I recently brought my one year old healthy and cheerful puppy in to be groomed at the Pet Zone in Forest Hills. We were never there before. I was told by the owner (Cathy) to come back in about 3 hrs and the groomer said that "he will look like a Westminster Winner!" However, I was shortly called back by the nervous store owner who said that "I must come back now! He is OK, he's OK,just scared and we were not able to do everything to him and we will not charge you the whole fee" I thank G-d they did not do "everything" to him, as when I arrived my puppy was in a cage, shaking and still had the plastic grooming noose around his neck! His sweet face was bloodied from ear to ear and around his eyes! Through my shock, while taking him out of the cage, I asked what happened!! The groomer said "that the puppy did it to himself using his nails" The business took no responsibility! Now, they are probably right, my puppy probably did scratch his face by his own nails BUT, THAT WAS ONLY TO PROTECT HIMSELF FROM A RAZOR BLADE CUTTING OFF ALL HIS WHISKERS AND THE GROOMER NOT CEASING THE ACTION WHEN HE BECAME HURT AND ANXIOUS! My puppies whole face was swollen and bloodied! I immediately asked the owner to write me a detailed list of what they did in the "grooming session." They declined my request saying that they were too busy with customers and would mail me something...WEREN'T WE CUSTOMERS?
Now, Pet Zone did offer to have my dog looked at by THEIR vet across the street but, that came only after the owner (with such an inhumane attitude) offered this tidbit.. "how much did I pay last year for my dog $1600?, $2000? You know, he's worth 25% less now!" Composing myself (as best I could) I replied that he is not a car, he is our family, and it does not matter how much we paid for him as he is priceless. By the way, I'll also mention another remarkable act by this insensitive business owner. My puppy was still shaking while I was trying to put back on his harness with tags and sweater and so I placed him down on one of their doggie beds on a low rack. The owner quickly snapped that "unless I was going to buy the bed to take him off it!" After that entire exchange (and having the police called in so they could witness this) I took my dog to our own veterinarian 5 blocks away for treatment and checkup and we took photographs of his disfigured face. When I later came back to their store for remittance of the emergency vet fee, the owner of Pet Zone wanted me to sign a silencing letter via a notary public. I said to the owner "no way!" And left the store without my expenses paid back, and a recovering dog home with my wife.
I believe that cruelty and insensitivity to animals, coupled with rudeness and contempt of customers should not be silenced nor tolerated by anybody, let alone the many animal lovers here in Forest Hills. Please think carefully before patronizing Pet Zone.

GREAT! My pups were pampered. Carlos the groomer is great with my cocker spaniel. I loved the service. I also purchased doggie designer bags and holistic food by the name of "SOLID GOLD" my pups love it and I was satisfied with my visit. The workers there make you feel welcomed.

This store is not for someone who loves there pet. The store is dirty the grooming room is messy, you can't even see your dog get pampered like you can when you go to other groomers. the photos you see on the web site are so not the truth if you ever went back there all you would see is clutter. The groomers on the other hand are wonderful and they should work for someone who is worth working for if they got together and opened up a shop I would give them my business. The whole store is full of stuff that is OVERPRICED. The owner is a RUDE,NASTY, LIAR she will appear to be a nice woman until you choose not to buy anything, I should have listened to the local people and never stepped foot in that store. I WILL NEVER GO IN THERE AGAIN!!!!!!! and you should never spend your money there either you work too hard for it and if you really want to pamper your little ones take them to Pet Smart where they can be groomed, Seen by the Vet ,go to training, attend parties for pets and other fun things for pets and pet lovers.....

I went to this pet shop to purchase some food and bought a harness for my dog. The lady, who I found out was the owner was rude to me when I asked her about a dog (What breed was it?) that was in the window. I simply asked what breed it was and she nearly bit off my head. I felt like I asked her something crazy. You would think that she would be nice to her customer. She was not busy in her store so I don't think that was the reason. A friend of mine who lives nearby told me that she likes to roll her eyes at customer. He has witnessed it on two different occasions and will NEVER go back. By the way both items were extremely overpriced.
