We had the worst worst worst experience with this management company, and the experience continues to devolve. First, they took our deposit money and tried to rent us an apartment that had already been rented for a week. When we asked them to show us the apartment once more before we finalized the paperwork, they made us wait for about 6 hours until a time that was convenient for them. Me and my roommate decided to go check it out for ourselves at a time we were available, and the doorman informed us that the apartment had been rented. They managed to find us an apartment in the same building, but when it came to signing the lease, they told us we needed to wait 3 days, because the broker (we worked with Lior) was taking a vacation to visit his family in Washington DC. As someone who does not live in the city at the moment, but is planning to move there, these extra few days were extremely inconvenient and costly. Not only did the management company insist we pay the entire broker's fee after such terrible service, they also did not give or send us the lease we had signed. Instead they emailed us a copy of a blank lease, without the additional information or rider specific to our apartment. Even after proding, they were only able to send us a generic lease/rider, without our notes/signatures. Furthermore, although we had been assured that it was an August 15th move-in date, the reality was that the building was doing renovations and the apartment was not be available until the end of the month.

I have nothing but great things to say about Metropolitan Property Group and all the agents that work there. I have worked with the whole of the company and they all do their best to pay close attention to details as well as the needs of myself and my family. One of the agents that I have had the joy of working with was Del Vidaurri, he dedicated his time day and night to meet my needs and the help my family find our first home in New York City. The negative posting about him just sounds like an X-girlfriend out for some revenge. He is warm, sociable and gave me nothing but quality in service. He has not only made me his client but his friend. Even on a busy day for him, he not only took the time for all my needs with my new apartment but he also took the time for my family to make the move to New York City a breeze. He even took time with my son to teach him to ride a skateboard. I don??t think any agent I have even met has done anything like that. He has been a true joy and a blessing for this ??NEW? New York City Family. Thank you Del.

I cannot make comments about the company as a whole because I did not work with the whole company. However, I can make comments about this agent, Del, who I worked with. This guy is the worst person to work with. He is not organized because he keeps forgetting stuff. When I went to the office to sign the lease, it literally took him half an hour to find it. It was really frustrating. When you tell him to do something for you, do not expect him to do it immediately because he won't. i told him to talk to the owner of the building to fix the door and floor in the apartment before I move in, it took three weeks for him to call the owner and fix them, so we literally had a broken door and floor for a while. He is a busy guy so he just does not understand how to take care of his clients and tenants. He does not care about any personal issues. He is simply indifferent. My advice is do not work with him.

What most people fail to realize is that a company is made up of INDIVIDUALS. To call an entire company bad because of an experience with an individual broker is ignorant. Real Estate brokers are like cops. A few bad apples give the whole crew a bad reputation when that certainly isnt the case. There are honest reputable brokers just like there are honest reputable people in ANY profession. With that said, my experience with Metropolitan was very smooth. I called on an ad I saw and they took me to about 15 apartments before I settled on a no-fee situation in one of the newer luxury buildings in the city. Yes I paid an application fee (which you will pay everywhere whether dealing with a broker or not) and a deposit (which you either get back or is applied to your rent), but thats the nature of the beast. This is the city, and things are expensive. the bottom line is that my broker at Metropolitan gave me a wonderful experience and I would gladly do business with them again.

I don't understand why every body is negative, brokers don't work for free, and for some reason every body expects to get the best treatment and not have to pay a dime, I had a wonderful experience with them they showed me over 20 apt which most of them i liked, they showed me fee and no fee apartments and they disclosed every thing to me before showing them to me, I have been living in NY for over 12 years and so far these guys are the best brokers i have ever worked with I am so Happy where i am living, also i have referred many of my Friends to them and NO ONE has complained so far, if you know that you are working with a broker expect to have to pay something, if you don't want to spend $ don't work with one, go look for apt your self.

