This bar does not even deserve a rating. I hosted a fundraising event at this bar at the beginning of December 2009 and as of March 2010 I still have not recieved the money for my charity. I have reached out to their events coordinator as well as their finance contact and I still have not recieved the funds. Everytime I call to speak with one of them, they are "convienetly" not in at that moment or unable to be reached. Then, when I finally do get a hold of someone, only after threatening to contact my lawyer, they take my information and say that they will send me a check. But....one month later and about 10 calls and emails deep, I AM STILL BEING IGNORED. If you actually plan to give the money you raise to your charity of preference do NOT go to this bar as they will cheat you and the people that need that need it out of your hard earned money!

What made it unique or special time.... Maybe its because i was singled out as not being a NYU Yuppie Frat boy.. but they forced me out while i was attempting to leave and DENIED and medical request after my shirt was ripped and my back was bleeding. And left me outside for 4 hours until i could speak to a manager who looked liked he just left the food court by the local American Eagle. I had numerous threats from members of their staff and from many of their "security" guards. One in particular said " wait until I get off , then we can do this for reals"
Maybe its just me but that sounds like a trashy place to me. I also forgot to mention i am a Disabled American Veteran who suffers from PTSD and arthritis up and down my back with sporadic bulging disks. At the time had a fractured toe and was using a cane. This same cane was thrown 20 feet into the street along with my bag while they continued to tell me to leave and "get out of their face"
Another patron who claimed to be co owner spent close to an hour poking fun at me, calling me a loser, telling me that "just cause you fought in Iraq, it doesn't mean sh!t in the U.S. This same individual said "the next time i see you, i am going to end your life (cant use the K word) you."
The Town Tavern claims they do not know this individual but i have found his photo on their face book and he was allowed to drink after hours while i waited outside for some type of attention.First they said i was removed for "being to loud". Then when the cops came a 4:30 they stated " i was drinking other people's drinks"
This Bar is shady and i would use caution if you plan to get a drink by yourself their. Alot of patrons or bar locals work with the security and staff. Watch your back If you notice people staring. Its a good chance they might not want you there and might take any actions necessary to get you out of the picture.
All i know is i was a paying customer who was assaulted verbally and physically and denied medical attention. This bar will always be known to me as the bar that doesn't deserve the freedom i fought for. It took away months of therapy of which i was finally starting to feel like a normal citizen and not a freak. Now i am back to square one thinking NO ONE in this city give's a f@#k who is fighting and dying, cause it is not them. NYC let me down big time. I thought the towers fell here so you would have compassion for veterans. Guess not. Thank you The Town Tavern, Thank you for proving the point that the only people who care about the REAL hero's are the hero's themselves.

F@*k you very much

Pros: bad vibes

Cons: superficial lacerations to my already arthritic back

A friend and myself hosted a fundraiser for 30+ people. All I had to do was reserve the space and the 2 folks I worked with were very helpful and accomodating on what I was looking for. I didn't have to pay for anything and they provided a large tray of apps, a space for my party, a guest bartender who was a friend and a $300 gift certificate to Town Tavern that I used in the raffle. The managers were attentive and helpful whenever I needed anything. I would recommend having a party/fundraiser/social/happy hour here if your looking for a place!

Pros: Great Happy Hour!

.

The Town Tavern is a great place for happy hour after work. Conveniently located to many trains and right in the heart of Greenwich Village. A nice mixed crowd. The staff is really nice and accommodating and they have great happy hour party deals.

Pros: Cheap Drinks & Friendly Staff

Cons: Cheesey Posters of Girls Selling Drinks

Town Tavern hosted a work happy hour for myself and about 12 of my colleagues. They got us wristbands right away and took us upstairs to a nice space that was not at all crowded. The bartenders were attentive and it was great for mingling. The staff set up tables for beer pong and we started a tournament! Not your typical work happy hour...it was a blast. Definitely recommended.

