Very convenient location, (We arrived at Penn Station). The room was a very pleasant surprise! Big and roomy, even though some reviews had claimed otherwise. The location is great for exploring New York.

My fianc and I wanted to visit the city for a quick break during her time off early Spring Break as she calls it. Both of us dont really have a lot of loose change at this moment so we researched this place, foremost for price, but also because we wanted to cram as much as possible into our three day trip price and location were the game changers. This hotel really stood out for us because it was right opposite MSG so we could use the subway to get down to Chinatown and up to the MET, which was a big plus. When we got there, the hotel met expectations. Lobby was shiny clean and the staff were helpful whenever we saw them. Our room was reasonably spacey. The bed was a double and it was comfy enough and we didnt have any problems getting any sleep. Plus, we werent too cramped when it came time to pack all the clothes we bought back into our bags before our flight home. I guess Im such a big advocate of this hotel because of how comfortable it makes me when visiting such a big city and how easy it makes it to have everything at my fingertips. I would say the room was adequate enough for a three to four day stay and just the ability to do everything in such a short amount of time really helps boost the happy factor. I would recommend this hotel for people looking for something simple and those whose time is valuable and dont want to have to commute or rent a car or anything.

After a smooth flight to New York, we landed and hopped in a yellow cab to the Pennsylvania on 7th Ave. Not knowing what to expect being a first time visitor I was delighted when we pulled up to the hotel to see the old school glamor feeling it had. Walking through the grand entrance I was delighted, and even more so as we were taken aside out of the queue to check in. After booking a standard room, we were upgraded to an executive, which meant it was double the size. The bed was one of the comfiest beds I have ever slept in in my life, the room was clean and tidy and the staff were so friendly and helpful. The perfect affordable midtown hotel that done exactly what we needed.

The hotel was clean, the front desk and temporary luggage storage staff were extremely kind and helpful, our room on the 12th floor was great, and the hotel's location is simply fantastic. We stayed in a Penn 5000 room, so we had complimentary breakfast (bagels, pastries, and oj) every morning and coffee, tea, and hot chocolate, and Internet access 24 hours per day. I have absolutely no complaints.

The hotel staff is friendly, efficient, and helpful...all in a way that prevents a huge hotel from being impersonal.

Came in town for the weekend. We are very satisfied with Pennsylvania Hotel. Our room was very comfortable. The hotel location is really good. Staff was great, our room was kept clean and we were even given an upgrade when the Internet wasn't working in my room.

My fiance and I spent Valentine's day in the city and spent our evening here. This place is beautiful, very comfortable and posh, the kind of thing you want for a romantic weekend. The room was extremely clean, well decorated and comfortable and the bathroom was huge. It was exactly what you'd want. Fabulous!

The location was excellent and the staff was fantastic. Cynthia was especially helpful when I was not feeling well. The door of the room was shaped like a submarine capsule or asylum door. It was very amusing. They had computers and internet in the lounge and the free printing and faxing was great as part of the 500 club. Also, the force of the water from the shower was like a pulsating massage. I enjoyed my stay and will be a repeat customer.

This hotel is in a prime location if you want to be in midtown close to all the 'touristy' hotspots. The hotel foyer has a fantastic atmosphere with a lot of guests coming and going. There is always people around so you feel very safe and it is great for those traveling solo. There is a 24hour cafe in the foyer also, so it makes it easy for you to grab any items to take back to your room. The subway/Penn Station is on your doorstep and other major attractions.

Location. You cant beat that. Just in front of the Penn Station and Madison Square Garden; Broadway and Times Square are just nearby. Empire State Bldg..And of course, its at 7th Ave.! (Simon and Garfunkel's favorite place to hang out I presume) Shopping areas, variety of restaurants are just a stone throw away. Very convenient if you are traveling with young children. Our room had two double beds and we were pleasantly surprised by how large it was. The room was clean and the staff was friendly. We will stay at this hotel on any future trips to NYC.

