The place is very nice. I showed up to meet with some friends on a Saturday night, relatively early.

For an empty bar it took sometime for the bartender to even know I was waiting.

The drinks were on the $$$ pricey side for a place thats not a club.

And I thought the DJ turned up the music way to loud for the amount of people and type of place. We were all screaming at each other.

I go to LOUNGES to avoid having to scream and fight to enjoy the company I am with and meeting new people.

Might be a great Happy hour spot, but didn't love it for a Saturday night out

Awesome place!! Beautiful, young crowd. Came here for happy hour with my girlfriend and a few friends. Everyone loved it, moreso my friends who were able to meet several young women in the tri-state area in such a short period of time. Outstanding, prompt service. Excellent drink menu. Very affordable.

It a nice bar. I came here with my friends and enjoyed very much. Food was simply great and drinks menu was excellent. Stitch has everything to spend hours without any disturbance. Service was prompt and in just 20 minutes we got what we ordered.

This is my company's go-to place for Happy Hour. It is right near my office and we come here about once a month.

My boss let us order pretty much everything on the menu so we have tried almost all the food lol. My personal favorite is their spinach dip in a bread bowl. It is so rich and creamy and the sour dough is simply great.

Of course you also have to get the wings, nachos and qasedilla. The wings here aren't that hot and nachos are not that great but qasedilla is not bad.

Drinks menus are great and their service is usually good. I won't come here unless it is an after work thing though.

I had an office party here a few months ago and it has quickly become one of our favorite after-work spots to go. I had friendly, speedy service at the right price - $10 for 20 hot wings and $5 beers. After happy hour, I tried one of their specialty cocktails and found my new favorite - The Lingerie. A little fruity, a little coconutty, and a solid amount of vanilla vodka perked me right up! Fun music and a nice crowd for a Thursday night. The goat cheese salad is delicious if you need a substantial meal.

Pros: 5$ happy hour specials and amazing staff

.

First, the service was terrible from the non-existent waitress to the bartenders who were incapable of making eye contact with people waiting.

Second, several people in my party ordered the same drink at different times and each of us paid a different price.

The sign says summer specials for $5. But the sangria was $7 at the bar the first time and then $9 when my friend bought another round 30 mins later. And no, "happy hour" which doesn't exist here, had not ended.

Completely disorganized rip off.

I have yet to check this place out while in action but I just learned there's going to be a HUGE fundraiser for an organization called Stockings With Care there with Celebrities from NY TV, Film & Broadway tending the bar!! It's Wednesday Nov 11th from 7-11pm and only 20 bucks to enter. And for a good cause, it seems.

Should be fun. I'll let you guys know what I think!

Nick organized my birthday happy hour over email - very helpful answering my questions and no fuss. I told him I had at least 20 people coming and he reserved this huge table for me upstairs (no charge and no bottles to buy). All my friends had no problems getting in and we had the table all night.

Living in NY for 4 years I've always had issues with places - either cover charges, getting in, not enough space.. Stitch has always been one of my favorites. Good music, good space and this was the first year i had my birthday party here and I'd recommend the place to others.

I was at Stitch Dec 20 for a friend's birthday. We had a table reserved for 8pm and it was ready when we arrived. Our party ordered many appetizers and every person ordered a sandwich and multiple drinks. The food was okay, nothing to write home about, but not bad by any means. However, our waitress was not equipped to deal with a nine person table. She very rarely asked us if we wanted drinks, mind you this was on a very snowy night in NY and there were very few people there when we were eating. She would disappear for long stretches of time and we would have to go to the bar to order drinks. Also, she rushed the apps out onto the table and then came by every three minutes or so asking if we were done with the apps when there was plenty of food left, we had to repeatedly tell her that we were going to finish the apps. The sandwiches came out and the food was okay. But, the non-existant waitress was back, not asking if we wanted drinks although at several points in the evening the majority of people at the table were out of drinks. She was taking our plates that still held uneaten food. I watched as the waitress took my boyfriend's plate when he still had an entire burrito left on it while he was distracted and talking to others. Unfortunately, the talk should have been about my friend's birthday, but it wound up being about our horrible waitress. She did not deserve the 20% tip that was left to her by any means, unless she is going to pay for training to become a better waitress. I would go back there for a drink perhaps, but I will definitely be going elsewhere for future parties and dining.

