I will no longer go to Rose Hill Animal hospital

by Karen M.

I hadn't been back to Rose Hill for a few years and was very disappointed with my recent visit for my dogs eye injury.
I didn't recognize any of the staff and the visit didn't feel welcoming or professional and was very expensive. I decided to do the follow up visit somewhere else and was so happy with Kenmore Veterinary Hospital. Dr. B and the staff at Kenmore Veterinary were so much kinder, more knowledgeable, much more thorough and less expensive. I highly recommend Kenmore Veterinary over Rose Hill Animal Hospital!

DO NOT GO HERE!

by carly c.

Please do not waste your time, animals health or money here!!!

We recently took our Daschund to VCA Rose Hill Animal Hospital in Kirkland , WA . We took him there after about 10 hours of non-stop vomiting. The doctor spent maybe 45 seconds looking at our dog and gave him a shot for Cerenia, a drug used to reduce vomiting. This was beneficial for our dog to stop vomiting but gave us no understanding of what could have happened or if there was something else wrong. We explained our theories to the doctor, like our dogs notorious habit of eating everything in sight, but this was all ignored. However, we assumed the doctor would have done further exams if necessary. They told us to allows a few days and if the problems persist to schedule another appointment. After continuous vomit, lethargy, and severe weight loss we decided we would return and be persistent with the doctor to run further tests. The vet took a few x-rays and did not see anything. This time they gave us a few options; giving him a few more days of rest, running a more thorough x-ray study with barium. We obviously chose the option for a more intensive x-ray diagnostic. They advised us the study can take about 2 hours and they would call us when it was complete. We were a little nervous at this point because through the thin walls we could here the staff talking about who was getting to leave early and enjoy a rare Saturday of sunshine in the northwest! About an hour into the study the doctor called and advised us that so far they did not see anything but they were not complete and we could pick up our dog shortly. When we came back to our surprise the doctor was not present and a technician brought out our dog , with his mouth covered in barium, and advised us they did not find anything. At this point, we were very concerned. We had several questions that the technician advised only the doctor could answer. Frustrated we insisted our dog at least have some sort of subcutaneous fluids as he had not eaten or drank anything in several days. They said if he got worse over night to take him to an emergency clinic and gave us his x-rays in case this was necessary. We signed a release for the x-rays and went on our way hoping the fluids would somehow help. On Monday, the fifth day of watching our agonized dog get weaker and slowly dying we knew we could not just wait it out. We took our dog to Seattle Veterinary Specialists where we were warmly greeted and seen promptly. The doctor advised us the barium study done by VCA Rose Hill Animal Hospital was incomplete and they would need to take a few more x-rays to determine if there was a bowel obstruction. We agreed and within minutes the doctor returned and advised us our dog would need emergency surgery. She explained to us the success and the side effects surgery can have, along with a surgery estimate. Before, we even agreed the doctors and staff were geared up to whatever necessary to save our dog. We agreed and our dog was immediately being treated. The receptionist offered us financing options and made all of the necessary calls to get us approved for the cost of the surgery. We received a call from the doctor after surgery, as well as through his entire stay with progress updates. During our dogs stay we were invited to call and visit at any time. I am so grateful for the wonderful doctors and staff at Seattle Veterinary Specialist they truly deserve recognition. As far as the original VCA Rose Hill Animal Hospital , I have requested a partial refund for the incomplete barium study. This request has not been a success. I highly recommend consumers not to take their animals to VCA Rose Hill Animal Hospital and highly recommend Seattle Veterinary Specialist!

Recommend VCA Rose Hill Animal Hospital

by jeanne h.

I have had wonderful experiences at Rose Hill Animal Hospital. I have never experienced anything but kind and compassionate care from the qualified vets, assistants and front desk staff. They always know who I am when I walk in the door, greet my dogs/cats by name and are competent with the care that is required. I highly recommend them to my friends/family. They are undergoing a remodel job right now but it will only make it a better veterinary facility in the future. Thanks to all of you at Rose Hill.

Bad news!

by mary s.

My dog and I have been patients at this office for 5 years, and have recently had a very bad experience that should never have happened. After bringing in my dog for joint pain, Dr. Freiberg prescribed a medication that gave her a very strong adverse reaction. When I then called the next day to bring in my very sick dog, they answered no, they would not see her, she must go to the emergency vet, even when there was still two and a half hours of office time left in the day. She spent the weekend at the emergency vet with a bad gastric bleed. This would have never happened if all medical staff would have paid attention to the information in her chart. Their motto, "Your pet's health a top priority and excellent service is our goal." Could not be further from our experience.

trouble

by Janet M.

We have seen dr. Freiberg for 3 years. Twice he has come to a conclusion that made him want to biopsy or preform surgery on our pet. The first time we saw a different vet and got a much better and realistic diagnosis. Our pet was fine without surgery, just antibotics. Afterwards he was confused, acting like that was not what he had said. Despite the fact that we had seen his records at the other vet. This time we again are consulting another vet. His conclusions are unfounded, costly, and never good. Recommend trying someone else.
