I had never had a massage in my life, and I have serious and debilitating body image issues...you can bet I was nervous. I told this to my gorgeous masseuse, Lumi, who was compassionate and sympathetic; clearly I was not the first person she had come across with these issues, and she dealt with me tenderly and with the utmost respect. She said that she wanted me to relax and enjoy the experience and she would not talk to me so I could do so; I explained that talking would be fine since I was so nervous! Those hot stones were amazing! Lumi kept asking me if they were too hot or if I wanted them hotter. In short, when she was done, I attempted to get up and my body felt as if it were filled with Jell-O. Lumi was incredible and even worked out a seriously painful area of my shoulder-blade that has been waking me up with stabbing pain for the past few months?GONE.

The Spa Lunch was delicious, and the wonderful woman in the Spa Cafe, Ran, was friendly and wonderful to talk to (I engaged her in conversation). Lunch was a delicious grilled pesto chicken salad with so many wonderful beverages, the table was full!

Rodica was my manicurist and I have never had a manicure last as long as hers did! She was a blast to talk to!

Red Door Spas have a great, modern, relaxing atmosphere. Well worth the money!

I got a microderm with new technology, which left my face looking and feeling incredible. Also got a Caci eye treatment, which gave a great lift. The spa is beautiful and the technicians so smart.

I got a gift certificate and was scheduled for a regular facial and added a brow wax at the last minute. I hate when places sell you on their products at the end of a service but in the middle of the facial?? Just let me relax already!

I wasn't able to see how truly crappy the eyebrow wax was until I got home. Still fuming that I paid $40 for this!!! I'll stick with my nail place down the street. It's less than half the price and 100 times better.

I received a gift certificate for my birthday to visit the Red Door Spa. I've made it a habit to get two facials a year, and was really looking forward to the service, particularly since I am three months pregnant. The reception upon entering was nice - they were cordial and pleasant, and I waited about ten minutes before being met by my technician. Just after the facial began I noticed the technician was definitely ill. She couldn't stop coughing, and was sniffling as well. Being pregnant I was obviously not crazy about someone coughing all over my face, but what was I going to do? She seemed to be speeding through the facial(fastest facial I've ever had), and actually had to get up to leave the room a few times(she eventually opened a window too). Facials are not cheap, and I was really upset that not only was there sick person hovering over me, but she was moving as fast as humanly possible to get something done that was supposed to be a pampering and relaxing experience. This was the least relaxing and pampering facial I've ever had. Upon checking out(after trying to be sold numerous products by the sick technician) I was barely grunted to by the check out person. She literally slapped my change down on the counter and did not say thank you, or thanks for visiting our spa. Not a word. I was so disappointed with the experience, and don't want to tell my in laws how poor it was(they gifted me with the gift certificate), but don't want anyone else to waste their money or time visiting this place. It's not worth it - do yourself a favor and go to Bliss Spa instead.

I can't believe all the bad reviews.?? Yesterday day I just had my 1st experience at the Red Door for Spa week. I got my very 1st facial and did the stress melter ritual (which is NOT a massage), The melter ritual is a scrub down, then oil apply, a foot or head massage and they you stay wrapped up for 20 min. My skin felt amazing and it was very relaxing. Najlaa was very sweet, she told me in the begining what the process was, so the treatment was quite and all I can do was relax. I was in a corner room that was above 5th ave, I did here a few car horns but this is NYC, it's common noise and did not affect me at all. After she was done she had me get dress and when she greeted me again with a glass of water for me. She walked me over to the elevator, pressed the button for me, walked in, press the next floor for me to go to and told me to Enjoy my facial!!! WOW I was so impressed. Then I went downstairs for my 1st facial, with Mikia. I'm 26 y/o and I have always been scared to get a facial because I'm very fair and have senstive skin and I didn't want to be left with bumps or redness. But Mikia assured me none of that will happen. She told very good care of me, offered me a drink or if I have to use the ladies room before she started. She applied everything gentle, never had anything get into my mouth or eyes. Did a parrfin on my hands and gave a great neck, shoulder massage. The extractions were a little painful but I'm a cry baby when it comes to pain, and she did it as gentle as possilbe but for the results I got it was worth it!! She did offered some products to purchased and to start using a new beauty regime. I declined the products for purchased but I will started the regime as she suggested.

