Normally draws a pretty good crowd. Not real big on their prices but they stay open pretty late which is a plus.

This is one of the main Emory dive bars. You definitely need to take a shower after you leave here because you smell terribly of smoke. This is best late at night when nothing else is open and you're already a bit tipsy.

What happened to this place is the loss of their best people. The owner and his wife got a divorce, (she was the one with brains) and then the daugher and son in law left. All that is left now are drunks and mess ups. Everyone seems lazy, uneducated, dense and rude, to say the least.

Pros: plenty t.v.'s

Cons: bad service,,,,bad atmosphere

Yes, the management has changed, but for the better!!! Better bartenders, better servers, and better food. Famous is great for watching football on Saturdays, and even during the week, the food is really good and the specials are awesome. It gets crowded a bit on weekend nights, but I've never had bad service. And even the crowds are full of beautiful people. :) If you just want to hang out with friends and drink and play pool or watch a game or just people-watch, this is the place to be. And there's plenty of parking!!! Where else can you find a fun place to hang out that stays open late and serves an awesome late-night menu too???

I have been a regular for a couple of years, but recently they were taken over by new management, This management should have never stepped foot in the place. I have a lot of friends who were formerly employed at famous, but over the course of the year, most have been fired for things that were not true. Most people I knew that went will not go anymore because of the crappy new staff and the unfair way that the previous long standing staff was treated. The old locals spent a lot of money there, and the way they are going, they are not only going to lose the last few regulars they might still have, but also not be able to bring in anyone new. The new staff has no personality, the place is a dump, and it is a ghost town all week long. I hope the management reads this and slinks out like they should. The few people that are there are old, scary, creepy or underage. From the moment you walk in the door, you are greeted with a frown because apparently the staff doesn't want to be there any more than the patrons. If for some reason you get stuck here, do yourself a favor and give your business to Maggie's two doors down, it might save your night. BUT you would be best to avoid like the place has the plague.

I have been coming to Famous off and on for the last 9 years. It has always had a very fun, energetic and outgoing base of customers. I can honestly say for the most part, the staff during this time has reflected the customers who would come in. Always cold beer, good tvs and pool tables. They added dancing a couple of years ago, but that has turned into a "fiasco" if you ask me. DON'T take a date here anymore. If you want her looked up and down by the scuzziest of the scuzz, or grabbed at by some of the "patrons" in the back bar, then by all means bring her in. The security there is a complete joke. They are too busy hanging out with friends to see anything transpire in the first place. The most depressing aspect of this once great hangout, has been the slow transformation of the staff. There used to be lots of fun loving, hard working people here. Take out the fun loving and hardworking, and what are you left with? You can imagine the type of customers that are being brought in by this "staff". No personality at all, and this is supposed to be a "Neighborhood Pub", which it is far from anymore. There are some "positives" about the place. They serve food late and have a great patio, but after that, it's just a bad feeling being in there. If you have been coming here for a while, I am sure you are nodding your head in agreement. If you haven't, don't waste your time, there are plenty of places that can serve you with a smile out there, and that truly care about their guests comfort level.

I was over in Atlanta for some training in a new job so I thought I pop into this place. Looked really good and the people were very friendly especially one of the waitresses whose name slips my mind but gave me more than just a night of drinking.
What a fantastic girl

I am embarrassed that I even went into this place. I very apprehensively went out with a few people one night after they twisted my arm a few times, turned out to be the biggest losers in the world (which im not trying to be judgmental but it is beyond pathetic), and they took me to this place, FAMOUS. well, the vibe from the begining was beyond strange just walking in there. it felt something like a carnival, sports bar, with a pole in the back for these repressed karoke types... maybe las vegasy is the right word. just cheesey. This place is the end of the world, it really is... i am a native of atlanta, i have traveled all over the place... this is not my least favorite place and experience (if you can call it that), it is the end of the world. never talked to those people again either. doesnt the name say it all? 'famous' - i can understand new folks coming in from out of town and not being impressed the first time they go in there. but for the natives, i have never even heard of this place before... i didnt know it existed. i think the name 'famous' must attract some of the lamest people around. i dont write reviews like this but i just couldnt resist. go anywhere but this place. this place is cheesey. gold chain wearin karoke kids. run away!! dork bar. loser convention.

I liked the atmosphere - I have gone a couple of times. The staff is polite and cordial, but not what I call 'friendly'. I didn't notice the type of chit-chat from the staff that usually happens in a neighborhood sports bar - so as long as you bring fun friends, you should have a great time! Definitely a layed back spot to hang out and play pool with friends - I didnt go on a night where they had live music, but the juke box is connected to the internet - so the potential for great music is unlimited.

Been coming here for years, but I am done. This place has always been a pretty cool place, thanks to the staff they have had. No more. From my understanding, the owner (who is a drunken maniac), has fired them all. I will not spend my money or frequent an establishment that treats loyal employees in this manner any longer. There are too many places to go, and I am fed up with the direction this bar is headed in . Don't waste your time going into this bar/pub/nightclub/cover charge/no cover charge, make up your mind! Used to be a busy spot, but now is looking more bare by the day. Sad, really. See you all at benchwarmers and tin roof!!

