Never a let down. The mini meatballs are some of the best i ever had. I always enjoy the pizza and they have a great wine list. The price is right thats why i keep going back.

The food is great. And the portions are generous. I would go back anytime I can. They treat you nice too. Too bad the service is a little slow at times, but the atomosphere is charming and who minds a little wait when the food is so deliciious.

Our waiter was ok, after burning my arm with their hot place (which scarred) he gave us a free round of drinks. My friend ate a mussel that she thought had some sort of spices on it, turns out it was some sort of discusting stuff that literally tasted like a word i can say on here! And the food-blah.

Went here on a Friday afternoon when there was only one other table and had terrible service - the guy spills beer on the table, he took more than 10 minutes to bring a coke to the table, and what should have been a 45 minute lunch turned into an hour and a half fiasco...and to top it off they included a 20% gratuity! CHUTZPAH! The pizza was fine, but I imagine you can find better within a 4 block radius. The pasta was quite good, but not worth getting robbed by the waitstaff. 20% to take a half an hour to get the beer and then to spill it on us?!?! Come on...

Hands down the most delicious pizza downtown -well worth braving the crowds. Go early to get a table in a reasonable amount of time otherwise the wait can be atrocious.

I went to this restaurant this past weekend. I sat outside, it was beautiful on Saturday. I waited a good 15-20 minutes w/no service. No water, nothing. I got up to leave. A really nice bartender said I should stay because the food was really good & I thought the outside porch was just really quaint. She even came & checked on me later.

Well, let's just say, I should have followed my instincts. When a waiter did finally come, I found out that someone didn't show up.

I understand that it was a stressful situation for them--when someone calls out, it makes a mess of everything.

In short, I arrived there before 1:30. I didn't see a waiter until almost 2:00 at that point, I had to rush thru my meal to get to my next engagement at 2:30.

I wish the experience had been better, it's a cool spot.

Oh, the food. The food was decent & it would have tasted better, with better service.

Went to Lil frankies this weekend for dinner for a b-day party. We did get a good table and did not have to sit in the front which looked pretty bad since people were everywhere and it felt very crowded. The waiter was kind of rude but decent. The salads were not good. it seemed as tho there was no dressing on any of them. The spinach was great as was the pizza. The entrees were so so. We did have to ask 4 times to get water refilled for the table and it also took at least 20 minutes to get a check. All in all it was a good time, but not the best. Luckily it isnt all that expensive. Just be prepared to wait a bit on the service.

I don't know how it started, but I made a habit of making lil' frankie's my solo dinner spot. I go in and order a glass of wine and relax. I usually order whatever pasta special they have... A whole pizza is hard to finish by yourself. The food is simple and delicious. The service can be slow but that's fine by me because I never feel rushed to order, or rushed to leave (even though it's always crowded). As a "solo diner", I often feel neglected by restaurants, or urged to eat and leave quickly to free up the table for another party, which is understandable, but I'm impressed that that sort of attitude doesn't exist at Lil' Frankie's. It's comforting.

I stumbled into little Frankies by chance one night and glad i did so, straight away the atmosphere was engaging and the buzz was great, from the interior design to the little rooms all with their different personality's. The staff, very friendly and helpful which leaves me to comment on the food, great!! I have the calamari often which is fantastic, the menu is very simple which i find key to a successful restaurant as many try to over complicate their menus. Pizzas at Little Frankies are one of the best cooked in a wood oven which in my opinion is the way! I have nothing bad to say about Frankies. Weekends can get busy so book in advance the wait can take 20 minuets if you walk in but there is a bar where you can wait.

The food is delicious and addictive, hence why the majority of east villagers are regulars here. The crowds have caught on, so pull up a chair and eat at the bar if you are too hungry to wait. The candlelit atmosphere, indie-rock music and cute staff give this place a real east village charm. Order from the specials- the buratta (imported fresh from Italy) and ricotta di bufala appetizers are amazing, as are their pizzas, strip steak, and pasta dishes? I could go on and on! Make sure to save room for the nutella dessert! Their brunch is a hidden gem? never a wait and always delicious. Wallet, celebrity and child friendly, this place is an all around winner. Even my grandma is a fan.

terrible...but pretty...the food was very bland (we had two pasta dishes and pizza) even the pizza which it's known for was bad. If you want pizza go to john's if you want good pasta go to Frank's (lil' Franks brothers place). The staff was bored and rude. would never go back.

