Brought a small group here for my birthday after hearing good things. This was my first time at the venue...not sure if its novelty has worn off but we were there for dinner at 8pm on a Saturday night and it was DEAD! Maybe 7-8 people

I will NEVER go back to HK. Disaster.

My coat was one of the many stolen on NYE. No one from HK will answer my calls or emails. I call twice a week. I'm out $300 now and to top it all off, the coat check cost $4 in addition to the $80

Cash only during brunch policy is irritating and pointless (it's not as if the food is cheap!)

Food and atmosphere are decent but irritating management policy means it's off limits for me.

I recently visited the city for a brunch/theater afternoon, and was more than pleased with my experience at HK. The service was prompt and friendly, and the food was delicious. Cant wait to return and try something new off their menu!!

HK, Hells Kitchen, is a place I've only been to twice in my life and I can honestly say both times were a success. You go to HK with two things in mind on a Saturday afternoon: drinks and, well, drinks.

The AYCD (all you can drink) is $13.00, which is fabulous. I stick to screwdrivers, but other options like mimosas, blood mary's etc..are available. There is not a drink limit or time limit and you can hang at the bar while you wait for your table. The staff is super friendly and for the most part keep up with the crowd.

The food is not something I'd really write home about, but then again I've only had the veggie burger. Let's be honest though, both times I've been here, it hasn't been to have a 5 star meal.

The atmosphere is uppity and the doors open completely so the place essentially is an indoor/outdoor venue. On a bright, sunny day this is the perfect spot to come and have a few drinks with good friends to get the Saturday started a little earlier.

After your drinks there is an amazing street fair literally next door. What better way to end the afternoon than to let your financial inhibitions go and potentially find that vintage bag you've been dreaming of?

So much fun. This is what brunching is about. Pumpin music, eye candy galore, and fantastic food. The whole wheat bananna special pancakes are heavenly! The menu is so broad and the staff is smiling and ready to help make those tough food picking decisions. Young, hip, and energetic spot.

My girlfriends and I went to HK for brunch the other Sunday, and it was a packed house. We didn't have to wait long which was nice. We ordered drinks and our food. 2 out of the 3 plates were messed. Our waitress was so busy so it was hard to flag her down. What presumed to be a manager, took our plates back to the kitchen. My order had a hair in it and the other order was the wrong eggs benedict. When our "new" food came out, we realized it was the same food that was taken in the kitchen. They removed the spinich from the eggs benedict and removed the hair from my food. How do I know? Well i cut into half the ravioli, and mysteriously the "new" plate had that half of ravioli still on it. No more brunch dates here.

Great spot and totally unexpected. The menu is not extensive, but definitely high in quality. The service is prompt and attentive. Great decor, and the ambiance is comfortable. Definitely worth a try.

I just love HK Lounge and Restaurant. If you are in NYC you should definitely come and check out HK lounge. Its a great place to unwind, have a few drinks and to meet some of the hot locals from Hells Kitchen. The place is packed every day of every week

HK is amazing for FRAT BOI Wednesdays and also HOT MESS Sundays both of which rock and are always "packed to the rim" with the hottest boys I have ever seen (not counting the go-go boys).

If that's not enough, the Go-Go boys on Fridays and Saturdays are to DIE for, honestly I don't know which one I would rather sleep with (they are SO HOT and so out of my league but SO FUN to watch).

The staff is nice, courteous and sincere and service is great which adds to the fantastic atmosphere which is classy and laid-back but A WHOLE LOT OF FUN and honestly, this place doesn't have bad nights. So if you are in the city you should def come and check the place out.

As far as the restaurant goes the food is BANGING!!!! All I can say is chocolate souffle YUM!!! And everyone in the restaurant is so nice. Honestly if you want service with a smile, this is the place to go, you will not be disappointed.

I think HK is fantastic. it is so much fun. We came here for Brunch at the
restaurant first and ended up having a fantastic time. The portions were more than
generous and delicious with the most delicious french desserts. And the special
they had was amazing for like $12.95 unlimited Bloody Marys, Mimosas etc with
purchase of an Entree. And we had like the best server ever her name is Ricky and she rocked (just ask for her and you will be happy). After Brunch (which lasted forever thanx to those drinks)
wasted a few hours and then walked in next door into the lounge area(located right
next door to the restaurant) where the party was popping. I don't remember the
last time I had so much fun. Now me and my boy friends are regulars and come here
all the time. wed for FRAT BOY WEDNESDAYS, fri-sat are POPPING with really HOT
GO-GO boys, and Sun IS HOT MESS-the craziest, wildest party in town that I have
been going to religiously for like a year+

