Was with a large party on Saturday night; staff was completely unprepared for us. Everything went wrong and made a special evening turn out to be less special. Food, drinks and staff were not organized.

Pros: Multi Level

Cons: Not good for big crowds

Been here a few times and food was always outstanding; asked for the Chef and he is no longer here. Needless to say, the food is not up to par anymore. It's either overcooked or undercooked; salty or not seasoned enough. Disappointing.

Formerly Bruno's, a friend and I popped into Club A last night, having not heard much talk as to whether any good or not as a steakhouse. Lobster and Escargot to start were good, though escargot could have used more garlic. After that, it got amazing: 24oz. Prime Aged bone-in ribeyes were cooked to a perfect medium-rare with a crust that I will use as my standard for all future steaks. 5-cheese truffle mac and glazed brussel sprouts w/ bacon were two of the best sides I've ever had, affordable wine selections, and wonderful desserts. Service rivaled the food and owner/management, Bruno and Agron Selimaj, treat you like family. This was truly one of the best overall dining experiences I've had in recent memory and is going in my Top 3 for steakhouses. They really do a great job and I will definitely be bringing guests here frequently from now on.

Decor is class-act. Not like the rest of the stiff looking steakhouse. I have to say, this is not a restaurant but a dining experience. From the friendly staff, to the amazing food and service and thereafter you head up to the piano room. Steak & Chops was cooked to perfection, the sides were yummy and the pairing of wines were superb. The Chef happened to be in the dining room and we stopped him to tell him how great the food was, he was very pleasant. The owner Bruno was a class act too, making his way over to our table to ensure we were happy. This is a great way to spend an evening ....

Cons: Not open on Sunday

My husband and I had dinner at Club A Steakhouse Saturday night and we will never go back. No wonder why the place was so empty. My husbands steak was undercooked , and mine was over cooked and stringy. I ended up eating most of my meal alone as my husband watched. Our sides were flimsy and luke warm. Talk about cutting portion sizes. Is this supposed to be a steakhouse?????? Come on- get your act together here. We live in New York and eat out in steakhouses all of the time. The service was inconsistent, but friendly.
We read all of the great reviews and thought it was a good choice. We were obviously mistaken.

Pros: nothing at all

Cons: overall disappointing

You'll go here for the steak but everything is so fresh you will come back again and again. The shrimp served with two sauces is a brilliant starter and the vegetables are unforgettable. Creamed spinach and mac and cheese like you've never had before, I swear. The wine cellar is excellent, too. It's crowded but there is, of course, a reason for that. It's a great restaurant.

I went to Club A Steakhouse on Valentines day with my girlfriend & had a delicious meal. We got there at about 8 (on time for our reservation) & we were asked to wait at the bar & have a drink. The place was packed!! After about a half hour, Bruno( the owner) brought us upstairs to a table in a nice romantic, red velvet style room. The waiter came over & asked us for drinks. We ordered a nice bottle of california cabernet (Faust & at the the price they sell it at, it's definitely a deal). Franky, our waiter, was kind enough to decant it for us. Always a big plus when waiters go the extra step to decant a bottle of wine. We ordered the Porterhouse for 2, Mac & Cheese, Brussel Sprouts & Hashbrowns. Although it took a while for our food to come out(1 hour..but it's valentines day in manhattan...so its expected), we didn't mind, We were enjoying time with eachother just talking & enjoying great wine. The porterhouse was cooked the right way(charred on the outside & pink in the middle...just the way i like it. Sides were all really good too(Mac & Cheese with truffle oil & brussel sprouts with bacon) ..We didn't even want to look at the desert menu because we were full with our delicious porterhouse..Bruno, the owner, is definitely a class act. He came up to us & apologized about the wait & offered an after dinner drink with his compliments..def a nice touch..all in all..club a steakhouse was great..its just one of those nights i guess...ill be back on a "regular" night to enjoy again...

