I love going here! The atmosphere is tight nit and friendly. Lots of regulars and the place is small so you get to know eachother! Love the break dancers!!! Fun times!

I just wanted to make a note to all that I have been to Ambrosia several times and never once had a bad meal or service. There are times that service is slow or confusing because of the busy time of night, but I was shocked to read a review from a patron that mentioned Stuck up service. There are all different types of restaurant atmospheres to choose from. If you want a burger...go to Dorsey's!! But Ambrosia to me is a place to enjoy unique & different foods. I actually beg my husband to go there whenever we go out to eat without our children. (And note, my kids don't wear make-up). I recommend Ambrosia's to everyone I know and tell my friends to dress nice because the dining is geared towards an upscale experience!!!

Cons: None

Our experience here was just a mess. I wish I'd read the other reviews on this site before we went and avoided the place altogether. I have to laugh at the comments about enforcing the dress code, as the very pushy fellow at the door was in a scrubby, too small t-shirt and jeans.

Aside from the extraordinarily rude host (owner?) and hostess, the food was a disaster. I know signature made up martinis with 18 different absurd ingredients are trendy, but how sad that a classic martini is delivered with mealy, odorous olives that ruin the drink. It smelled so bad I didn't want to drink it. The croutons in the caesar were stale, and the dressing was a creamy mess. And when my husband commented that his steak was not a very good cut of meat, that should have been a warning to what it did to his stomach several hours later.

Do your stomach a favor and walk down the street to one of the other, palatable restaurants in the square.

Pros: Can't think of any...

Cons: Service rude, food a disaster

I agree everybody there was snotty. My boyfriend asked if he could order a burger off the lunch menu for dinner and was answered with a snotty remark, they didnt flinch when we left. I thought it was a restaurants job to cater to the customers not be stuck up to them. I dont know how this resturant does good buisness. I guess it is the ppl from the suburbs that allow their seven year old daughters to wear make-up that come in and like to go out to eat someplace "nice".

I completely enjoyed my experience at Ambrosia's. That I will return and in fact recommend to others. The staff was incredible and very efficient with the service they provide.
My experience with the the night club well ... I am glad that they are doing something to better the dress code. Most of the people that were there looked like they were just about to go to bed then out of the blue decided to go to a night club ... in a t-shirt and pajama pants. And I am referring to the girls. Have a little self conservation. Put on some decent clothes when you leave the house, or , just stay in !!!
From all the restaurants & nightlclubs that I have ever been to I have never seen such nasty dressed people. That was a drag. I am not suggesting only the pretty people be let in. But definiety can tell the difference from someone who took the time to get dress to someone who should just party at home.
Care about you appearence, realize who you are representing ...YOU !!! And if you don't care than don't grip when someone doesn't care to invite you in an atmosphere that calls for more than a t-shirt and PJ pants.

Care about yourself

A group of me and my friends were at this bar for a while, I went out side with my friends to smoke and I went back in to use the bathroom (not stumbling or anything!) and came out walked to the bar and a bouncer grabbed my arm and put his hand on my back and literally pushed me out the door so hard! When I asked him what I did he said "you are out of here, you have a blue Id" What is a Blue Id?? I asked a cop after and he said he had never heard of it! This club throws people out or won't let people in for no reason what so ever!!! I will never go there again!!!! U would think especially on such a busy day like the St. Patty's day parade they would be a little less rude!

I had a real bad experience as soon as walk to the door. We were a group of three from NYC that wanted to have some fun but apparently we were not dress to standard. Come on!!!! Our dress code was just like when you go to a NYC club, even better. The only thing security said "Not tonight buddy". So we then stepped back, just waited and they let people in with some dirty running shoes and ripped trash jeans. I don't know "BUDDY" but what kind of dress code you follow.......or you pick your own people.

If you're looking for a spot where both suburbanites and girls looking for sugar daddies gather for poor food and very weak, over priced dirnks, this is your place.

RESTAURANT:

The food is horrible, the sushi worse than supermarket sushi. The drinks are weak and overpriced and at least five years behind the times (seriously, cosmopolitans?) The service is arrogant and rushed, with the servers obviously the "cool kids" from high school who never made it out of town--they're still trying to be the cool kids, and they spend so much time interacting with each other and the sugar daddies that the ice in your drink will be half melted by the time you get it.

The steak was so overcooked it was inedible, and a gentle request for a new one brought down the wrath of the server and manager. The crab cakes are good and a safe bet if you're looking for a quick bite before hitting the bar.

BAR:

The bar is okay--just a big, generic club with a mix of people. Bar service is SLOW and snotty, with the drinks underpoured and overpriced. The bartenders can't make much beyond a basic well drink so stick to beer or wine.

Cons: Service; food; "there to be seen" clientelle from the suburbs

First impresion as security enforced the dress code (NO jeans hoodies, etc.) was this place has a 'flava' standards.

Great clusters of women upon entry (the tight jeans set, etc.)

Top 40 select on the Turntables (Hot Reggaeton and Fat Joe was the limit)

Bar service was alil tired and labored (sheesh the 5 dollar tip that I left for my first $6 drink managed to bring forth a lil more friendly service).

Put it all together and its a good local 'kick off' spot; No cover and a 'what it is' kind of location.

I've seen reviews from others that likened this locale to NYC; and to be fair Ambrosia does not have a demanding NYC clientele - therefore, it is a decent local venue.

My suggests to management:

Security - enforce the dress (NO thuggin wear) and keep up the good work:)

DJ - expand your CD/Record pool beyond MTV

Bartenders - swift and courteous service with a smile; Proper service = Proper tips

There are much better places to go in Armory Square. Just getting in the door of Ambrosia is a hassle, then once inside, it's quite small and nothing out of the ordinary, not worth waiting in line for an hour..5 minutes, maybe....

There is nothing I can say negative about Ambrosia's. When I had my first meal there with some girlfriends we were treated like old friends and the service was excellent. That has since encouraged me to come back over and over again. I usually go on Friday evenings and have a few drinks. The staff has embraced me like an extended family member and I always feel like they care. I know I can always go to Ambrosia's and have a nice meal and pleasant intelligent conversation with the staff. Other patrons I have met there are all nice people too. The atmosphere is definitely classy but not snooty in the least bit. The food may be a tad pricey but it is worth every penny.

This place was very nice. I liked that there was no cover, and the DJ played old school dance and R&B (my favorite!)...I also liked that he had a personality and talked to you between songs, he also does play a song usually if you request it. The free drink samples and shot samples are always nice and they always have some sort of theme party going on and free small gifts like the blinking lights and such. It's a fun time and isn't entirely made up of scrubs and college guys, like PJ Dorseys. It's very classy!

I found the Ambrosia restaurant staff to be the nicest, most accomodating people ever! I made numerous special requests for a large party I was having there and not only did they bend over backwards to meet all the demands, they completely exceeded all my expectations. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant!