2Nd time staying at the Pennsylvania. Had no complaints either time. Room was clean, very comfortable. Supplied with hairdryer, iron, ironing board, clean towels each day, clean beds, extra pillows were found in drawers, and a full size fridge. Shampoo, conditioner, soaps, body lotion, mouth wash etc. were supplied every day. The venue was very central and we had no problem finding our way to anywhere. Staff were very helpful when booking in and out. We found it great value. The facility to store our bags before and after booking in/out was very good and efficient. Would stay there again.

Excellent reception and concierge service! The best hotel to stay in New York as it's location is perfect! The rooms were very clean and modern which is difficult to find in New York. The house maids were very friendly as so were all the other staff. I would most definitely return to this hotel on my next visit to New York and recommend it to my friends and family.

I loved this place. I travel to NY on a fairly frequent basis and this place is WAY BETTER than any of the hotels that I have visited that are equally priced. The rooms were clean and public transportation was nearby. I also appreciated the guy out front who helped me catch a cab (not exactly easy in NY when it is raining). Lots of places deliver to the hotel so there are many options for room service.

The hotel is comparable to many hotels in Europe catering to the traveler who does not wish to spend lots of time in the room, but who wants to have a safe, clean, moderately inexpensive place to stay. It was clean, comfortable, and basic.

The Hotel Pennsylvania is in a perfect location for a Manhattan sightseeing vacation. The price is affordable (relative to New York prices). It's directly across the street from Penn Station/Madison Square Garden, a few blocks from Times Square, 2 blocks from the Empire State Building. Subway stations are on two of the closest corners, as are taxi stands and city bus stops. There are plenty of local restaurants very close by.

The hotel is located in the heart of the Manhattan, between Penn Station and Madison Square Garden. It is on walking distance (about 10 min) from Times Square and about 15 min from Greenwich Village. Room and bathroom were large for NY standards and very clean. Furniture is fine but do not expect anything fancy. A number of restorants is around the hotel. Because of Pann Station and close subway station, the commuting is very easy. Caffee bar inside hotel works 24 hours. The services are very good. Waiting time at reception desk was minimal. I could recommend this hotel to NY visitors. Price/performance ratio is great.

For the location, you can't beat this hotel. Located directly across Madison Square Garden and with the convenience of grabbing a cab right outside the hotel doors, that's an immediate plus. However, the rooms are pretty dated and not the best accommodations. But if you're a tourist staying here, you're just giddy to be in the heart of NY!

This place is at the heart of New York. It is one place where you can be sure to get a room, any time of the year. It is also helpful to stay here and save money by avoiding excessive travel using trains.

This is a hidden treasure in the center of Manhattan. The rooms aren't fancy but they"re clean and very reasonably priced. If you visiting the city on your own pocket book give this spot a try.

The Hotel Pennsylvania in the Center of New York City is an excellent place to stay if you're visiting New York and you're not really interested in spending a lot of time in the room. The best part of this hotel is its location. The rooms are not really luxurious, but offer the bare necessities of a hotel and you can't beat being across the street from Madison Square Garden and Macys!

This is a classic case of you get what you pay for. Sure the room rates at under $100 are very tempting, but please, don't be lured in.
The hotel is in desperate need of some updating and some cleaning. The staff is aloof and unpleasant. The rooms are small and dirty.
The location is very central - right across from Madison Square Garden, but even this doesn't make it tempting to return.
If you need a budget hotel in NYC, please, try priceline or hotwire for a bargain. Avoid the Hotel Pennsylvania.