We held a fundraiser here on a Friday night and had a great time. Their fundraiser deal is fantastic, they reserved a space large enough for out party and were great in communicating with us before & during the event. They let us pick the amount of money donated at the door & then our guests got reduced drink prices! They also donate trays of appetizers and provide raffle tickets to raffle off an open bar worth $300. They played good dance music and everyone had an awesome time. Thanks town tavern for helping make our fundraiser a huge success!

Town Tavern does happy hour right! They hooked up my work with an organized happy hour so I didnt have to worry about having enough space. Usually good drink specials and even when no specials they are not overpriced like the rest of Manhattan.

I planned a bday party for my friend at TownTaven, and besides the pre-planning of the event, the actually event went extremely smoothly. The staff had bracelets for our party once we came in so that our party could get drink specials, we had an area just for our party, had balloons for the party, and were even surprised with champagne for the bday girl! I would definitely recommend this for any bday party with a large group!

A friend and I recently hosted a fundraising event at Town Tavern which turned out to be a really good time. We had the upstairs to ourselves and they had tables all set-up for us to play beirut and flip cup. We chose the 3-hour open bar package (which came with an awesome platter of appetizers) and it was definitely the way to go. The staff was super friendly and Jessica made all of the planning a breeze. If you?re looking to plan a private party or a fundraiser, this is the place to go. There?s plenty of room to mingle/dance/hang-out which not only helped to make the event a big success, but allowed us to all have a great time as well!

I had my birthday party at Town Tavern and it was a great time for all. We chose the $35 open bar package that included beers and mixed drinks, although there are a bunch of other options, some of which include food and some of which include private space. There was a really good crowd there but it was open enough so that we could actually move around and talk to each other and there was never an issue getting drinks at the bar. Jessica was very helpful in planning the event and even found me once I was there and made sure that everything was going well. Highly recommended for small to medium size parties and other events - we will definitely be back.

Town Tavern made it so easy to plan my private event! The staff was friendly and helpful, and there are so many open bar options available at a variety of price ranges. All of my friends had a great time, and I did too!

Wow, what a train wreck this place turned out to be. Floor was sticky, the bartenders fingers actually touched the liquid portion of my drink, and don't attempt to use the bathroom. Food was terrible and did not appear to be fully cooked. Way overpriced. The only good thing about it was the location - as when we left, there was a bunch of stuff to do. Much better places to go in the city.

For two years in a row I hosted a fund raiser for my non-profit at Town Tavern. The staff was very easy to work with, very accommodating to our needs, and just plain friendly. They gave us a great drink special for our guests, provided decorations, along with a gift certificate to raffle off. The bar tenders were very supportive of our cause and treated all our patrons with respect. I would definitely recommend working with them. I've also been there on regular nights and I always have a good time: affordable drinks, lots of TVs for sporting events, and super fun music. And the location is ideal, really close to so many subway lines.

I threw my ten year high school reunion in their upstairs area. The space is great, but the ambiance is seriously lacking. We had three hours of all you can drink top shelf for $35 (no shots) and had a great time (and it was a great deal)! There was plenty of security to make sure things never got out of hand with their typical just graduated, on my way to blacking out crowd. The one area that was seriously lacking was the music! Our party started at 8:00 and we had to endure the odd music compilation of the bartender's iPod until the DJ came on at 10:30. The DJ was great, but the 2 1/2 hours prior were just sad (music-wise). The bartenders were obviously too busy to take requests and did not take kindly to my request to change it to at least change it to the radio. All in all, it was a great time, my ONLY complaints are the atmosphere and the music.

Somehow I think my drink just tastes better at Town Tavern than anywhere else. Not sure if it's just because the vibe is so chill, or that the bartenders are just so awesome, but I always have a good time at TT. And if you want to throw an event - birthday party or fundraiser - you'll never find a better venue or more helpful group of folks!

As the Beer Olympics organizer on Saturday, I just wanted to extend an *enormous* thank you for all your help. More than raising some serious cash for a truly wonderful cause, all the mentors had a fantastic time, which should help morale and attendance in these freezing winter months. Really, the event was a total homerun really in large part due to all your help organizing. Thanks so much again. I'm sure you'll see me at TTT more often - it's become my favorite NYC bar! -------- Best, Ryan. --------- Minds Matter

I pride myself on putting together a good party but base that on the experience that my friends have. This was my first attempt at a fundraiser and I took some baby steps, but the staff at The Town Tavern was right there with the pacifier. Jessica, Katie Jane, Martin and Justin were great to work with and answered any question I had for them. They even took care of sending the donation in for my cause. The drink special we set up worked out perfectly and we raised more than $1,400. A good start to something that I hope will become an annual event.

