Ames Farm has a huge amount of beachfront. For years, my family and several other families rented side-by-side cottages for a week in the summer and had a great time enjoying the lake and eachother. We overlooked the disrepair of the cabins because we liked the setting and the lake, as well as the tradition. That being said, the lake is pretty much all Ames Farm has going for it. In their defense, the past few years they've done some renovations which are vast improvements over what they had for a long time. However, if you're looking for three stars, keep looking. The cabins are small, not particularly clean, with fairly uncomfortable furniture and beds. You can count on something being broken every year (be it a toaster, a lamp, a chair...) and if you turn it in for a replacement at the office, it might show up in another cabin the following year as a reincarnation of itself.
It's a shame to see the place in such disrepair, as it has so much potential, however, without a whole slew more renovations, I can't recommend it with a clear conscience to anyone.

"Nine hole par three, basic course. Great if going out with family ..."
