Ladies night out, it was worth the wait. The mojitos are great and the food is good, great music to sit with the girls and drink and talk. Had a great experience, will go again. It's a must.

While the food is great, the service is extremely lacking. Drinks are super over priced, $12 for watermelon mojito with nothing too special of a rum? Highway robbery! I can't believe that an establishment that is busy and very popular

I used to love going to this restaurant, until a few nights ago when I saw a 6-7 inch RAT not mouse but yes a street/train-like RAT creeping by our table after we finished dinner, I could not believe my eyes. I addressed the issue to the owner discreetly and told him to cancel the order I had placed to go because i was sick to my stomach from what I had seen. Instead of apologizing he insulted me by saying "So you are trying to say my kitchen is s*$t?" Completely offended at this point, I started to raise my voice and he then apologizes but continues to say and I quote, " I took it personal because I am passionate about my restaurant and you cannot associate a rodent you see with the kitchen because the kitchen is downstairs". He continued on and blamed the neighboring restaurants for being dirty and how this is "A CONSTANT BATTLE HE GOES THROUGH", so apparently he is aware of RATS in his restaurant and has not taken care of the issue. *BARF* It's a shame because I was a frequent customer but NEVER AGAIN!!! STAY AWAY UNLESS YOU ENJOY RAT URINE OR RAT DROPPINGS IN YOUR FOOD!!!!

Try the ajiaco, you will never have anything like that in another restaurant. This is true colombian food, and that is pretty unique!

Bogota is a great place for drinks and dinner. There is a very large and diverse menu, lots of fish and vegetarian entrees. It's very festive; you can even dine outside in the dead of winter. They have a nice children's menu and give wiki sticks to the kids--my daughter loves going there for this reason! Get the plantain chips and black bean sauce to start... you won't be sorry. Brunch is great too.

The food is great, but the portions can be small and pricey. It's the only place I know of nearby to get an obleja, though. So yummy! Really great empanadas, too.

Pricey menu, but excellent food! Portions are big and they have a great central and south american drink selection to accompany the food. I highly recommend the Tortilla Soup.

Bogota, named for the capital of Colombia, specializes in Colombian food, but also other Latin dishes. Very big menu, with something for everyone. Plantain chips are excellent. Also known for its cocktails, which are really good. It can get crowded and noisy, but not unbearably so.

This is such a fun place to eat for adults and kids. My 5 year old loves to go for the wicky stix!
I've gone there for lunch with my daughter and had great empanadas with Colombian style sancocho.
I've also had dinner there with friends and had great drinks at good prices.
It is a refreshing place to eat and I highly recommend it.

Bogota is a fun brunch destination for those who enjoy Latin, South American, and Caribbean food. It's a good deal for brunch, and the staff and ambience help contribute to the overall positive experience.

Bogota was great! My family and I went to the restaurant on a Wednesday evening for dinner...unknowing to my knowledge and nice surprise; the restaurant had an entertainer performing that night. The ambiance was wonderful. I once attempted...on the fly to have dinner on a Friday, very noticeably busy...which to me is a good sign. There was a wait and at that time it was not an option...even though they had a bar for drinks, to make the wait pleasant...I was with family...and the family did not want to wait.
Back to my experience; This past Wednesday...In whole, dinner was wonderful; the drinks, the appetizers, my main dish and of course desert. The service and music performer was super and as stated before...the food was fabulous. I enjoyed every moment...most important, I felt relaxed. I look forward to re-experiencing it all over again.

The name of this restaurant is " Bogota Latin Bistro". Bogota is the capital city of Colombia. I went to this restaurant expecting authentic Colombian food especially from the Bogota region which differs from other Colombian cities.

I can understand a menu for a Colombian restaurant offering dishes from all parts of the country. I can even understand offering dishes from other countries. I understand these folks are in business and need to draw in customers.

I am very disappointed firstly because the menu offers Colombian dishes topped off with Mexican flavors ! These two cuisines are unique ! If I want Mexican, I will seek out a Mexican restaurant. Have the owners assumed we are too ignorant to explore the delicious home made flavorful rustic cuisine of Colombia?

An arepa is Colombian but topped with guacamole or avocado? Tortilla chips??? Quesadillas?? Cubano Sandwich? Fish Tacos???

