I don't know when Laylonnie left her "review" but, I have had my animals treated at Highlands, and Dr. Andersen, for about 15 years. He is the most compassionate veterinarian I have worked with and knowing I take in a lot of strays and rescues, has worked with me on getting these animals past some serious medical issues. I have and will continue to highly recommend him. You can't find a better veterinarian. Thanks for all you do Dr. Andersen.

We have taken our pets to the is vet hosp. for the last 15 years. Dr. Faust and Dr. Reed have been wonderful. We have a dog that is now almost 8 years old. She has been on phenobarb since she was 6 months old. Dr. Anderson would not renew her medication because he received the request on a Saturday. I requested it early Friday, while Dr. Faust was there and he is my dogs vet. We should have been notified on Friday. This has become one big headache and there must be a new desk person because she was so rude. I am use to the ladies that work during the week. This is a horrible experience. If it continues as my dog HAS to see Dr. Anderson in order to get his med. If she is not given her RX, she will begin horiible seizures by Monday...this is Saturday.

After 15 years of great service and many different pets/family members being treated by this facility, I have to say that IF this does not work out in kindness and understanding, we will be changing all of our animals to a new vet./animal care provider or hospital.

I had a rabbit with heart failure, and my vet referred me to this place, and Dr. John Reed took her case on, he was so wonderful, kind, and did everything for my rabbit to live comfortably, they're a wonderful group of people.

This office has a comfortable, friendly atmosphere, and I had a very good experience here. They got me in quickly, saw me promptly, and had good customer service. The vet and assistant were friendly and gentle with my dog. I felt the rates were fair, and they didn't try to upsell me a bunch of extra things I didn't need. I will be back!

I have always been satisfied with the care my animals have gotten at VCA Highlands. The front office staff are friendly and efficient, and remember me and my pets. I have mostly seen Dr. Andersen, but have also had Dr. Faust. Dr. A is SO good with our kitties, and spent a lot of time trying to figure out what was wrong with one of them when he presented with some very serious symptoms. Even though it was something unusual, Dr. A listened to my intuitions and observations. When we return with other pets, he asks about the health of this one ""special"" kitty. He also treats our dogs, they grew up going to that office, and have no ""going to the vet"" issues whatsoever. In fact, they're happy to go in to just be weighed and get a cookie. The times they've needed to be taken to the back for a treatment, they go along happily. When injuries and illnesses have come up, all our pets have been well-treated there. I am always bummed when I can't get an appointment there for an emergency!\n\nLike all veterinarians, I wish it didn't cost so much, but their prices are reasonable as compared to others in the area. I definitely recommend VCA Highlands as a great local veterinary choice.

We saw Dr. Faust and he was pleasant, calm, and seemed to really care about our new family member. No one tried to sell me anything, even flea/tick or heartworm meds which would be typical of any vet's office. After seeing all the factually wrong comments and misstatements in the prior review by Laylonnie (in March of 2010), I felt compelled to respond and let everyone review some actual facts about our visit:\r\n\r\nFact: Janis, your newly acquired dog, came in with presenting signs of vomiting, diarrhea, coughing, and sneezing for a free SPCA visit. \r\n\r\nFact: I did not say that Janis had a twisted bowel; I actually said that she had a fluidy bowel with some enlarged segments that were palpable. Twisting of the bowel can be one cause for this, as I told you. Regardless, this can be a serious to life-threatening issue, especially when we are not allowed to work up patients due to monetary concerns.\r\n\r\nFact: AT NO CHARGE TO YOU, we performed nearly $200 worth of services (exam, parvovirus test, antinausea injection, medicine for the diarrhea). It saddens me to see that all those free services were not appreciated at all. Calling me a ""money grubbing thief "" when I gave you $200 worth of free services does not really seem to be a very lucid statement.\r\n\r\nFact: I truly was unaware (before your visit) of all of the free services that were to be provided under the SPCA plan, that is why we took the time to copy your information on the covered services. \r\n\r\nFact: I do provide quotes for working patients up. You can check with any competent veterinarian about what they would recommend for any animal with vomiting, diarrhea, coughing, and sneezing; in most cases blood work and abdominal radiographs will be at least part of the recommendations, which was what I gave you the $359.20 quote for. I am sorry that that quote so offended you.\r\n\r\nFact: Any competent veterinarian cannot actually diagnose kennel cough just by triggering a tracheal cough. I am afraid you have been misinformed about that.\r\n\r\nFact: I didn't sneer at you; I actually did listen to what you said. I am sorry if you did not perceive that I cared about Janis, because I did feel sorry for her.\r\n\r\nFact: The SPCA can't afford to screen for many diseases.\r\n\r\nFact: I hope that, after all the problems that she presented with, Janis is doing well and that you are able to find another veterinarian that will provide you with adequate services.\r\n\r\nDr. Kris Andersen\r\n

Dr Kris Anderson does not know vet medicine from a hole in the ground. I adopted a dog from the SPCA. They are suppose to cover some vet cost up to 14 days of adoption. She happened to be ill (kennel cough) ~ he tried to sell me every test he could think of that was not covered and tried to charge me for one that was then claimed ignorance as to the policy saying SPCA must have added that one. SPCA said they didn't change any policy. He sounded like he was trying to sell me something so I opted out for the additional tests ~ got a second opinion (at my cost) and it turns out she has kennel cough. No need for full blood panel and full body x-ray. Any lay-man could have diagnosed it as kennel cough! He even did the trachea pinch ~ if a dog coughs it is kennel cough ~ she coughed. But he proceeded to tell me he felt that her intestines are twisted. He didn't listen to one word I said. He just sneered at me. He never even consoled my very timid nervous pooch. Money grubbing thief. Trying to take advantage of a person's love. C'mon! He also tried to convince me that rescuing a pet from the SPCA was a bad idea. He told me that you are taking a huge risk. He said SPCA doesn't screen their animals and a pet rescued from their can have serious diseases. He is suppose to be sponsoring pet adoption!!! Of course I did call the SPCA and told them this information. They are not too happy. He was just a salesman disguised as a vet. My dog is still suppose to be covered for her upper respiratory infection but I am going to another vet. Even if I have to pay. I wouldn't trust my pet rock to these salesmen!
