I had a group of friends in town and could not wait to share Nolita House with them! It has been my favorite brunch spot for about 2 years and recommend to everyone. Boy, was I wrong. Either they are under new management or it was just an extremely bad day! What I used to consider the 'best bloody mary' in the city was quite possibly the WORST. Portions are considerably smaller - we only received fries with our meals instead of the usual skinny fries with house salad. Apparently they only give one items now, not both as the menu still indicates. The Eggs Benedict and Casserole were both over done - overall, one of the worst restaurant experiences I've had in the city. My old staple has been retired.

Nolita House is one of my favorite restaurants in NYC! They have a fabulous blue grass brunch with live blue grass music and great food. Friends have enjoyed the biscuits and gravy. I love the eggs benedict, which comes with great fries and fresh greens. The French toast is also a winner. They have nightly specials as well. Tuesday is half price wine night! It's a fun place to have a happy hour where they have complementary potato chips. The rosemary flatbread is great and the mac and cheese (with bacon) is my favorite in the city!

Stopped with my grand daughter for an early dinner. Most surprised as to how good it was. I was expecting a typical but mediocre dinner and was impressed by the quality of the food.

Pros: food

Wonderful service & great food at very reasonable prices are hard to find these days in NY, but the Nolita House has all 3.

So far, I've been here twice and we've tried the Chicken wings, Schrimp Tacos, Steak, and the nolita. All are very YUMMY!

It gets crowded pretty quickly, so I suggest coming early as there are no reservations.

I finally got a chance to get back to Nolita House!!
My freinds always call the shots. We enjoyed the food and and the bartender was cool. I missed the manager and his personal touch. I was not able to locate him and they said he hadn't worked there since forever.
The menu has changed some but they still had my personal favorite, Mac and Cheese.
They use like 6 different cheeses in it and bake. I first visited during the world cup and will continue to as long as they make macaroni and cheese.
It looks as though I need to go for bluegrass brunch after hearing all about it. Chow for now.

Greatest brunch that my kids took me to. There were eight of us. Food came out perfect & tasty. Everyone had a great time. Love the free mimosas & sangria! Wait staff, very friendly & band was fun. Different than your typical jazz. Highly recommend to families.

I had a terrible experience here with a large group on a Saturday night. The restaurant charged us a "room fee" of $10 a head for dinner and didn't even give us a room. We were thrown into a corner by the window which had large cracks and caused the temperature to be unbearable. The service was painfully slow. The whole 3 course meal took 3.5 hours. The kitchen couldn't handle our request and as a result, our food came out cold. Additionally, the restaurant tried to charge us the room fee and prefix fee for 2 people that didn't show up even though the manager had specifically told us that we would only pay for the people who came. It took a lot of arguing for them to remove the 2 no show charges from our bill. The whole experience left me with a very nasty taste in my mouth.

The wait time was ridiculously long for brunch. Over an hour. The hostess was honest about the wait time though. The waitstaff are very nice here. The place had decent food with a band playing in the background. The place is a bit cramped but I think that's the draw of the place. Overall, a decent place to try.

Great place to have brunch. No frills casual dining experience for those mornings when you just wanna eat. The mac and cheese w bacon is out of this world. For brunch the brick oven eggs were great, a nice little spin on a frittata.Brick oven french toast was more like bread pudding but still tasty.could not ask for a better bargain in the city. will definitely be back for more.

We were trying to find a restaurant in a good location, close to the night life in both Soho and Bowery Street, had a variety of great food, good service and was not too expensive...Nolita House surpassed all requirements! I was a little nervous since most reviews talked about their amazing brunch and we were going for dinner but it was an amazing meal. We each had something different, ranging from the mushroom risotto with shrimp and truffle oil, goat cheese/mushroom pizza, turkey burgers and empanadas - and we were all incredibly happy with our meals and did quite a bit of sharing. The pitchers of sangria were also above par and a great value. Above all, our service was great! Our waitress was incredibly prompt and attentive, yet not too over-bearing and she was so friendly. I only wished I lived closer to Nolita House, but I will definitely return!

This place is great! I have been In NYC for 25 years and this is one of the best places to have brunch that I have run across. The Burger and fries Tops! cheeses and salads great! Beer and Wine!
lots to choose from!
And If you go in for Brunch on Saturdays 12:30 - 3:30 you will hear some of the most authentic Bluegrass and Country music around these parts! The band on Saturdays is called 'Copper Kettle' and they do partys and weddings too! Love it!

As a Southern transplant, it was such a treat to find a place that had a bluegrass breakfast! Music was fantastic, but doesn't start until 12:30 or 1:00, so keep that in mind for timing your visit. I had the French toast, which was more like fruit-topped bread pudding than a traditional slab o' bread--unexpected, but DELISH (best I have ever had). Friend had a burger, which he said was ok. Brunch includes a cocktail (mimosas or sangria, but alas, no bloody maries), soda or juice and prices are extremely reasonable. The restaurant itself is really cute (schoolhouse theme with a cheeky twist) and the service was good. Will go back!