If you expect Colombian food, you will be very disappointed like I was.

If you want MEXICAN FOOD, or Mexican Fusion then go. Otherwise, forget it.

I LOVE this restaurant for so many reasons. I have been there six or seven times and each time I leave thinking it is the best restaurant in Park Slope. The menu is extensive and each dish I tried was not only delicious but a great value for the price. I always order the empanda sampler and the coconut flan. There drinks are equally great- you can't go wrong with their classic mojitio ( 5 dollars!!) and they have wide selection of Latin beers. The service is consistently outstanding. I find their waiters to be knowledgeable and friendly, but not too overbearing, they are able to make informed recommendations and can answer any question about the menu. FInally-their host staff is also great. I had a large party and they were able to accommodate us even though several members were late.I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for great food, a fun atmosphere, and good drinks.

To start with the positive, the guava jalapeno margarita was great. However the story goes downhill from there. We were there with a large group (of 12). As with many large groups, all members do not arrive at the same time. About 6 of our group members arrived first and were seated at a table for six, with the staff knowing that we were expecting more people. Within the half hour, we were up to 12. The staff made no effort to accommodate our expanding group. Four members of our party had to sit across the restaurant (while there was a large-group set-up that remained unused for the first half of our time and then seated with a couple and a small party during the second half). When the table next to us opened up, we asked our server if we could add it to our table and have our separated members join us. He offered to clean it first and did not refuse our request. In his absence, the hostess came over and rudely reprimanded us for asking our group members to come and sit near us citing issues with billing and ordering. She was inflexible and not as responsive to the needs of our group as she should have been. If there were such grave issues with us changing tables, as a restaurant hostess, there are nicer, friendlier ways of conveying such information. Restaurants are a hospitality business and the service and attitude that we received at Bogota was inhospitable to say the least. I would not recommend this place for a group gathering especially since in addition to the rude service, the food was not anything "to write home about" (I could say this having a good knowledge of Caribbean/Latin American foods by having family members in the restaurant business specializing in similar cuisine and my own extensive travel to those regions).

I haven't written on city search in a very long time!!! I almost forgot I had an account, but I have been to aton of resturants!!! I always wanted to be a food critic I go out to eat a lot!!! this place never, ever, lets me down!!! I absoultly love this place!!!! If I could eat there every day I would!!!! I've gone for brunch, lunch, dinner, snack lol!!! you name it!!! You can not go wrong!!!! Bruch would be my fav since they usually have a live latin band playing. You get mimosas, coffee, or fresh juice with your brunch. My favorite is the fish tacos (not sure if that is on the brunch menu i go there too much to diffrentiate the menu sometimes), half garlic chicken (omg delicious!!) with steamed yucca potatos, garlic spinach, or red beans with yellow rice! I believe that is all for lunch/dinner menu. I always get the Bandej Paisa (Colombian platter) for bruch, it's a bit much but I can't resist :(. Oh and the drinks!!! I've walked out of there in the afternoon and little.....well you get the idea! The only thing the drinks can be a little small, you may feel the need to order more then one, but if it's happy hour...knock yourself out!!! Oh and they stay open late on Fri/Sat always drop in for take out...they have this pumpkin cheesecake that is sinful! not sure if it's a seasonal thing.

I had an event there last Saturday, a brunch; if I had to choose one word to describe the event. "FANTABULOUS"!!! It was a big group, over 60, and the staff and the owner, George, were very accommodating and attentive. The owner was on hand for any questions or concerns we had. The drinks were terrific and so was the food. Everyone is still talking about this place. It's very warm and inviting. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who likes Latin cuisine. We had empanadas and mojitos among the rest of robust menu and everyone was very satisfied. To top it off the pricing was very reasonable. It was about $25 for an appetizer, entree, dessert and a drink. Thank you Bogota Bistro for making the event a success. I'll definitely consider this venue for another event. We all had a wonderful time. Thanks again and the restaurant is gorgeous.

I know this place hasn't been getting the best reviews as of late, but I can honestly say that they are good. I have been here 3 times within the past 2 months and I have had nothing but good experiences. The food is good, as is the service. Yes, some things are always better than others, but that is with any place you go to.

