I am not a regular salon-goer and used to do my nails at home myself. However, with my second pregnancy during warmer months I just needed a pedicure and couldn't find the time to keep up and was dismayed to wear open-toed sandals. So, I searched around for a salon that wouldn't have those strong nail polish odors that often give me a headache. I was thrilled and a little surprised to find that an organic salon existed! I called and was given an appointment that day. I had to bring my toddler because it was a weekend and my husband was working on a deadline. The service could not have been more generous, accommodating and friendly. My daughter sat up on the seats with me and she absolutely loved all the scents and colors. They brought me lemonade (it was summer) while I waited. The river stones on the bottom of the foot bath; the scented oils and flowers placed in that bath; plus the dazzling array of nail polish colors were fun to share with my daughter. She kept pulling nail polish off the display and asking, Can I have it? She's only 3 years old but I think she may become a Priti customer! At one point, one of the staff even took her to the bathroom as I was not in a position to do it myself.

I'm still not a regular salon-goer but I've been back to Priti a couple more times. I tried to go to another salon near my office and left without getting a pedicure because the smells gave me a near-instant headache. I'm a convert now. No other salon will do. I have to say, as a frugal person, I pick and choose carefully and try to find value in all my spending. I am willing to splurge on Priti. They are definitely worth the price!

Pros: relaxing atmosphere, great service

Cons: costs more than neighborhood salons

My kids gave me a gift cetificate to priti because I am extremely sensitive to all chemicals and hadn't been able to get a pedicure for years because the fumes in regular salons make me sick.
Not at Priti! There are none of those horrible fumes you get when you walk into other salons. They don't use anything toxic-the polishes and removers are super pure.
Priti is such an amazing find for me! I can treat myself to a pedicure now and they do a beautiful job! The salon is pretty and comfortable and the technicians are lovely people. They are amenable to appointments or walk-ins-which I usually do and I never have to wait.

I have been a client of Priti Organic Spa since the opening. The owner, Kim D?Amato, is very brave to enter the battlefield of a critical service industry. I?m a huge fan and very impressed by how the spa has gone through dramatic changes. The owner is dedicated to her clientele and staff in order to make changes needed through time, patience, and customs to accommodate us. Many of my well traveled, highly cultured, and fashionable friends have become regular clientele as well. They long for the times to get back to NY for well deserved pampering after extensive traveling. To my dismay, with knowledge of beauty products and services, I am surprised by some of the reviews posted on this site. What I gather, the people who have complained about their $40 dollar pedicures are the same people who have no problem or complaints going to the very dirty $20 mani w/pedi places. Those who think the services and products at Priti can be compared to the $20 dollar walk ins, confuse me to believe that they might be ignorant or indifferent between rose petals and expensive essential oils in contrast to the left behind clipped nails and scrapped off dead skin that those ?other? places leave behind. I realize that Priti may be a little expensive for some budgets, but there are some plus values. One, they use only organic products, which are much more expensive to produce then high-end chemically enhanced ones and are better for you. Second, the pedicures sometimes last up to three weeks. Finally, for an upper scale spa it is much less expensive then let?s say the $150 you?ll have to pay at other high-end spas around the city that are more like factories than a cozy retreat. The facials, waxing, and massages are tip-top. If you have any complaints, the manager and spa owner are more than happy to reverse such feelings. As we all know not everything can be perfect, just perfected. Kim D?Amato has done a fantastic job. Not knowing her personally?that?s not bad for an ex-model.

I was really excited about going for my first pedicure in over a year at Priti. Being pregnant and very sensitive about toxic things, I was really happy I found it. I decided to take my mom with me for her mother's day gift. For $40 for a pedicure, I expect some pampering- not a ton, but maybe being offered a glass of water or something. Nothing. I had to carefully climb up to the chair which wasn't easy for a pregnant woman. The spa was really small (looked quite different online), and HOT. It was a hot day and being 7 months pregnant, I was really looking forward to getting inside for a relaxing pedicure. Well, I was sweating while my feet soaked in hot water. Just not a pleasant combination. I felt bad for taking my mom to such a hot place. The pedicure was just alright- nothing special- lasted about 1/2 hour, and then we were just told to sit by the dryers. The girls all disappeared as it was the afternoon on a weekday and noone else was there. For $80 I really would've expected just a little more service and a cool environment or at least for someone to warn me that it wouldn't have air conditioning. I asked the receptionist at the end if there was AC, and she said just this one (small unit) in the front and another in the back that wasn't on. I suggest they at least put them both on for their clients. Maybe it's a part of being green, but you can't really charge people $40 for a pedicure in a sweltering room on a hot July day. I would definitely not return.

