Zero credibility. Made a reservation for early morning. Car shows up on time and once in car the driver tells me I was given the wrong price for the trip. Given that I had Carmel provide this same transport 3x prior, i knew the fare I was quoted originally was accurate and that the driver was just trying to rip me off. The driver refused to go unless I agreed to the higher fare. He assumed that since the pick up was at 2 am and at a bar, that i would be drunk agree to his higher fare. Well I told him what he can go do with himself and found a more reliable service 2121-777-7777, which picked me up in 15 minutes (for the same fare i was originally quoted by Carmel). Do not use this service. They lie and rope others, like the supposed dispatcher whom the driver apparently called (though it was likely a non Carmel employee) because the "dispatcher" couldn't find my prior reservations in his data base. Do not use. Liars, cheaters, dirty cars, dirty drivers. Plus customer service does not respond.

I've been using Carmel for rides to and from the airport for years. Usually they are on time when going to the airport, but it seems they have trouble picking me up at the airport to go home. I dislike having to contact my driver and wait at some designated spot on the sidewalk at some odd place in front of the terminal because its more convenient for the driver. The cars are getting dirtier every year and the drivers less professional. I think its time for me to move on.

I ordered a car to collect me and family from JFK on January 1st at 6.15pm. I arrived on a transatlantic flight with my wife, 2 year old and 9 month old. I called them from arrivals area 10 minutes after the scheduled arrival time. The first time they transferred me to an answering machine. The second time, they said the driver left because we didn't show up (10mins after arrival!). They dispatched a new driver. He called me about 15 minutes later to say that he was outside at a specific pick up area. We trudged outside in the snow pushing an overloaded luggage cart and carrying 2 exhausted kids to find that he was not there. I called his cellphone and he said that he was on the way to the pick up point, but would not be there for 10 minutes. We just got a cab. They said that a supervisor would call me back to apologize, but never did.

The reason to pay the premium for a car service in my opinion is the comfort and peace of mind of having the driver waiting to collect you. Their cars are not any more comfortable than NYC cabs anyhow. This company is appalling and has no regard for the customer.

I will never ever ever use Carmel again.

I hired these guys to drive me to EWR from JFK. They arrived late and the car was not comfortable and cleaned as depicted in the advertisement. Will not hire these guys again.

My partner and i decide to call carmel to do a pick up from Manhattan to the JFK international air port for a friend who was here in vocation and we knew that carmel prices was a little high compared with others car service company in Manhattan but they was offering a good service on the phone. However wen the car arrived we beguine to get hit by all those extras fees.
-we were 10 minutes late, $ 6.00
-we have one stop 10 blocks from my home $ 10.00
-another $10.00 for one extra bag in side the car.
I did it in the harder way, next time yellow cab for sure.

Then when we go to leave the event they tell me the car broke down and there is no backup car!! In all of NYC they have no car to get us... and like I am to believe the car broke down... I got completely soaked in my tux not to mention my wife and her dress. They tried billing my credit card for half the ride!! You could not pay me to use them again. Please call someone else!!! Carmel is a disaster!!

I made a reservation with Carmel on Monday May 24, for a pick-up in Manhattan on Tuesday May 25. I waited for the car, at the appointed time, but it didn't show. I called Carmel, and they had completely LOST my reservation. They then promised to dispatch a car within 15 minutes. I waited 23 minutes -- but no car! At that point, I took a taxi, and called them to cancel the new reservation. They told me to call customer service, leave a message, and customer service would call me back. I did this, but customer service never called back. So in this particular experience with them, they made 3 "commitments" (one of which was to pick me up at a given time and place), and they broke each one! Not at all reliable.

CARMEL is the only car service I use in NYC. The drivers are punctual and courteous and the dispatchers are attentive and friendly. BEST service to and from JFK, EWR and LGA. I also use CARMEL to pick up my clients from the airport because their cars are easy to identify (big plus) ... YELLOW TAG 666-6666 ... They are also great around town and always on time.