Listen, friends, if you want to throw a nice party on a budget, I strongly suggest STITCH! I moved to NYC from LA just before my husband's 30th birthday on October 15th. For weeks I researched venues in this city, and most of them, though beautiful, have a rental fee or require that you spend a certain amount in food and beverage, etc. All I wanted was a cool, private area to bring together close friends, but as time went by, that began to seem like an impossibility, until I found Stitch. A great space with no fee and no minimum? Seemed too good to be true. So, before making a decision, I read every single review posted on this site. Some made me feel confident about Stitch, others made me a little nervous. But, in the end, I decided to take a chance and I am so glad that I did. I can't account for any of the negative reviews you might read if you keep scrolling down, but I can assure you that my experience was 100 percent satisfactory. Stitch provided everything I wanted and much more. I was given the party area upstairs. It has a private bar (you can have an open bar or simply a cash bar), lots of seating, and wonderful intimate lighting. I ordered party platters through Stitch which were set up beautifully on a white linen table, hot and ready to eat, just before my guests arrived. I ordered a birthday cake from somewhere else, but Nick, who rules, still allowed me to drop it off that afternoon. They kept it safe and cool for me all day, and the moment I needed it that night, they brought it directly upstairs and placed it on the food table. Best part? They have a flat screen on the main wall upstairs for your own personal use! I burned a slideshow on my laptop of my husband's life and played it all night! They cannot allow sound for obvious reasons, but it was that final personal touch that made the evening, bringing so much joy and laughter to my guests. So, please do yourself a favor and take a meeting with Nick. He'll take excellent care of you.

Cons: I can't think of any. Really.

Can a bar be sophisticated and cozy at the same time? Stitch pulls off this seeming contradiction with ease. My professional group of science writers recently held an informal event there, and everyone present raved about the food, the service, the staff, and the atmosphere. We took over the semi-private balcony area, where we were treated like special guests by the friendly wait-staff and our gracious host, owner Nick Cohen. Check out Stitch's fabulous high-ceilinged, wood-paneled space and delightful menu...you won't regret it!

I had a party there on June 21st. My friends and I had a great time! The place is great...we were seated in the balcony in our own little section with tables. I will definitely be coming back!

I went there tonight (June 28th) a saturday, my actual birthday. I made reservations about 1 and a half weeks in advance for a party of 10. I arrive at Stitch by 9:30 and there's maybe 30 people there. I read a review that suggested to try for the balcony seatings but when I asked for tables up on the balcony, they said it was closed off because there was only 1 waitress that night. I understand that, so we were seated all the way up front. My guests arrived and the waitress took good care of taking our food and drink orders but when I asked about the open bar specials (as advertised on the Stitch website) on saturdays, we were told that they don't do that anymore. If that was true, then don't advertise it. We asked the bartenders as well because the waitress told us she just started but it seems that the bartenders were unsure as well as hard to understand (heavy european accents). I would have really appreciated the open bar specials because at $10 a cocktail, the open bar specials would've helped out tons because including me, my guests ordered and consumed plenty. Then the bartender proceeded to say that Stitch was opened only until 12 but I had made reservations for 10-1 (so she was either trying to get us out early or she didn't know what she was talking about). I suggest that if you advertise something, go through with it and inform your bartenders and waitresses what the deal is because if you aren't going to offer open bar specials, don't put them up on the website because that is false advertisement. The drinks were decent and my guests truly made the night amazing! Just another thing to point out, although it was my birthday, there was nothing done, no discounts or free shot or anything and when asked if they give out free/discounted drinks, 1 bartender replied that "they had just returned from probation because she gave out free drinks 1-2 years ago." No offense, but why would you hire someone like that again??

Pros: Good drinks (not at all watered down), great waitress

Cons: Not at all good at customer service and people don't know about open bar specials

We recently held a happy hour event at Stitch for our local area alumni. Nick was great to work with and reserved the spacious balcony for us. The alumni had an awesome time and our waitress Cheronda was very attentive. I would highly recommend this place for people looking to host staff parties, alumni events or any other large (~50) group event.

