Sherwin-Williams has been in business since 1866. The Company's core business is the manufacture, distribution and sale of coatings and related products. We also manufacture and sell coatings such as Dutch Boy, Pratt & Lambert, Martin-Senour, Dupli-Color, Krylon, Thompson's and Minwax plus private label brands to independent dealers, mass merchandisers and home improvement centers. We produce coatings for original equipment manufacturers in a number of industries and special purpose coatings for the automotive aftermarket, industrial maintenance and traffic paint markets.
I know SW paint is hard to find in the city which is one of the main reasons painters prefer Benjamin Moore.
The quality of both is comparable, however SW has a far superior color chart and fan deck. As an interior design company we always select colors from SW. The gradations between each hue are very subtle.
Benjamin Moore has a large selection but the colors don't seem to relate to each other.
Pros: superior fan deck and color choices
Cons: hard to source in manhattan