My event was held in the main bar on the first floor, but either floor would have been ideal. The upstairs provides ample space and a more loungy scene. Downstairs offers another good area to enjoy a few cold ones and have a graet time.

All in all, its a graet place to have a great night, and as it turns out, a phenominal host for a fundraiser.

I threw my first fundraising event and chose The Town Tavern because of all the great reviews and I was not disappointed! I was a little nervous at first, having never even been to this bar, and was afraid it was going to be too much of a college crowd but I was wrong! The reason I went with my gut was because Jessica, the coordinator, was so wonderful from the start of planning. She was available and came through on all of her promises. Jessica, the hostess, and all of the bar staff were friendly and accomodating throughout the night. My friends and I had an amazing night and raised a lot for our cause. I am more than satisfied and will def be back!

I hosted a three hour open bar at The Town Tavern on Saturday night to raise money for a charity. From the first e-mail exchange they were totally helpful, excited and organized. They supplied me with everything I needed / wanted the night of and were very responsive with questions I had leading up to the event. They thought of everything and were amazingly GENEROUS. I would recommend The Town Tavern to anyone looking to host a bar event. They offer great deals, a great space, a great staff - and always - a great time. Thanks!!

The Town Tavern was where I had my 22nd birthday party, and it was great! The event planner was more than accommodating as were the rest of the staff. The dj played every single song that I requested, and the bartenders went out of their way to make sure everyone was having a good time The atmosphere was great, this bar stands out from other ones we've been to in the city. I would definitely recommend it for a party and a night out!!

I had my birthday there this past weekend and was more than pleased with the Town Tavern. They were able to give us our own room upstairs, as well as a bouncer to make sure other people did not come in. Most bars say they will reserve you a space, but rarely follow through. The employees at the Town Tavern followed through on everything we asked for, including good music and beer pong tables.

Jessica was more than helpful in accommodating everything we needed. It is pretty rare to find a bar in the city with great food, cheap drinks, and good music -- but the Town Tavern came through on all 3! I highly recommend going there whether it is for your birthday, or just to watch a game

I had a birthday for my friend this past weekend and I was not expecting such a success. I got to the Tavern around 10:30 and the hostess was very accomodating and the opposite of snobby nightlife hosts around the parts of Manhattan. We had the second floor for the party and it was a perfect amount of space. they played great music and the prices at the bar were more than reasonable. I would definately recommend this place to anyone who want to party in NYC without any worries. People friendly, great music, and not to mention a great looking crowd. Go There, You will not be dissapointed.

I held my election watch party here, after having lots of great experiences watching Florida Gator games here in the last few years. I emailed them, and Jessica got back to me within the day and was super helpful in planning every part of the event for us.

When we got there, she had reserved much of the top floor for us, and had all of the tv's set up with sound. It was so great to be able to have room to talk, and we had no problem keeping up with the results coming in. Our bartender was Justin who was amazing, doing everything from fetching balloons for us to keeping the beers and shots coming.

I'd *highly* recommend Town Tavern as an event space, as well as just a great place to catch a game and hang out with your friends!

We had a private party at Town Tavern recently, and it could not have been better. Great, cheap prices, fast communication, and the bartenders could not have been better. If you're looking for a place to throw a party downtown, there's no better option than the town tavern. Even if you aren't throwing a party, it's a great crowd, awesome TV's, Guitar Hero, and even beer pong upstairs. This is my second open bar at Town Tavern, and I could not recommend it more highly!

Even if you aren't throwing a party, it's a great crowd, awesome TV's, Guitar Hero, and even beer pong upstairs. This is my second open bar at Town Tavern, and I could not recommend it more highly!