The price is similar to a cab, but you don't have to wait in line and worry if the cabbie is going to take you on the scenic route in order to increase the fare. I really like the pick up service in the city. Usually, I am trying to catch a flight. Every time, the driver will call a few minutes before the scheduled pick up time and coordinate where to meet. Never missed a flight yet using Carmel.

The price is similar to a cab, but you don't have to wait in line and worry if the cabbie is going to take you on the scenic route in order to increase the fare. They are easily accessible to schedule an appointment with, show up on time(very important), and I find there rates to be very reasonable. I typically have to travel from NYC or westchester to the NYC airports. Their process seems quite consistent which fulfills my expectation level. Clean cars are also definitely a plus! They have my recommendation.

I don't use car services very often, but I use them on airport trips and Carmel has come through every time. They show up on time, take me to the airport, and help with the luggage. And I much prefer the car waiting outside for me to hailing a taxi, so it's worth a few extra dollars.

I have been using Carmel for the last five or six years and to be honest until recently have been relatively satisfied with the service. However on the last three occasions it has really gone to the dogs.
I live in Queens and regularly take a car service to or from Rockland County, it is a $68 fare not including tip and toll and I can't complain about the price.

On a recent trip I received a call from the dispatch 20 mins before the car was supposed to be there to tell me the car had not left the city yet and would be about an hour , this was not a big deal as I had no imposing business or engagements so the car arrived an hour late .
The very next time I used Carmel the very same thing happened they gave me a line about the car had broken down and they were dispatching another ,again this was minutes before my pick up time unfortunately this time I had meeting with a very important client and had to make other arrangements .

On the third occasion (and last time I will ever use this company) the exact same thing happens I get call from the dispatcher 15 mins before my pick up time to inform me that the car has broken down and that they are sending another but it will be at least an hour, I instantly tell her that this is the third time this has happened in as many months and that I don't believe them , I tell her to send the car but I want the trip to be complimentary or at least discounted for my inconvenience , all I got was an attitude so I asked to speak to a supervisor .

The supervisor was extremely rude and unapologetic and would not agree to discount the fare or to make any reparations for the inconveniences experienced so I informed him that this was the last time I would be doing business with them ,unfortunately my bad experience does not end here.

When the driver finally showed up,about two hours later
my wife and I pack our bags in the trunk and our two kids in their car seats and get ready to leave and even after arriving late the driver is getting a little impatient while we strap in my 3 year old and our 4 month infant.

Then we get moving, not 5 mins into the journey the driver is on his cell phone texting and talking and bear in mind we are on the Pallasaides parkway at 9 30 at night time so I tell the guy to get off his phone because it is dangerous. He had the gall to tell me that he needs to communicate with his dispatcher I retort that it is not only dangerous but also illegal and that my two children's safety are more important than anything but he continues to use it any way .
At this stage I am getting really angry and am trying my best mot to lose my temper, then this arrogant idiot nearly misses the exit and pulls across two lanes to make it narrowly escaping a collision. All the way to the city he was driving erratically and I had to tell him to slow down on more than one occasion.

Finally we get home so we proceed to take our stuff from the trunk and remove the kids , both the children are sleeping so I carry them in their car seats into our house one at a time.
As I am coming back out to pay the driver and get the rest of my bags my wife says to me that the driver was rude to her and asked where was I going that he needed to be paid because he was in a hurry ,well that was the straw that broke the camels back, did he expect me to drop my kids on the sidewalk so he could get paid immediately what an a@#hole.

I must admit I came pretty close to knocking this guy out right there the only thing that saved him was the fact he was older than my father.

In short this company does not care about its customers
and I will never use them again I will be using Dial 7 from now on even if they are a few dollars more expensive . The safety of my family and my time are worth more than that.

