Not the megaplex experience, but a decent place to go to see first run movies for a lower price (matinees are $6).
They typically offer a good selection of 3-4 movies that represent both the family interest (pixar type movies) and the college town interests (sometimes indy or artsy themed movies during the semester).
Also, Saturday at midnight, they still show the long running Rocky Horror Picture Show.
Overall, I have been very happy with them and hope they stay where they are. .I've heard rumours that they want to move to a mall that is scheduled to be built outside of town. That would be aweful for the patrons. I hope they keep the business model low key and just make incremental improvements

Newark Cinema Center is a great place to see a movie when you want to get away from the mega-cine-plex. They have first-run movies for lower prices, and you really can't get a bad seat. The snack bar service is much faster than at some of the larger local theaters, too. Definitely worthwhile!

The Newark Cinema Center is a town icon. We have many great memories of seeing films for the first time on the BIG screen! The prices are very reasonable and they show first-run movies. The employees are friendly and the popcorn is delicious! Mandatory activity for a true Newarker!

The Newark Cinema Center has something the big multiplexes do not have--Character! This movie house has the feel of the old time movie theater, when there were only 1 or 2 screens in a theater.

The Cinema Center is rarely crowded. Lines for snacks are seldom long. It's easy to get a seat where you can see the screen. The Newark Cinema Center is a gem.

This movie theater is a small one, only offering three or four marquee movies each week, as well as a nightly midnight screening of the Amityville Horror Show. The small theater offers a change of pace from other local theaters such as Regal Cinema 17 in People's Plaza, and the prices for the movies are a much better deal than any other theater in the area.