The fantastic staff of Stitch Bar and Lounge helped me pull off the most amazing private party. My organization is a new nonprofit start up with a VERY tight budget but Stitch was more than happy to work out a deal with me that was a win-win for all involved. We brought in business, our guests got a great deal on food and beverage, and my organization didn't have to spend money on entertainment. What's more is that they have a GREAT party space upstairs on the mezzanine level. They worked hard to clear the area for me and helped me post signs etc. The service is super fast too! We had two bartenders and waitresses covering a lot of ground and making lots of people smile. The DJ was great and very understanding when we asked for the music to be turned down a notch to facilitate more conversation. I find its hard to come by friendly and flexible service in the city when you're not looking to burn wads of cash. Stitch showed me that's not always the case and I am looking forward to hosting future events with them.

The bar is in such a good location relative to my work it's a shame I won't be going back. I tried a second draft beer different from my first because my first was warm. I handed the bartender back the full draft and asked for a bottle because it was warm. She said the kegs were in the fridge and refused to give me a bottle and when I said I didn't want the beer, she poured it out and charged me for a new drink. Obviously the bar's fridge isn't cold, or it was broken. I could not believe she would have rather me walked out than give me a bottle of beer (I paid for the draft already). This is not a place I will be visiting again.

Went there afterwork for a few drinks and light eating. By the way, you'll have to scream if you intend on having any sort of conversation.

Also, waitress totally screwed up my drink. Instead of immediately getting me what I had ordered, she proceeds to clear the table next to me, chat it up w/ her other customers, and basically got back to me on her own time...ugh

I recently organized a gathering for my husband and a few other friends who were celebrating birthdays. Nick, the manager or owner, was very gracious and a pleasure to deal with. I called about a week or two in advance and he reserved a spacious area in the mezzanine level/balcony bar for us. It had cozy couches and tables where 20 or 30 of us could comfortably sit and enjoy appetizers and cocktails. The food was good and regular drinks (beer, wine, etc.) were reasonably-priced by Manhattan standards. Some of us also enjoyed Stitch's specialty drinks, like the Lingerie and Cashmere. The venue itself is very attractive and spacious. The staff was receptive and welcoming. I definitely plan to return! I may even suggest that my company try to hold our annual holiday party there.

I may even suggest that my company try to hold our annual holiday party there.

.

Stich is great! I always feel welcome there, and the two bartenders who usually work the bar- they look like sisters- are very precise and hard-working. Since the bar is located in the Garment District, it's very smart of the management to hire bartenders who look like models and not like some Wisconsin cowgirls!
I can see why some female customers give the bar staff a hard time. Like the lady who wrote about the bartenders expecting her tip money. Well, as a casual observer, I recommend to TIP THE BARTENDERS in the first place, instead of expending energy on citysearch and writing sub-par comments about them or those who work in the millieu. Just because you couldn't get into Pangea, dont' take it out on the people at Stitch!

The bar and atmosphere itself is great but the bartenders not so much. When has it become customary for a bartender to help themselves to a tip?? Two women, who looked very much alike, were working the bar and presumed (wrongly I might add because we were still there ordering drinks) our money on the bar was a tip. We were about to add more money to pay for our newly ordered drinks when we noticed it was gone. Apparently money on the bar is up for grabs. Not only did they take money from the bar, they were slow and rude. It was quite difficult to get a drink. After that, a friend of mine (who came later and missed the money swipe) ordered a few drinks that totaled $16, she gave her a $20 but never received change back. She was going to leave the $4 as a tip anyway. I convinced her to get her change. How audacious of them to assume that their lack of service demanded such a consideration. My friends and I will never go back.

Stitch rocks... its a fun venue, big and wide open. the staff is friendly and there is no attitude which is found at most other venues of this size and hipness. Ask for Nick, he is the head of promotions and manager there. He is the man!

enjoy it after a night out at the garden. After all U2 did after there concert there a year or so ago. Bono was smashed!

My childhood friend decided to celebrate her bday this past weekend at Stitch. We were offered the 2 hour open bar for 30 bucks....but just as we finished having our last drinks to wrap up the Open bar....they kicked us out! They were closing the bar at 1:30 AM!!!!!!!!!
Who closes that early in NYC???? Needless to say we were forced (about 20 people) to go to another bar!

