I have lived a block away for 4 years and been here a million times. It used to be my favorite back when roger and a couple other great bartenders. I don't really know anyone who works there now. Seems to always be someone different.

I remember when Soda was a place I could walk in and see a friendly neighborhood face behind the bar. There would be an interesting soundtrack and if you'd like the bartender could offer some intelligent banter. Those times seem few and far between these days. Over the last year the familiar faces have dwindled and it seems each time I go in for a drink there is a new one behind the bar. The personality of Soda Bar is slipping away to mindless robots that can almost make a basic cocktail. Very little thought is given to the music that is being played. Almost as if the house ipod is on continuous shuffle. Don't get me wrong there are a few personable bartenders left and if you are lucky enough to encounter one you'll be pleasantly surprised. Nothing beats a well mixed cocktail, good tunes and a bartender that knows how to hold, entertain a crowd and set a mellow vibe.

It leads me to believe it's all a matter of shotty management. It doesn't take a rocket surgeon to figure out if you are the only late night bar left in your neighborhood it would be smart and profitable to keep your kitchen open till at least 2, the bar open till 4. Reliability goes a long way. A moron could run this place and still make money and apparently is...

Don't get me wrong though. The food is great, they show some pretty interesting films and the patio is revamped. Just watch out for the vermin. Saw them scare a few patrons this past weekend.

Pros: Great neighborhood spot

Cons: Bad management and rodents

Wonderful little place for an after work drink. The food is also not bad. A step up from your average bar fare. If you go earlier the crowd is a little more low key. Later the bar aspect really pops up and the night really starts. The bartenders are great, definitely go!

There was plenty of space to meet-up which was key, as we had a large group all showing up at different times. The back area had scaffolding above, so it felt like hanging out a construction site, though it was a no frills crowd, so that was fine. Hopefully, they'll remove that soon.

As for food, the sausage sandwich was great, fries were soggy but still tasty, though the fried fish is best left in the freezer from whence it came.

Service is unfriendly and slow overall, but I'd head back for the space and versatility alone.

I used to go here when it was just the one little side with the pool table in the back. Now they've expanded into the space next door and filled it with lots of cool old victoria chairs and sofa. It's a really nice place to meet up and talk in the dark. But the nicest thing is the large outdoor space and enjoying a nice beer in the summer breezes. The burgers are really good too. Haven't had the other food available though. Highly recommended for relaxing and eating anytime in the neighborhood.

Oh hell no. I've been to Soda many times, and I like it fine, but nothing prepared me for my experience last night. So I got stuck with this awful queen waiter - I'll call him Cuntyqueentay. He had shoulder-length bobbed curly hair and wore palazzo pants with a blousy tunic top: very 'Fame gone to pasture.,' you expected him to pirouette away from you after taking your order.

ANYway, I know I'm being ridiculous with these descriptions, but seriously, Cunty had the stankest attitude. And I mean, I waited tables for three years and can appreciate a bitchy queen. This was not that. Homegirl bitched me out for ordering a drink at the bar (instead of through him), which I only did because I couldn't find him for 20 minutes. Wouldn't make eye contact after that, slamming things down on the table and walking away, shaking his head, after I apologized for not ordering through him. Same with the check, exasperated sighs and eye rolls. I felt like he demanded a diva showdown! You know what? Hated itttt. I left my maraschino cherry in that untouched container of mayo and I've never felt better. Cuntyqueentay, you know who you are.

It was a great place all around. The waitress was friendly and checked up on me enough but not too much to the point that she got annoying... The french fries and buffalo wings are DELICIOUS. I've been thinking about them ever since. The atmosphere is very comfortable. Its good for a night out with your friends or a friendly romantic date. Candles on the tables, the dim lighting, and comfortable seating (couches and comfy chairs) make for a great experience. For sports lovers, theres a big screen tv in a separate room also equipped with comfy seating to view all the major sports events... I LOVED IT

Really love the digs. The second room (to the left of the bar) is a great place to sit and eat, never too loud or too crowded but fun and active nonetheless. Couches and tables are comfortable, and even better, during good weather the outdoor seating is really fantastic, a great place to just sit and eat. The service is friendly but very often quite slow, this is forgivable since it's such a nice place to just hang - I'd recommend going when you're up for a relaxing meal, but not when you're hungry for a quick fix, cause it might take awhile. The biggest caveat though is to definitely order the Soda Burger - it's one of the best in Brooklyn - but the rest of the menu doesn't live up. It doesn't really need to though, the burger is what you go there for and it won't disappoint.