I am driving with Carmel for 10 years now and you know i am sick of you all , you pay pennies and you expect to get a premium service !!! what is wrong with you people, You all know the drill , a cab from JFK to Manhattan costs $45 and you pay me $40 and a $6 coupon that makes it $34 then you want me to get stuck in the traffic to drive you A*S through the 59th Bridge or the Williamsburg Bridge so you save th tolls and it does not matter if i burn $10 on Gas and if i tell you there is alot of traffic you always say oh it is okay i am not in a rush !! what is about me do you think i have the whole day for you only ? dont i have a family to feed too ? Oh it gets better, you call us to drive your behind from LGA to Manhattan in the rush hour for $28 after Carmel's take 33% i end up with $18 and it takes me an hour to get you downtown !! please get a life. If you so worry about the car being late go live in the woods where there is no traffic or leave early. How many times all of you made the driver wait for yout behind downstairs or even circle the block and burn gas so you can finish your email or talk to your friend and all of you none sense and then you get mad if i charge you waiting time ?? how many of you changed their mind after the driver is already there ? wasted his time and did not even bother to call to cancell your reservation ?? All New Yorkers do that only people out of new york are responsible and they are always ontime and then you actually have the gut to write all those reviews ? come people get a life you full of lies and next time i am gonna pick you up you better make sure you get your behind down there before i call you or i will charge you waiting time and please you either tip good or dont tip at all , i dont want your $1.50 or $2 tips the minimum in the business is 10-15% percent , if you are cheap you get what you deserve you treat me good i treat you good, you dont i will load you in the trunk next to your bags cheap people

I am driving with Carmel for 10 years now and you know i am sick of you all , you pay pennies and you expect to get a premium service !!! what is wrong with you people, You all know the drill , a cab from JFK to Manhattan costs $45 and you pay me $40 and a $6 coupon that makes it $34 then you want me to get stuck in the traffic to drive you A*S through the 59th Bridge or the Williamsburg Bridge so you save th tolls and it does not matter if i burn $10 on Gas and if i tell you there is alot of traffic you always say oh it is okay i am not in a rush !! what is about me do you think i have the whole day for you only ? dont i have a family to feed too ? Oh it gets better, you call us to drive your behind from LGA to Manhattan in the rush hour for $28 after Carmel's take 33% i end up with $18 and it takes me an hour to get you downtown !! please get a life. If you so worry about the car being late go live in the woods where there is no traffic or leave early. How many times all of you made the driver wait for yout behind downstairs or even circle the block and burn gas so you can finish your email or talk to your friend and all of you none sense and then you get mad if i charge you waiting time ?? how many of you changed their mind after the driver is already there ? wasted his time and did not even bother to call to cancell your reservation ?? Carnel has launced a new company Called Dial 4 (212-444-4444) because they know that they have alot of unhappy customers out there. They dont understand what is customer service.

I had a pick up with them going to JFK at 4:00 am for a 7:00 am flight, the car showed up at 4:10 , i was waitng in the steet , chinese guy who knew only 2 words in english GOOD TIPS , 4:30 am i got a call from Delta telling me that my flight was cancelled and i was put on other filght from EWR. We were crossing Central Park from 96th street at that time, i tried to explain to the driver i need to to Newark not JFK but HE SPEAKS NO ENGLSH. I called carmel and it turns out they have a chinese dispatcher who can talk to the driver in his lang. so long story short the $48 trip became $120 for no reason and i refused to pay, the dispatcher told the driver to pul over and get me out of the car and they will send him another job !!! i got out of the car at 4:45 and took a yellow cab to newark for $70

Last week i called Dial 4 and once i gave the operator my home phone number they knew my name and address. i was surprised but thought it was somekind of caller ID thing, at the pick up time a carmel car showed up and i told the driver i called dial 4 not carmel and he told me it is the SAME COMPANY and i refused to get in and the driver started cursing at me calling me a Bi*ch

I drove for them for 4 years. They are rude, They have the supervisor Danial, she always say if customer dont pay for the waiting time or extra stop throw them out of the car right away. They will call you names like dont be cheap or dumb if you try to tell them they are wrong on something. I will go to pick up location and call the customer at 3 or 4 am to find out they need the car the following day. They always ask us the driver to get the customer to call the 212-666-666 number in case of a problem so they can keep them on the line till they give up you should be calling the dispatch line at 212-662-2222. The complaint number is a voice mail box and most of the time they dont even hear the complaints.