The ladies at the counter were very sweet and always had a big smile! Going floor to floor didn't bother me at all. The lounge on the massage floor is gorgeous! Sit back on a nice couch, drink the yummy drinks! My wait for each treatment was less then 5 min. I can't wait to go back!!

The only con I have is the changing rooms on the 9th floor, very small and tight like a shower stall, but that's my only complaint.

The do have lockers that have locks, you set to code to the locker and go.

Thank you RED DOOR for offering this amazing deals for Spa Week

I got a gift certificate for the signature package, and after reading all the negative reviews, it took me a few months to muster up the courage to redeem it. Let me just say that it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be! My swedish massage with Najlaa was awesome. She was very nice, and the massage was absolutely heavenly. I wasn't so crazy about my facial - it felt clinical, it hurt a bit more than was comfortable, and I was scolded for having less than perfect skin by my esthetitian. It really did not help me feel relaxed or pampered! My mani/pedi was probably the best I've ever had! Totally loved every minute of it! I should have skipped the makeup application because I never even wear makeup up, and I left looking like a socialite sextagenarian. Over all, I'd say the experience was OK. If I did go again, I'd book a massage and mani/pedi.

BIGGEST DUMP EVER! This place is so gross. The aestheticians are terrible and rude- pushing products down your throat. Someone stole my underwear from my locker while I was having a facial- there are no locks on the lockers. This place is so dirt and the people working there are RUDE RUDE RUDE! The lady giving my facial was texting on her cell the whole time- her hands were rough and hurt like sand-paper on my face. It is so gross in there- not sure how this place has not been closed down by the sanitation board.. STAY AWAY

I went to the NYC location as i was given a $200 gift certificate for Christmas. I decided to get the Stress Melter Ritual which included an Olive Oil Salt Scrub, a body oil wrap and a massage. First, the intake person was rather abrupt and not very welcoming or professional. The tiny little curtain draped booths they give you to change in are a joke as they are so tiny. The relaxation room was not as nice as other spas I've been to. The technician was OK but did not seem very knowledgeable and DESTROYED my sensitive skin with the salt scrub. My legs welted up and she continued to scrub after i told her it was hurting. She didn't seem very concerned with the condition of my skin. The body wrap was nothing special and the massage was probably the best part. I just found this place to be a bit run down (shower had mold etc) and definitely not a first class operation. It was far from relaxing. Try Oasis Spa instead!

I got a gift certificated for my birthday at Red Door Spa for a facial ,massage and mani-pedi.
I never been at this place before so I was quite nervous. At the front desk a very friendly young lady welcome me with a smile and direct me to the lockers and another lady walked me to the relaxation room, offered me a glass of lemon water while I sat down on an soft sofa I filled out my questionnaire form. Wow that was easy! I started to get relaxed already, the relaxation area was clean and not busy, but this area was very cold.
A few minutes later I was greeted by Liza who welcome me again. She explain to me the importance of filling out my form in case of any health problems or allergic conditions I thought that she was very professional
She made sure to ask me if there were specific parts of my body that I wanted her to focus on, as well as making sure I felt completely comfortable and my massage table was very warm and comfy. I have never enjoyed a massage as much as I did with Liza One of the best massage therapists I've come across in years.:-)
I got a facial after the massage , my skin feel fantastic,my manicure and pedicure treatment amazing, this was the best experience I ever have in a spa.
I would definitely go back and refer her to ANYONE! Amazing overall experience.

I got few massages before, but none compare to the job done by Olga Liza. She was very attentive and receptive to feedback I told her that problems I was having and her fingers worked their magic. She gave excellent pressure and even worked on my feet . When I left I felt like a new person and my faith in massages has been restored. I HIGHLY recommend her especially for those who get a little nervous about massage-she's great I keep telling my friends to get an appointment fast and even though it was very busy the day I visited, no one made me wait. I recommend getting there early, the reception desk gets pretty busy.

