They make big promises about how superior their online survey services surpass all others. When you get hooked and want to try it out, they trick you into a three year contract. We discovered that the service was hugely subpar to our other services. But when you try to get out, they will threaten lawsuits and every other means to threaten you. I've never dealt with such deceit and poor behavior in my entire career. I've heard from a colleague they are now putting clauses in their contracts that clients cannot comment about their bad services or they will be sued.

My suggestion to CVent. Listen to your customers and stop being so arrogant. Good client bases are built on great word of mouth. You won't get any of that from me, ever.

This company does NOT deliver what they promise. I have used them for the last two years to conduct a survey. They totally messed up the first year, no one looked at what they produced, they had no quality control. Shame on them. They promised me they would have this fixed this year, that they would exercise strict quality control and i would not see a repear of last year's problems. WRONG--same problems, no one reviewed their work product, noone exercised any intelligence or thought in reviewing this and they made mistakes which they did not catch. Shame on them for repeating this and shame on me for believing them when they said the problems would not be repeated. I would avoid them like the plague.

Plus, their product is very difficult to use, and very easy to make mistakes in thinking how it functions. It is not intuitive, even where you think you are placing questions is off. They are difficult to use and really not that good a program for surveys.

To make up for this, they are expensive and overpriced for what you get.

Their fees are very high and they have an "automatic renewal" clause in their contract at the "then current rates" which are 20% higher. Even when you try to negotiate a renewal in good faith, holding your prior prices, its an ordeal.

They try and force you to use their venue selection portal, even if you aleady have a venue chosen. They want you to still go through their portal so they can charge back the venue. What a scam.

There is a class action suit pending. Perhaps I'll add my name to the list.

And, if you complain too loudly, your event goes "off line" in the days prior. Oops, just a glitch. Steer Clear!

A.K. and David P.'s reviews are in line with my experience, I would bet cash Brian J. works for the company. I'm quite tech savvy and can do almost nothing with this software without having to call the support line. Overly complicated, counter-intuitive, bloated, glitchy.

The primary event I use this for is an annual fundraiser for which I need to sell three different levels of tables, individual tickets, and program ads, and be able to accept straight donations. Seemed easy till I got Cvent. Every single one of the seemingly hundreds of steps involved with setting up this as-straigtforward-as-it-gets event requires me to be on the phone with a support person while they try to figure out a workaround to make the software do what I need.

And the incredibly high staff turn-over means that as soon as someone becomes familiar with my events and can guide me through the snags in the process efficiently, they're gone and I have to start from scratch with a new person.

I will do the whole thing with quill and parchment before I renew my contract with this company.

I have been using this program through work to create multiple invitations. This is the clunkiest, least intuitive piece of software I have ever used. I am a web designer by trade and use a ton of databases/apps/cpm etc., so I don't say this lightly. There are so many individual clicks and steps for everything (three confirms per one action) that I literally screamed out of frustration while using Cvent. Nothing is easy to navigate on their site and they are very expensive. One good thing I can say is that customer service is nice and eager to help-even though I couldn't understand much of what the gentleman said. I have also read on other review sites that everyone gets a different price quote for the same service. I do know that a company I work with paid something like $10,000 for this service.

Cvent has the most comprehensive solution on the market for event and conference management. You can tell the have spent 10 years building it and it does everything a planner needs to market and plan an event. The email invitations are great, you can customize the event web sites and registration process to a great degree.. There are other systems out there that are low end, low price and the functionality is too basic. I tried a few like Eventbrite and Constant Contact and they didn't do what I needed.
I got much better attendance for events I marketed with Cvent. That is the most important thing.

The Supplier Network is free and it helped me negotiate pricing way down by getting multiple bids from hotels for my annual conference. I was amazed at how much hotels dropped the price when I had competing bids. In using other sites to get bids for meeting space in the past the biggest issue is that hotels don't respond. I got responses the same day I sent requests via Cvent. The Cvent reps told me they have partnerships with all the hotel chains and that is why.

I highly recommend Cvent because I do think it is the best system on the market. Their support is also fantastic. They stay on the phone with me as long as I need whenever I have a problem.

Overall Cvent has an excellent suite of sleek and very functional products.. for a well-trained user. I have used all 3, event management, web surveys, and the Supplier Network. My review is as follows:

Event Management Solution
-too much functionality for simple events
-too confusing and difficult to learn how to used effectively for complex events
- too expensive, pricing structure is a nickel and dime you to death structure

Web Surveys
- good solution, but for the cost, weak reporting and analysis tools compared to other solutions in the marketplace
- pricing is based on number of people you survey - so if your contact list is long, go elsewhere

Supplier Network
- good idea in concept and as sort of a beefed up hotels.com, but I like to pick up the phone and speak to a live human being

Experience from working with Cvent
- sales and marketing is too aggressive
- sales employs used car sales tactics, seems like pricing is made up on the spot
- sales contracts have auto-renewal clauses built in
- minimum 2 year term? that is BS

In the time that my organization used the services of CVENT, we were generally very pleased with the technical capabilities and technical support they provided. While no longer a client due to a shift in our marketing activities, we would definitely consider using CVENT again in the future.