and oh so relaxed. I just now floated home from what was I think the best mani/pedi experience I have had in all my long long years. I was lucky enough to get Andrea today. She is smart, perceptive and thoughtful. When she applied the first coat of polish she asked if I was happy with the color; can't recall the last time anyone asked me that question, if ever. Prior to the polish, she gave me the most amazing foot and calf massage that I have have ever had from an unschooled masseuse. Ditto the the hand massage with the mani. I am so accustomed to having to be alert to ensure that I leave a salon with all of my digits and layers of skin intact, but in Andrea's hands, I felt safe enough to close my eyes and drift away. And drift I did. Thank you Andrea!!

I have only had a manicure/pedicure but I respect what Kim is doing with a small business and a unique original idea. First of all, her stuff is organic, we pay for that, and second of all her business is small and in order to survive small businesses that offer unique services have to charge enough to stay alive in this climate of big corporate spas like Exhale and others, who charge plenty too. No. it is not sterile and shee-shee but it is clean and quiet and pleasantly calm. The practitioners I have had have been quiet or nicely conversational and there is a peacefulness, right down to the rose pedals and stones in the water, that I don't find at other nail salons from the Koreans to the larger more high end places, where I never felt so comfortable anyway. Kim is down to earth and real, her products are great and I think NYers could learn to be a little more flexible(ie, call ahead and don't plan on a day where you have to fit it in and be somewhere else, that's what I do!) and less critical. Yes, the massage room is off the nail room but the place is basically quiet and the place is small! So give it a try and ask for her specias when she is running them if you are on a budget, like me. I would rather get a great time-taking treatment than a rush job and do it less often ( they last well anyway!) I wish Kim and her staff all the best with her unique vision. And those who have feedback for Kim, let her know! Maybe she could have a feedback box or something, questionnaire?

Pros: really sweet touches in the decor

Cons: you need not to be rushed and schedule when you don't feel stressed about time!

I have been a customer of Priti Organic Spa for over a year and I give praise to Nadya. She is the best manicurist in NYC and she works so meticousily on my hands and feet. From reading other reviews I see people have complained about their small atmosphere, but it does in fact make it very intimate and I love the small setting and decor. They use all ORGANIC products, and have their very own Priti Product Line consisting of nail polishes, removers, candles, bath salts, body cremes, and baby products too! Not only are the manicurists great, there polishes are streak free and paint nails so evenly and perfect. Their Nail Polish is a must buy at ONLY $12.50! Zoi, their esthtician and massage therapist is AMAZING! Not only does she perform the best facials, she is highly knowledgable about body/skin care. She is always busy so make sure to book with her in advance.

to all my friends and clients of citysearch,
it has come to my attention via one of my clients that anonymous reviews of my business have been posted on citysearch.Although i am fully aware that everyone is entitled to their opinions i am dismayed that those who are unhappy about their services have not bothered to come to me with their complaints so that i may have the chance to rectify any sour situation that has occured. As a small business owner i try everyday not only to give excellent service, hire local employees, pay competitive wages and adhere to a higher standard of living by using organic ingredients, and providing an enviromentally sound business and lifestyle.although i am happy and proud to do so it is not easy.i do try to give my best with the resources available to me and i do appreciate your critisim for without it i could not grow and learn.i come from the old school of the customer is always right and i do try to make sure that is enforced in my business.
however as a small business owner i ask all of you who have a complaint to perhaps take on your problems with the owner of the business i am sure the owner would not only appreciate it but would take the necessary steps to improve their service and resolve any problems.i know i would.
thanks so much to all of you who have enjyed our services and support my business i do appreciate it.

When you patronize a spa, you expect to be pampered. Though a talkative attendant can be annoying, the problem with Priti seems to start at the top. If a client has a problem with any aspect of thier service, 2 things should happen. First the complaint shoud be made to the aesthetician right away by the owner or manager, so the problem can be corrected right away. And second, said aesthetician should have the opportunity to provide a complimentary service to the client. If client declines, then at least the customer service aspect of the business was satisfied.
Management also has control over the scheduling. You can't be in a hurry for a "day at the spa", but If service cannot be provided in a timely manner, then they need a new scheduler.
And any decent manager or business owner will stand behind thier employees until they hear thier version of the story, no matter what the client has said.