My sister and I visited the Red Door Spa few weeks ago and we both had a great experience . We had facials, massages and body scrubs and they were terrific. The therapists Rhoda and Liza were welcoming, friendly and very talented. They recommended products used during the treatment ,but there was not a hard sell - just a nice recommendation. We will definably return. We've been to a number of spas in the city - this was a great experience and a relaxing day.

I came to Red Door last week with and old gift certificated from last mother's day and after walking all NYC with my xmas shopping in the bad cold wheather. I was so happy to find Liza my therapist she was amazing, managing to release pain and tension from my neck and back. She made sure that I was comfortable and warm.. It was the best massage I ever had, I highly recommend Liza when you are looking for relaxation just ask for the Signature massage.

I have to say considering the amount they charge their service leaves much to be desired.

Every time I've gone (3 times) I've had to wait at least half an hour. I work. I dont have time to waste, though obviously the way their appointments are run thats not something they're concerned with.

Additionally they obviously push your ladies to very very aggresively push other services onto clientele. Frankly I find this obnoxious and off-putting.

While the brazilian I had done was good the actual leg waxing was far from good. The fact that I'm tall should not be an excuse for a shoddy job. A lot of hair must have been broken when pulled because within a week there were areas with a centimeter of growth.

Give em a miss! Better folks to spend your money on.

I booked the Elizabeth Arden Signature facial for both my fiance and myself. Both of us were very displeased with the services we received. It was not relaxing, very painful and we left feeling greasy and dirty. Check-in was quick - neither of us waited long at all. Their "treatment rooms" are not in a good location at all. They are all located just beyond the check-in desks. My fiance heard constant noise from people checking in throughout his whole service. I was in a room a little farther away from the desks, but they had the window partially open and heard all the 5th Ave traffic/noise (not very conducive for being "relaxed" or "pampered"). The worst part of the facial was cleaning the pores. They do not use tools (which they are very proud of), except they just use their finger nails w a tissue. Both of us have gotten facials from various spas in the city and know that cleaning pores out is never pleasant. But it was EXTREMELY painful at Red Door Spa - the most painful facial we've ever had. As if that wasn't bad enough, the woman performing the facial on my fiance took a chunk of skin off his nose. My lady kept telling me to open my eyes and see the gunk she got out on the tissue. Would anyone want to see this?? They kept putting more and more layers of masks/lotions on our faces. By the end, I felt like a greasy, oily mess. My lady was so sloppy with the applications and got the products in my hair. I left the salon looking like I hadn't showered in days (greasy, matted, stringy hair). Additionally, they put very heavy hand cream on my hands and then put them in warming 'mits' for the whole service. That was very comfortable. However, my lady never asked me if I would like to remove my engagement ring before she did this. After we left the spa, I promptly went to get my ring cleaned, which was covered in hand cream. We will never be going back to Red Door Spa.

Someone got me a gift cert for this spa. I expected it would be "high end," clean, peaceful and organized. It was NONE of the above. And my facial seemed super-rushed. She took the full time, but she was moving so quickly, as if she just wanted to get it over-with. And she tried to up-sell me on added treatments while I was there. Not at all relaxing.
The facility was really dingy, with paint-chipped doors. The reception area was as busy as Grand Central Terminal. And the salespeople were not that nice or helpful. They seemed to want to say "just buy it and get out." It was not service-oriented.
I was told I could get a little makeup applied so that I'd not have to run around afterward with a "bare" face. I waited and waited and waited. No one even tried to let me know when my "turn" would be up. I finally just gave up and left.
All of that said, my skin did look great afterward. And the cleanser I bought I really like. I imagine though, I could have found that result in a better atmosphere.