Well The Famous Pub once was a great bar. From the time you walked in till the time you left it felt like your own house party or living room when your watching the game. But wow has it changed. From last year, till this year this place has went from a great wait staff and Awsome bar staff too making you wonder why i have even stayed as long as i did. Service....What service. It took for ever to get the server, any server to get off thier cell phone to notice that we were even there so one of us finally just went to the bar to get the same results because the 2 bartenders were to busy be friendly and taking shots with each other. As far as the dancing in the so called palace,The DJ was awful.Noone was dancing and the tv's were still on the channels that the games were on an hour earlier.Would you call that great management or just an alternate game plan?not sure what has happened but it needs to go back to the way it once was. When the staff was friendly, the place was cleaner and the management actually care the the customers were taken care of and toilet paper be in the bathrooms and not all over the floor..

Pros: close to other bars

Cons: no close enough to another bar

.

This was my first and last experience in the Famous Pub. I walked in, had one beer because it was "last call". (Bartender made this very clear as he served me a beer) The bar's closing time was 3:00 a.m., and it was exactly 3:00 a.m. that the staff began threatening me by screaming in my ear to either stop drinking and get out or get ready to help clean the tables. I had never been into the Famous Pub and being an "out of towner", I wanted to check out what the city of Atlanta's bars were made of. I knew I only had time for one beer and a little time to grasp the surrounding atmosphere of this Toco Hills bar. It turned out to be a complete nightmare. I am a female, barely 5"7, not very threatening (I like to think) yet I had scary old men yelling and cursing at me telling me to get the f* out. If you're looking for a classy joint, or just a place to enjoy a cold beer, definitely steer clear of this joint.

Pros: If "complete nightmare" counts as a pro, then yes.

Cons: pretty much everything behind the doors of the (not so) Famous Pub.

Toco Hills is a very nice center for the area. Many longtime merchants, restaurants, and services are located here. My wife and I took our two kids by one evening for burgers and fries. These people in here do not live in our neighborhood. Two fights broke out, one of the people was an off duty police officer. We had been warned about this place, and figured nothing could be this bad. Well it is. Food is nothing special. But the beer was cold. We will not be back, we just didn't feel safe!

Famous is more than a local pub - it's an Atlanta institution! You all know that one person or have that one friend that remembers a crazy night (or two) at Famous. Well hell, you might of been that person. The bottom line is that everyone is in some six-degrees-of-Kevin-Bacon way linked to Famous Pub. After reading the glowing and not so glowing reports (I have a feeling those on the con side were of backwoods kinship), it's good to know that everyone has at least an opinion of the place. That means you're aware that it exists and isn't that half the battle in life? Well, just like Kevin Bacon, Famou Pub may be maturing but it's only getting better with age. You have to check out the hugest patio east of 85! They just finished this deck and it's awesome. That's not even mentioning the suave new bathrooms, the cheap but delicious lunch menu and the coldest shots inside the perimeter. Did I mention the killer patio? I don't care what anyone says, Famous is the place. I happen to love the fact that I can dance at the back door club, play pool in the play room or watch sports in a cool air and light conditioned dining room. And again, they have the coolest patio since American Pie. Yes, their waitresses are just as hot (and their bartenders are hotter). So, for all you Famous Pub haters, from a lover, may the wrath of Kevin Bacon descend upon you in the form of several bad hair days and a lack luster career.

Cons: Only have 2 days in the weekend to fully enjoy the Famou Pub.

What this means is sport's fun with a prize every night. You have a staff dedicated to you. Beer is just one of the liquided options that you can order from two fully stocked bar. With all the tvs in this place it is no wonder that you can't see east to west sports in one night with out a plane ticket, ha ha. When I went there the other night I was greated and waited on like I was a friend that was greatly missed. But we do know that liquids are rented not bought, so I am happy to report that the bathrooms are remodled and I love them. No waiting anymore for a stall. I had a great time dancing to the music on a huge dance floor, I even tried one of the poles. I heard about the new patio and can't wait to see it. I remember the old one it was a great area to relax from the exictement of the dj and the sports crowd inside, so I know the new patio will make the pub even better. So please be kind and remember to rewind back to the pub everynight to see what new things are in store for you. P.S. Kisses to the door man I never felt comfortable any where else.

Atlanta has many great and good sports bars. But this is not one. Located in a run-down section of Toco Hills, some people might like it, because it is a dive. The crowd looks scary, even in the daylight hours. We just wanted to finish our drinks and leave. Fights break-out here quite often. Come at your own risk!

Famous is a great place to hangout for young adults and the young at heart. The service and atmosphere is great. The bartenders and servers are really fast and friendly. The cocktail waitress are really hot. Perks--food and drinks are inexpensive, beer specials, big screen tvs, pool tables, dart board, dance floor, you name it. It's more of a place that you can chill out after work. Overall, it's my favorite place to hang out.

If you like sports, you'll love Famous. With several mega screens and countless other televisions, the game you are looking for will most definitely be on. The beer is cold and the wings are hot, they've got darts, pool, Golden Tee, and tons of other parlor games to keep you entertained during commercials. The barmaidens will keep the pitchers flowing your direction with their fast and efficient service. Althought it's as dark as a cave in Famous, you won't care after a couple drafts. Great sports, cheap frostys and solid food make this place the best.

I would have to say that it is my favorite bar in the entire world.