I went to Nolita House for brunch with a friend a few weeks ago. The restaurant is lovely, very nice and mellow. The space and decor are cozy and warm, really inviting and un-pretentions. The hostess was wonderful and friendly. There was some wait, and she was totally honest about how long it would be (not your standard 10 minutes that turn into an hour). We didn't want to wait for a table and ended up eating at the bar, which was just fine. I had excellent baked eggs with ham and cheddar. And my friend ordered french toast that looked almost like bread pudding, tasted amazing, and made me regret ordering the eggs. There was also a live bluegrass band playing that was very good and did not overwhelm conversation. Can't wait to try Nolita House for dinner. I highly recommend it!

The Nolita House is reminiscent of a brick stoned bar that is situated on the second floor but happens to be a cosy spot in the Soho area where one can enjoy great food. The cheeses, pasta, and salmon were all very well prepared and the staff was quite nice although lazy at times. Prices weren't bad, probably fair given the amount of food that was provided. Beware of bringing large groups here, considering the place is not very large and space is tight. Consider bringing a date here for the wine and scene.

i love this place! a friend and i went one night and had a nice long meal without being rushed at all. we started with drinks, an appetizer, a cheese plate, and then a main course. the cheeses were so lovely, especially with the wines that were recommended to us by the owner, who definitely knew what he was talking about. my only complaint is that the vegetables that came with my main course (a delicious roast chicken) was a little too salty, but otherwise i am definitely going back here!

I work in the area and this is definitely one of my favorite spots in the city because of how versatile it is. I've been there for office parties, watched games, been to brunch and had dinner and drinks numerous times without being dissapointed. The food is great, especially during brunch, and the staff is always friendly and fun. It's a good date spot with the variety of wines and cheese (wine specials on Tuesday's) and watching games on the projecter screen while crushing cheap PBR's makes it a good time hanging out with buddies. It's also got reasonable prices.

my girlfriend and i had been shopping in the Soho, Nolita area all afternoon and found ourselves trying to duck out of the heat and the crowds. we were so happy to stumble on this breezy 2nd floor restaurant and rest our weary selves. we had white wine and shared a cheese plate. perfect! we'll certainly be back next time we need a break in the neighborhood.

Nolita House has become our go-to in the neihgborhood. The food is excellant and it's actually affordable. My favoites are the the burger and the Risotto w/Chicken. Great wine list too. Service is decent, and everyone is nice. I'd did get a little loud the last time we were there, but I guess that's to be expected on a Friday night. Nice place.

Was in town for work and a co-worker brought me here. I'm glad she did! We sat at the bar first and enjoyed the Knitting Factory martinis while talking to the very friendly bartender and others at the bar. We moved into the dining room for dinner and had a great meal! Service was friendly and attentive. Prices were great too! Was very suprised with the cheese plate. It seems a little out of place judging from the rest of the menu, but it was very good. Great selection of interesting cheeses. Thin crust pizza is good too. And the best part... the Red Sox beat the Mets! I'll be back for sure!

Met a friend here for lunch and while the food was excellent (I ordered the turkey sandwich with avocado and bacon), the service was rather unattentive -- though well meaning. It took 40 minutes for our food to come after ordering and only after I asked how much longer it was going to be. My dining companion also ordered a sandwich, so there was no excuse for this level of a wait -- especially on a work day when other people need to get back to the office. I might give this place another chance, but not when I've got somewhere to be.

Went here for brunch twice and both times I was amazed by the food. The service is a little slow, it seemed they only have one waiter for the entire restaurant. Brunch is always crowded, but never a long wait. My only complaint is that the live bluegrass music is a little loud, especially if they sit you right next to the band!

Was expecting greatness after all the glowing reviews but now suspect their odd unanimity reflects something other than spontaneous rapture (if you catch my drift). This place is nothing special (9.1?), and the service -- which suspiciously comes up for praise in 16 straight reviews -- was extremely bad. My ceasar salad amounted to some limp lettuce and mayo strewn around a large plate, and the only way I might have "died for" the mac and cheese is due to natural causes while waiting for it to arrive.

I threw my husband's 30th birthday party here the other night and everyone had a great time. The food was amazing, the ambience was intimate and cozy, and the service was top notch. On the weekends they have live bluegrass music during brunch, really fun. The food is very good and the cocktails are marvelous. The cocktail menu is written on the wall -- like on a chalkboard. The inside reminds you very much of a school house (as it's supposed to). The bathrooms are clean, the staff is very good and seating is prompt even when it's busy.