If you want to give up on life, you should give your money to Soda Bar. This is one of the most poorly run establishments in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn. If you want to see "money-grubbing" between business owners at its best....take the time and visit. Don't for get the extra cash for an eightball- there are a few people there who can help you out.

I JUST MOVED TO PROSPECT HEIGHTS WITH TWO OF MY BEST FRIENDS. ONE A GAY MAN AND
THE OTHER A BUDDING LESBIAN AND THEN THERE IS ME, I STILL DON'T KNOW... FOUR WEKS AGO I WENT TO SODA AND HAD A GREAT TIME, I FELT LIKE THEY ACCEPTED EVERYONE. SINCE THEN I'VE BROUGHT MY ROOMATES AND NUMEROUS FRIENDS IN. THE STAFF IS BUSY BUT AMAZING, SUCH GREAT UNIQUE AND INVITING PERSONALITIES. WE LOVE THE MALE WAITER AND HIS HUMOR. THE TWO MALE BARTENDERS ARE QUICK AND CHARMING. THE WOMAN ARE BEAUTIFUL AND UNIQUE, ONCE YOU GET TO KNOW THEM, WHICH MIGHT TAKE SOME TIME, BUT IS WORTH THE EFFORT. GOOD BAR FOOD. IT HAS AMAZINGLY DIVERSE PATRONS AND DEMANDS THAT WE LEAVE OUR DIFFERNCE AT THE DOOR, OR MAYBE ITS JUST THE STRONG DRINKS THAT MAKES US MINGLE. SODA BAR UPHOLDS THE IDEAL, OF WHAT ALL US IMIGRANTS CAME LOOKING FOR, AS WE PACKED OUR BAGS AND HEADED TO NY CITY.

I used to live down the street and would stop in to Soda a couple times a month because I really liked the place. I hadn't been there in a few months until this weekend and things have certainly changed. The bartender told us we had to sit at a table and somone would be over to take our drink order. The guy finally showed up at our table and asked us if we wanted menus too, we said yes and he immediately walked off without asking us about drinks. He gave us menus and took off again. We had to wave him over to put in a drink order (this was after being there for close to 20 minutes). He took my drink order and walked off - without asking my boyfriend what he wanted. They have a good happy hour deal as my beer was only $3 but somehow my boyfriend's drink of a vodka tonic(he was able to order after I got my drink) was $10. Looking around the place it seemed like others were having the same frustrating experiences with the wait staff. I'll never return.

Cons: slow, rude, unattentive service

Multiple visits with friends who live in the neighborhood (and have learned to avoid this place) have finally convinced me it's not worth it. You can get a seat, but don't expect to get served for at least a half an hour, even when it's only half full. Horrible disappointment.

A friend and I have been going to Soda on Wednesdays for months now. The bartender is super nice. The food is ultra tasty. After tonight, I'm never going back.

We get there, it's crowded, and we see group grab all their stuff and leave a table, so we grab it. About seven minutes later, the waitress comes over and, instead of taking our order, tells us the people sitting there before us might come back, and that we need to immediately leave.

Since when do waitresses kick people off tables because the people who were sitting there and left, MIGHT be coming back? If the people who were sitting there came back and said something, that'd be one thing. But the fact that the waitress came over to tell us to leave after making us wait, is ridiculously insulting.