Pros: My face actually "glowed"

Cons: Chaotic, Dingy, Pushy/salesy, Rushed

I go to stylist Michelle every month and am always happy with my cut and style. Always a nice treat too getting a great scalp massage during the shampoo. I haven't tried the massages there yet, but seems pretty convenient to have that as an option down the road.

I was expecting top quality for $175 plus tips, I received instead the worse hair cut ever. Not that it is technically wrong, but it is wrong for my face and my type of hair. I just can't blow-dry my hair my myself
Then is when you know there is something wrong with the cut. Now I would need to get another one.
Overall the spa was a disappointment too. Come on it is red doors on fifth ave!

Had an Abhyanga massage with Kimberly recently, and I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to try something a little different. I'm a fairly regular massage goer and this was one of the best massages I've ever had. It started with taking a brief survey to indentify which "dosha" I fall into. They then match the oils used in the massage to balance your dosha type. The massage itself seemed to be focused on relaxation rather than rejuvenation. There was a lot of emphasis on the feet and hands on on my arm and leg joints. I got the sense that this massage addresses the Indian version of the Chinese Chi, or flow of energy throughout the body. Whether it's marketing hype or not, I don't know, but I've never felt so relaxed during and after a massage before. Kimberly was excellent, providing a great balance between firmness and relaxation. Only drawback was the locker room, which seemed a bit tired. Other than that, the staff was very professional and welcoming. I highly recommend it.

My girlfriends chipped in & got me a gift certificate for my birthday. present I decided to get a facial at the red door spa in nyc & It was the worst experience ever. The lady who worked on me was rough on my skin she was like slapping around my face, she was pressing on my face to rub in all these creams really hard almost like she was kneeding dough. I pointed out I had some sensitive spots on my face & asked her to be gentle but she didn't listen at all .. She kept pointing out the dark bags under my eyes, broken cappilaries & large pores I have. Like I really wanted to hear about that when I'm trying to have a relaxing treatment. My skin is really not that bad so i was surprised at her comments.. So ontop of her being rough on my face the facial did absolutely nothing. It hurt & I saw no changes except red irritation- it was a total waste of time & money.. Worst part was - when I came out to pay the bill & hand in my gift certificate - they charged me double the price than what was advertised in their price booklet. They said the prices had changed since the price book I had was sent out ( meanwhile my gift cerificate & thte price book I got was only 1 week old ) Plus I was required to give 15-20 gratuity .. It was just the worst experience ever - total rippoff & not worth the money.. When I tried to get a manager to complain- she was off duty & was coming in late at night supposedly - I still haven't heard anything. There are soooooo many other good spa's go to in the city .. I'd never go back here even if it was for free - I'd never recommend it to anyone.

I have a gift certificate from my brother to get a deep tissue massage I was a bit of a skeptic about getting a massage again at Red Door as most of my past experiences were not memorable .This time I got Liza ,she was extremely welcoming and friendly ,the whole experience was terrific. Her sense of humor and her authenticity put me at ease immediately her massage work was excepcional and has greatly helped improve the condition of my back, she has treated both the injured muscles of my lower back and other areas of my body that help support my back such as legs and feet. The combination of techniques with the strength of her hands are amazing .I have learned how with her massage thecniques I can effetely change my mental and physical well being. I will certainly continue to come back to see Liza and highly recommend her to others.

Relax Already!! One of the best massage I've ever received at Red Door Spa with Paul
The staff seemed very friendly and no attitude. Red Door isn't glamorous despite the Fifth Ave location, but once on the massage table and in Paul's hands I couldn't care less about glamour locations ,his treatment and techniques were deep, firm pressure to release the tension in my shoulder and upper back..My tension and stress? 100% reduced, I want to thank him and highly recomended him. I've been to other places for massages, but I'll definitely come back to this place.
I wish I didn't have to walk out onto NYC chaos afterwards..

I returned to the Red Door on 5th Ave for the 2nd time and once again I LOVED IT!!! The facial was absolutely GREAT! I requested Nina once again and she did not disappoint! She is very caring and gentle and made my skin look beautiful. She also did an eyebrow wax with their special wax and it was great. Thank you Nina!