The pizza here is true to its Italian roots - not too many toppings, and none of the generic pies you would find in one of New York's innumerable pizza shops. Instead, the crust is super light and flavorful, with just the right amount of chewiness. And the toppings are just right - we went with the basic Margherita pizza, and it was divine.

Dont forget to try their "baked pumpkin with cheese" side!

So unlike the one of the previous posters, I ain't so young. But like that poor sap, I too was tortured by the wall of drums 'n bass ?music? that assaulted me when I attempted to enjoy my repast at my fave resto, Lil Frankies. When I asked for the music to be turned down, the person in charge of said cacophony suggested I remove myself to another room of the restaurant. Another employee also gave me relocation as an option. I'm not asking that they play Muzak, but come on, drums 'n bass-slash-relentless-rap?? Really?? Is that what the kids are listening to as they sip their pinot noir, and eat their white pizzas with truffle oil??? Please LF, stop terrorizing your patrons with that music and play something with a melody.

The food here is awesome! The kind you get cravings for and have to go back. Except, glad to see someone has mentioned the ear-blasting, conversation-hindering music!! It's really becoming a deterrent. I don't know if there's a genre called METAL-RAP, but i feel like i experienced it at full blast at my last visit. I'm all for East Village Cool, but someone needs to rein it in. Owners, if you read this stuff, PLEASE TURN IT DOWN and tell whoever's in charge to listen to their tunes on their own time, not while paying customers are trying to have a conversation and enjoy the delicious work of the chefs!!

Freshness and Wood buring oven can only mean one thing - Great food and outstanding Pizza!
You have to order the Roasted whole Eggplant! Make sure you order it right away even before you decide on the appetizers and entree. Matter of fact order 2 of them. Then drizzle with the spicy olive oil.

Look I am young.. I love megadeth too but dear god I dont want to hear it full blast at a restaurant. TURN DOWN THE MUSIC IN THE DINING area. The same folks that own this place, own Supper and all they care about is making the cash--which if they are not careful someone will report you to the IRS!!! I think they must treat their wait staff like ingrades because they are some of the rudest folks in the city. I've experienced and heard from friends that they refuse to listen to the pleas of their paying customers especially about the music.
NOTE: IF ITS LOUD OR IF YOUR WAITER SEEMS INDIFFERENT JUST WALK OUT, SAVE YOUR NIGHT GO TO THE ELEPHANT AROUND THE CORNER OR THE SEMI DECENT RESTAURANT CALLED THREE OF CUPS!!!

The last two times that I have been in NYC I have been to FRANK (1st trip) then Lil Frankie's... and both are equally wonderful and charming in their own ways. I do prefer Lil Frankies - probably because it is roomier and the waiters are CUTE! We were there on a Sat. night at 8:30 ish and didn't have to wait too long (maybe 30 minutes?) .... the ambiance was great... the waiter was attentive and the food was FAB... we had Lil Frankies salad... which was to die for... then splite some pizzas and Gnocci and topped it all off with the homemade Tiramasu (it doesnt get any better than this recipe).

The only drawback of this last visit if I had to be ultra critical.. would be that when our main waiter was not attending to us ... we had less than stellar service... I was called SIR when I am quite obviously a woman and this blonde/lighter haired waiter with a pony tail kept delivering all of our food and threw it on the table each time - the wrong dishes to the wrong people... but hey if that is the worst of it... its all good.

Mostly come for late lunch, and I'm sure service etc can be quite annoying in the evening, however, there aren't that many good lunch spots in NY, and if you want to truly feel as though a long lunch could be part of your life, this is where to go. Plan to go with someone who's company you actually enjoy, make sure you have some hours or so to spare, order any salad, share the pizzas, get some good wine -and although pasta here is the way it's suppsed to be - al dente, sparse on the sauce etc, depending on the season I prefer to have that later in the evening (especially the spinach gnocchi w/gorgonzola...). As you enter skip the first room and go left (to the front), and you're ready for some quality time!

I cam with a party of eight. They made us wait until everyone was there even though six of us were, which makes no sense. We had a reservation so the table was not going to be used by anyone. The entry way was very crowded so we just stood there until we finally prodded the hostess to let us sit down. We were seated at a table for six so we had no room and I sat in front of the kitchen window with waiters and bus boys knocking into me the whole time. The waiter was ok but too busy. The food was good but the service was hard to overlook.