Pros: Awesome service, deals on private parties, and atmosphere

.

All University of Florida alumni will definitely appreciate this bar...By far the best Gator bar in NYC and even beats any I've been to in any other city. Has a true Gainesville vibe - the bartenders all get into the games and the waitresses are so accommodating, especially considering they constantly have to make their way through crowds of rowdy fans to keep the pitchers of beer coming! Unbeatable specials for the games - $30 unlimited draft beer! Also lots of fun for Happy Hours - my coworkers and I have made Town Tavern a staple due to the fun bartenders and great overall vibe - good place to unwind after a long day!

Going to NYC is always an excitement.. Attending a hip, live, extremely awesome bar to celebrate and party with the coolest crowd? .....UnREAL!!! I had an experience many would go crazy for, partying with Brooklyn's REAL WORLD CAST for a private birthday party at The Town Tavern!! From our happy hour(S) at the bar, we began toasting the night away to a friend's very special brithday. We danced to the hottest jams by Kimberly Nichole and posed for pictures all night with our friends. It was sooooo cool to be hanging out upstairs and partying the night away like it was nobody's business :) I can't wait to get back to The Town Tavern!! Without a doubt I would definitely host another party there. With the open bar, a great party crowd, a reality show, the photographer, and the hottest singer I doubt anyone would want to go elsewhere! Even the staff is overly accomodating and a lotttt of fun to be around! By far, my night at The Town Tavern was an awesome, unREALLLL experience that I will never forget!! CHEERS!!

First, most of the reviews on here are clearly fake- notice how they all use the words "Great" and "Awesome" a pathetically transparent attempt to boost the bar's rating by the owners. The crowd is young and obnoxious, the tap beer is flat, and the vibe is Jersey shore cheesey. I was added to their email list by a "friend" and now get spammed constantly. If you want to be surrounded by a bunch of lame-o college frat boys wearing their baseball caps backwards- this place is for you.

Pros: the type of people that I don't want to be around go there which keeps them away from me

I had a great experience at the town tavern after hosting a private birthday party in the upstairs. The planner was very attentive and helpful as were the security. I received nothing but praise from guests that came to go wild at an all you can drink special. Almost no cons except for the hangover in the morning. I have since returned during the week and found it a great place not just for private parties but for random wednesday night gatherings. I would recommend this as a great spot to host a party or any other private event where your friends want to let loose.

I organized a group happy hour for some friends last Wednesday at Town Tavern and had a great experience. Jessica was more than helpful and accommodating when I spoke with her to organize the night and Kat was super helpful and available if I needed anything the night the event took place. All of my friends had an amazing time and we will definitely be back again soon! Thank you Town Tavern!

I have been going to Town Tavern for the past 5 years. As one of the best spots in town to watch the Florida Gators, game days/nights are always packed with fans. They offer great deals for games, and table reservations are available for big groups. Be sure to call in advance to reserve your spot!
The staff is friendly and are there to accommodating to meet your needs. Bartenders and waitresses join in on the fun and involve themselves in the game.
Non-game days also draw a good crowd. Friday and Saturday nights, Town Tavern is a staple stop for most people downtown. The locals are friendly and always willing to welcome new faces. Food is good, above average for typical bar-fare, and drinks are well made. There are often special bar nights with drink specials and guest hosts.

I held a fund-raiser of around 40 people on a Thursday night at The Town Tavern. It was a really incredible experience from start to finish. The event coordinator, Jessica, is extremely sweet and helpful. The wait staff was more than accommodating by allowing us to set up my own private area up near the front of the bar. They also offer the best deals in the city. They gave us a tray of food and helped us with everything we needed. The bar is in a great location and offers a very fun atmosphere. On top of all this, everyone who came to my fundraiser had a blast. I can't stress enough how much I enjoyed my dealings with this bar. I would recommend it (and have) to anyone looking to throw a party somewhere for a good price.

My co-workers and I love going here. It always has a festive vibe, making "happy hour" a little happier! There are always drink specials, and the food is great too! We have had several private parties and events here and we have always been taking care of. We love going here during the week and the weekends are always fun too! Good times!

