All of the negative reviews below mirror the experience I had with RP. I was treated with total disrespect event though it was their incompetence- they lost my rent check - and served an eviction notice the next day, and charged me for dropping off the erroneous eviction notice. I rewrote the check and was met with comment to the effect- 'sometimes things get lost around here'. I was also charged service fees for the landlord's broken lawn mower, and while waiting for a promised loaner-- they charged me exorbitantly for lawn mowing service--without telling me until it was done... and again after I moved out even though I mowed the lawn the week I moved out. But to take the cake-- they kept my entire $3200 deposit and are asking for $1400 more because they decided to replace ALL the carpet in the house, when we only stained two small areas- which I would have gladly covered- if given that option. The carpet was so old when we moved in after 7+ years of renters- it was thread bare in places. I was not informed upon check out inspection that they were going to replace the carpet and I was never sent any actual invoices of the costs associated with the replacement-- or pictures of the supposedly replaced carpet. While I am in process of challenging that- they sent the $1400 to Collections in less than 30 days... This is not the kind of business that the Bozeman community should put up with- they are a black mark on all Property Managers. Business in Bozeman is usually conducted with great integrity- not there! Others should also file complaints at the Better Business Bureau and the MT State Labor and Industry- Standards Division. Consumers can make a difference.

I just got off the phone with a woman at rental professionals and was almost in tears. I am from out of state and I am trying to fill out their rental application for my roommate (from bozeman) and myself. I told her I currently live with my parents (which she scoffed at) and that I was moving to bozeman in August for grad school (which she again scoffed at). I felt incredibly stereotyped by this woman throughout the rest of the phone call--for example, when I asked what to put for my current occupation because I will be a grad school student, she went silent on the other end and then in a very sarcastic, condescending tone asked me "how exactly then did I plan to pay them for rent?..." I told her I was working this summer and she immediately snapped saying and "is that really going to be enough to pay for a 12 month lease?" I was really offended and her rudeness definitely gave me second thoughts about filling out my rental application. She did not sound welcoming at all nor was she helpful. I cannot believe that she treated me this way--I was hoping to give her business, but I definitely won't now.

Rental Professionals are hardly professional in the way they deal with tenants. They are disrespectful of tenants' rights, and are slow to fix any problems with the rental. I would recommend you rent elsewhere.

Don't rent from these guys. The come up with stupid things to charge you for such as replacing a lock of theirs that broke on us and inspection fees for inspections we never asked for. You are not supposed to pay for repairs that are done

