I went to the Shalimar with my girlfriend for dinner and we thought it was fantastic. Not sure about the problem form the other review was but we had a great meal. Chicken Marsala and baked stuffed lobster was wonderful. I live in CT and eat in-the city all the time and have not had a meal this good in a long time. The Resort is very clean and beautifully renovated. The rooms are charming. We had a room with a balcony overlooking Lake Winnisquam. Nice homemade sweet bread with our continental breakfast. The pool and jacuzzi are HUGE and nice surprise to have a steam room/sauna too. It was also a nice surprise to have a gym too. We paid $99.00 a night. what a bargain! This place is a hidden gem and I can't wait to go this summer and check out the private beach.

Nice location, average motel

This is basically an average motel with a few nice perks - beach across the street (free use of canoes, kayaks, etc), large indoor pool, adjacent restaurant. Rooms were nothing special, fairly clean but noisy. Doors didn't seal out hallway noise at all and the pipes were rather gurgly!
Felt it was a bit pricey for the time of year - just under $100
Pros: Lovely view of lake from some rooms, large indoor pool
Cons: carpets were old, pipes made noise, doors let in hallway sounds