I actually saw the comments of this hotel before I went to NYC. But I didn't want to believe. However, when I arrived at the hotel I realised that all those reviews were true. ESPECIALLY: If you wish to get a city tour of NYC DO NOT get it from the hotel. They will give you missing information. We wanted to get a city tour and an access pass to top of the Empire State Building. There are 2 type of passes. One is regular which you can go to the 86th floor only nad the other one is express which you can go to the 102nd floor. We bought the express one. However, when we went the the empire state building the security told us that this ticket does not allow us to the 102nd floor. We were shocked. We said that we have an express pass which we paid more money. They said express pass only allows to go to the 86th floor.
The next day we went to that kiosk and complained. They said, they had a new empoyee under still training and when he realised the mistake he tried to reach us from our room. Of course we were not in the room because we went out to see the beauty of the city. The guy under still training hasitated to leave a voice mail to the room phone.
This was so unbelievable and unacceptable. Even if we go to NYC again. We WILL NOT stay at this hotel.
DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMENDED TO ANYONE.
Pros: location
Cons: rude and unknowledgeble staff, small and dirty rooms.
This is easily the most disgusting hotel I have ever stayed. I wanted something close to Madison Square Garden. I didn't need anything fancy. However, I was not prepared for this awful hotel. The window had hand prints, the mirrow was rusted, the bathroom door looked like a large dog had chewed on it for hours, the tile in the shower was falling off, the bottom of the shower was black with mildew, the air vent was dirty, the outlet plate was broken. When I complained to them they said "Our hotel is old." I tried to help them understand that age had nothing to do with it. It was FILTHY. I'd love to post actual pictures as opposed to the ones on their site. I wouldn't stay there again if it was free. If you are dumb enough to stay there at least make sure you have had all of your shots first.
Pros: i lived to tell about it
Cons: dirty, falling apart, indifferent staff
So, I was out of town for a month and my boyfriend wanted to welcome me back with a nice quiet, fun night in a hotel. This place is a joke, the lobby is beautiful but besides that it's a dump. Once we walked in my boyfriend's excited expression turned to a redfaced frown. The bed was as hard as a rock, the view was terrible the paint was chipped, the water was brown when I first turned it on. The cleaning staff kept banging on our door because there wasn't a Do Not Disturb sign, They made a lot of noise outside our door, conversing and what not. You know I'm so over Manhattan trying to make things seem so nice because its in Manhatttan, this place was a joke. My boyfriend was mad because he planned a nice night. We went to St. Marks hotel one night and it was way nicer than this place. Save your money!!!! Or ask to sleep in the lobby!!!
Pros: Nice Lobby
Cons: Small rooms, inconsiderate cleaning staff, uncomfortable beds, too pricey, bad view, small bathroom, dirty
You truly cannot beat $150/night for this hotel. It is not the Four Seasons or the W but it will do. I stay here every time I visit NYC which is about 3-4 times a year. It is in the center of it all. With Penn Station and Madison Square Garden across the street to watch those basketball games. One time I stayed here and we had to share a twin bed. But when I went back I had a larger room, queen bed and a mini-fridge. It's just a toss up on what room you get. I will be staying there again in 2weeks.
Pros: Budget, Location
Cons: Elevators
My stay here was horrible. Even though I was paying $150/night it felt like I was in a closet with a matress in it. The rooms feel like they have 50 square feet in them! After making my reservation, I read reviews and wanted to change hotels but they insisted that my stay would be perfect-WRONG! The lines are long and you cant reach housekeeping, the front desk, or anywhere else from the room telephone. I was about to die! The only good thing was that there was a buisness center down the hall from me in which I got to watch tv and make myself a good cup of coffee in. NOT RECOMMENDED!
Pros: good location, good buisness center, moderate prices
Cons: horrible service, small rooms, not worth it!
I realize it wasn't the priciest room in Manhattan, but what I got looked like a low-end motel room, or a closet with a bed in it. Hotel lobby and entrance is beautiful, but the rooms themselves are sub-par. The bathroom was small but looked clean. The bed was ugly, the furniture was unattractive...the kind of place you'd pay about 45 bucks a night for if it wasn't for the fact that you were in New York. If it's in any way worth it, it's for the prime location and attractive EXTERIOR, but not much else.
Pros: Location
Cons: Price, Quality of Room, View
