At Friends of Malaekahana the person who leased the land from the state is cutting the trees and bushes down at an alarming rate. Vegetation that I have seen for over 20 years has been hacked off to make roads, widen roads, make flat dirt areas for more rental structures. As you go through the tree tunnel to the right a huge area where there once was forest is gone for no apparent reason. These trees and bushes are not coming back. You go to a park to see trees and bushes. He is ruining the park's natural beauty. That park used to have so much vegetation. When I look at the other state parks I see the vegetation looks very similar as it did 20 years ago. This is sad and the State needs to step in and stop it before more is lost!

The man who leases the land from the state is the owner of a dog and has his big approx. 80lb boxer dog off leash in the park. He has a rule that no dogs are allowed there but he breaks the Hawaii State law that all dogs must have a leash in public areas. This dog has killed chickens and cats in the park. This is not safe for those who go to the park and that is why there is a leash law in the state. He should have a leash on that dog when the dog is in the park. This is only one of many bad things this owner is doing. I will be writing more about the terrible things he is doing to the park just to make more money. The park was so much better before he came there.