We've been to Bogota a bunch of times. We absolutely love the food there, but service has been less than good. Service is slow and food usually comes to us room temperature. This past weekend was the final straw for us. They sat us under a hot fan so we felt a constant hot breeze. We asked to be seated elsewhere when another table became available but they actually said no. So we wait 30 minutes for our food and ate uncomfortably for the rest of our time there. It's really bad that they cannot improve the service because I actually love the food there. This is not an isolated incident since we've been there many time and service has been spotty. If you want good food and good service and you are in the area, go across the street to Politos- excellent Latin food, good service.

I haven't written a review in a while, but last night I went to a really nice restaurant in Manhattan and came to CitySearch to write about it. While I was on CitySearch I came over to my old standby neighborhood restaurant, Bogota Bistro, to see what's been going on on this board for this great place. Wow! After reading the reviews and looking at the writers' profiles, it seems pretty clear to me that someone is on a real campaign to knock this place down. I was astonished at how many nasty reviewers are just one-hit wonders. I mean that if you look at their profiles, they have signed up to trash Bogota, then they never post again. I guess that is the down side of the internet, but none of those awful things about long waits and tipping is true in my experience. I've been coming here since they opened and all of the diners appear to be having a good time and enjoying the place. Go visit and see for yourself. Bogota is under cyber attack and that makes me really sad that someone out there is simply out to defame a great addition to the Park Slope neighborhood.

I came here with my fiance to celebrate our 5 yr. ann. We are both Latino. My fiance ordered salmon with kale and tostones. The tostones tasted like they were made hours before, soggy and cold. She then finds a WHITE LONG WORM in her kale! We then ordered a pitcher of caiprinias only to find there were BOTTLE CAPS at the bottom of it, are they kidding here. Our whole experience was horrible. The mgmnt. never once came over to appologize, my fiance ordered another meal to replace the "wormy" one, however they never comped. us for anything! The server was very nice and appologetic, but explained that the owners were very cheap and did not like to comp. for anything. What kind of treatment is this. I had the beef empenada and the Arroz con Pollo- they were mediorce at best. THIS IS NOT LATIN COOKING DON'T BE DECEIVED. There is much better to chose from in this lovely Kings County. Los Pollitos Locos II across the street is even better. DON'T COME HERE.

Excellent food and service. I'm in this place at least twice a month.

Really tasty food, very friendly staff and a fantastic vibe in the place.
It gets extremely crowded and noisy at times but that's the price of a really good place.
I've yet to be disappointed there.

Thursdays are really fun; there's live loud music and it's not for the timid.

Sometimes there are kids, which is a minus, my mojitos and kids don't mix.
Otherwise, you gotta try it at least once.

Excellent prices too!

i find it hilarious that this place was named bogota bistro when the food is NOT colombian, nor are the owners or cooks. i had a nice conversation with one of them but being that i was there for the food, i was sorely disappointed. i am born and raised in the area and its definitely one of the worse picks for "latin" food. it seemed more like latin food made for tourists who don't know any better and coming from two colombian parents i am embarassed that people might eat there and think this is what our food is really like. the majority of the items on the menu are not even things we use in our cooking (like chipotle for example). but authenticity issues aside, the food just tastes barely mediocre, even if it was not perpetrating as latin food. the best part of bogota bistro is the convenient location and the cocktails. stop in for a drink and then pick some where else for dinner. this used to be a predominantly latino neighborhood before gentrificiation and there are other much better and more authentic choices.

I went here last night with the gf for restaurant week primarily becasue the specials at two other restaurants didn't interest us. We were both pleased with our find. The wait staff was friendly and efficient, the food flavorful with generous portions. I thought her entree, the chipotle corn crusted salmon was dry (although she liked it), but I really liked my Bandeja Paisa (skirt steak). The restaurant's coconut flan apparently won an award from Latina magazine, but I personally preferred their tres leches sponge cake. The restauant has feel of a favored local restaurant with a mix of families with children and singles on dates in attendance. This isn't a romantic restaurant, but neither is it a drab diner. It's a festive place with loud upbeat Latin tunes playing in the background. I liked it a lot.

Pros: food

Cons: tables are too close together

.

Sit down, try a pitch perfect margarita, then one of the house specials, like the corn crusted salmon. Even if Latin food is not your forte, you are certain to like the food on this menu which, though hearty and satisfying, is not as heavy as traditional bodega food. You will not regret trying this place and will want to come back after you do!

