Woodhaven House is a beautiful Irish pub. Pubs and beauty normally don't go together in Queens, but Woodhaven House is a great exception. A neighborhood crowd, of all ages, including families, comes for dinner and stays for drinks. The attention & care is obvious, not just in the dark wood bar, leather booths, and frosted, etched glass, but in the food and service. The interior is beautiful. It's an Irish pub fantasy: polished dark wood, frosted & etched glass, black-and-white tile floors, leather seats, even a display case of Irish pottery. It's a pleasure to sit, admire the decor,& enjoy a drink. The Guinness pours smooth,& the stout's head remains once you've sucked up the last bit of heavenly brown liquid. Who would want to live on beer alone? The food is excellent. Entrees start at $8 for a burger with the works & run $12 to $18. Woodhaven House is becoming a Queens landmark.

Great sound/ nice bar

by dj d. | insider Insider | Rank: 14,945

This is a nice local bar where they have cover bands play. The sound is good though not recommended if you want to have an easy conversation, its LOUD. Its a good mix of people and the bar is fun though I cant speak of the food as I have never eaten here.

It was all good till the "pests" arrived

by punkrawklady

My brother and sister-in-law used this place for their rehearsal dinner. The ambiance was nice, just a little dark, but the drinks made up for that. There was a good live band playing that night. My boyfriend and I showed up early so we ordered some drinks. Everything was nice, the staff was nice (except for one blond chick who was rude, or just slow). We were sitting there chatting for almost 10 minutes when a "pest" scurried across the table (it rhymes with "coach" -- apparently, I can't say its name on this site). I wanted to say something but then my parents showed up followed by my brother-in-law and one of the bridesmaids (I guess they all traveled together). I didn't want to make a scene so I didn't say anything. I just made sure to wipe my utensils before I ate and I ordered food that required minimal preparation. The people around me complained about their food (it was either too cold or undercooked) and I had to agree. The sauce in my pasta looked coagulated, like they nuked it before they served it to me. I didn't see any other "pests" after that but that doesn't mean they weren't around....

Pros: drinks, live band

Cons: food, lighting, "rhymes with coaches" and has four legs

Top Queens entertainment . Oh Yeah .

by Brianblunder

If you want action in Queens without going to the city . this is a great oasis. Menu is like what you would expect in a Manhattan "Irish Restaurant" but high quality and not too expensive. Always a happy friendly staff which says alot about the easy going atmosphere. The bands are great at the weekends. hardly ever a covercharge . For me its a one stop place at the weekend on a friday or Saturday .......... food drink entertainment home . I dont have to think to hard where to go next !
yep . I like this place .

Pros: great food . and entertainment .

Cons: need a car taxi to get there and back . ten minute walk from subway

best pub in Queens!! a wide variety of draught beer and a Pub Quiz!!

by smile69

I frequent Woodhaven House for several reasons: great food, great service, and great entertainment! The place itself is reminiscent of a pub you would find across the pond, and it is especially cozy in the winter when the fireplace is burning. I try to order different dishes each time I go, but the goat cheese salad, the Irish breakfast, and the sesame-crusted Tilapia are my favorites. The fajitas are great as well. And the waitresses are friendly, efficient, and attentive to your table.
The entertainment at WH is also great, there's always a live band on Friday and Saturday nights that always draw diverse crowds. On some Sundays, the Human Karaoke Experience is at WH which is always a great time! I check their website to keep updated with what's going on. And my favorite of all, WH hosts a Pub Quiz (trivia night) every other Tuesday!!! It's a blast. The bartenders are very friendly and quick to get you a drink, and the drink selection is great - quite a few draught beers, and the drinks are always nice and cold!
All in all, the staff are super-friendly and always make you feel welcome. The food is consistently exceptional, and there is a welcoming bar seven days a week. What more could you want?

Pros: Ambiance, dining experience, live music venue!

Best burger around

by lilwonder

I used to work across the street from Woodhaven house at a well known fish resturant, and often would go over to grab a burger on my break. I remember them having one of the best burgers around. I recently went in for dinner on a friday night with my family and got a chance to enjoy thier burger once again. I was not disappointed. I thoroughly enjoyed it (as did my mom and grandmother who also ordered it). We had the bacon wrapped sea scallops as an appetizer and it was delicious! Our waitress was friendly, observant and attentive. We never had a empty drink! My dad had the linguini with clams, mussels and scallops and LOVED it. It was garlicy and delicous. MY grandfather had the New Zealand Lamb and it too was amazing! I must say Woodhaven house puts up a pretty amazing dinner menu, with lots of different dishes to choose from. After dinner we stayed for the band and had a great night out.

Pros: great service and delicious food!

Cons: none

Great local restaurant / pub with genuine Irish hospitality

by puddands

Have gone to The Woodhaven House on a few occasions while visiting friends in Queens.Service is always good and fast and have yet to be disapointed with the food. For brunch, I love the Eggs Benedict and the Irish Breakfast is one of the best I have had. Have been there on the weekends mostly , dinner has been just as good!!! Had their delicious Bacon Wrapped Sea Scallops for an appitizer and followed with their oven roasted Baby Back BBQ Ribs (which fell right off the bone), I could not fault anything. The place was packed so we had to wait for a table but it was well worth it . All 6 of us were extremly happy and our waitress could not of been nicer, we ended up staying for the live music at the bar that topped off a great night out.

Pros: warm and friendly staff, valet parking

Cons: restrooms in basement

"Locals only" bar - brunch forgettable

by earlgreygrrl

My husband and I heard that Woodhaven House had a decent brunch on Sundays, so we decided to give it a try. It's a lovely dark wood building from the outside, really polished and quaint. When we stepped inside, we were immediately stared down by a group of biker-types at the bar - SO not what I was expecting on a Sunday morning. Is it even legal to drink that early in the morning? Anyway, as they stared and stared, the hostess took her time walking over to us. Then she said, "You've come for brunch, yes?" Well, yes...don't fall all over yourself with smile or a genuine welcome. After checking the reservation list (mind you, the pub was empty except for the bikers), she showed us to a table in the back. Immediately, the smell back there bothered me. I smelled MOLD. Dusty, musty, wet-smelling mold. My husband said he didn't smell anything, so I thought it was just me. But the odor was already in my nose, and I was bothered by it the whole time we were there.

The brunch menu was very limited, but I thought they'd add muffins and fruit. They didn't. You're just supposed to choose one item off the menu. My husband had the pub burger and I had the french toast. Neither was spectacular. I could've saved myself some money and gone to the diner. Who pays $9 for average french toast?? With no bacon or sausages?? Me, I guess. But not there and not ever again. If you want my advice, go to the city where they serve REAL brunch. Woodhaven House looks like a "locals only" bar serving mediocre food and drinks.

Pros: Authentic Irish "pub style" interior and exterior

Cons: Average food, scary locals, moldy smell