I had a birthday party here recently and there were definitely pros and cons, but the cons could have been avoided by better scheduling...

Pros:
*Party organizer, Jessica, was great. She was great when planning and when I got there, she was very attentive and kept coming up to me asking how she could make things better. That personal service really made me feel like my business was appreciated.
*Bartender (the male one) was fast. I had no problem getting beers even though the bar was crowded (see below)
*Lots of TVs so you could watch games from all around
*Easy to get to... People from all neighborhoods in NYC were able to get there easily.
*Clean bathrooms!
*Great open bar packages... $30 for 3 hours is great, esp since it includes beer, wine, and mixed drinks which you can't always find.

There was one con, but it was a big one:
*CROWDED! I could barely move and had a really hard time finding room for all the people I invited. It was also really hot b/c it was so full. But in TT's defense, it was because it was a Gator game night... against LSU no less so it was packed w/ gator fans. We left early because it was so packed. Had I known how full it'd be/planned better it would have been a much different night.

So, if you're thinking of planning a party here, it could be a really awesome night for you as long as you don't try and schedule it on a Saturday night when the gators are playing. I came here on a Thursday night a little while back and it was a blast so if you're thinking of a good night to have an event, I'd aim for that. Then hopefully you can avoid the crowds and be able to enjoy all the great things about TT!

Just got finished hosting my birthday party at the Town Tavern and from what I can remember it was a great night. The deals they offer for private parties generally focus around open bars - the one I got gave me a private space upstairs with a three hour open bar stocked with well drinks, beer and wine. Guests had to pay 30 bucks to get in, but if you are a generous host you can prepay some of the cost. They throw in cake and champagne as well.

Anyone who has been to this place knows the kind of raucous environment they encourage, and all my experiences with the staff - bartenders, bouncers, host - were very positive. I heartily recommend this place if you are thinking about throwing a bash of your own. Just make sure that someone is taking pictures because odds are you won't remember most of what happens.

My friends and I were given a free happy hour there last week and everyone in our group had a great time. The people I dealt with to set up the happy hour were extremely pleasant and made things very easy. If you're looking to have your happy hour somewhere in the city, I would definitely recommend this place. The bar also has really good drink specials. Once our happy hour was over, we were still treated to half-priced drafts cosmos. I definitey plan on coming back here again in the future.

I planned my latest birthday at town tavern and it was a great success. We were able to have an upstairs private section of the bar, and for a great price we had a top shelf open bar for 3 hours. The privacy of the party was enforced, not overbearingly, by a set of bouncers checking for wristbands. There was about 45 guests, and not one of them had a bad thing to say about their experience. The event coordinator was on hand to make sure that everything was going smoothly, and the staff was very friendly and courteous. I would recommend TT to anyone looking to have a private party, for a great price, in a fun part of NYC. 5 Stars, keep up the good work!

My company, POGO Events, has been doing events at Town Tavern for a few years now. They are very accommodating to our clients, have great customer service (and great food!) There is a great space upstairs that can be used for private events that has a sweet charm and can hold large or small groups. The bartenders and waitstaff go above and beyond and it is always a pleasure to work with Town Tavern. I even had my own birthday party there 2 years ago! The price is right, the service is great and the food is yummy. I absolutely recommend them for your next event!

My friends and I hosted a fundraising party here, and it was so easy to set up! They closed off an area for us, helped put together a raffle where they donated a $300 gift certificate and gave us an awesome drink deal. The staff was extremely helpful and willing to go out of there way to accomodate us and our friends. Not only that, it was a blast! It was packed, high energy and the music was bumpin'. I would definitely come back and I would definitely host another event here. Totally recommend this place!

We recently held a fundratising party at Town Tavern to raise money for the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. The entire staff, especially Jessica and Jonathan, were extremely helpful! They bent over backwards for us and helped us in every possible way. They even donated a $300 gift certificate for us to raffle off!
Overall, the night was so much fun and the fundraiser was a huge success! I'd definitely recommend Town Tavern for any party/event or if you're just looking for a fun place to hang out-- great staff, good music and cheap drinks. What's not to like??

