Really fresh and delicious. It has three floors but the top two are the best. Very clean and expensive natural light colored wood decor. Good for large parties.

my group of friends are sushi lover whenever we hang out for dining and tenzan will be the only top priority restaurant. as what we are told about the new opening restaurant at second avenue between 52nd and 53rd st , tell you guy it's will be my choice forever. the atmosphere were great , romantic and your mood will light up once u are there. they even have sake bar and seating upstair second floor. we order foods from sushi, rolls and some sashimi along with some appertizer from kitchen. tell u we love it and nothing left. the sushi chef are very creative in reading your mind and make what that you will love to eat... great place to explore and enjoy...i hope they provide delivery service too. ciao......

Came here for the first time with a friend before a show at the Beacon. The atmosphere was cute and quaint, especially the upstairs, even if it was a little warm in there. The edamame was better than most I ever had and my friend said the same about the vegetable dumplings. We ordered rolls and loved the spicy tuna, though was disappointed by the chilean sea bass roll. The fish was amazing but it was chock full of onions. The service was attentive in a way that you could tell no matter what table you're at, you won't be forgotten. Good place.

Pros: Fresh sushi, good atmosphere, great service, amazing spicy tuna roll!

Cons: Too many onions in the chilean sea bass roll

I luv this restaurant. The sushi is fresh and the teryaki is always prepared perfectly. My favorite it the Chilean Seabass which just melts in your mouth. Great lunch specials!

I used to work here. After years of experience waiting tables in several New York's Japanese Restaurants, Tenzan has the freshest fishes of them all. Fish deliveries come every day. Knowing that, I just hate it when there's a guest feels like he knows very much about raw fish and refuse to eat a-not-so-red tuna that's served on his plate. Believe me people. They are fresh.

The beef Teriyaki. Had a chance to order one for my dinner. I can't believe how tender the beef is. Compared to steaks served in several steakhouse. I believe this one is the best so far.

Hip... Hip... Hooray!!!!!!!!!!

My honey and I stumbled across this pretty but nondescript Columbus Avenue sushi haven about 2 years ago, when it was still a sleeper. While this ain't Nobu or Sushi of Gari (the bill 1/4 the size will prove that!), we can honestly say we have never experienced better "value for sushi dollar" anywhere else...and that includes Nobu, Gari (UWS), Yama (Gramercy), Poke (UES), Hakata 48, Iroha in midtown and Miyagi in the W. Village. We've never had a bad piece of sushi at "Ten Zan" (N.B.: I suspect there aren't dozens of other glowing reviews here because reviewers are searching this site for "Tenzan", which according to their take-out menu seems to be the right name) -- typically the sushi and sashimi melt like butter. While we're total drips and nearly always order the same thing (spicy crunchy salmon rolls and salmon sashimi), the special rolls are worth taking the plunge, too. In the past year, the Zagat food rating of "25" for Tenzan has caused a stampede at our once "secret" sushi hideaway, but get there before 7pm or after 9:15pm and you won't wait long for a seat on one of the 3 levels. Also, delivery is fast and very well-packaged!

Pros: Nobu, without the sticker shock

Cons: Nobu, without the ambience

Sushi served here is delicious. The service is excellant and I would recommend this place to anyone wanting to find a good, relatively inexpensive restaurant in this neighborhood.

Pros: Sushi is fresh and the service is great

Cons: Sometimes have to wait for a table.

Went there last week and the yellowtail was very fresh. This place is either very good, or I was very lucky. I've had sushi all around NYC and this place is well above average.