I wulved it awlot. I live in Maryland and was in NY for business. A co-worker recomended this restaurant while I was in NY. His advice was right on the money. The food was excellent for the price. And one of the managers even remebered my co-worker, who had been there three to four months earlier (I don't know if that is good or bad/just kidding). The staff was very polite and professional, and the food was delicious. I didn't make it to brunch, that I was told so much about. But next time I am in NY for the weekend, I will surely try it. Oh Oh Oh, try the sangria, I normally drink whisky, but it was a good change of pace.

This place has gotten lots better since opening last year. They have greatly improved their cooking techniques and the pizzas are very good. I really like the pan sauteed calamari salad - hard to find on most city menus. My boyfriend likes the mac&cheese that comes with a salad, and the burger. These dishes are the staples that I recommend. they serve sangra, which is always fun in the summer, and there's a big open window for a breeze. I really like this 'hood - Jane across the street is good, too.

Every time I visit New York I am drawn to Nolita House. This is everything I expect and more from a New York restaurant/bar. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, the service and waiting staff fantastic, food out of this world (and as for the pizzas - yum - the original Italian style just as mama intended). Congratulations to the owner(s) and staff, I look forward to my next visit with great anticipation! Very well done.

Pros: Fantastic Food, Super Service, Amazing Atmosphere

.

I just want to say that I saw this place written up in the NY Times as a artisan cheese haven, and I wasn't let down. Their $10 for 2 cheeses and wine is awesome. I will be back.

I was only in town for two days and went there for Dinner. The food was delicious. I was undecided as to what I wanted to order, but I think between me and my friends we had almost one of everything on the menu. We enjoyed everything from the veggies to the seafood and the ribs. We were told that the brunch was delicious as well. So we went back the next day. Not only was the food delicious, but the French toast looked like it should be framed in a picture. I can't describe it, but I highly recommend ordering it, you won't be disappointed. And yes we went back for dinner before we left NY. When we go back to NY, Nolita House will definately be one of our stops. And if any of the owners or employees read this, many thanks for the excellent food and service.

Pros: Great Tasting Food, Inexpensive, Extensive Wine List

Lived in the area for a few years and always just passed this place by when it was Risa Pizza. I thought I'd give the new place a try since it had an expanded menu and a more legit look. Went on a Tuesday, was sparsely filled, but filled up later that night. Regardless, the low-key, laid-back vibe and friendly staff set the tone for really solid meal. The food was flavorful and the wines were great. Had the salmon which was very good and the duck arugula salad which was also a hit. Of course we had to try a side of the mac n cheese which did not disappoint. After we paid and before we left they brought us some raspberry brownies as a test for a new dessert they're thinking of adding to the menu. Happy to find a neighborhood joint with good food and cool people.

great food for it's value! love the music! i wanted a glass of white wine but was confused w/ their selection, asked the waitress for her suggestion and she was nice enough to let me sample the wine she suggested before pouring me an entire glass...NOW THATS SERVICE! will definately be back.

My wife and I stumbled across Nolita House on our way to the movies and we decided to have just a quick drink. We ended up staying for dinner and missed the movie. The mac n cheese was the best I have ever had. The service was gracious and attentive and overall the place was very cozy. We will defnitely be back.

I ate at Nolita House recently and had wonderful service. In fact, I was pleasantly surprised by how knowledgeable our waiter was and appreciated his suggestions/recommendations. The food is delicious and the cheese plates are great. I would definitely recommend this place!

in a not at all crowded restaurant, my friends and i experienced the worst service i have ever encountered in a new york city restaurant. the appetizers and the main courses were good, but the service was so horrendous. our waiter could care less about our table, he ignored us for most of the evening. and the white chocolate tart tasted really really bad.

We loved it...This is a really "feel good" restaurant. Not only the food (which was exceptional!) but the service and the atmosphere just makes you think that you are having a great time in a good friend's home. Congrats to the owners...they captured "comfort"

Had a great meal here on Friday night. The grilled vegetable platter was amazing, our salmon and chicken dishes were done perfectly. The wine list is simple, affordable and comprehensive. The waitstaff was incredibly attentive and cheery. Definitely going back.

We love this cozy, little spot on Houston - just opened. Excellent comfort food (mac & cheese) and brunch (baked berry french toast).

What a wonderful experience I had recently....from the moment you enter, you are greeted by a friendly and attentive staff. The waiter was knowledgeable and helpful in making suggestions. The grilled chicken wings and pan fried calamari are wonderful and great to share. The mac and cheese is to die for as are many other main dishes including the pork ribs, roast chicken and traditional spaghetti & meatballs. Be sure to save room for one of their cheese plates offered in a creative (and helpful!) way - beginner to adventurous. The bartenders are great and certainly know how to make an excellent dirty martini. I'd go back again and again!

I highly recommend the bacon wrapped scallops, they are fantastic! Generous portions and great tasting food. Wait staff was prompt and effecient. We had a great meal in a warm friendly environment. Quiet early in the evening but picked up later, I will definately be back.
