Laura knows her business and knows people. She is a very educated and very professional woman who will give you a sense of security in your investment. However, my fiance and I felt a little intimidated when working with her. This prevented us from getting exactly what we wanted. The ring is gorgeous and the stone is more that I could have imagined getting for the money but it still needs a little modification that I had discussed with Laura. I felt that my opinion was heard but not considered as much as I would have liked it to be. Laura has a much better idea of the way things should look than I do, but functionally the ring needs modified to fit the needs that we discussed when designing it. That was a little frustrating but the end result is incredible.

Laura is the absolute greatest! When I arrived in her office she immediately made me feel comfortable and unrushed. Even though I spent almost a year educating myself about diamonds, she spent TWO HOURS giving me a one-on-one tutorial about everything you would ever need to know about selecting and purchasing a quality gemstone. We proceeded to look at a wide variety of diamonds (ALL CERTIFIED) and see the difference in them side by side. It was reminiscent of being in a lab class at school. When I tried to get every other jeweler to do this type of comparison, they all balked! (BEWARE!) I even told Laura that I would be comparison shopping and would not make a purchase that day. Instead of discouraging me, she told me of sales tactics to watch out for while I shopped! Boy, was this handy! I quickly learned the difference between a salesperson and a gemologist. After having people attempt to sell me a different cut of diamond (assuming that I didn't know the difference) to trying to sell diamonds with no or unreliable certifications for the same price as Laura's certified stones, I returned to her to select my diamond and have a ring custom made for my fiance. She even rushed to have it to me in less than 2 weeks! Thanks to Laura, my proposal was perfect!

No matter your price range, contact Laura BEFORE you make a diamond purchase. You don't have anything to lose and you'll be surprised at what you can get for your dollar!

My fiance found out about Laura through a coworker and two of his coworkers have since purchased engagement rings through her as well. I joke to my friends that she's the office jeweler and you could find none better.

Strangers often "complain" that my engagement ring is blinding them from across a room - it is a stunning stone and I can't stop looking at it even after almost two years. This year she made the perfect custom eternity wedding band for me. We talked about design over the phone and I visited her office so we could discuss stone size - she presented me with the band I'd been dreaming about for months. It's the perfect mate for my engagement ring. I can't wait for everyone to see it in a couple of weeks and to be able to wear it forever.

My fiance is from Atlanta and though we live in Los Angeles and plan on marrying there, we thought it would be fun to bring some of his hometown into our ceremony by looking for wedding bands there. We found Laura by googling "best Atlanta jewelers", met with her when we in Atlanta on a visit, and were very happy with our find. It was a little difficult for me trying to get across ideas from across the country but Laura took the time to talk things through with me, and made sure I was absolutely happy. Her prices seem to be quite fair also. She seems to be more about building good relationships where you might come back for more. I love my wedding band and can't wait to wear it... forever!

I was lucky enough to find Laura by chance online when I was looking to design an engagement ring. Laura was very warm and welcoming during our first meeting. Laura was great when helping me design an engagement ring. She really listened to what I had to say and really wanted to ring to turn out the way that I wanted. Laura Powers was highly recommended to me by friends who used her for wedding & anniversary jewelry. Laura worked with me to design a necklace using both antique diamonds from a family ring & new diamonds. She was very flexible & patient with me as we worked out the details. The result was a stunning, very well priced necklace that I wear every day. I always get compliments on it. My original necklace had 2 flowerettes filled with diamonds. I have recently returned the necklace to Laura for her to add 2 more diamond flowerettes, again, using a combination of new & antique diamonds.

I searched the Internet for the right combination of craftsmanship, understanding and gems to build engagenment and wedding rings. After interviewing over half a dozen jewelers, I decided to go with Laura. It was an easy choice for me, as she immediately developed a good feel for what I wanted. During the process she made several helpful suggestions and delivered on budget and under deadline. The result was exactly what I wanted. I am totaly satisfied with my experience and the results. A friend recommended Laura Powers Jewelry to me for the purchase of my fiance's engagement ring. I could not be happier with the service and quality that I received. We worked together to create a custom-designed ring based on a Tiffany ring that my fiance had said she liked. I had no prior experience with diamonds, so Laura walked me through the whole process, allowing me to examine diamonds for two hours in her office. She even obliged when I asked her to mix up the diamonds and quiz me so that I would know that I was picking the same diamond as my favorite each time. She was able to have the ring ready for me right in time for the proposal and gave me status updates regarding its progress throughout the process. The finished product was brilliant and my fiance has not stopped smiling since receiving it. The ring was certainly not cheap, but Laura worked exclusively within the budget I had set and I feel as though I received a tremendous value.