After passing Club A quite a few times and reading the great reviews, my husband and I decided to try it for Valentine?s Day. We were seated about 20 min. after our reservation, which I thought was fine since it was V-Day. We were led upstairs to a beautifully decorated, intimate dining room. Once seated, things went from classy to tacky? My husband noticed 1-inch pieces of numbered masking tape on the back of each chair. It was clear they were the table numbers, but even in chain restaurants, I have never seen obvious table numbering to help the wait staff know where to go. That lack of professionalism was carried through the rest of the night ? horrible, excruciatingly slow service (so bad you become ?friends? with the couples eating at surrounding tables because you compare stories), an owner constantly on the floor directing his staff (instead of behind the scenes), etc. But the worst part is that they piped in live music from a different room in the restaurant. This sounds nice but was the worst part of the evening. The singer had a nice voice and sang against pre-recorded music (karaoke-style) but treated the situation like it was a cheesy Vegas lounge, with one bad joke after another (one example: My friend from Moscow wanted to come to NYC to become a taxi driver but they wouldn?t let him because he was Pakistani). He told more jokes than he sang, which is really not what you want to hear when you?re trying to enjoy an expensive, romantic dinner. In addition, he didn?t stick to songs by Frank Sinatra and other crooners, but decided songs like Hava Nagilah and Kid Rock?s All Summer Long were appropriate choices. And if that wasn?t bad enough, he played pre-recorded sound effects of gun shots and sirens throughout the evening (no, I?m not kidding). The food was average for a steakhouse, but nothing could make up for the tacky entertainment and horrible service. If it were any other night besides Valentine's Day, we would have gotten up and left.

Just ate at Club A for the fifth time and we really, really enjoyed it. My brother-in-law who is a steak connaisseur loves the perfectly cooked filet mignon every single time. And he likes the mac and cheese so much he always gets a couple of extra to bring home. My husband actually loves the chicken (he's weird); I'm a vegetarian so I go for the jumbo shrimp scampi, absolutely delicious or lobster ravioli, best I've ever had. The dining areas are gorgeous - very warm and plush, creating a sexy/cozy feeling. There's always a really good vibe too - sometimes we sit upstairs where there's a piano player, who's really fun. And sometimes just at the bar for a drink and garlic herb fries :)........I recommend it wholeheartedly.

Finally, I don't have to go far for a good steak!!! Club A Steakhouse is what the upper east side has needed for years.... I'm used to traveling all the way downtown or even as far a brooklyn for a good porterhouse but thanks to a friends recommendation those long rides are OVER.... I ordered my usual; Porterhouse for 2, creamed spinach and mashed potatoes and I must say I thought it was to good to be true.... The tender, perfectly medium steak on a blazing hot sizzling plate was exactly wat I was looking for in a porterhouse.... If you live on the U.E.S and you love steak as much as I do, this is the place... Thank you club A....

I had the pleasure of dining here last weekend ... and I must say that it truly lives up to its outstanding reviews. It far exceeds the "overated" steakhouses that people often frequent throughout the city. From the appetizers to the dessert, everything was amazing! My filet mignon was perfectly cooked and the unique side dishes were a perfect complement ( especially the truffle macaronni and cheese - a MUST try!!). The service and atmosphere (not to mention the fantastic piano player) added to the ambiance of the whole dining experience. I highly recommend Club A for any occasion ... you will not be disappointed !!

We are from out of state but frequent the city 4-5 times a year. We have found our spot now! The lamb and steaks were phenomenal. Cooked to perfection and spiced just right. My wife is Greek and said it was the best lamb she ever had. The rib-eye was done to perfection. I brought my wife, daughter , and her boyfriend ,and the atmosphere was so nice we stayed for 3 hours. The staff was professional and attentive. We all shared the side dishes and appetizers, and then tasted each others desserts so we could try them all. Everything was fantastic right down to the wine. We will be coming back here on our next visit to the city.

The name says it all. It gets an A across the board. I recently went this Saturday with some friends and had a fantastic experience. From the food to the atmosphere to the service, everything was top-notch. Plus you didn't have that stuffy feeling you get when you go to some of the other steakhouses in the city (i.e. Wolfgang's, Sparks ect). I highly recommend this GEM.

I have yet to find a restaurant with a more enjoyable atmosphere than I experienced at Club A this past weekend. The man on the piano was unbelievable as was the food! The mixed grill has something for everyone, I would definitely reccommend sharing that dish when you visit! Decor, service, food, all an A++!! I will definitely be back soon!

