm is very warm, the hot is very hot.

I love Thai and I heard from friends that Spoon was a great, reasonable Thai place. I went for lunch with my husband and even though the food was ok, it was not that great and it was a little pricey. We have eaten 100 times better in Surin in the highlands for way less money. Also, the windows' decoration were all dirty and full of dust...maybe a little cleaning once and a while would not be a bad idea. I would not recommend the place, just be cause there are so many other places in the city that have really good Thai.

Cons: the food was just ok

This place is consistently delish and a great place to find some authentic Thai food in the city. Service can be so-so at times, but overall I've never had a bad experience here. And another added plus is that there is free parking! I would recommend Spoon to anyone who's in need of some good panang curry - yum!

Easily the best Thai in town at the moment. Decor is just OK, service is authentically incomprehensible, but man-o-man - the food - the food is just fantastic. I have tried about 1/2 of the menu, and it is all good! (And remember, folks - most people go our to a restaurant for the FOOD. It's fine to note that it's a little hard to find (it's NOT), that the parking is around the corner (it IS), that many of the staff are Thai (so you may have to work a bit to understand them), and that the decor isn't stunning it is acceptably modernesque-generic, BUT, RATE IT FOR THE FOOD. And for goodness sake, if you 'don't like Thai food'. just don't rate it - it's a Thai restaurant! (I'm just sayin'...) Enough of the rant - this place is good - really good - and if you DO like authentic Thai, you WILL like this place - a lot...

Pros: Seriously - the best Thai food in Atlanta

Cons: Not the best location, decor, service (but those are OK!)

The thai iced tea is great, and the massaman curry is one of the best that I've had. Its close to Downtown and Midtown, but not on any main strip. So you have to know its there.

I drop by there occasionally for lunch, and its always pretty quick to pop in and right out.

They have great decor also, and its a great spot for dates.

What can I say except about this cute little place other than it is absolutely charming and has fan-thai-stic food.

I had the sweet and sour chicken with a little kick of spice and thoroughly enjoyed it. The cheese rolls were sublime and I had the best glass of unsweet (sorry, from the north here) iced tea I think I've ever had.

Our server was great, too.

Go - now.

I love this place. The thai food is spectacular; and they have some great vegetarian options. The food is consistent, and the specials are always creative. Try the thai tea martini; i drink it in like 5 seconds. The interior design is a superb asian-modern. I wish it was open later, but that is my issue with all Atlanta restaurants.

The very first time I had gone was for a GIRLS AFTERNOON, and I haven't stopped going since! Everyone I have turned on to it, has gone back! I would definitely reccommend you trying it at least once! Great place for an intimate date. The seating is close together but the atmosphere that it creates makes the experience all worth while. NO WAIT, JUST GREAT!!

The food here is so delicious and fresh! Dishes are very unique, pefectly spiced, with lots of flavor. My boyfriend and I really enjoyed the veggie tempura (not too oily, with fresh veggies), all the vegetarian options (can order entrees with or without meat), and the blueberry spring rolls for dessert. These were divine! Served with coconut ice cream and mango sauce, it really topped off the meal. Our server was extremely friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was great. Nice place to impress a date.

Spoon is a good lunch spot in the Means Street area. I'm not a big fan of Thai, but the food is fresh and spicy! Service is decent, though not always attentive. The only drawbacks are - the seating, it's very tight and not comfortable - and the noise, it gets extremely loud.

This is a great place for a reasonably priced date. We were seated immediately around 6:30 on a wednesday. I highly recommend the tempura calamari, and the golden red snapper entree. Everything was served very hot, and service didn't slow down even when a group of about 15 came in (I happened to notice they all got served simulatneously, with steam rising from the bowls). So all in all the service and food are great, we will be returning!

This place is my new lunch haven. The food is incredible and the staff is so attentive and pleasant. My husband and I were just driving around one day looking for somewhere to eat lunch and we popped in and I have been going there ever since, at least once a week. I have never been disappointed. I have suggested it to my coworkers as well and they have also been blown away.

