though everyone comes here for all the rare edition of all the big brands like vintage air Jordans or woven nikes / adidas sambas, etc. i always check out their own line "ALIFE", they are very hip and cool,
best sneakers that can match anything. prices are okay. but if you really like them like i do, also check out century21 and daffy, sometimes i find alife there for only $20 a pair!!!
PROS: great sneakers!
CONS:

This shoe store is tucked away so it's very hard to find. It stocks ridiculously expensive sneakers for hipster shoe fanatics. This is not for the average joe looking for a new pair of running shoes. They stock vintage, rare and hard to find shoes by Nike, Adidas, Puma, Vans, etc.

It's small. You won't even notice it but it's right next to the other Alife store. It's the size of a shoe closet, with shoes on display like trophies which is a concept that you should relate with if you're here to buy them, it's a triumph to find and afford the sneakers they have to offer. And if you get there at the time of a new release it may well be worth the trip.
PROS: Rare offerings
CONS: Limited selection

Hidden down a tenement hallway (theres no sign; just buzz) on the Lower East Side is the Rivington Club, where sneakers are curated with precision and displayed on a polished wooden shelf. Only true sneaker heads really know about this spot. This is the spot that will make you come out of pockets for about $200-300 bucks a pop. So don't be cheap cause the shoes are really hard to find.

Very hard to find, especially on my first time in New York. The best selection of new kicks but no sign of any vintage, but Im sure they might be out back. Incredibly decorated, great wood and leather. Service outstanding, and prices second only to Stussy. Worth the 2 hours it took to find.

Pros: Interior, Staff were great

I went awhile back to see what the fuss was about and I was disappointed by the selection. You may find styles that aren't available at chain stores, but they didn't have anything that I didn't see elsewhere. I just walked through Chinatown that day and some of the small stores there had more styles and slightly cheaper. Although those stores are much less glamourous.

Alife Rivington Club is simply the best. Best products! Best staff! Best quality!

Pros: selection, service, quality
Yes, it's hard to find, but the selection of shoes is far better than the other retail shops. However, with the advent of ebay and other hipster shoe shops, their selection isn't as great as previous hype. You might find what you're looking for, but then again the selection is small so you also may not. Their prices are a bit high too, especially for some of their retro adidas runners (i.e. Mexico). Staff is pretty friendly, though they basically just sit there and hang out until you ask them for a size.

Pros: retro variety, wooden displays, air of exclusivity
Cons: selection (too small), prices (10-20%markup)

After hearing such rave reviews, I went with high expections and found the selection very small and limited. There is nothing that I have not seen at other retail shops. I would not recommend this place to anyone or go there again. It was a waste of time.

Cons: small selection, location
It was difficult to find but so worth it! Cause of the location you would not expect this small sneaker heaven on earth!

Pros: perfect scene
Cons: location, no pics
This place was a pain in the ass to find but well worth the trip. There are no signs telling you where this place is, no awnings, nothign like that. Discreet location but lavish interior. Sneaker freaks will definitely appreciate this shoe haven. The place is small but beautiful. The workers are friendly and the prices are great. If you're ever in the city, spend a day looking for this place, you wont regret it.