The hot mess on Sunday is not the day to go. The crowd is too young and wannabe model. The bartenders were rude.

my boyfriend and i went to HK for dinner last weekend. it was such a great time. our service was great and the food was delicious. we had to wait about 10 minutes for a table because it was so packed, but we luckily nabbed a seat at the bar and chatted with the friendly bartender over a cocktail while we waited. when we sat, the waiter took our order and we hardly waited any time at all before our food came to us. everything was great. the lighting was low with a romantic candle on the table and we both had a really nice time. as we were finishing up the waiter asked we were going next door. little did we know there is a huge club attached to the restaurant. so we paid and went over to check out HK Lounge. it was hot! great music. hot bartenders. hot boys. we had some drinks, danced a little, and chatted with some friends we knew that were already there. overall, it was a perfect evening. we will definitely be going back.

i recently went to HK for brunch with some friends. we first walked in to be greeted by a cute host who promptly took us to a nice table near an open garage style door. he informed us of the unlimited drink special and that brunch was cash only. this was a little frustrating until he said there was an ATM right downstairs. within a few minutes our server, who was very attractive, came over to get our drink order. when brought our drinks, he took our food order and we enjoyed the nice wheather and warm atmosphere until our food arrived. i was surprised at how quickly the food came out considering how busy the restaurant was. i ordered the chicken club. i'm a big fan of food and have had a lot of it. i have to say this sandwich was absolutely amazing! it was full of flavor and the fries were hot and tasty. my friends were equally impressed with their meals as well. during the meal our glasses never seemed to empty as the server was walking around filling us up the whole time. the food was great. the drinks were great. the service was great. i'm much looking forward returning to HK and making it my new brunch hot spot. i definitely recommend this place to anyone who likes good food, drinks, service, and a real cute staff!! commendable work!!

3 of us ordered burgers, medium-rare or medium, all came well-done. sent them back, got them back well done. flavorless and bad. it was a 90+ degrees day, we were one of 3 parties in the restaurant at the time and we practically had to beg for our water glasses to be refilled. finally, when the bill came, every entree we got (5 of us) had $1 tacked on to it. according to the waiter, that's what the computer is programmed to charge. so beware! the menu price and the bill price will be inconsistent. bad food, bad service, bad, bad, bad, bad. avoid this place.

So I've been here before, always enjoyed it. I love, love, love the food! Especially the escargots, which is quietly the best in the city. The drinks are awesome too, but OMG you have to see the new HK Lounge. It is absolutely one of the best looking places in the city. I was so fooled by the modest outside, only to walk into the type of luxurious setting that one could get used to. The music was energizing, the staff was delightful, and even the owners are HOT! It was just a great time! You should get there quick, like most hidden gems in the city, they don't stay hidden for long.

My friend and I arrived at just after 12 am. All advertising and info says they serve until 1 am. We have good friends who work in the club side and were here for a party but decided to eat here first. We walked in and stood there waiting for someone to greet us. No one did. There was ONE other table in the entire restaurant and someone there with them. This someone obviously saw us and did not respond. We continued to stand there. There were a number of people at the bar drinking with the bartender. Finally after close to 5 minutes, my friend waved down the one employee and he informed us in foreign english that they were open and that the waiter would be with us in a moment. he was obviously a barback or busser and the actual server was nowhere to be found. I should insert here that I actively, presently work in the service industry as a bartender and have for over 8 years. I always wonder who would take the time to write these reviews until I had tonight's experience. At this point I approached the bar and the bartender acknowledged me. I said to him that we had been up front for 5 minutes and that we wanted to order food and wondered if they were still serving since no one could be bothered with serving us. Yes I was annoyed and probably was a bit smug but not rude. The bartender responded to me in the most condesending, obnoxious manner I have EVER encountered. He, in a mocking tone, told me it was a friends birthday and they were doing shots and that is why they were busy. I then greeted any number of nightlife people I knew at his bar which made him swallow his words then suddenly he offered service and got us a server and a table. If I accomplish one single thing with this review I would hope it would be for someone to admonish this bartender, his tone and manner were unforgiveable. From there on in, we were provided with polite but less than attentive or quick service. We were the ONLY table and had to make an effort to get our servers attention.

The food is good, if you can get over being completely ignored by the host and wait staff. No reservations for brunch. No credit cards on Saturday/Sunday from 9-5, and they don't tell you this until after you attempt to pay the bill.