I was looking for a different steakhouse last evening and saw the reviews of Club A on citysearch so I decided to try it. It was fabulous! This restaurant used to be Bruno's, an upscale Italian restaurant , but it has had a rebirth about 9 months ago as a first class steakhouse. The quality of the food is top notch and the entrees were cooked to perfection. The filet mignon and veal chop were large, tender and flavorful, as they should be. The blue fin tuna was fresh, seared rare and served with two delicious sauces on the side. The wild King Salmon, most likely obtained frozen at this time of year, was succulent and barely noticeable as anything but fresh.

The atmosphere was comfortable and the service was friendly and professional. The owner, Bruno, is charming and attentive to his guests.

If you're a wine geek, there is a wine cellar with a large banquet table downstairs that will accommodate a dinner for I'm guessing 10 -18 people. Bruno will store your own wine in a locker at the restaurant (for a yearly fee) and serve it to you for a modest corkage charge. Or you can BYO special bottles each time for that same modest corkage charge. While the restaurant wine list is not large, it has some good bottles of wine to match the cuisine and they are reasonably priced.

Great service, atmosphere, food and etc. Girlfriend's birthday party of 8 people. We all agreed to NO LOUNGE and NO TYPICAL NYC Steakhouse. Others that have dine at various steakhouse throughout the NYC, Vegas and etc., know where I come from!! Seated in the second floor lounge area @ out request. Try that @ other NYC steakhouses and you be met with excuse after excuse & etc. Very comfortable and relaxing atmosphere! Aptzs. Caesar Salad, French Onion, Caprese & Calamari. Absolutely delicious! 6 had various cuts if beef, 2 opted for the Salmon. Several bottles of Frescobaldi Brunello which continued into the night. Finished off with dessert and coffee! I could have chat and drank all night, thanks to the comfortable atmosphere and attentive service. Club A owners and staff have a great place here! Their experience in the industry speaks for itself!! Count us in every year and I will also celebrate my birthday @ Club A in April. Keep up the great job!

Go there on a date or friendly gathering, doesn't matter with who, because once dinner is served you'll no longer acknowledge your guest. Just in case you happen to be indecisive, you're in luck, the staff is extremely patient and accomdating. So go ahead and try, you'll see what I mean.

My first experience at Club A steakhouse was amazing. I been to many steakhouses in NYC and Club A is definetly my number one chose. My favorite, filet mignon is so delicious and cooked perfectly I can never have enough. From the side dishes try the macaroni and cheese it is so creamy it melts in your mouth. The great variety of wines just makes it perfect. The service is outstanding and the ambiance is very warm and welcoming. I just keep going back.

A truly wonderful experience!!! I have frequently dined at NYC steakhouses, but nothing compares to Club A. First off the decor is absolutely gorgeous. It creates a very warm and inviting atmosphere. I loved the fireplaces! From the minute you arrive the staff is kind and freindly, unlike other steakhouses where you sometimes feel "brushed off". The food is amazing. I particularly love the onion soup followed by a juicy filet mignon and a side of the mouth-watering five cheeses truffle "mac". The wine list is great and the prices are very reasonable. Rather you are out for a romantic date, a night with freinds, or a business dinner Club A is the place to be!!! The place is gorgeous and the food is great!!!! A must try!!!

My wife and I stumbled on this place while vacationing in NYC during the week of 9-11. The steaks were the juiciest, the Brussels sprouts roasted with bacon were amazing, and the baked potato was almost the size of a football, good thing we didn't order two! The service was first class, very nice place, perfect for a date, we will certainly be back. Thanks to the owner for the drink offer, we will take you up on it next time.

Great food and service. Me and a group of friends went last week and I had to write about the food. It really was one of the best experiences I have had in Steakhouses. The meat was tender, the fish was really fresh and the sides were really good and I am not a fan of vegs!! After dinner drinks in the lounge topped off the evening. A definite must.

The meat was tender, the fish was really fresh and the sides were really good and I am not a fan of vegs!! After dinner drinks in the lounge topped off the evening. A definite must.

Pros: Food, Service, Lounge

.

