Food is well prepared, ingredients fresh.
Service attentive, professional, friendly.
Wine list surprising for such a small space.

Loved it. For a neighborhood that borders on obnoxious, this place is a little gem. Rate this Bistro A +

Went to the Bistro last night for the first time. Had a fantastic time - just what we were looking for. Simple, well put together food, casual atmosphere and really knowledgeable service. We didn't feel rushed and felt welcome from start to finish.

Great neighborhood find.

Will definitely return soon.

Great neighborhood find.

Pros: Service, atmosphere

Cons: can't think of one!

We were walking around last night hoping to find somewhere cute to eat . We decided on ITM Bistro and loved it! The service was knowledgeable but friendly. It was nice to eat at a restaurant where the servers genuinely seemed to enjoy their work.

Food was great and menu selection surprisingly varied considering how small the bistro is. Add a great bottle of wine to that, and our night was an A+ experience.

Will definitely go back again.

A Classic Bistro. Small, with a straight forward menu that doesn't miss. We are there once a week to have a glass of wine and a cheese board and some appetizers or a full meal. The staff is warm and knowledgeable, with a great wine list. We always get the fried mushrooms which are amazing. Pastas are delicious and the menu has something for everyone. Their "sister" restaurant has been around for almost 30 years, they must be doing something right! We are glad they are in our neighborhood.

Pros: consistent, market fresh

Cons: small, but what bistro is not... : )

It's true, it is tight, but that's because it's so popular. The food is good Italian fare. I was curoius to see if it was as good as their other, larger place on West Broadway. It certainly is. The atmosphere is upbeat and friendly, our server won us over with good knowledge of the wines and he seemed to be very genuine.
This is a great little family spot in the village. The salami plate and a bottle of wine is great on an early spring evening, and everyone around us seemes to be enjoying their food very much.
Definitely returning.

Pros: Location, ambience

Cons: Very tight between tables, but hey, you're in New York.

not gonna lie the food is good sometimes nice italian dishes prepared by mexican cooks the drinks are really good even after they recycle them..i`ve seen them..the servers are amazing specially talking about their customers they are so polite at the table..but watch it when they go mumbling after they serve you..of course they treat you like family they are drunk out of their minds if not they wouldnt spill wine when they serve it..its a really nice place to get high with the staff if u stay after hours u can even snort some coke with the bartender if u tip him well..be careful with the pasta though once i saw it fall on the ground and then they just put it back on the plate and took it to the table like nothing had happened..the steaks are undercooked sometimes and the servers get angry if u send it back..the pasta is good but overpriced..the papardelle is the only good thing and the subs too..the wine selection is big i know but u can find the same bottles for half the price in a liquor store..the chesse board is good if u like beign charged double

Pros: good location, nice drinks (sarcasm)

Cons: all about it

As a confirmed NYC foodie, I am willing to deal with small spaces and even bad service in return for good food. I Tre Merli unfortuntely was unable to deliver with the latter. Consequently, my wife and two of our friends spent the evening cramped into space the size of a postage stamp, Aside from the extremely small space, don't even try to get up to use the restroom, it requires the entire restaurant to get up from their tables, the service was horrible. In addition to the small space, the music was so loud that any attempt to engage in a conversation is simply futile. The waitstaff was mostly disengaged and the food was disappointing. The appetizers were uninventive and the salads were inedible. I ordered the pappardele which was average, but does not provide nearly enough of a reason to return to this restaurant.

On the plus side, the location is great and the prices are low. If you don't have much of a palate, are on a budget and want to be in the middle of a hip area, I would say that I Tre Merli Bistro would fit the bill. If you are hoping for a little more, then I Tre Merli Bistro is not for you.

This is the perfect spot for a one-on-one dinner, whether it be with an old friend or a first date - the atmosphere allows for a great conversational meal. Start with the italian cheese and meat cutting board which at $18 is a steal (it is a cutting board piled high with foccacia squares and a variety of delectable meats, cheeses and marmalade). The pastas were delicious (one daily special was penne in red sauce with salmon and asperagus), creative, and perfectly spiced. The waitstaff helpful and attentive. It might feel a bit crowded in the winter, but on a recent summer night, with the windows open, it was just divine.

You have to try it ! I live in the neighborhood and met a friend there for dinner on a friday night. The staff is very nice, but not to concerned with the type of service you get from bigger restaurants. Its not necessary though, since the place is so small you can always grab someone passing by. The pasta dishes are all fabulous and inexpensive. They are very prompt with drinks as well. You have to try the mushroom appetizer. They are fried in truffle oil and are genius. Definitely go for a low key night especially when there's a little breeze. Do go on a date if you want to talk intimately. Don't go in more than a group of 4.

Pros: intimate, comfortable, tasty, cute, $35 a person with app and drink

Cons: you might wait on yourself, but its not bad

Went for the first time Friday with 2 friends. The staff is so accomodating. It is just the right size for an small get-together. The music (modern) was pumpin' but not overpowering. And no I didn't forget the most important thing...the food...Delicious. Definitley goes on the "weekend dining out" list.

Whenever I find myself in the west village I try and stop at I Tre Merli for a glass of wine or a quick bite. The food is delicious, and the service is always friendly and polite, but what I like most about this place is the atmosphere. Its location and size makes it a perfect place to relax for a bit. You can never fit more than 20 people in there so you receive great service without the hustle and bustle of a larger restaurant.

I planned a small surprise gathering for a birthday dinner (8 people) and it was definitely the perfect place! They called me in advance to ask if I would mind coming in a little earlier and called to confirm my reservation as well...I don't think I have ever had a restaurant keep in such great contact! Everyone loved it--this place is such a gem!

Pros: Inexpensive, Good food/wine, Location

after reading the review, we were sorely disappointed. The waitress was rude and neither of the waitstaff was assigned to a section of tables, as they constantly asked us the same questions, resulting in the food taking twice as long to come to the table. While the salmon had a delicious sauce, the portions were small. The steak was leftover gristle, and at $14 hardly a value. While the wine selection is nice, the staff is not trained in the edict of serving it.

We walked through the village looking for a nice place to eat, and discovered I Tre Merli. What a find! Excellent food and so reasonably priced. The waitstaff is wonderful and so is the wine selection! It's not large, but great for a dinner for 2 or group of 5-7.

We were treated like family upon entering...at the door, the bar and at the table. The bartender offered a tasting of their substantial wine selection to my undecisive girlfriend while we waited briefly for our table. We had the meat and cheese tray, a great pair with one of their bold reds, and large enough to be a meal for two on it's own. We went on to have a pasta and a fish dish, and they were quite tasty. And all for one $, you'd have to search to find a better value.