I started coming here a couple of years ago when a friend of mine told me to meet up for happy hour. At first I couldn't find this place since it is situated in the middle of nowhere and right nearby the backside of Port Authority.. However, it was the greatest discovery ever! They have two happy hours, an after work one, and if you stay sober enough, you can make the late night happy hour at 11. The martinis and cocktails were 5 dollars and they were intricate well made drinks. Since then, I've been a regular along with my coworkers. This small pretty Asian girl at the time, was our barmaid and she was super sweet and very well-tipped for the comped shots we were given. She told us about brunch specials there and we came back for more and more... The owners are these young Greek cousins and they were modest and we noticed they struck a conversation with almost everyone at the bar. This is a place that actually cares about their customers. I wish to see more of this in Manhattan. This year, they finally opened up the addition to their back lounge and it is amazing. It was well worth the wait, for sure!! The only thing though, it seems to attract a lot of the gay crowd, every good looking man in the place, I have to second guess before I strike up a smile. Also, I wish HK hired better looking staff again, back then their staff were full of pretty and sweet women from all over the world.

I noticed Fat Sal's Pizzeria across the street after a good 20-minute wait for the first course. Perhaps that could have been a wonderful alternative. As this is my first post, I do admit that my writing this review was prompted by the poor food I was served at HK. Our party decided to order "family" style and share our food, so that could explain why I was not completely satisified and left hungry, but the attempt by HK to have innovative dishes failed in my book. Swordfish over Israeli couscous - the swordfish was overcooked and dry and the couscous was undercooked and hard. Fried calamari - over cooked and really greasy, but nice portions. Fries - it's hard to go wrong here, but they were cold. Arugula and bocconcini salad - small and underwhelmed by the cold, roasted tomato. Crabcakes - complete with fillers, but it was tasty. On a positive note, the service was friendly, fun and attentive, but I am not sure our waiter was friendly with the chef.

I recently returned to HK and was pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed my second visit just as much as my first. We all know this rarely happens when you actually find a place you like. The service was fabulous, the girls were sweet and attentive, our food was delicious, and the prices were very reasonable. The first time I went was on a Saturday where they serve brunch with great breakfast drinks (mimosas, bellinis, etc) which was fun after wandering around the street fair that literally is right next door. The restaurant was packed and yet we didn't wait long for our food or drinks. The second time we returned was on a weekday for lunch and we were pleasantly susprised to find the same accomodating service and a very comfortable, yet different ,vibe than on the weekend. I would definitely recommend HK for any type of dining experience you're looking for.

I've always enjoyed my dining experiences at H.K, but recently I was exceptionally blown away. After eating escargots (to die for) and sharing a plate of the grilled calamari salad with my companion (also very good), I attended a charity event at 37 Arts with Rosie O'Donnell and finished my night off by going back to H.K--this time, to their private event space, which if you haven't seen, you MUST! Red ostrich skin booths and automatic sliding glass doors accented the secluded spot that I was privileged enough to enjoy alongside the Broadway stars I had just seen on stage. Everyone on staff was very pleasant and accomodating and I left with the feeling of one of the best experiences I've had in the city in a long time. I truly recommend H.K to anyone with high standards in food, service, and atmosphere.

I've always enjoyed my dining experiences at H.K, but recently I was exceptionally blown away. Space: Nice location on corner. Not much in the area that offers this feel: concrete, trendy feeling, candles, dimly lit, flowers, emphasis on white, frosted glass stairs and bathrooms doors. No booths, but round and square tables. Outdoor seating even when chilly (no heat lamps, its seems, though). Due to the decor, the music tends to bounce and resonate-- it?s not somewhere you want to whisper sweet nothings.

TVs: Yes, there are three or four of tubes of distraction above the bar area.

Service: Immediate seating on a Sunday night. Average attentiveness. I think the staff is choosen for a certain look and not so much a particular behavior; think pretty but slightly dull and about as quick witted as cold molassis. That said, they were, as mentioned, attentive and they listened and delivered what was ordered in the right amount of time in the right order.

Food: Good; cooked correctly. Nothing special. Tend to use that early nineties style: throw/sneeze herbs/garnish onto the plate... like someone spilt a can of fish food on the plate but didn't bother to clean it up before putting down the entree; its a tired look, in my opinion. Serving size is small and well proportioned, which is good for me.

Value: Below average. But this it not a value place.

Summary: I'd go again, but I'd think about why I'm going first. I can see this place being uber loud and confused when crowded. Go on off nights (Tuesday, Sunday, etc) for lower volume. Go for dependable OK small portion food in a trendy feeling space. I wouldn't go on a date or with someone I really wanted to listen or pay attention to.