Spoon was everything it was advertised to be. They serve very good AUTHENTIC Thai food, and the service was impecable. My waiter constantly checked in on our party, and he made sure we had everything we needed, and that the food was to our liking. He was not Thai, but he knew the menu extremely well and impressed everyone in our party. The top 25 dessert mousse cake our waiter told us about did not dissapoint and i will definitely come back to enjoy another one of those after my meal. I had the Golden Snapper and it was absolutely delicious. My wife had the Double Soft Shell Crab, and she had nothing but good things to say about it. Great place for a quick bite to eat, but at the same time a great place for a romantic dinner. The bartender is very talented and he made us very good drinks. This is defintely one of the top Thai restaurants in the city of Atlanta

Read the good reviews and decided to try. This was the most somber, unsmiling unfriendly service I've seen in a while. No one greeted us as we entered, they just said "Do you have a reservation?" and proceeded to seat us (that's a good thing for a Friday night). No one smiled, there was no rapport apparent among the servers, and our server, who never introduced himself made us feel kind of stupid with his flat affect as we attempted to be friendly customers. His vibe was like "just place your order & eat your food 'cause I could care less." The food was mediocre in my opinion, and it was plopped down on our table in sticky bowls with no presentation whatsoever by another unsmiling person who brought our food. Although the price was reasonable for their "classic Thai" dishes, the lack of presentation and the sticky bowl made it more of a $6.99 meal than the $11 meal that it was. The Thai iced tea was lukewarm with a little rapidly melting ice at the top. Even their award winning chocolate mousse dessert was ok, but I didn't get "Top 25 Desserts in Atlanta" from it. What made us decide not to come back was when the hostess came and hovered by our table and gave us an "oh, you're still here" look, again with no smile or engagement and then no one said "good-bye" "thank you" "come again" or any of the things that you expect from a fine dining establishment after you've dropped $40 for a beef bowl, iced tea and chocolate pudding. That same hostess actually looked at us in the doorway and then just looked away as we were leaving(we think we're nice-looking people:) It was just a bummer. After reading the reviews I still don't get it. Mediocre food, unfriendly service and $5 to park? Why bother when there are so many better places.

Pros: Able to get a table without waiting on a Friday (wonder why?)

Cons: Poor sound system, unhappy-looking staff

We arrived at 12:30 for a weekday lunch and did not have to wait to be seated, but the crowd picked up closer to 1:00pm. The tables are a bit crowded and the plastic cups that they serve beverages in are scratched and dingy looking-- not appealing. However, my panang with chicken was very good, not overpriced, and was served pretty quickly. I would have preferred a lunch special that included a drink and a spring roll or something of that nature...

What a wonderfully designed urban spot for Thai cuisine. I finally had the opportunity to see what the fuss is all about....I ordered the Massamun Curry with Chicken and coconut soup with shrimp...excellent! My friend had Samros(3 flavored stir fry ) it was bold and tasty. Great atmosphere...ambiance...definitely a place for a romantic date!

I tried Thai last night with my bf and our out-of-town guest from Costa Rica. My bf & I are both vegetarians and they kindly made a commonly beef dish (Beef Num Tok) with tofu for us. We also had the red curry w/ tofu. They don't even charge extra for the tofu like they do a meat or chicken dish, which is nice. Our service was excellent; our drinks (great espresso martini) were brought out quickly and so was our food. The setting is very intimate and romantic and I think it would work for any occasion! I will definitely be back to Spoon to try more of their spicy dishes.

I'm almost afraid to write such a glowing review because I fear Spoon will become "trendy", "crowded", and overrun with hipsters looking to spoil the novelty. I'll stop being selfish now and just say that the food is ridiculously good, the atmosphere is chic, and the waitstaff are charming. Bon a petit!