I was really excited about trying Priti Organic Spa. I'm pregnant and was looking for an organic spa for pedicures. I found them on the internet searching for an alternative to my usual spa which isn't completely organic, but is a natural spa with a lovely Asian staff and decor.
Anyways, I was expecting the same level of classiness, privacy and comfort with Priti judging the picture I found of the salon on the website and also by the expensive price. But I was really disappointed.
The decor offers no privacy and there's a cordless phone plugged into wall by the nail drying station.
The staff seems really inexperienced in how to treat guests. I was greeted with an obnoxious hello and though offered a cup of tea, when I asked for something decaffeinated, they only could offer Children's Cold Sleep Aid. And the absolute worst part----my pedicurist, who did a mildly o-k job, talked to me the entire time and told me about her family drama which included her sister recently giving her fourth child up for adoption!!!!!!!!
This was my first outing since being holed up with morning sickness for three months and actually being in the midst of a high risk pregnancy. Not what I wanted to hear!
In fact, I read that the owner started the spa because she was pregnant and noticed the need for a fully organic and chemically-safe salon.
I'm going to buy a bottle of soy nail polish remover and bring it to my first choice of spas. I just
can't afford to try this one again and have it not be fantastic.

I have to vent. A friend treated me to a manicure/pedicure and full body massage last Sunday. Our appointment was for 12 noon. We were not seated for our first treatment (pedicure) until 12:45. The pedicure was fine, nothing special, and it took way too long...almost an hour. It would be one thing if they were massaging and scrubbing for that whole hour, but the reality was that they were just very slow about every movement. At one point my pedicurist left for about 10 minutes to talk in the corner with a co-worker while she was complaining about something in the appointment book. So, then time for my massage. Not sure why they scheduled me for a pedicure BEFORE the massage. Not the smartest idea as my toes were not fully dry when I got on the table. The table, by the way, was in a supply closet at the back of the salon. There was a curtain separating this "room" from the area where they clean the tools, get drinks for customers, etc. I could hear all of that going on, plus the music in the main salon area competing with the music playing in my "room". This area was so small that my masseuse couldn't move around the table without sliding against the wall. To top it, there was an insect under my sheet and the CD she had playing started skipping. Needless to say, it wasn't the most relaxing experience. The massage itself was fine, but the whole ambience was a joke. And they charge $110 for this. No shower by the way, no robes, no slippers. My friend was getting her facial in the proper massage room; the one with a door. She said it was fine, but we both agreed to bail on the manicure. It was already 3:30 by this time and all the stations were filled, so who knew how long we would have waited. Sorry, but this place doesn't offer much, aside organic products.

I saw Priti in Lucky mag for the best placces in the city for comfy bikini waxing. there is no such thing but the decor and quiet neighborhood spot is lovely. I was unfortunate to have a brand new girl on the job and it was the worse experience ever. However, i did get a mani and pedi which was delightful since you sit high up on this wooden seat with a cushion and you put your foot into a nice round sink where they fill it with the essential oil of the day and some petals. it's not your average machine-like foot spa. Everything abou this salon is indeed very calming and organic. The polishes are non toxic but they also take longer to dry and smudge. The manicurists and great and perfectionists. Having my hand and feet done alone with my brazilian took about 3 hours or more, so don't anticipate to get in and outta here. The owner is very sweet and when I told her about my horrible experience in the wax room, she gave me a certificate to have it done again by the regular girl who happened to be busy at the time. I trust that the regular waxer is very professional since I overheard that she came from a photo shoot. I look forward to her services.

The first time I went to Priti, it was a wonderful experience, from the herbal tea to the wooden manicure tables and simple decorations. It's a small space, but it makes it feel intimate. The tools are sterilized in pouches like dental tools, so everything is very clean. The ladies who do the manis and pedis do an excellent job, and are trained very well. They are also the only place that I have found that carry natural nail polish...without the toluene and formaldehyde...It is a bit pricy, but I usually save my money to go to them even if it means every 3 months...And the owner is very friendly...