While shopping for an engagement ring for my girlfriend, I visited many "jewelers" within the malls and in Buckhead and midtown high rises...I just couldn't get away from the constant feeling of being pressured on a used car lot. They seemed to make the entire process much more complicated than I felt it should be. As a guy walking off the street, I couldn't get a straight answer on any of my questions. The prices seemed arbitrary and I was hesitant to spend that kind of money without feeling comfortable that the end result would be everything that I wanted (and my fiance too!)
From the first visit with Laura, I knew I was going to make this purchase with her. She spoke my language and I immediately felt comfortable with the process. She decided to help me design a ring from scratch and I was able to walk through all my ideas with her. Picking a center stone independent of the ring was one of the first steps followed by a computer generated layout of the design that I had envisioned. I was able to make tweaks and she kept in constant contact to keep me updated on the process and show me progress. In all, it took about three weeks to go from an idea in my head to seeing it realized with a beautiful ring on the finger. I couldn't be more pleased with my experience at Laura Powers' office. I am looking forward to going back for the actual wedding rings. I highly recommend any guy out there to go visit the malls first to get a taste of that...then come sit down with Laura.
And I almost forgot...the value is incredible. After seeing what you can get for your dollar everywhere else, you will be very pleased working with an independent designer without the built in over-head of super expensive retail space, a show room full of employees, etc.

Laura came highly recommended by a friend when I began shopping for an engagement ring. I had visited other jewelers and several jewerly stores, but none of those options felt right. After 10 minutes with Laura, I knew she was exactly what I was looking for. Although I had done significant research on my own, I still had a ton of questions. Laura walked me through the entire process. She patiently answered all my questions and made sure I was making educated decisions. I couldn't imagine a more stress-free process. I've lived in Atlanta for 36 years and am extremely familiar with who all the players are in the jewelry and design marketplace in the city. Bar none, Laura Powers is the best jewelry designer and consultant that I've ever run across. She brings over 25 years of jewelry experience, including time at Tiffany's, to her own shop without all the pomp and circumstance of going to a mall or gallery........or their dreaded retail pricing. In choosing a jeweler and designer, there were several factors that made working with Laura a great experience for me. First and most importantly, I trust her implicitly. In going through the design and estimate phase for a custom engagement ring and wedding bands we were doing, Laura was very upfront about costs, worked within my budget guidelines, and actually gave creative suggestions to increase the quality and look of the rings, without going overboard on cost. Importantly, through all of this, I never felt like I was being "up sold," which was absolutely my experience with a couple of other places I had considered using. Next, Laura is extremely patient. I can't profess to be an expert on jewelry and could only read so much about the "C's" on-line, not to mention, we were creating pieces, so I had a lot of concerns about how things would turn out. I asked a LOT of questions and she patiently and professionally educated me on the process of piece design, jewel selection, production, and time line of the finished pieces. Lastly, Laura is a joy to work with. She's so positive and upbeat and whether I'm spending a couple of hundred dollars, or thousands of dollars, she treats me the exact same with a high level of professionalism and a welcome client. I highly recommend doing business with Laura.

Laura takes the time to listen and advise you throughout the process. She has years of experience in the industry and she brings that to bear on your needs. Whether you are on a tight budget for your first purchase that has to be exactly right (like an engagement ring) or if you are celebrating a long successful marriage and want to do something extra special. Laura gets it right. She doesn't try to push inventory like the mall chain stores do. She consults with you and optimizes the factors that are most important to you - whether it is price, the "4 Cs" or creating a unique one of a kind gift.

Laura designed a wedding band set to fit around my antique engagement ring. From the first meeting, she understood my vision and offered terrific advice on how to make this a piece that I will be proud of forever. She really made an effort to create what I wanted, while at the same time inputting her expertise into the design. My wedding set is complimented on by strangers a couple times a week. It's beautiful, classic, and unique all at the same time. I cannot express how thrilled I am with the final outcome - it is more than I imagined and I am so lucky to be able to enjoy Laura's work everyday!

I looked up Laura several years ago when I was working in Atlanta and living in upstate NY...coincidentally, not far from where Laura is from. Laura helped me design a gorgeous engagement ring which my wife still wears every day. It gets compliments from everyone who sees it.

For the wedding, I worked with Laura via telephone and email to design and customize a pair of diamond earrings for my wife. Laura effectively used 21st century tools like email and digital photos to convey EXACTLY what the end-product would look like. My wife was VERY pleased with the end-product and we were both very happy with the whole experience.

We now live in Toronto and are working with Laura on ideas for saphire earrings for our soon-to-be 1-year-old baby girl.

