For corporate events, business meetings and special occasions, often there's a trade-off between great location or great food. Not so at AJ Maxwell's Steakhouse. Besides being located in the heart of Midtown at historic Rockefeller Center and adjacent to the theater district, AJ Maxwell's is one of New York City's premier steakhouses and the only one in the city named to Tom Horan's America's Top 10 Steakhouses list. In addition to offering tender, perfectly cooked meat AJ Maxwell's features the freshest seafood, along with innovative sides, decadent desserts and wines to match each course. Our five cozy private dining rooms - centered around our wine cellar - occupy an entire floor of the restaurant. We can host lunch or dinner parties from six to 60 and cocktail parties for as many as 450. AJ Maxwell's - A Classic New York Steakhouse.
WOW! What a nice place. Upon arrival we were greeted and seated immediatley. The staff was very friendly, the atmosphere was casual yet elegant, the restaurant was clean. All the makings of a happy visit.
The food was delicious, the servings tremendous! Very impressed.
The ladies room was clean, HUGE- large vanity area w/ seating separate from the lavatories. So nice to find a "real" bathroom in NYC, not a coat closet!
Within walking distance to Radio City, we highly recommend this restaurant. Can't wait to go back.
Pros: Fast, Friendly Service. Plenty of elbow room. Clean. Delicious food.
Cons: Sort of expensive. Steep steps to bathrooms. Small tables. (they offer larger tables though).

AJ Maxwells is the best restaurant I've been to in NYC. The food was delicious!!!! I can't wait to go back.
Pros: Steak and Side dishes!!!!!!

This new hot spot has a plush bar area, beautiful dining area and the food is absolutely delish!
I started w a delicious crab cake for my app, and for my entree the waiter suggested the filet. It was one of the best steaks i've ever had -- plus, the huge side of mashed potatos made the meal complete! My wife had the short ribs and they literally fell off the bone... she couldn't stop raving about them.
We ended the evening with coffee and a awesome pecan tart.
I would high recommend this restaurant! btw, parking is so convienent... garage right next store, as well as street parking.
Pros: first, garage parking and street parking - service, food!!!

Ate here before but read the review in CRAINs magazine about the RibEye, so I had to try it. Rstr was packed, patrons all over. Staff is still very friendly and management was checking on tables. Excellent wine list for the pricing. I started with the crab cake, moist one of the best I've had. My friend had the bacon slices...chard to perfection. My entree I had the Rib Eye, HUGE, meat was perfect, char-broiled on the outside and the right shade of pink on the inside. My friend had the veal chops...HUGE portion and full of flavor. For the sides we had hash browns, creamed spinach and mac and cheese. Everything was perfect, don't understand what others are talking about....they must not understand the true meaning of char-broiled nor waiting for perfection....quality vs. quanitity...if you KNOW anything about meat, this is the place to go.
Pros: MEAT LOVERS HEAVEN
Cons: NOTHING

Wow! I went to AJ Maxwell's yesterday for a business lunch - which was the first time I've had lunch there - I usually go to the main dining room for dinner. It was perfect. I had a spinach salad with grilled shrimp, and brussel sprouts, too. The salad was amazing - the shrimp were huge! I couldn't go without the brussel sprouts that I get every time!
The service was once again wonderful - didn't feel rushed. Liked the crowd - anyone who works nearby should make this a regular stop!
Also, I saw their new private rooms and the wine cellar. Beautiful wood!
I can't wait to go back.
Pros: Food, ambiance, service
Cons: none

And the service was wonderful! Highly recommend it!
Pros: Atmosphere, parking
Cons: none

Gotta be one of the worst place to eat in, not only can AJ not cook a decent flavored steak, they cant get it right after 3 attempts and on the 3rd attempt, they try to speed things up by being lazy and recycle food from the first platter, its really not that difficult to put together a dish that consists of only 3 items and adding some seasoning, please dont try to embrass yourself by using food from the first dish that I returned that was overcooked. What restaurants in their right mind would ever recycle food on a platter, if they recycle a dish like this, who knows what else they do recycle onto your plate. Its really embarrassing to be called a steakhouse when they cant even get "Medium" correct, no its not WELL DONE, or RARE, its MEDIUM, and please dont place that first piece of Foie Gras from the welldone piece back on my platter and plate it with a fresh piece, its not that hard. If you looking for a place that overcharges and cant get the meat or seasoning right, this is the place. Theres plenty of places to eat, dont waste your time or money here.
Cons: Overpriced, Tasteless, waste of time

I've been to AJ Maxwells a few times now and each time I'm there, I'm never disappointed. It's a beautifully decorated, upscale restaurant with impeccable service and fabulous food. The Chilean Sea Bass oozes flavor and the jumbo seafood cocktail platter is to die for...packed with other assorted goodies on the plate. They also offer a wide variety of mouth-watering desserts . Great bar area too...very roomy and very happening with a cool mural/wall of the 4 caesars and lots of fun people. If you want to dine where you will be made to feel like a VIP...go there...you won't be disappointed.
Pros: great ambience, great bar area, convenient mid-town location

This restaurant has great food, great atmosphere and great service. What else could you ask for in a restaurant. The dishes had great presentation and the meat was succulent and delicious. The seafood was also great. Their seafood appetizer was spectacular. There was a great array of desserts as well. I highly recommend A.J. Maxwell's.
Pros: The portions are huge.

What a beautiful steakhouse with a great variety of food, all of which is delicious. You can't finish the steaks, they're so huge and cooked to perfection. Impeccable service and delicious dessert menu.
You have to try it!
Pros: Well greeted and feel like a king
Cons: city parking

I was looking for a steakhouse that wasn't one of the "usuals" and I found AJ Maxwell's. Very nice ambience, food was delicious, but pricey, which was okay. They had a great wine list, which was very important to one person in my group. Steak is one of those things that I don't cook at home so I expect a lot when I go out for it. Maxwell's didn't disappoint.
I would definitely return for another meal. Maybe this time I'll try the seafood. The table next to us went that way and everything looked yummy!

Highly recommended. The food is excellent as well as the service. The atmosphere is romantic and up scale. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Had a business lunch at AJ Maxwells recently. I must say the food and ambience were excellent and yet another great NYC steakhouse you must check out. Up there with some of the best in the city.
Pros: STEAK LOVERS, Business expense accounts, location

My favorite steakhouse in New York. This place even beats Lugers, people. Food, service, ambiance - amazing. I've eaten here 3 times already, and every experience was wonderful. I've had the ribeye, the salmon, and a burger/fries at the bar, and they were all exceptional. Plus the mac & cheese!!! Oh, so good! This is a great place for a romantic meal, a group meal, or just some bar food and drinks after work.
Pros: Bone-in ribeye, ambiance, service
Cons: I can't think of even one.