I rented a condo from RP with a friend and it was basically a battle with them from within a few weeks of moving in to when I found someone willing to take my place after RP literally tried to trap us into another year's lease. Please ignore the random 5 star ratings from these mysterious individuals who then go on to make excuses for RP. I'd like to take a wild guess as to who could possibly be giving 5 stars and making up excuses for them screwing everyone over. RP must assume people too stupid to figure out the false reviews of their company being the most fantastic thing this earth has ever been blessed with. Rental Professionals>Jesus right? haha Anyway what they did to us is they added additional services without our consent and forced us to pay for them, like poo removal for the neighbor's dog. We refused to pay these fees of $40 every time time a dog relieved itself on our lawn and they started dropping off threatening letters at our door. They then charged $25 for every threat letter they wanted to drop off for a "delivering notice fee" and added those fees to the feces removal fees. This quickly reached about $300 worth of fines essentially resulting from the crap from someone else's dog. We had an attorney take a look at the situation and he found there was nothing in the signed contract mentioning the delivering fees and that they couldn't charge for removal of dog feces when we didn't even have a dog (obviously). Our attorney contacted them and RP backed off for awhile. Soon it started again and now RP wanted to inspect the property for not paying those fees. We told refused them as they had no reason to and it was not in the lease (the terms of that lease seem to apply to the renter and RP does not need to abide by anything). They by this point knew we wouldn't be pushed around so they figured it would be better to just evict us, take our deposit, and open it up for some new unfortunate souls. Our lease finally was up and we were anxious to get out of there, but we stayed an extra month looking for a new place. It clearly stated in our lease that upon expiration of the lease, it will go to a month-to-month basis, and they sent a letter via postal service telling us our lease is going to a month-to-month basis and that we must contact them if we wish to terminate the lease or renew the lease. The postal worker requested a signature to confirm I had received it. After that month, however, they refused to let us move out claiming that by us not contacting them to terminate the lease after it had expired, we consented to renewing the lease without signing a new lease. When I challenged them they said I had renewed the lease by not terminating it. I told them I had not signed a new lease and the expired lease said nothing of automatically renewing, instead it said it goes to a month-to-month as did the letter they had sent the last month of the lease. They said I did sign so I asked if I could see the signature, expecting a forgery. They gave me a photocopy of the signature I signed for the postal service confirming I had gotten their letter about the lease expiring and going to a month-to-month. They told me that that signature renewed the lease for both myself and my roommate. That's not only illegal, it's just plain stupid. I talked to the manager of RP after being made to wait nearly an hour because he was "on the phone". He confronted him about this and he printed of some obscure Montana State law that states the rental company can renew the lease if the tenant does not respond to a notice of expiration of the lease and terminate it or renew it. Please note, however, that it states the rental company must give 30 days minimum notice and can renew the lease whenever it wants afterward, but it also states the tenant does not have a deadline to respond. Meaning RP can renew your lease after 30 days of it terminating (during which they will lie and tell you it is going to month to month to trick you into waiting the 30 days they need), but the tenant has no deadline in which they need to respond by. You can respond in 2 months and terminate it then, by that law. PLEASE if they try this with you, look at the law they print off for you and note the lack of a deadline YOU need to respond by. As I left I heard the snotty lady at the front signing up an older man and telling him the lease goes to a month-to-month basis after it expires. I wish I told him right there what was happening to me. This company uses illegal practices to try to take your deposit (as was agreed on by everyone I asked about RP all of whom once upon a time fell victim or knows someone who did). Please listen to the (real) reviews on here people are writing. This company NEEDS to lose their license. Please get the word out about this sand trap company and save your friends and family from these predators. Ask someone you know who has used RP before.

I'm pretty sure all the reviews on here were written by RP themselves. If you look elsewhere you will find very poor reviews. They WILL screw you out of your deposit by claiming you did damage although it was pre-existing. The maintenance man that they send smells horrible and is incredibly lazy. They also charged us a late fee when THEY lost our rent check. They have a $95 placement fee. Don't rent from them!

I just want to say in the defense of rental companies...if you do everything right, pay rent ON TIME, clean your unit compeletely upon move out, you will get your entire deposit back. I rented from RP for over a year, never was late on rent, and when I moved out I recieved my entire $1700.00 deposit back.

To those who complain about the maintenance issues w/their units.. Well I have paid my rent on time and have rented over two years. Just recently my garage door broke and I was not required to pay for the repairs needed. I feel that they try to help with all my maintenance needs. I am going into my third year and have no problems yet, nor do I expect any problems in the future. My previous rental company raised my rent and Rental Professionals lowered it when they took over my lease. Way to go.. Thanks

I had NO complaints with Rental Professionals. If you pay your rent on time and are a good tenant, you should have as good of an experience working with Rental Professionals as I did. Great assistance, plesant office help, they were very helpful and efficient in getting any maitenance request I had taken care of. Thanks so much....I would rent from Rental Professionals again, and I actually do.

Rental Professionals has managed the property that I own for over five years and does an outstanding job! I have read the negative comments from renters and agree that when renting to young people in a college town, there will be a larger percentage of renters that do not pay their rent on time, or will not properly care for rental properties in which they reside. Renter Professionals provides top quality rental properties at fair prices and manages those properties well. As an owner, I am impressed with the professionalism of Rental Professionals in assuring that my property is properly cared for, frequently inspected and repaired promptly if needed. I also appreciate that if necessary, irresponsible renters are promptly evicted and sued for back rents and reimbursement for repairs. I am glad that my property is professionally managed and the people who rent my property are always pleased that when they move in, it is in perfect condition.