Oh my gosh, so good! Fantastic waiter and great service. Menu has something for everyone, all reasonably priced. The food was delicious--we tried everything from drinks to dessert! Nice ambience, as well. During the day, the place looks hip and modern, at night softens into a romantic, candlelit dining room. Just can't say enough. Check this place out!

For a restaurant that likes to flaunt its "Trendy-ness", I'm totally confused by the new "look" of the service staff. For some reason this restaurant has decided to go with a new Costume for the females; one which is at the same time most unflattering and looks very uncomfortable to wear. Why would they want to put something so cheap looking on anyone in an establishment with such a High HomoClientelle? And besides, don't they understand that the cute, sultry servers are the only thing keeping the few Str8s that straggle in coming back??? One wishes that they would exploit the individualism of the Great Staff by allowing them to create their own version of the "Basic Black" that is so popular within service circles in this City!

Pros: Cute Location, Garage Doors as walls, Great Menu

Cons: Ugly Outfits

A total trendy scene BUT you are safest if you order drinks only. Service is under par, food is overpriced and poorly prepared and presented. For a mediocre diner quality experience, you can do MUCH better and still find the scene you crave. The ladies bathroom was a disaster. We will not be back.

Having eaten at this restaurant I find the service deplorable. The general manager, Red is
VERY arrogant and unfriendly. Food was so-so, noise level untolerable and I would not recommend this restaurant at all to my friends.

Living nearby, we try to frequent all restaurants in Hells Kitchen. After three failed attempts, we quit HK.
First of all, we admire them trying to pep up this area. But get real. Every visit same story. Fairly aweful service. Super-expensie drinks!! (I was charged $9.00 for a single shot of cheap well vodka, so that I could pour it into the sweet, weak martini drink.) And the food is mediocre and also pretty expensive.
Unless it is happy hour, FORGET IT.

This is such a delicious cool spot to eat. Great service without the attitude. And it's in a convenient part of town, especially to those coming from Hoboken through Port Authority!

I really enjoy this place, the food is really great and the interior is very pleasant to look at. The service is a bit slow...the waitresses tend to leave you alone and is a bit hard to flag down...otherwise, its usually a very pleasant experience.

I am shocked that I have not heard of this restaurant sooner. I have been apart of this neighborhood for years and never knew that HK existed. I have been here for lunch/diner and I have to say I was impressed...a beautiful restaurant that actually has good food. I'm coming back for brunch and I will keep you all posted.

I have lived in the neighborhood for a couple years now and have been consistently going to HK since it opened. Without exception, the food is always good, the staff friendly, the drinks quality an the atmosphere trendy yet somehow relaxed and easy. There are better places to eat, there are trendier places and there are cheaper places but this is well above average in any and every category so I am happy to highly recommend it.

I live in the area and wanted to try the rest. so we visited was last sunday evening, 6.30pm..the hostess seat us (4) as she was putting down the menus she said "you need to take your bottle of the table"..I had placed my almost emply bottle of Poland spring on the table next to me (it was 87degrees out)..I asked why and she said "because we don't carry that brand here, with that turned on her heals and left...with that my party decided to get up on our heals and leave too..I have never experienced this in a new york restaurant let alone and upscale "diner" like this...my party will never go back and the number of people I have recounted the story to who also live in the area won't either...pity I didn't read the reviews here first!!!

My boyfriend and I had just moved into the neighborhood and were looking for a place to eat. HK was recommended by our friends and has been our favorite place since. The decor is fierce and the food is absolutely delish. The staff is wonderful and attractive.

The food was out of this world. I just ate there for the first time, and I had to come home and write them a good blog because its the least I could do. It was my second date with my girlfriend and we came in for a late dinner, she had the fish, I had a steak and we shared an appetizer of escargot (snails), first time I ever had that. For dessert we shared a chocolate cheese cake and little chocolate truffles, all of course homemade. Just as we were getting ready to leave our waiter informed us of their late night happy hour which to me is unheard of, but who am I to argue. We ended up leaving around 3am and the bar was still crowded. Bravo to the people over at HK, you just gave birth to your favorite customer.

I have been eating here a few times a month since it opened over a year ago and the staff still doesnt have it together. They are slow and lazy. If you ask the server for something you get a nice roll of the eyes and an "ok fine." The food is good but usually takes so long to get that you forgot what you ordered. If the staff actually got it together and showed some customer service this place would be good. If you dont want to wait on people then you shouldnt be in the service industry.
