One of my favorite restaurants on the Upper East Side. A first-class vegetarian/vegan restaurant with great food, unusual offerings, pleasant atmosphere and great service. I've been coming here for several years now and I have never had

This restaurant has a really nice ambiance and good service. The food we ordered was really, really tasty. My only criticism is that the portions were a little small for the price. Other than that, I would definitely recommend this restaurant to all my friends!

Pros: Tasty, Nice Atmosphere
Cons: A little expensive...
Pretencious vegetarian restaurant managed by someone who does`nt know what is proposing to customers.. from my table I could see people in the kitchen sitting on the floor and wearing sandals without socks and I`m wondering what the level of higyne of the place will think about that. Food is just ok, mix of asian and european concept with no sense, I reccomend this place if you like to waste your money.

Pros: worst reception
When my friend recommended this vegetarian restaurant I was wary. But I was pleasantly surprised. WE shared 5 appetizers and 1 was better that the next. They also had a nice selection of
Saki.
My boyfriend and I try to check out vegetarian or vegan places every so often. We were so glad to have tried Gobo. We're not vegetarians or vegans, but as an alternative to heavy, meat-laden meals, Gobo was great! I loved the salt-and-pepper oyster mushroom fritters- lightly battered and fried to perfect, tender consistency. The dinner menu is fairly large, so trying everything would take a few visits. We will definitely be back!

As a strict vegetarian, I love the choice in this place. Lunch and dinner menus are separate and the choices for juices and teas is great. Ambience and service is good.
You will not be disappointed !!!
Cheers

I love this place! I try to take everyone I know here at least once. The food is beyond delicious. I love love love the French truffle soup - it's a staple! The service is warm and friendly every time I go to either this one or the one downtown. Although they slightly vary in food, and both are great, I prefer this one for my taste. The price is very fair, especially for something this filling and wonderful. I always end up eating too much just because I don't want to regret not trying something :) The drinks are fantastic. I always leave very satisfied and I hope they open up more locations across the country.

Pros: Everything!
Cons: Too many choices ;P
Went there for my bday. Food was great. Couldnt tell it was vegan at all. All my meat eating friends loved it. The menu is not ur typical vegan menu. The food is very unique and delicious. We just got a couple small dishes for the table. this way we got a good selection of all different types of food. The skewers and stuffed shitake mushrooms were AMAZING and a table favorite. We also got the eggplant spread which was good and the rotti which was ok. I wouldnt recommend the avocado tartare, it had an interesting taste but no one really liked it after the first bite. the desset was excellent as well. I wanted to go to the downtown location but I couldnt get a reservation. I would still like to try the downtown location just to try some of their food (the two locations have slightly different menus). the uptown location is small, quaint and has great service and nice atmosphere. The price can be a little expensive for vegan food but it was worth it. I would definitely go again.

Pros: Great food, Nice atmosphere, unique selections
Cons: can be a little pricey (buts it worth it), if you dont have a reservation you might be waiting a while (especially after 6-7)
Tried Vegan for the first time and was pleasantly surprised - the food is of excellent quality, service was excellent, and a wonderful ambiance for a restaurant on the UES. A nice find on the too often standard fare trail of Upper East Side restaurants. When you're in the mood for something different yet surprisingly filling, go to Gobo. Try the seitan, it was great.

Pros: Decor, Food Quality, Service
Solid service, awesome food, and most of all, a relaxing environment with very friendly people!

Had my first ever vegan meal here which I enjoyed much more than I ever thought, it really exceeded my expectations. Unfortunately, the service at the door and in general were a bit poor, it wasn't a very welcoming experience. The feeling isn't helped by the kind of austere decor. If the service improved, I could be tempted to eat here at least once a week, the vegan food is that good.