Bruno has knocked it out of the park with this spot. By far the best combination of steak, seafood and side dishes I've had in NYC and the service was outstanding. It's a great atmosphere for a date, a night out with friends or entertaining clients. Club A is a must and you better hurry because you won't be able to get a table in a month.

This place has undergone a fantastic rebirth and transformation. It is a stylish and dignified steakhouse that's a great alternative to all the old, worn out, and chain chop shops in midtown. In a neighborhood full of beef joints that are past prime or depending on an outdated reputation with uniform mediocrity, Club A is the place to go.
The service is professional, considerate & diligent, and the atmosphere is fantastic. The vibe is cool enough to take a date and serious enough for business clients. But it is the food that is among the best in the area.
In addition to great steaks, the fish is perfectly prepared and the sides are outstanding. They have a diverse but succint wine list showcasing the expected choices along with a few obscure gems. Definitely give this place a look if you're in the mood for American food in Midtown. This is the hot new spot for the East 50's.

I have frequented all Steakhouses in NYC where you are met with a cold shoulder unless "you know someone" and still I find the steakhouses a bit cold-shouldered. But not at Club A Steak house.

From the moment, I walked in the door of this beautiful Upper East Side Townhouse, formerly known as Bruno Ristorante for 30 years, I was treated as royalty. The owner of Club A Steakhouse, Bruno Selimaj, has the welcoming presence of a True Restauranteur which is hard to find nowadays when going out for steak, or any cuisine in NYC for that part. His generous, and amicable demeanour is one to be cherished when dining in NYC restaurants. You will be truly delighted with your experience here from the moment you walk in, to the final step out the door. It is a must try.

A must try is the Royal Seafood Platter!! Follow it up with a Filet Mignon that melts in your mouth!! The wine list is moderately priced and put together very well!!
Two Thumbs up for Club A Steakhouse!!

If you can, you must try the second floor piano room for an after dinner drink. The ambiance of the restaurant just makes you want to drink and eat like royalty!!

Went to Club A to celebrate my Husband's bday. Seated promptly, Nicky our waiter covered each menu item with a description- his knowledge of the menu was exceptional and he had great recommendations. We tried the seafood platter appetizer and the escargots . Yum... that's all I have to say. We were so excited about our dinner after tasting appetizers. I had the prime NY strip along with a baked potato and creamed spinach . My husband ordered fish and he loved it! We also had Key lime pie for dessert- very good. Nicky made our dining experience memorable, we never lacked for attentive service. Thank YOU Club A. Everything was outstanding.

I have been to Club A twice now- always impressed! From the intriguing ambiance (sultry) to the attentive, knowledgeable staff- Club A is a new Hot-Spot. The food is of the best quality and cooked to perfection by the French chef (who we got to meet) from Bobby Van's. I tried various items on the menu- the ones that really stick out are noted here: Sherry & Aged Gruyere Onion Soup was AMAZING- Great twist on the traditional French Onion, the Caesar Salad was just perfect and the U-7 Shrimp Cocktail were large and tasty. I have had both the Filet and the Porterhouse for two- top quality, tender and even better with their Club A steak sauce! The Truffle Mac n Cheese is soooo good and a must order. We had a creamy cheese cake to finish- if you go to this restaurant expect to EAT, as you don't want to miss out on any of it. It's worth every dollar and I can't wait to go back! Oh yeah, they have a really entertaining pianist upstairs.

Have been there twice. First time with party of 10. Second time
party of 3
Menu offers wide variety of appetizers and salads-
the shrimp are very large, tender and sweet
the crab meat is moist and just firm enough
the Caesar salad is excellent
the onion soup with gruyere is a real treat
The Filet is just crusty enough on the outside, moist and pink
inside ( the way it was ordered)
The second visit one special was Beef Short Ribs done Osso Bucco style
if it is available strongly suggest you get it
The Porterhouse, Eagle strip, and Rib eye were equally good.
There were only compliments about the 13 meals
Everyone I was with went there for the beef.
We all agreed the food was as good as any at the "name" steak
houses, and better than most.
The service was friendly and professional.
Upstairs is more seating and a lounge area.
Ambience is both comfortable, intimate, relaxing.
13 full dinners and everyone a treat
Great dinning experience !!
