Hillsborough Gallery of Arts

... where very little is left to chance---maybe to spontaneity, but never to chance--in highlighting the strengths & nuances of each work. The members of the cooperative are quite prolific, and the media most varied. Definitely worth stopping by at least ONCE, if your only passing thru Hillsborough, but much more frequently if you're lucky to live close enough along the Upper Neuse/Cape Fear water shed divide to get to Hillsborough more often!

When I need something unique and special to give someone for a gift, I make the 45 minute drive to Hillsborough to visit the Hillsborough Gallery of Arts. I love to browse in this multi-room gallery, filled with a wide variety of works by local artists. I am especially fond of the glass jewelry. I highly recommend this ever-changing exhibit of artistic talent in our midst!

I have been to several opening at this great small gallery. The variety of work is excellent. It is a fantastic representation of local talent. It is easy to get to and very inviting. The turnover of work is frequent enough to warrant visiting often.

I was invited by a friend to attend a Last Friday opening. I was overwhelmed by the talented artists displaying there. I loved the show, A WALK IN THE WOODS. The hand-turned bowls and ikabanas were the finest I've seen. Especially the bowl with the wood-pecker holes. You've gotta see it! And the paintings with the nature theme blew me away. I had to buy one so I could wake up every day and feel I'm in a little cabin in the woods on vacation. By the way, the Chardonnay was delicious.

A wonderful place to uplift your day. The fine art and fine craft is always beautiful. Since they change it every month, I keep coming back. I brought my mom in to pick out her birthday gift. We are so lucky to have such an outstanding gallery close by. And every Last Friday they open until 9pm and serve delicious appetizers & wine.