Soda's hard to beat for those of us on the other side of Flatbush. Great burgers, good music and a good selection of oddball beers. Service can be a bit slow at times, but never surly or arrogant (this is coming from a once-a-week regular). The pool table is gone, but the patio is great while the weather lasts. Meanwhile the lounge needs a change. It's either: A) Stuck on the same song in repeat. B) Blasted by DJs C) A distant third-place overflow spot, after the patio and the bar.

I used to love Soda, but they must have changed owners. The nice bartender is gone, and has been replaced by some guy who gladly serves every girl wearing a tight, hot pink shirt with "Juicy" written on it in sequins, but will pass over everyone else. The waitresses are so inept and mean that it's actually pretty entertaining. Plus you can save some money since you don't have to tip them. But going somewhere else is an even better idea.

It's been a while since anyone has submitted a review for Soda. I just wanted to say that it's still great. It's the best bar in Prospect Heights. I live in Carroll Gardens and try to go at least once every few weeks. The service, the beer selection, the food and the jukebox are all excellent.

This place gets a solid 8 - great neighborhood bar, with a few downers. One - the garden closes too early. Two - DJs on Sundays. Runis the atmosphere on a night I would love to spend in the 'hood.

The food is good to very good (for pub grub - avoid the pizzas, though), nice selection of beers on tap (and they usually have the right glassware for Weisses!), nice, calm garden.

BRING BACK THE 2 FOR 1 HAPPY HOUR (besides our night on Mondays!)

Finally, a decent bar in Prospect Heights! Actually, Soda is more than decent, it's quite good. Cute and professional barkeeps work a well-stocked bar and serve above-average burgers, fish & chips, pizzas, etc. The space is well organized, clean and comfortable. The jukebox selection features a great selection pop from the past 2 decades or so: St. Etienne, The Cure, The Smiths, Madonna, AC/DC, and much more. And, it's not expensive. Now it's worth taking a trip this Brooklyn neighborhood, even from Manhattan. How about dinner at Garden Cafe or the Osteria just down the street and then drinks at Soda? Yes.

Best juke box I have ever seen (from Outkast to Silver Jews to Bjork). Very ecclectic atmosphere and reasonably priced drinks. If you are indie and you want to be cool, you would already know about Soda Bar. The food is also very good and very cheap. A must for Brooklyn virgins and gigolos.

I wish I could give a good reason to give this place a bad review because it is getting harder and harder to find a quiet night to just chill out here. The only negative is when the happy hour was changed from 2 for 1 to $3.50 drinks. Geronimo's food is great, the drinks are better and if you go on a night Dan or Kiley is working, the service is best. The pool table is open weeknights.

Good crowd (friendly locals), decent space (comfy 10+ seat bar and a handful of tables), billiards on the upper deck, choice of cds or juke for tunes, limited menu (bar food basics) and kitchen's open til 12MN. The burgers are damn good (solid 4 out of 5) and the pizza's ok - just the right amount of grease. Get it with sausage. Drinks are top-notch, especially if you hit the place Wed/Thur/Sat; that's when Dan's on. And Dan's the man. What seals the deal? Coffee machine's right there.
I spent four hours on a pre-TGIF Thursday and went home thoroughly satisfied with what I saw/drank/ate at Soda Bar. It's worth the trip out to Brooklyn. Bring your friends! Highly recommended.

Great bar - atmosphere and barstaff couldn't be better. Top Ozzie barmaid who makes up most fantastic drinks (try the Kylie special with captain morgan). Excellent food too - good fish & chips and local brooklyn beers. Now has jukebox and pool table to keep everyone happy. Good, unpretentious, fun and friendly.

where did all the hipsters and yuppies come from? this spot is cool enough to bring all sorts out of the woodwork (or prevent them from crossing flatbush for the 5th ave scene). two for one happy hour rocks, and fish and chips are fantastic. one complaint: they cover up the pool table on fridays and saturdays (so you wont find me there then).

A great, mellow neighborhood oasis in Prospect Heights. Great bartenders, decent jukebox, and a classic, diverse mix of people - Bklyn style. What did I ever do before this place opened up?