I first found this restaurant from a the concierge while I was staying at the Weston Hotel.
This is the best Thai food I have ever had which is a HUGE complement because I eat Thai food as much as possible. This restaurant has a warm and inviting atmosphere, as well as, a very personable staff. The food is very consistant in flavor and presentation. Additionally, they offer a variety of wine's & a bartender who can whip up something for everyone. I have now been back to Spoon three times in my last two visits to Atlanta, so it has become one of my personal favorites for many reasons. The restaurant is owned by 3 siblings and you really get a sense of the food coming out of a family's kitchen. Everything I have tasted has it's own unique flavor that will make you want to come back for more and more...this place is a must!

I read all of these reviews that recommended Spoon, so I tried it out since it is really close to my office. I went in at peak lunch hour, and there was a bit of a line, but I stood there not knowing who the host was, so I stopped a server and asked if I could sit at the bar, and she gave me a brisk "yes". I got my water and ordered quickly, a Pad Thai with tofu. A couple minutes later, another diner sat next to me and ordered. I waited about 15 minutes for my Pad Thai, and the diner next to me was already halfway through his curry and ready to pay.

When I finally got my Pad Thai, it was so salty and tasted like the base was made out of ketchup. I had to order a bowl of rice to dilute the saltiness. The server was not very friendly and it seemed like everyone else was serving me and not him.

I really enjoy Thai cuisine, but this wasn't the most pleasant experience. I'd like to give Spoon another go, maybe when they aren't slammed and giving their attention to all of their other customers. I did like the decor and ambience if that makes up for anything.

Never have I experienced a restuarant that had such fabulous customer service. This restaurant is family owned and family run. The family is gracious, genuine, generous, hard-working and they make each of their customers feel like they're the number one priority for the evening. The rest of the waite staff was highly efficient and truly worked as a team (my water glass was full all evening!).

The food was simply amazing. It was fresh, home-cooked authentic thai cusine. The dishes were beautifully prepared and incredibly filling. I would highly recommend this resturant for both the exceptional service and for the outstanding food.

First of all, I'm not a big fan of lamb. However, my wife and I went to Spoon thai place last Friday night. We ordered the crispy shrimp appetizer, I believe Spoon called it " Shrimp in the blanket", it was fantastic (so good with their tamarind sauce). Then, we were convinced by our server to try a considerable plateful of lamb in basil stir fry. Man it was insanely delicious lamb; medium rare with a hint of spice, just perfect for us. The bottle of Wolf Trap red blend wine is such a combination of great flavors for lamb. Chef absolutely did a wonderful job preparing meal. We'll definitely be back.
I recommend a reservation, coz on Fri&Sat night this place was packed.

I had the Thai Iced Tea, Tofu corn cakes, and Coconut tofu soup and every bite was amazing. It is a cool place to get togethor with friends or a good place to start the night out at.

Spoon is a bit difficult to find if you're not familiar with the area. Parking may be difficult at times, as it doesn't seem to have its own parking lot.
From the decor to the food, Spoon lived up to expectations. The restaurant had a very industrial & open feel.
I'm not a huge fan of Thai, but the food here was great -- extremely flavorful. The menu was basic and not overwhelming, which was good. The drinks were unique and delicious. The servers were very chic and attentive.
It was a bit pricier then I expected, but well worth it.

I recently returned from Thailand and this was very authentic and delicious!! The staff were friendly, open and happy to chat or leave you to your meal. The desserts were creative and well put together...we had the chocolate chip and blueberry spring rolls with mango sauce and coconut ice cream. The chicken satay was excellent and the pad kee mao was perfect. The restaurant is open, relaxed but also classy...I love the layout. I can't wait to go back and I recommend everyone make time for this restaurant!!

I decided to try this thai restaurant, after reading the great reviews. Took me a minute 2 find the spot but I was truly impressed with the service! Our food arrived on time and it was really hot too. Our waiter was also very attentive. Cheap eat and a great spot too. Will definitely be stopping by here more often.