This place is wwwwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaK!!!!
dont waste a good Friday or Saturday night there

My sister and I have been celebrating our birthdays together for the past two years. This year we were looking to stay away from the club scene and were focusing more on low cost and great atmosphere. And thats when we found STITCH. From the minute I contacted them for more information I got the quickest response. Nick Cohen was such a delight and helped me the whole way through being that I am the most annoying party planner anyone will ever meet. Ive planned parties for years and its never been so easy. He reserved the Balcony Bar for us that fit 100 people for a private party at no cost. He also informed us that there was an Open Bar option. Two hours of our choice (We chose 12am-2am) for $30 TOP SHELF open bar and $45 from 11pm-2am. As a frequent NYC bar hopper this has to be by far the greatest deal I've come across. Drinks in NYC can start at a minimum of $10 and can triple as the night goes on and thats for just one drink. And the best part of all there was no cover at the door. What a sweet deal I tell you. The night of our party I got there around midnight NO DOOR DRAMA was the first plus. As I walked in downstairs was packed! I proceeded upstairs and fell in love with the setup it was beautiful. Just like in their pictures. My friends had started arriving and took full advantage of the open bar.The bartender was a sweetheart and the drinks to my surprise were nowhere near watered down. Talk about more for your money. I had the time of my life! The music was great, the drinks were the best, and the atmosphere was by far amazing. My friends could not stop raving about the spot I had chosen. Since then my phone has not stopped ringing; they all want to celebrate their birthdays there as well. I'm just glad I found it first gives me one hell of a bragging right. 5 stars all the way. That was my first of many nights at STITCH. if you are looking for a good crowd, great music, strong drinks, and phenomenal service STITCH is without a doubt the place to be!!

I've had cases in bars where wrong drinks are added to your tab. A pain, but easily fixed when settling. However, this was the first time that I've ever had a bar give my credit card to someone else when they left. That's what happened to me at Stich. And the best part is that I knew something was up when the bartenders didn't have much going on and they took 10 mins to show up with my tab. They kept huddling together at the other end of the bar. Then when the bartender finally told me that my card was given to someone else I asked to see the manager. Another great response - he wasn't at the bar. You've got to be kidding me. A bar in NYC on a Friday at 7:30 and the manager is AWOL! I had to wait 5 more minutes for him to show up. By the time he showed up I was already on the phone with the credit card company and found that 2 charges were already made with my card. They voided them immediately and cancelled the card. I'm sure he had fun when trying to pay for his next drink. By the way the bartender told my wife that the other guy was a regular - doesn't say much about the regulars does it. All the manager was concered with was me going into his office to resolve this. Not much else for them to do since they screwed up my Friday evening.
>>
I would not have been irate if there was a manager on premises when the bartender reported the event to me. I was told to wait until he could show up. I was NOT given a time estimate. So, I went outside to call AMEX immediately since I had no idea how long it would take for the manager to show up. When I called AMEX I was told that there were already 2 charges made. All the manager finally wanted to do after he showed up was take me into the back office with his 6-5 bouncer in tow. I was not going into a closed office with 2 people that I did not know since they had already violated my trust by giving my card away.
Don't have to worry about us coming back - plenty of other bars in the city that don't give away credit cards.

i loved this place. for those S*x and The City fans, the darkness of the decor and the lighting reminds me of Steve's bar "Scout".. LOL.
The waitress was super friendly, accomodating... The drinks were great, I had the "Ruby Red Cosmo" YUM!
The food was tasty--I ordered the Chicken Rolled Quesadillas (I could have ordered another one)..

Very clearn, not too loud, close to Penn Station....
Going back soon!

I had my gf's birthday there about 3 months back and meant to write this review a while back. This is a great place to have a party, the staff was very friendly and accommodating, especially the bartenders and the bouncers. They placed us upstairs instead of reserved downstairs when the party ended up being instead of reserved 20 people about 35. The open bar was great. I do sincerely apologize to the management for a few of the guests at my party throwing up outside of Stitch (it was around 3 a.m.), take it as a complement to the job well done by your bartenders.

Pros: Parties get their own area, amazing 2 hour top shelf open bar for $30

This is a good place to throw a party and come for happy hour. The location is great if you are looking to pre or post game for a MSG event. Beautiful decor and accommodating staff.

So I searched high and low for the perfect place for my going away party and, after reading all the reviews, took a chance on this place. It's definitely nerve racking to have a party somewhere you've never been, but I definitely chose right! Nick was great with helping me set everything up: no cover, top shelf open bar for 2 hours (only $30), reserved table, the works. When we got there later than anticipated on a saturday night, our waitress, Sharonda, offered to push back our open bar so we wouldn't miss any of it...I've never heard of a bar that does that! The drinks were great (try The Lingerie) and the spinach-artichoke dip was a-mazing. I usually find it difficult to find a place that suits everyone's taste, but Stitch was perfect...you could chill at your table and eat, drink at the bar or create your own little dance floor (like we did). Music was great, place was big (never had that "too crowded" feeling), location was super close to penn station (for all us long islanders) and we had a great time. If you're looking for a great night out in the city, go here!