I will keep coming back to Red Door for massages because they simply do a great job. I have had quite a bit of massages over the years, some of it good and some of it painfully bad. My recent massage with Liza was fantastic. Take it from me,Liza is as good as it gets. In this case, she really helped alleviate some pain that I had been experiencing from a recently pulled leg muscle. She worked the injury, combining slow stretches and deep massage with heat and cold aplications. One hour later, I was a new man. I heartily recommend this place. If you need some relief, consider a session with this lady She's a miracle worker. I've also had a great experiences with facials here. The staff is really friendly and helpful

I'm actually disappointed to read some of these negative reviews, in my opinion the place is great.
I had the best deep tissue massage ever with John it was an invigorating service. He warmed up the cream and massaged all of the kinks out of my back. I was totally in heaven. The service was wonderful, the staff was very nice, the prices are ok compared to what typical NYC spas charge.
I didn't have to wait, John took me just on time and his massage room was huge in comparision with the relaxation room and ladies lockers it happens to be a bit tight, but the staff makes you feel right at home !

I went with my mother for a half-day special (massage, body scrub, mani and lunch), and we both had a wonderful experience. The service was great and friendly, prompt and attentive Everyone is very knowledgeable, kind and attentive. A straightforward salon with several (small) treatment rooms and experienced staff. The only thing I have to complain about is the changing room. It is small however adequate. I can't wait to go back to try a facial and enjoy another massage!
The prices are very reasonable too. Highly recommend it!

I think Miss Arden would be proud to know what wonderful treatment I receive when I'm in this spa. I'm a regular there and I wouldn't go anywhere else in NYC. Every trip to Red Door Spa is a delight and an escape, no matter if I'm receiving a spa service or getting ready for a night out in the hair and nail salon. Go! Week days are the best time. It's not crowded and the ratio of staff to customers is very high.

It was my wedding aniversary so I called this spa to make a reservation to start my "romantic date".I asked for the couple massage and the lady never infor me that our couple massage was going to be in separated rooms. How do you call it "Couple Massage" when your spouse is 12 feet away with a semi open wall at the middle of the room?
Different rooms different experiences, I asked for the Signature Massage for both of us,from warm towels, aromatherapy oils ,eyes pillows Wow! the description sounded great. I got nothing of that, while in thenear by room I can hear small conversation between my husband and her therapist asking if he was confortable and warm if the pressure was right ,I can smell from his room the scential oils been apply ,my therapist did not use any aromatheraphy on me,no kind conversation or warm towels either. I was getting so upset I thought we have different treatments,She keep walking away from the table to reach for the cold lotion she was applying. It was the worse massage I ever have in my life!!! In fact It was not a massage just a lazy cold lotion aplication,my 5 year old has more energy that this peroxide russian woman,no confort no aromatherapy oils no eye pillows This lady was tired ,hungry or just plain lazy,When it was over I compare notes with my husband he got all the description of a Signature Massage plus some more
For me ? I got nothIng but a hole in my wallet it is a shame.!
This place need a serious evaluation of the way therapist peforms the treatments .Also needs a manager ASAP Who takes care of the clients,? I see no reason why if the spa is open until 6 PM on Sunday I can't find a manager to talk to.before leving the place.
I will never return, with so many great places in NYC why to go to Red Door,? Because is located at 5th Ave?
Get real! times are hard Why pay top $$$ for crappy work on a fancy location,? I can get a consistent better service 2 blocks away.

I visited the Red Door spa for a wax on a recent trip back to my hometown of NYC as my usual place was very out of the way of my day's errands. The receptionist downstairs was rather rude and I was pretty much on my own to find my way to the waxing floor. The waiting room wasn't all that crowded and I was on time, but I still ended up waiting overtime. When I did get a room, my aesthetician spent the whole session commenting on previous customers and making rather inappropriate comments, which made me wonder just how private my private Brazilian wax was going to be. The wax used was pretty good, as were my waxer's speed and my comfort level, but my gosh, were the results sub-par. She missed a bunch of obvious clusters that I had to go back and tweeze. She also didn't make me move or turn-over much which she worked, so the result turned out to be more of a lazy bikini wax than a Brazilian. When I pointed this out to her, she did one or two more strips, but that was apparently all I was going to get out of her that day. I highly doubt I'll ever be back, since there are so many wonderful spas in the city, many of which are more affordable.