9. Dont argue with the driver while he is driving , he will scare the living hill out of you with his driving and you might end up in a hospital.
10. If the driver is texting or on the phone while driving , just remember you get what you pay for and also remember you are just another fare for him and for the company.
11. Always remember that even if you are paying them to drive you, they are doing you a huge favour to let you ride in their cars.
12. If they are late or never show up just remember you get what you pay for even if they cost more than yellow cabs.
13. Dont try to call customer service to complaint , no one will return your call ever.
14. Always pay cash so the driver wont get a hold of your credit card number and he wont be able to pay his EZPass nor go shopping online with it, The company takes the 2 white copies, you take the yellow copy and the driver keeps the pink copy and he already knows your address.

Now we are on the Grand Central Parkway and the driver wants to take the tirboro bridge because of traffic on the queens boro bridge while i am right off the 59th street bridge, no big deal here is another $5 extra for the tools , Just take me home, on the FDR the driver crashes in the car infront of him because he was tailgating, he tries to get me out of the car before the police arrive because he does not want his insurance rate to go up (as he said) he want me a 56 years old to walk across the FDR and get a cab !!! i refused and he had the gut to ask me to sign the fare , what fare for god sake , i have my body all sore of the accident and he wants to get paid!!!!! I called Carmel to send me another car which they refused because they said no other driver will want to pick up an accident victim.

Eventually they ended up calling a local NJ cab company for us (after finding out -on somebody else's phone - that it was all lies and this freaking van wasnt even in NJ yet!!!!) Got back to the city for the last 1/2 hour of the afterparty.

We used Carmel twice in our visit to NYC the week of 4/20/2008. Both experiences were excellent. The car arrived a few minutes early both times. The cars were immaculately clean and very comfortable. The drivers were courteous and got us to our destinations promptly. The rate charged was exactly what we were quoted when we made the reservations. I have absolutely no complaints about anything.

We used Carmel twice in our visit to NYC the week of 4/20/2008. Both experiences were excellent. The car arrived a few minutes early both times. The cars were immaculately clean and very comfortable. The drivers were courteous and got us to our destinations promptly. The rate charged was exactly what we were quoted when we made the reservations. I have absolutely no complaints about anything.

I took Carmel from the airport the last few times i was in the city, and it was great.

Called in from the airport, got the order done before i got the suitcase.
than i walked to where i was told to wait, and after 5 minutes a great looking car picked me up.

it was clean and smelled good, i fell asleep after 2 minutes to wake up 45 m later at home, ready to keepon sleeping.
as simple as that. you fell like a VIP and it cost less than a cab.

i strongly recommend.

My wife and I have used this car service for years primality for travel to the three airports in the tri-state area---BUT NEVER AGAIN. Yesterday the van we asked for arrived and I gathered my wife, baby, stroller and four pieces of luggage up. As I locked the front door I heard the female driver call our house phone. Ignoring it, we packed everything into the elevator and went to the first floor. The driver had to circle the block because the police said they would give her a ticket if she didn?t. I packed the van and installed the child seat. As soon as we were all in the van she told her dispatcher and said that we were 28 minutes late, a lie since we were only departing 15 minutes after the call time. The dispatcher told me I had to pay a $12.00 late fee. I stated that Carmel actually owed me since they once stranded me at the airport at 1 AM one morning and had been late in picking me up numerous times. But the dispatcher was crude, belligerent and just plain nasty. She insisted I pay the fee and cared nothing for what I was saying no matter how reasonable I was. When I insisted on speaking to someone in customer service I was told, ?No. You speak to them after!? She insisted I either pay or get out of the van. All of this stress and yelling with a baby and much baggage on the middle of a busy 125th street meant I had no choice but to pay the fee. I called and asked for customer service only to be disconnected. I called back and was thrown into voice mail and told that my call would be returned?which has not happened. Then I spied my driver holding the steering wheel with one hand and texting someone on her phone below the steering column which I made her cease immediately. As she swerved through fast moving traffic he had to break before crashing into the car ahead of us.
Addendum: Customer service calle me to apologize.