For the second year in a row I hosted my party at Stitch and it was amazing. I had about 50-60 guests and we reserved the private upstairs balcony bar for the party. The open bar deal is one of the best around, especially when you have your party upstairs on the Balcony because the bar upstairs is private for your guests and you NEVER have to wait for a drink. Nick, the owner, is a pleasure to deal with and will ensure that your party is great. Great music, great space, good strong drinks -- trust me, you won't be disappointed!!!

I just celebrated by birthday at Stitch. It was a great experience. It was my first time there, but I can assure you that I will return. I was with ~20-25 of my friends and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. The facilities are nice and the DJ was great (a mix of 80s, 90s and current top 40 hits). If you're interested in planning a party, contact the facility. Provided you call in advance, they'll be able to reserve a table for you. In addition, for such occasions, there's an opportunity for a top-shelf open bar deal of $30/per person for 2hrs or $40/per person for 3hrs (top shelf = specialty drinks, top shelf liquors, beers and wines). We even brought in a cake and they'll provide you with all the tools you'll need to cut and serve it up. The staff was courteous and professional and continually asking if there was anything they could do to assist our party.

I had an amazing night at STITCH. I found it here on CitySearch and reserved a space for about 40 people for my birthday. This space I reserve (without paying a fee) was by the DJ booth: looking over the main bar, very private, with its own bathroom and bar. The staff (particularly Kevin, Nick, Belinda, Maria, and Kat) were incredibly friendly, informative, accessible and consistent. Planning for the party was really easy. The DJ was great. The waitress, Kat, was amazing, she was sweet, quick, friendly and very helpful. The event manager on duty, Belinda, was constantly checking in and making sure we were doing great. The drinks were wonderful, specialty cocktails were tasty and fun (especially Suede and Lingerie!). The open bar deal of $30 for two hours ($15 for an additional hour) was fantastic, it included all the specialty drinks, top shelf liquors, and beers and wines. The door staff was pretty good, they could have been a bit friendlier but there standoffish mentality is understandable in the bar setting. I could have asked for a better place to celebrate my birthday. I was so impressed that I actually took the time to write this review. Kudos to Stitch!

I was meeting up with some old friends on Friday and wanted somewhere central in the city to meet. We ended up at stitch (which had been recommended to me). It was perfect!! The atmosphere was fun and upbeat. We had some apps and drinks and what really stuck with me was what great service we received. I highly recommend going.

I have been to stitch a few times and have been very happy with the place. The atmosphere is friendly, fun, and engaging. The place is spacious and the bi-level design makes for a way for people to spead out without making things appear sparse. The upstairs level offers a good view of the people below and the huge TVs behind the bar, which are usually broadcasting games of interest. Usually the place is crowded but not overcrowded (translation: perfect). Drinks are well made and reasonably priced. I have only had a few items off the menu, and they were pretty good. The location is fantastic (near Penn station), and I have never had to wait in line at the door--(a big plus, especially in the winter time!) The crowd is mixed with respect to ages and backgrounds, which makes it a good place to link up with old friends or meet new people. I am not sure what some other people who already wrote reviews here were talking about... I have never had, (nor have I ever seen) any problems between staff and customers.

Bottom Line: This place is a gem in a city full of overpriced and over-rated establishments. You get good food and drinks, meet fun people, and stumble home happy-- all from one place. What else could you possibly want??

I never welcomed the world of the online reviews, but curiosity got the best of me. I logged on to check out my local watering hole, Stitch Bar. The first review I see, the review (the below this one), my suspicions were validated. People have problems and they choose to displace these problems on people in the service industry. I have enjoyed Stitch 2 to 3 times a week for a year now, and have scene many encounters the Staff and Ownership of Stitch have dealt with. They are always professional and accommodating. Hahaha ...problem with security, those pussycats. They are one of the friendliest owned/staffed Bars I have patron in NYC....people leave your problems at the door. It?s a tragedy to give good people a bad name...shame on you !!!
