Contemporary elegant dining offers luscious noveau cuisine. Our hope that diner's will experience our belief: "That food and wine, shared by friends and family, is the very soul of life." Grateful, that we were able to foresee the unique sense of enchantment behind the work of commeorative Chef Greg Cannon. His distinctive architecture is the blueprint behind a menu that is truly exquisite. Blending scrumptious ingredients to achieve innovative delights, diners frequently remind us that they marvel over his exquisite and edible works of art. Come join us and help praise our theme's. We're newly renowned for an eight course dinner celebration that offers one of the largest European Tapas selections in Chicago. Specialties include freshly grilled seafood, exotic meats, fine cheese, savory selections of Tapas and daily market additions.

In Short
Vibrant yellow walls complement burgundy booths and upholstered chairs at this Restaurant Row eatery, where a regionally diverse Mediterranean menu showcases Italian, French, Greek and Turkish flavors. Small plates include braised oxtail-filled piquillo peppers with orange demi glace, paprika oil and chives. Cheese and charcuterie plates, more substantial entrees like shrimp-laden gnocchi in creamy cognac sauce and cherry tiramisu round out the selection.

The Inside Scoop

  1. Know Before You Go - A variety of dipping sauces, such as harissa, chili and rose aioli or fiery date chutney, can accompany dishes for $2 apiece. There's even an olive oil flight.
  2. The Extras - Pata negra, a highly sought-after and hard-to-obtain ham that comes from Spanish black-footed pigs is on the menu. Of course, it comes with a hefty $15 price tag.
  3. Fun Fact - The restaurant is housed in a former tailor shop that belonged to the owners, who also own nearby Jubilee Juice and Grill. They gutted the space to make this place.

Really not so good

by 6623

What can I say. It really was not a great experience and none of the food was worth the price. Mistakes in the order that any restaurant claiming to know Mediterranean food should never make.

Pros: A good concept

Cons: Mediocre food and service

Great food

by pegl

The restaurant is small intimate. Servers and Nia are great. We went there for my birthday and everyone know it was my birthday and came to the table to wish me a "Happy Birthday". Service was excellent. They have a free valet parking. Food was great. I have no complaint at all. The restaurant was a great experience and I would recommend it to everyone.

Pros: Best tapas in town

Cons: none

50/50

Although we had decent service...took a while to get the waiter to bring water but after that they were on their game...the food was just ok. I read a Time Out Chicago posting that got it perfect, some food was great, some was awful. I ordered the Nia house salad, it was absolutley wonderful and quite frankly wish I would have had another and called it a night. I ordered the special for the night, a calamari steak - bad idea. It was over grilled and tasted like char, not like calamari. The sides with it were WAY too salty, I could not taste the food, just salt. I could not finish it, and I am the kind of lady who finishes everything on my plate.

The wine, a recommendation from the server, was great on first sip, but sadly I was barely able to drink the rest of it...my guest and I could not even finish the bottle it was so poor, and trust me that is not something that happens often.

Eater beware, come in and be picky with what you choose...if it sounds like risky - it probably is. Since I was there the opening week I would hope they have a few more kinks out. The salad would be worth going back for.

Hot new restaurant in the West Loop!

by gubaseball

Went to dinner at Nia's last night. It wasn't too busy, which was nice. There were only a couple of other people in the restaurant, so it felt like we had the place to ourselves. The staff was very attentive. The chef, Greg Cannon, took personal care of us! I totally reccommend going there on a Sunday or Tuesday or Wed. night. For starters we had the Barrata, which is a creamy buffalo mozzarella, served on a bed of arugala, drizzled with truffle oil. It was one of the most decadent things I have ever had! The other highlight was the Porcini and wild mushroom rissotto, which is the best rissotto I have ever had in a restaurant, hands down. If you go there, and it's not on the menu, ask for it! The tiramisu was infused with some wild italian cherries, which took it to a whole new level, and if you like tiramisu, you have to try this this one! The wine list was really good and moderately priced, and I look forward to going back once they change the menu this week, to sample the new lighter fare.