This place is Absolutely Disgusting. I seriously don't know how they remain open. I had an extremely bad experience which I will get in to in a second- however; there is dust and I literally saw spider-webs in the corner of the aesthetician's room. I went to this place because I had heard about it forever and figured I would try it for a facial and pedicure. There were no locks on the lockers, the shower was gross- I wouldn't dare get in, there was point chipping on the walls, and water marks on the ceiling. The woman who gave me the facial was so unfriendly and was constantly texting on her phone during my facial. I nearly got up and left- I'm mad I didn't. You might want to sit down for this one - I went' to gather my clothes after my facial and my underwear was missing from my locker. I was so embarrassed and grossed out- after speaking with the manager, I was told that they were very sorry but they couldn't really do anything about it. I promised to let everyone know what a wretched experience I had and that's exactly what I'm doing. I am shocked that the Sanitation Dept. of NY has not closed this place down. It's a ***hole!!

Had a sub par facial here. Couldn't wait for it to be over, it was that bad. The luxurious massage consisted of the woman rubbing her fingers around my eyes over and over and over until I wanted to bat them away. The woman was way more interested in increasing my bill than providing the service. She kept asking me to upgrade to microdermabrasion and collagen and fancy masques. I finally just told her I wanted what I signed up for only. Afterwards I received a complimentary make up application which left me looking like a clown and the make up lady following me around until she was sure she received her tip. Yuck. Don't go. It's like being robbed.

Pros: Have to agree with the others, the best thing about the experience is when you walk out the door!

Cons: Too many to list here - unprofessional, unskilled, greedy staff

I got my hair done at this spa by a new addition to there staff, a hairdresser team that is a disaster, the blond toosome is awful, they ruined my hair. Color and cut was not what I wanted. They did not listen, they never shout up, talk, talk, talk, about nothing, and don't listen. I will have to get my hair color and the awful cut fixed, when I get back home. I will not be going back to this place. The work of these too stink, one worse than the other.

Ive lived in New York for 10 years, and been to many salons in the city. I used to think ive seen it all - that is until I went to Red Door Spa on Fifth Ave. Never in my life have i felt more uncomfortable in a salon. When I walked in, I was completely ignored by the girl and young man workin the desk. Sadly, I later found out that the girl was actually a manager, and apparently didnt find it necessary to acknowledge me. Very unprofessional. The coat check woman was extremely nice, however she was very elderly and was sitting down resting her head in her arms when i approached her. I had a cut and color. The color was decent, if that. The man who colored my hair was very loud, and seemed anxious and bothered by me. He also talked about himself the entire time, and insulted me more than once. I wanted my highlights to look natural, but he seemed to be rushing and my hair looks streaky and there was bleeding at the roots. Since he was so rude i didnt bother to mention it because I knew it would cause even more problems, and I had to get it fixed at another salon. The color room was VERY messy, crowded, unorganized. The woman who cut my hair was named Brenda. Made me wait 35 minutes for her, and when she came in she was very rude. She made it look like it was my fault, and then acted annoyed the whole time. She had the same bad attitude as the colorist, and my cut was way too short. I am very angry that I even stepped foot in this disaster of a salon. I live in New York City, there are so many amazing salons here, I'm almost embarrassed that I even went to Red Door.