I was searching for the perfect gift for my wife's 20th anniversary. She had serveral diamond rings that I had purchased for her over the years to the point that she could not wear them all on her fingers without looking ridiculous. Then, I can up with the idea of combining the rings in one sturdy but classy setting. I made an appointment to visit Laura's office to discuss my options. At first, I was intimidated because, I am not wealthy by most standards and I did not know what to expect. To my elation, Laura made me feel comfortable and assured me that she had a range of jewelry designs that would fit into my budget. Laura sketched out a design right there in front of me that fit exactly what I was looking for and a few weeks later, (just in time for our 20th anniversary), I had the ring that was in white gold (platinum was out of my budget at the time) spiral design setting that included 2 engagement rings (the original and the upgrade) and 2 anniversary rings. The centerpiece was the upgraded 1/2 carat. The look was perfect! Thank you Laura, you made our 20th spectacular!

Laura and I helped design my wedding ring. My husband bought a beuatiful saphire from Laura and with my input designed the most beautiful ring surrounded by diamonds along with 2 diamond bands. I constantly recieve compliments on the rings beauty and unique design. Laura stayed within my husbands budget and supplied all the necessary paperwork to help me get the ring insured properly. I recommend her craft to everyone looking for a special peice of jewlery.

I came in with a loose stone and ended up with a one-of-a-kind piece that attracts attention every time I wear it! Furthermore, I didn't pay one penny more than I would have for a necklace featuring those stones in a store. Before we even got to the actual ring making, Laura put up with months of me sending her designs I liked and filed them away until we were ready to make a decision. Then she worked with me to design just the right ring (spectacular has been a common comment :)). She is honest, straightforward and will work within your budget without trying to make you feel like you should spend more. I think she is the best out there and recommend her to all of my friends and family. She did my sister-in-law's engagement & wedding rings as well and they are beautiful.

The previous reviewer pretty much summed it up about Laura, so all I will say is that if you're unsure about where to go for an engagement ring, and scared about getting ripped off or fed diamond lingo BS that you don't understand, you will be very relieved to meet with Laura.

She's super honest, and will be straight up with what you can get within your budget and really knows what she's talking about. She's the best when it comes to engagement rings, and I will definitely be using her for any future jewelry purchases/designs. Thanks Laura!

Laura is simply wonderful. She is knowledgeable, experienced, personable, and helpful, all of which contribute very positively to making a major purchase. We worked on a custom-designed ring, and the results exceeded my expectations and were beyond my fiancee?s wildest dreams, no exaggeration.

Laura knows her business. I am a knowledgeable, particular, and extremely detail-minded customer who can be difficult to satisfy. After speaking with jewelers who didn?t know as much as I did, it was a breath of fresh air to work with Laura, whose knowledge and experience in the industry lend her enormous credibility. She helped me to learn even more and to make very informed decisions in my ring design.

She is also very patient and extremely helpful. I walked out of a couple of jewelry stores whose sales people wouldn?t give me the time that I needed. Laura had the patience of a saint as I deliberated and discussed with her the merits of every single tiny detail that went into designing the perfect ring for my fiancee. That willingness to work with a customer coupled with her experience makes her an exceptional source of ideas as well as a marvelous sounding board for one's own ideas.

On that note, Laura will sell you a piece of jewelry however you want it, but she does have opinions. This is a very good thing! Jewelers who only say "It's all about what you want" will let you buy/design a piece of jewelry that won?t really suit your needs. In contrast, Laura got an understanding of the criteria that I was looking to meet, and she then advised me against some of the ideas that I put forth, accordingly. I took her advice, and the ring is better because of it.

If you're a quick shopper, do yourself a favor and go straight to Laura. You'll save time and avoid making costly mistakes at a mall or at a radio-advertised McJeweler. If you shop around and make more informed purchases, then do research, gather ideas, and go to Laura when you're ready to buy.

I was shopping for a new ring for my 31st anniversary. A friend had given me Laura's name so my first appointment was with her. She was so much fun to talk to and immediately put me at ease. We talked about lifestyle, budget, size of diamond, etc. She brought out a few diamond shapes and after picking out a couple she brought out a beautiful ring that I had to have. She knew exactly what I wanted before I did!
Laura is very professional and is interested in her clients having just what they want. Her quality, prices and designs are excellent. After shopping with Laura, I will never go to a regular jewelry store again.

This was the first time I had the opportunity to create a ring, and it was also the wedding ring that I will hopefully wear the rest of my life. I wasn't sure about how to go about this process but Ms. Powers held my hand the whole way and was open and honest about how to proceed. I was concerned about telling her my budget, but she never made me feel embarrased and treated me like I had a million dollars. The quality of my ring is better than I had hoped for. I had shopped the malls and there is absolutely no comparison whatsoever. Now not only can I show off my ring, but have a story to tell with it. I would recommend anyone to Ms. Powers, she is geniune, honest and very professional.

After shopping many of the traditional jewelry stores and the Apparel Mart, Laura Powers showed why she is the best person to deal with when buying an engagement ring. She walked me through her process, stuck to my budget, and even had ring the setting hand made for me. She is a pleasure to work with and will treat with honesty and fairness. I recommend her for all jewelry needs.