Pros: Service , Food, Ambience

.

Keep a lookout as you zoom by this place on Marietta St. -- it's hard to see, and even harder to tell where to park (I still don't know if I parked legally). Even so, the curries are worth it, and everyone at my table enjoyed their meal. This place is a marker of what the Westside can be -- modern, stylish, very reasonable, and unexpected.

I'm so impressed! I love thai food and Spoon became my favorite Thai restaurant last night. The ambience was cool and intimate, service was excellent and extraordinarily attentive, and the food was outta this world! The massaman curry wasn't too thick, too thin, or too sweet. The basil rolls were also really yummy! We all enjoyed our food and I can't wait for another excuse to eat at Spoon!

Killer Thai and I'm not talking about the ubiquitious Pad Thai that many folks are afraid to venture past, Unpretensious waitstaff, and Yes they have a full bar. For all the Virginia Highlanders ...this place is a little raw so bring your padded jeans if your looking for a fluffy filled pleather booth cushion. This is the kind of food you'll crave and certainly come back for. Take a date, try the sea bass ...it melts in your mouth. If you don't have a date, order a bottle of red, give it a name and caress it over a sampling of apps with a bombshell dessert - may I suggest the chocolate torte. Last but not least, this place could pump up the style of the restrooms a bit although I was impressed with the full length mirror for the ladies. Go now you won't be disappointed.

Tasty authentic Thai food served by some of the friendliest wait staff in town. This is definitely a must try. The atmosphere is relaxing, yet stylish (It's hard to believe this was once Thelmas Kitchen -- you can tell they put a lot of effort into fixing up the interior). A great place to grab lunch if you work near downtown or the perfect date spot to start off an evening out in midtown. They have a full bar now, so those of us that like a drink or two (or a few more) are sure to be happy!

This Thai eatery is cool, modern, delicious and gracious. It's an outstanding value for what you get. We tried the tempura calamari which was lightly battered to perfection, curry snapper, a stir fry w/ beef and basil, fried green tea ice cream and a Thai inspired chocolate mousse. Everything was amazing. We'll even come back just for the desserts and Thai teas! The staff is rather new, yet friendly and attentive. No alcohol served at the moment. Overall, it was an impressive experience.

The atmosphere is amazing. I've finally found a place that has tasty food made of healthy fresh ingredients for a great value as well as a diverse crowd. Bustling lunch, romantic dinner, friendly gathering place or come alone to dine and read a book. Gotta try it!

This brand new Thai spot has a hip contemporary interior, great staff, some of the best and most authentic Thai food in Atlanta at a great price. There is a parking lot right next to the building. I've already tried at least six things on the menu and everything has been incredible. The curries are delicious! Luckily, not many people know about this place yet so there was no wait to eat.

This sleek little spot has the best Thai food in Atlanta. Everything's fresh and flavorful. The appetizers rule. The curries are thick and spiced just right. The waitstaff is quietly attentive and the atmosphere will have your date eating out of your hand. Go here- now!

Spoon has only been open for 2 weeks and I've probably gone atleast 10 times. I can't believe how good the Thai food here is. I frequent the typical thai restaurants Tamariand, Nan, and Surin. This place is definitley my favorite. A great date place, and casual enough for lunch too. You HAVE to try the Golden Snapper ...unbelievable. You can really tell they use high quality fish (it mentions on the menu the use sushi grade). I've tried about 6 or 7 dishes total and they all are flavorful, albeit the house salad is a little boring compared to everything else. Friendly service. Only bad thing I can think of is there is not even a sign out front yet although its pretty easy to find (right next to Melody's and by the Engineer's bookstore) seems like word is getting out though - it was packed the last few lunches.

The hip, somewhat industrial decor lacks the merest hint of typical Asian aesthetic. It creates a comfort zone for Techsters and other denizens of this part of town, many of whom pioneered loft living in Atlanta. Spoon's Thai dishes run…