I have enjoyed many meals at Lil' Frankie's, but recently the food has become a joke. The other night I ordered papardelle allo scoglio and wanted to laugh when it was set in front of me. The sauce was like tomato juice with a few pieces of basil thrown in for color. 10 rock shrimp does not a scoglio make. For $17, you think they could manage to throw in a clam or mussel or two to actually make scoglio what it really should be. I would have sent it back if the server had actually come around before we were finished eating. My friends' meals didn't fare much better. Empty water glasses. Empty wine glasses. Hilariously bad bar service. Watching the server chat with someone for 10 minutes before putting in your order. Waiting 15 minutes for a check. This is just too bad, too bad.

I took my wife here after we got back from our honeymoon in Italy and feared that it just wouldn't live up to the delicious food we'd been eating for the last three weeks - but how wrong I was! This place is wonderful: the pizza delicious, as was the chicken my wife had, and they have a great wine list. Our server knew exactly what he was talking about, had a great sense of humor and very attentive to our needs. And the candle light definitely adds to the ambience.

A group of about 16 of us strolled in here last minute around 7pm saturday night. They were friendly, just asked for us to wait about 15 minutes, no problem. The staff were very friendly, the prices were relatively average, not bad, and the food was great. I had the "skirt steak" special and it was great. Eating off of other's plates, I tasted the pasta, potatoes, and of course the pizza (very authentic thin crust Italy style). The bill after all that (granted no one really had any alcohol, just soda/water and I had one glass of wine) was $250... around $27 a person... not too bad for good food and service in the city! Oh, and the music was NOT Frank Sinatra or classical, totally rockin' vibe, way cool to me.

This place is fantastic. The food is AMAZING - the butternut squash ravioli blew my mind - the staff is knowledgeable, the atmosphere is great and so is the wine. Next time you're craving Italian, high-tail it here or Supper. If you love good food and good wine, and don't want to spend a million dollars, I guarantee you'll love this place.

i'm italian and i had a great pizza in lil frankie, whoever thinks this pizza is bad means they do not know what good authentic italian pizza is!.
try the focaccine with prosciutto and robiola...this will wake you up!

Although on the phone they take reservations for groups over 6, they squeezed my group of 7 at a table for 4 & told us that we had to be out in an hour because they needed the table for another group. The bruschetta was toast with a tomato cut in half and placed on parmesan shavings. Best of all the waiter actually picked up a piece of pizza with his hands and moved it to another pie when clearing one of the pans away half way through the meal. Absolutely the worst service I've had in New York.

Pros: inexpensive, decent pizza, random people

Cons: bad service, bad food, bad area

I have nothing but great things to say about Lil' Frankies. Everytime I bring people here, everyone raves about it. Not only are the pizza delicious and quintessentially Italian (with thin crusts and fresh ingredients), but the ambiance is warm and friendly and busy and fun, and the dessert with Nutella is AMAZING! the waitstaff is sweet and never rushes you, and you really feel like you're in Italy. even the baby on the menu is adorable! i guarantee you'll love the place. here's to lil' frankies! (clink)

This place makes pizza just like they do in Italy. As an Italian, recently transplanted here in the Big Apple, I have found it difficult to find good, authentic pizza - perhaps not as good as they make it in Napoli but the crust is good and the toppings are, thus far, authentic. My wife asked the "pizzaiolo" to make a special pizza with tomato sauce, no mozzarella, fresh arugola and parmesan shavings and it was fantastic.

Lil Frankies ROCKS. Excellent brick oven pizzas and good prices. The Thursday lasagna special is about the best and tastiest lasagna I've had in New York

having spent the last 3 months living in Firenze (Florence!), I was shocked by Frankie's wonderful pizzas and friendly staff. I was truly transported to my favorite Santa Croce restaurant, Baldovino! The front of the eatery features a homey feel with a takeout counter, great for families and a casual night. Meanwhile, the narrow back room is dimmly lit, with hanging plants overhead and a wall-covering wine rack. Lil' Frankie's is a delightful suprise offering all the comforts of a neighborhood eatery with a romantic, more sophisticated dining area as well. Super fresh, thin crust pizza, authentic cafe, and classic contorni! Mangia!