Well, I was there on a Monday; place had decent crowd for a Monday. There were about 7 or 8 tables.
The food is not good at all. It is more mexican (elote, tamal, quesadillas, etc) than anything. And even the mexican places down on 5th & 7th avenue in sunset park are far better that this joint. Empanadas are not even Argentinian..hello they are not supposed to be fried they are supposed to be baked. Arepas are an atrocity...rice and beens NOW I AM GETTING UPSET...if you call yourself a latin restaurant and you can not do good rice and beans why even bother having a restaurant...daily special's menu had 12 items...I mean come on! I specially loved their Vegetarian dish (rice and beans and 2 sides) duhh it really shows that they thought about this one. Drinks took forever..when my beer came it was warm, I asked the waitress to exchange it. She said " I am going to put it on ice...say What?? U are kidding, right? Cancel that and bring me a caipirinha. ..I don't know if I can do that, let me ask the owner...What kind of hospitality is this? I do have to say that the caipirinha was good. In any case, I asked for the check and SORPRESA!! they included the tip. Why?..becuase they know that they are not giving good service, it is their way of saying don't come back..and it works I am not coming back there, at least not while I am walking this earth.Stop calling yourself Latin American...you are a disgrace to Latinos.

I have been to Bogata on several occasions and have enjoyed it everytime. The fish tacos, the plantain chips, the paella and their empanadas as well as their mojito was great. It is not the greatest place for conversation because it can get loud, but i still think it is one of the best restaurants in park slope.

Pan Latin food, is not my favorite cusine, but if Bogota Latin Bistro's friendly staff is preparing it with fresh ingredients, I will devour it. While I enjoyed Bogotas colorful, crisp, crunchy salads, like Avacado and Watercress Salad and Tropical Coleslaw, and flavorful Vegetarian Black Beans, my friends indulged in Fried Calamari, Garlic Shrimp, home-made brazillian style coconut flan, and festive drinks. Run by a friendly people and housed inside a colorful, charming interior, this lively restaurant buzzed with good energy. Im returning!

I live a few blocks from this place and can't stay away. The veggie dishes are wonderful and the owners are some of the nicest guys I've ever met. Every time I've gone they've been warm and helpful. Every single one of the many friends I've taken here has loved this place too. Last year I threw a surprise birthday party for my girlfriend at Bogota--they had just opened up--and the owners and staff were beyond cheerful and accommodating to our large group of people. Okay, so being from NJ myself, I have no idea if the dishes are completely authentic Latin food or what (to address the review below mine) but I don't really care because every meal and experience I've had at this restaurant has been awesome.

It is really unbelievable how the owners can put that name to this restaurant.
I am Colombian, from Bogota and trust me people this is not even close to a bad restaurant in my city. The service was so poor I couldn't believe it; anyway that wasnt the word part, we have to wait almost an hour to get insipid, small and really expensive plates, that werent even entrees. However, what it really made me feel very upset was the arepa I cant believe they dont even make it from scratch or at least buy a bigger ones. They were exactly the same as the ones I buy for me at the supermarket, which 1 pack of 5 arepas costs you $2.50 and here they charge you $5 dollars and they dont even put butter, incredible!!!!
I really dont recommend this place as a Latin one, please dont believe all the Latin places are like this one.

I was so happy when i walked into this place--great drinks and exciting menu. It literally took us about 30 min to be approached by any waiter, we had to tackle someone to get our drink order in every time and then there was about a 15 min delay till each drink arrove. they brought out each dish one at a time (by the time my husband got his food I was done).
it is too bad because the food, ambiance, and drinks were great but they need serious help on the service.

Love the vibe at Bogota. Where else can you get fresh fruit mojitos & caipirinhas. I tried their Brazilian Sangria and it was delish. My table ordered a pitcher of it.

And the tapas are great. beef, chicken & pork empanadas were tasty and enhanced by their sauces. Grilled Corn on a stick, Arepas. Patacon with meat was very filling.

The service was very friendly too. Plus they have an outside patio that is so romantic.