Pros: none

Cons: rushed, rude employees, over priced, it was cold and very dirty

Stay away from this place, it is all hype. I cannot believe they are still in business. I honestly felt like I was being herded like cattle. My birthday gift started with a full day at the spa including a massage, which was ok, although Ive had better. I couldnt relax during the facial because of annoying product pushing, then had hair and nail services. The pedicure area appeared dirty and was a very impersonal experience, she never made eye contact with me throught the entire service and she seemed bored. My hair was the worst, I was scheduled to have a blowout and the stylist insisted I needed haircolor, that my current color looked "dull" and "muddy" I would think the stylist would want to make me feel good about myself and instead I felt insulted. What a horrible and unexperienced staff I can only imagine how Elizabeth Arden herself would be so ashamed of a place like this.. stay away for these prices I would have expected so much more.

The worst hair stylist in the world is Shadi Burson, old fashioned, cuts while he is on heavy medication and makes terrible mistakes-they need to get rid of him and replace him with a younger hipper stylist who pays attention to what he is doing.

My hair is still growing out, after almost a year, from his error of shaving one side of my hair off. He is a horror.

I went here for a basic facial. Not only were they 15 minutes late in taking me, but the technician was not very thorough and left eye make-up and bits of product on my face which I didn't notice until after I went to use their bathroom, which was very dirty. I did not get a welcome reception either as I was with a group of four and we weren't shown the relaxation room which would have been nice for us to sit together in. I found it afterwards on my own by accident. The technician wasn't very welcoming either when we met she simply stated her name and marched back to her room without inviting me. I had to open the door all the way so I could get through. The decor and facilitiies were very outdated and ragged. I could even see through to another floor when I looked up to the ceiling in my spa room. I will not be going back and will not recommend that anyone else visit either.

I have gone to this place twice... I normally give it two tries if the stylist seemed to do a good job.

The first time I just got a cut, and it was a trim off of my layers. It was okay. I didnt feel amazing, but my hair was shorter.

Went back the next time, and shame on me. Im not too sure the "senior stylist" realized that my hair grows. She gave me a cut that worked for that day... and worked for the beauty products she put in my hair on that day... but once it grew out, I looked like a monster. Not to mention, I asked for warm, rich brown highlights, and she gave me orange tiger stripes. She is a "colorist". The total came to over $300, and I left ok, thinking the color will oxidize, and the cut will be ok.

After one wash, I realized she really didnt have much skill in cuts, or color.

Havent been back since.

Went during spa week. Their front entrance is closed for renovation, so the bad experience started with the back door entrance. Looks like I'm walking through construction zones. I was on the facial floor, and I don't know what the Citysearch description of "quiet candle-lit place, pampering" is about. The place is like a cosmetic floor in Bloomingdale. Zoos of people, an uncomfy sofa and nowhere to put glasses of water. Front desk receptionists just don't quite care about customer service. No relaxation room here. Bathroom doesn't have toilet paper and both sinks were broken. I'm glad I only have to pay $50 for facial. How could they charge so much for such a dumpy place?

Facialist rushed thru & had the bright light over my face the entire time. Granted, the extraction was thorough and my face was very clean. But she also only spend 15 sec cleaning my face and another 15 secs doing scrubs. Very strange routine and not relaxing. Did push product at the end, and stood right next to me when I decide what to get. Very uncomfy and totally not up to NYC standard. Reminds me of cheapie Chinatown facial space, but they charge a lot less!

I didn't want the makeup afterwards bc I want my skin to breath. But I did ask to try little eye shadow and lipstick. I was brought to table in the backroom and felt like I was in storage area. They definitely did not clean their brushes or appliances after the make up and I feel gross out.

Don't go here. Not worth even the $50 spa week special. Don't know why there are so many 5 star reviews. Maybe they do have different floors that had better services? Or maybe they write their own reviews.

And I am a regular Red Door customer... I usually go to Master Stylists, but I am VERY picky of whom I let touch my hair.

I had Jennifer. She is AMAZING. She is VERY skilled and listened exactly to what I was looking for. She put all her attention into texture and shine while she was cutting, and she truly knew what she was doing.

I was also looking around while I was in the chair, and noticed most of the hairdressers there knew their stuff.

I hope to become a regular client of Jennifer's, so I highly recommend her. If you had a bad experience before, try going back and asking for her.

Excellent.