We had a blast! If you are looking for a place to have a birthday/bachelor(ete)/ or just because festivities, this is def. where you need to be! The crowd was great, first off. A nice mix of people there, everyone was there for a good time. It was very layed back and we were so glad we didn't have to deal w/ some of the stand-offish crowds you get at some bars. We played a few rounds of flip-a-cup on the second floor, danced, met a lot of people. The music was great, it was a nice mix and the staff was VERY friendly and attentive. If you need to have a party, get in touch w/ their party coordinator, she was very friendly and attentive. Not like some places that take ur money at the door and that's it! She even came around a few hours into it to make sure we were having a great time. I wish they had more places like this around!

Great party place. We had about 50 people and were given a private section of the bar. We were able to set up anything we wanted and the staff was super-friendly and accomodating. They made sure we always had pitchers of beer going around so that we never had to wait for a drink. Everyone had a great time. I highly recommend throwing a party here or just coming for some food and drinks with friends.

Overall, my party had an awesome night ? we got there prompt for happy hour and the greeting at the door from Jessica and the cashier was perfect ? very friendly and reassuring everything would run smoothly. We even made it in time for free cheese steaks until 7 (if you want further feedback there, they were NOT that good but we were warned this was just practice for the chef before game nights?and they were FREE, so we were still happy) ? Lindsay, the bartender, was awesome?totally treated me like a bday host, and the rest of my party said she was great, too ? music was good ?space was awesome ? all around great time.

Great location for a small to medium size gathering. We held our fantasy football draft and the entire staff were quite attentive to our needs. From setting up our tables, to pouring stiff drinks, to rigging up a make-shift projector screen, the staff handled all of our demands with ease. If you are planning a private party and budget is a priority I would recommend Town Tavern. Also, I would request the upper room, as the downstairs room can get crowded and quite noisy. Overall, we had a great time and will be back again next year!

So listen to this. I received a package at work and when I opened it, I was somewhat confused by the contents. It was a folder with a Cosmopolitan Magazine print out on it. All I can think was "Why am I being hasseled for a subscription to Cosmo?" But of course you know what they, You should never assume. Anyway, with further research (Opening the folder!), I was suprised to see that I was given a free hour of open bar to one of three bars compliments of The Town Tavern. Now I began to frequent their sister bar "Whistlin Dixies" from my softball team. (We were 8-6 but batted a .1000 when it came to after game outtings) and I have to say that it feels good to see that they make sure that their patrons feel valued. So I decided to have my party at the Town Tavern where I just started to go to. I just had my Open bar party there this past Friday and it was great. The bartenders and staff treated my group with nothing short of an excellent experience. Fast service - You ordered a drink and it was there or they came and made sure your glass was full. The drinks were on point. The food was great and you felt satisfied. I especially enjoyed the chicken fingers with sweet honey mustard. The Town Tavern is a great place to go on any occasion. Afterwork, Weekends and Nights. You'll meet alot of people. They have many events there so there is something different everytime. I telling you, CHECK IT OUT!!!

Recently held a party at Town Tavern through our kickball group and it was a really great event - the owners worked with our budget to ensure we got the best deal for the amount of people we had invited and really worked hard to accommodate our date and give us enough space. The waitress assigned to our party was fantastic and took care of all of our needs seamlessly. We didn?t even have to request refills on pitchers as she was on it for every table. The music was great, and they even had all the baseball games on their multiple TV's playing so it kept the boys thoroughly entertained. The bartenders also made us some really killer shots so overall it was a very enjoyable night. Would definitely recommend for any event you have or just to go and hang out with friends. Plus the practically all male staff in dress shirt & tie combos is easy on the eyes! :)

A few weeks ago Town Tavern called me and offered me a great deal. All i had to do was choose a day and tell them how many friends were coming that night. So i planned a party for my friend for his birthday there last Friday. We got 1hr of free drinks and then 2 hrs of 2 for 1 drafts.
The night ran very smoothly and the girls working the party were very sweet and were constantly making sure everything was going well.
I highly recommend Town Tavern for a party.