Whenever my family and friends come to visit from out of town, Bogota Latin Bistro is THE only restaurant of choice for me where I know I and my friends and family will walk out very happy. I've said it before and I'll say it again, the staff at Bogota rocks. It is apparent that the owners place high emphasis on the customer experience. I can vouch for it.

I walked in last monday at just 2 minutes past closing time and the Colombian owner greeted me and my friend and was able to accomodate us although their kitchen had already closed. This is what I call great customer service. Not only was he gracious, he made sure that our food came out timely and perfect. Nor did we feel rushed. Bogota won me over long ago and I will continue to patronize this great addition to Park Slope.

After having many people recommend this restaurant, we decided to try it. I was extremely disappointed by the service. After being seated, we waited half an hour for the waitress to ackowledge us. This was only after we asked someone walking by if we could get a waitress. What was unacceptable was that the restaurant was almost empty. We then waited a long time for our food and when it arrived, it was cold. After taking our order, the waitress never returned to ask us if we needed anything else and we had to ask the busboy for the check.
Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant, especially being that Park Slope is filled with restaurants that have excellent food and service.

The owver's at this restaurant were completely insincere and rude. My order was messed up in the kitchen, which is fine, happens all the time, but when the waiter asked the owner to stop by my table to apologize for the mix up, he refused. Then, when I found the owner, he was completely rude to me and refused to apologize for the mix up, telling me that I should "enunciate better." I will never return to this restaurant again!

I've been back to this restaurant several times and am always impressed by the new dishes that are added to the Specials menu. They recently added a dish called Tortilla Soup which knocked my socks off.

The portions they serve are huge and the prices are very reasonable.

It is a nice, comfortable and colorful place. I'm happy that this restaurant opened up in my neighborhood.

The decor is fun. Staff are friendly, but oh man, and this has happened on both visits there - SLOW service. They're just having a good time and not very driven to get you your drinks or your food. This happened one night when it was packed, and one night when it was only 1/3 full. And when I nudged the waiter for my drink 15 minutes after ordering it, I got a "so what" attitude. Aside from that the food is fine. It's even good. I do wish they'd spare a little more fish for their fish tacos. TEENY portions of fish on those. And with Miracle Grill in the same neighborhood serving twice as much fish on the tacos for a couple dollars more, at twice the speed, Bogota needs to do more to make me choose them over Miracle Grill.

During the weekends is busy but the waiting is less than 20 minutes, which is very good for NYC. The food was delicious and the service was wonderful!

My husband and I went on a rainy Saturday night. There was a short wait, so we sat at the bar, which was very pleasant (although I wouldn't go just for the bar). The food was really good for the most part. Don't order the corn tortilla with the avocado salad--it lacks real flavor. But The fish tacos were good, and the chicken tamale was great! Our waiter was very friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was a little noisy, but fun, and would be good for a large group or just a couple. The value for this place was great-- we had 2 drinks, 2 appetizers, 2 entrees, and 1 chocolate cake (yummy!!) for just $55 (not including tip). We will definitely be back!!

The prices are very good and the food is pretty darn good. I've gone twice already had Bandeja Paisa, the Trucha, and for dessert the obleas and I was more than satisfied. As opposed to other fufu Latino places, this one has a great down-to-earth atmosphere, good non-greasy food (which means the owners still care what the hell they put on the table), and goos service. My favorite hang out for Colombian food in Brooklyn...they steak is good too, my friend had it and she couldn't stop saying, "this is REALLY good."

Over all, this is a genuinely great place to come have a drink, have a great meal, and listen to some great latin tunes. Ohh be sure to try the Latin Lover Martini... just sooo darn tasty...

I'm not sure what restaurant that negative reviewer went to, but I must say that my experience at Bogota was the complete opposite. My friends and I decided to sit out in the garden...we couldn't pass up dining with Celia Cruz and all the other Latin musical greats on the huge mural out there! We started with this amazing corn--it's covered in spicy chipotle mayo and a mild cheese. Best...corn...ever! The quesadillas were also quite good. For my entree, I had poblano peppers stuffed with salmon...yum! And my friends really enjoyed their Fish Tacos and Skirt Steak. Didn't think it could get any better...wrong! The cheesecake taquito with ice cream was wonderful. It was also cool to meet the friendly owners, George and Farid, who actually came to check on us. Who does that anymore?? Overall we had a really nice experience--great space, great food, great people!