My roommates and I had a very negative experience with Metropolitan Group. I'd definitely take the rest of the reviews into consideration, too, before deciding to go apartment hunting with one of their brokers. They flat out told us a lie to get us to sign... of course, upper management sided with the brokers. It was very dishonest on their part, and since they had our money already, they didn't care to help us resolve anything. We are filing a complaint with the city soon.

They will pressure you into making a $500 cash deposit along with a $100 credit check (aren't these about $35?)

If you do use this "agency"....stipulate that if you do not get the apartment that you are applying for, that you will immediately get back your $500 deposit..otherwise they will hold it and keep showing you apartments. OK to make the deposit each time, but make sure you make this stipulation and get it in writing.

I'm not sure why there is soo much negativity! I just rented out an apt with them and they were great! I asked for a no fee apt in a tree lined location and that's what i got!! Yes i was shown a few other apts that looked as great, even BIGGER with a fee but can you blame them???? People have to understand brokers don't work on salary so therefore they will try to show you as much as they can! especially with the industry being what it is today!! come one now, stock brokers are far worst! trust me, I'm in the business!!!! so give all brokers especially in NY a break! HELLLOOO that's why New York is New York they are aggressive!! If you don't like it you don't belong here!!! anyway I hope you still use broker services b/c believe it or not they do get the best deals! whether there is a fee or not!

Do NOT use Metropolitan under any circumstance. I have had 2 bad experiences and learned my lesson! The first broker we used was pushy and aggressive and lied repeatedly in order to get us to sign immediately- it worked, and all of the lies he told us did not come true (among others- that a gym was opening in our bldg as well as a roofdeck). The second time I unknowingly went to see a craiglist listing with a broker from Metropolitan- the photos were of a DIFFERENT apartment, and the price was raised. The apartment was disgusting and not at all what I was expecting. The broker continued to persuade us to look at other apartments in the building but they were all awful. Do not trust brokers from this place!

I wish I had read the other 2 reviews before searching for my apartment.

My roomates and I were searching for apartments in New York and trying to do it without a brokers fee. It seems like these people are all over craigslist. They're rude, extremely aggressive and try to pressure you. They kept telling me that if I don't act NOW I'd lose the apartment. They pressured me into putting down a $500 deposit in cash, and another $100 in cash per person for a credit check.

We were about to agree when we called the management company. Turned out Metropolitan group lied to us - under the rules and conditions of set by the management company, we wouldn't even have been able to make the requirements for the apartments (only a limited number of people could sign the lease, but Metropolitan didn't tell us that. They wanted to collect their $100 from each of us first and tell us later that we had failed the application process.) I later found out that a friend used the group and left a security deposit with them. They'll refuse to give it back to you after you fail the application process and keep telling you they'll show other apartments - as a result, once you deposit your money, you're stuck with them.

Lesson learned. Never deal with brokers. If you decide to go to craigslist, you'll have a much easier time going directly to owners. And yes, my experience was so terrible that I took the time to post here and warn others.

I've had a few bad experiences with this company. If you are looking on Craigslist and you think you've found a good deal...think again. They are consistently shady, have false advertisements. They are NOT to be trusted!!! They are aggressive brokers who only want your money! Trust me instead and stay away!

it's hard to believe this place has almost perfect rating. i moved past spring, and unfortunately i hired these guys. i mean all real estate agencies share common listings, so having lots of places to show doesn't really mean much. it's how customer is treated from start to finish. i felt as if the agent, the broker, and probably everyone at this place were only after my money. they were more like threats, "if you dont pay today, you are going to lose this apartment," and everyday I would get a similar call from them. and this was even after i already paid one month rent to secure the listing. and let me be understanding, i know their time is money, but come on, everyones busy with work and other stuff. wht got me really mad was that the agent bothered me for 4 days straight, and told me to bring deposit, realtor's fee, and everything by certain date, which i did. but this agency ended up relaying the deposit and lease agreement late to the landlord, so i actually ended up not moving in until after the first day of signed lease...now what do you say to that??? so all they are after is making the deal, getting paid, and nothing else...personally i would never recommend this agency to anyone...PLEASE BE AWARE!!!