We requested the car arrive at 1:30 pm, but when 1:45 om came around, we began to call to find out the reason for the delay. We were never even able to speak to an actual person, but placed on hold for 20 or 30 minutes, in the mean time trying to find another car. My boyfriend ended up running up and down the street in the rain trying to find an unmarked taxi (we live in Washington Heights, so yellow cabs are not always easliy accessible), and our phone call was never even answered-and adding insult to injury, THEY NEVER EVEN SHOWED UP! 3 days later my boyfriend found out they actually charged him for the car that never even came, we have yet to get ahold of them to clear this up. Needless to say, please do not use this car service!

When I called about 10 minutes after they were supposed to show up I was told by the customer service rep (CSR) the car would arrive in 5 minutes. I called back 10 minutes later and was told that due to "traffic" the driver needed another 15 minutes. When I asked why they hadn't accounted for traffic as surely that's part of their job, the dispatcher kept saying, "There's nothing I can do." The car showed up 45 minutes late, just in time to be stuck in rush hour traffic. I mistakenly gave them another chance on my way back from JFK. I called when I landed and the CSR said to call again when I had my bags as it would be "no problem to have a car there in 5 minutes" as they always have lots of cars waiting at JFK. I called when I got my baggage and was told a car would pick me up at the designated spot in "4-7 minutes." 15 minutes later I called back and the CSR said there was "a delay" and they had no cars in the area and would have to send someone out, so I would have to wait 20-30 minutes or loner. At that point I told them to forget it and I got a cab in 2 minutes. Considering that their job is to pick people up and drop them off on time, I'd say they failed miserably. To make matters worse, the customer service reps don't tell you the truth or just make things up. There are so many other car companies in this city; I'm truly amazed they can stay in busines. If you want courteous service, a hassle free ride and to get picked up and dropped off on time, don't use Carmel!

This is an awful car service. They have no customer service and are very rude. I recently took a car from the airport. My boyfriend and I were traveling together. They wouldn't drop him off at his apt (which is only 4 blocks away from mine) because they said we didn't state that at the beginning of the trip. By accident, I left my cell phone in the car. It's been 4 days now. Customer service/lost and found is an answering machine. No one has yet to call me back. Every time I call the main number someone is very rude to me and the last time some one hung up on me. I'm never using them again.

this car service is useless. they pay for advertising, and believe your money belongs to them. i called them to make a reservation and they kept me on hold over 15 minutes, then a woman with a foreign accent switched me to a voice mail where I was prompted to give them all my details. looked like a complete rip-off.

Where does one start.... Order the LX for pick up at LGA going to Manhattan. Pick up time was 12:30 they sent the car at 11:00am - took 1/2 hour to get a car so it was 1:00 before car arrived. Car that arrived was NOT THE LX... got an old, beat-up disgusting interior car with broken door handles dents and stained seats ... put it this way my coat is stained due to the filth of this car.... Driver took unncessary risks considering it was my $ he was driving on... THEN! Even though I had changed the cr card I was using by phone, the day prior - ... and signed a credit card slip for $40.00 they have charged my reservation credit card an additional $75.00. Trust me, the trip back was no better! The driver dropped us and our 8 bags off in the outter lane at LGA and left... we were standing in traffic with our bags and trying to get to the curb with our things... Catch a cab, walk or ride a bike! You will be better off then using Carmel Car/Limo Service for your visit to NYC.
